COVID-19 is caused by a virus and malaria is caused by a protozoa. The body immune cells that attack and keep vigilance against malaria parasite can't mount response against an unknown entity cos it's new to the system.

Like the ncdc dg said before states aren't sending samples for testing. Akwa ibom just had their own testing lab so maybe it'll increase testing of samples in the state.
