[quote author=hotmummy2015 post=33305930]Hi everyone, I have been a silent follower since december 2014, so now to give back to the followers of this thread. I had my interview on April 29 at 6,30am in lagos, i had been to the embassy in dec but i was denied then for no reason, the black lady in counter one was just a meanie, after speaking all the big big grammar and telling her all the numerous places i had been she still said i wasnt qualified for a visa bla bla, the purpose then was tourism as i wasnt pregnant then, anyways fastforward to the interview... the VO was a white woman in counter 6, beside one asian lady that was denying everyone that came to her, i was just praying in my mind that i wont land in ME: Cumning, Georgia VO: What is the purpose of the trip ( she still wasnt looking at me) ME: To have my baby VO: How far VO: What do you do , how much do you earn ( I told her) VO: DO you have doctors corresponsence, the break down of the cost ME: Yes i do, I sharply handed her the excel summary budget, hospital costs ( Northside Hospital) , doctors costs etc VO: she looks at the budget briefly, tosses it aside and starts to look at the hospital correspondence itself for a long time VO: where did you get this costs on the budget sheet? ME: I summarised it from all the correspondencies from the hospital , doctor etc, she finally picked up the sheet and scrutinized it seriously VO: what of accommodation, tickets and feeding? ME: accommodation is incuded in the sheet VO: do you have family and friends in the US ME: i have friends , no family VO: let me see your statements ( I give her mine and my husband's) , she checks something pinned on the noticeboard beside her VO: do you have additional statements ( I give her) VO: this your doctors letter doesn't look original ( she was insinuating it wasn't emailed to me and maybe i just jingboed it) ME: the obgyn coordinator emailed it to me directly and she has booked my appointment already in the doctors calendar and it all be

weaseloo: Praise God with me my people. My daughter's delivery was very successful! Dr. La is a great doctor and the hospital staff were superb. It is a world of difference between the birth of my first at Park Plaza Hospital and this experience. When you walk into WHMC you would think it was a hotel, beautiful.
I dealt with two ladies on accommodation issue, though I ended up not using either because I am renting/leasing. But the two Soul Care and Pampered Care I would say are kind and very serious minded. The locations and setting they had did not work for me. Congrats my brother |

Pls ensure u get to d office where it's been done. Don't patronise any tout. As for d consent form; I got it notarised by a notary public. But when pple raised d issue of embassy, I booked an appointment and went with d forms to d embassy. But didn't send it to madam cos she used d one I signed earlier. And she gave birth in Houston. Lotalways: Hi peeps,
Jux a quick one...for those using West Houston Medical Center, i jux left the registration center, was told prices will go up by next month.
For vaginal delivery- $3000 instead of $2500 C-section delivery -$4500 instead of $4000
Though the lady said they are yet to finalize on it.
For those that want to make payment this period, it advisable to make it as fast as u can to be on the safe side.
Thought to share. haa that's wont be nice oo,hmm, so how is the hospital?good standard?pls keep us inform oo,as it goes, not this time oo,with the dollar rate in niger, hmm |

Tvegas: Hallo my people. We welcomed a baby boy into the world on the 7th of January 2015, coincidentally January 10th was my wife’s birthday, so it’s been double celebration. I have also been busy changing diaper, rocking baby etc The experience was an awesome one, labor proceeded slowly so you could see me praying more than papa adeboye. Infact after the episode I asked myself if I could pray that much.lol.
We had gone to oakbend on Williams way campus to inspect the facility before that day so everything was familiar. The nurses were very helpful, especially nurse busola a Nigerian. Dr fagbohun also kept checking on us,one of his doctors an inidan named Sherry took the delivery. I see a lot of confusion around Dr Fagbohun’s practice and I wanna address them as I see many people insisting on staying in Richmond to birth. Fagbohun has 4 clinics where you can have your prenatal visits, these clinics are spread across Houston, Sugarland and 2 in Richmond. I live close to Sugarland so we selected that option; I have also visited the one in Richmond before. Oakbend itself has about 3 hospitals in Richmond but you will deliver at Williams way campus.
Dr fagbohun (The big boy) is actually the medical director of the Oakbend hospital located on the Williams way campus. He presently has 4 doctors on his payroll and he told me he is planning to employ one more this year. He shuttles around the 4 clinics and insists on meeting his clients at their clinic visits, honestly I don’t know where he gets the strength from. This man has an average of 15 clients in each clinic per day. He also personally answer your emails, he doesn’t delegate that one too. He is a stakeholder in Oakbend, so on the average if 15 people are admitted, his own client may be like 8 while other doctors share the rest. But at every time he has at least one of his doctors on duty. He told me he has delivered 4,000 babies till date. The man is actually experienced and too sure of himself. Which brings me to his major weakness, overconfidence but not arrogance as he is very playful, lol.
I selected him not really because of the money but I wanted someone I could relate with and I needed someone that could help negotiate my bills incase of any complications. We actually had a quarrel before we became friends because his preferred method of delivery is induction, so my wife was scheduled for induction at 39 weeks before her due date. I guess because of his busy schedule, he wants to attend every birth but we weren’t hell bent on having him around. So as a JJC I wanted to get a better explanation on this induction method but he wasn’t on duty when we got to the hospital, our phone conversation resulted in an argument. We returned back home on the day of initial induction, Dec 28th and decided to wait till my wife’s EDD was past. A couple of NL members used induction successfully though, so it’s a 50/50 thing, it can lead to natural birth or CS. He won’t force you to induce except there is a risk to the baby, so you have to let him know what you want early enough. We finally induced after my wife’s due date and we thank God it was successful.
I will write the final chapter of my diary when I finish documentation and get the zero balance from Oakbend. My BC will be ready today, it was processed on the 8th.
I have been getting lots of love from NL members. Special shout out to the Houston crew for keeping it real. Special appreciation to Naniakay for visiting us with pepper soup and gifts on Saturday.
Congrats to the new Visa Receivers and The new babies in the House.
@GENOMI: my friend everything happens for a reason. We need to be grateful. What if the water broke when you were airborne?
@Princeadeade and Ritdan, I won’t advise you to book shadowbrooke except you have cash to burn. It’s a beautiful environment though. We pay like $2000 dollars per month for a 3 bedroom flat , which is not inclusive of utility bills and furnishings and we were properly ripped off by the Nigerian-American agent who thought we were adenuga’s children (story for another day). We had to pay 3 full months that we didn’t use. I and Genomi were supposed to be flat mates so she can bear witness. If you insist I will give their details though. I helped some Nairaland members check out a place on highway 6, I will send the details to you too. Cheers congratulationsss my broda, will call u soon |

Thank you for your email.
Your B-class visa does not entitle you to entrance to the United States—it simply entitles you to arrive at a port-of-entry to the United States and apply for admission to an officer of the Customs and Border Protection (CBP) unit on duty there. The Customs and Border Protection, a branch of USCIS, determines a traveler’s eligibility of entry to the U.S, you should be prepared to demonstrate to the immigration officer at the port of entry why you are seeking medical treatment and that you have logistical and financial plans for the treatment.
We recommend that you review the regulations on non-immigrant aliens entering the United States for purposes of childbirth at http://redirect.state.sbu/?url=https://help.cbp.gov/app/answers/detail/a_id/882/~/visit-the-u.s.-while-pregnant-and-the-risks-involved and plan accordingly. Please you should not stay in the U.S. longer than you are permitted by Customs and Border Protection at the port of entry. The Department of Homeland Security at the port of entry will determine your eligibility to enter the United States on any travel.
If you choose to give birth in the U.S., we advise you to bring evidence of payment, both when you enter the U.S. on this visit, and at your future U.S. visa interviews.

Dear Madam,
Thank you for your inquiry. Before you travel to the United States to have a child you should make the appropriate preparations, including an appointment with a healthcare provider, detailed information about where you will receive your medical services, and an estimate of the financial costs. Immigration officials may ask for this information upon your arrival. Healthcare in the United States is expensive. Costs associated with child birth are high and can escalate quickly if there are complications. You are expected to pay all costs associated with the medical services received. Retain an itemized statement of account from your healthcare provider that outlines all of the charges from your care and receipt of your payment.
We hope this information is helpful to you. Congratulations to you and your family.
Best Regards,
Consular Section
This email is UNCLASSIFIED.
I will print that of Abuja and use at the point of entry. pls which email did you use to contact them |

kykes: As promised, this is my story.
I flew BA cos I love them and wanted to boost my mileage. My travel scripture was John 10:9 so I was ready to enjoy all round favour. I had earlier requested for wheel chair or buggy assistance.
got to the airport at 8.00pm flight was for 11:30pm. Filled my e bola form and checked in. Presented my fit to fly letter. No questions asked and hubby made a photocopy for them. They asked us to come back to the desk at 9.30pm so someone can escort me to fast track. We were asked to go rest at the FAAN customers service area with a/c and TV till I was ready to go in. Please take advantage of this so u Dont stand n sweat for nothing.
as a preggy, I was one of the first to board the plane. Food was good and crew very helpful. Slept throughout the journey and landed Heathrow 6.00am naija time. Went to freshen up and went to get my buggy ride. I was taken to a nice lounge to chill where i could charge my phones and eat but there was no shower. Then hunger set in. Used my zenith master card to quench it and the rate was good. When it was time, I was driven to my boarding gate for houston. While ppl were waiting I was fastracked and asked to board the plane first with the elderly n children really feeling special with my economy ticket.
then the 9 and a half hr journey began. I wore my compression socks cos my ankles were swollen after d lagos London journey. I must hv slept n woke up 50 times and we hadn't reached anywhere. I wanted to cry. For those flying with children I 'dobale' for una o. I just kept singing worship songs, playing sudoku and dozing off in between. We eventually landed and my wheelchair was waiting for me as I stepped out of the plane. Since we landed in the afternoon I knew lots of airlines would hv landed as well so there would be crazy queues so I borrowed my self brain and sat on the wheelchair. I was wheeled to the front of one of the queues.
Questions asked by cbp What are you here for? did u tell them at the embassy dat u were coming to give birth? are you travelling alone? how much do u hv on u? I had a little over 9000 She said I shouldn't bring out the money what do u do? did u bring food? when did u get ur visa? how long will u be staying? can I see your ticket? They want to be sure it's not a one way ticket
Everything takes about 7 mins. she says it's okay but that her colleague will take me for secondary inspection. I'm wheeled to secondary inspection n then I saw the crowd then I began to thank God for wheelchair wisdom. They hand my file to a lady who keys in my details and passes it to some male officers. They r all laughing and deliberately delaying people but I later learn it's an act to study ppls behaviour. After 10 mins, I bring out my shiloh mantle and wipe my face 3 times. I no get time....i gat to activate my heavenly powers. Immediately the lady who keyed in my details gets up and rearranges the files, placing my file first and drops it for the officer. Next thing, they call me.
Questions asked are you gonna be using reddington hospital? Of course not. That's my hospital in Nigeria. What hospital will you be using? Whmc Whose your doctor? Dr. Zimmerman (though I just used his letter for show) how did u hear about him? Google How much is he charging? 2600 for twins And the hospital? The bill is with you. i know but i need you to confirm? 4800 for cs. how much do u hv? A little over 9000. how did u come about the money? Btw i n my husband Wot do you do? What does your husband do? When i tell him he goes 'oooooh'. It all ends in 5 mins. Does some typing and stamps me in for 6 months. Don't forget to get all your receipts he says.
na so them wheel me to the carousel for my baggage and wheel me even up to my uncles car cos the Mexican woman wan collect tip. I get home and find in my box a body shop scrub dats not mine. Apparently they searched my box even though it was padlocked. Everything was intact even the food items I brought. Thanks anyway for the scrub it will remove the 'wowoness' wey dey my face.
dazall!
Thanks nairalanders. congrats on your Poe,pls can you send me dr Zimmerman email address,av sent you pm.pls I will be waiting |
