Tell me why any other business would like to do business in Nigeria after what has happened to MTN and Etisalat. They want to chase MTN out as they did etisalat so they can share it among their cronies.
Tell them, o! shocked Nigerian govt want Foreign Direct Investment (FDI), yet they are not willing to let those foreign firms repatriate their profits. Tell me, what kind of signals they are sending to the international community, with such witch-hunting tactics.

Pioneer status is only in regard to profit on normal operation! Where did you hear that government waived import duty, VAT or withholding tax on dividend paid to foreign investors? Also, their pioneer status ended in 2011.
Oga, please read my initial post with understanding, before you jump to vague conclusions. sad Govt claims MTN did not pay taxes for 10 years, which is highly improbable. MTN cannot be held liable for not paying import duty, as their telecoms equipment were imported by their sub-contractors, and NOT directly by MTN! shocked You need to look at their sub-contractors like Siemens, Ericsson, Vodacom, Reime, Harris Communications, etc who imported, installed and maintained telecoms equipment such as masts, switching centres, Base Transceiver Sites (BTS), antennae etc., at MTN sites.

If you go to Cash N'Carry to buy a Panasonic air-conditioner, should the govt ask you whether you paid import duty on it, and tell you to go and bring evidence of import duty paid? huh Or should they go to the company or importer who brought such goods into the country, and then sold it to you, to ask for such evidence of import duty? Which option is the correct one? shocked

If MTN did not pay WHT for 10 years, how did it escape the notice of the tax authorities all through those 10 years??! shocked People need to ask relevant questions, please! undecided Their annual reports have always been published both locally and internationally, so why wasn't it challenged since by govt? Where did MTN get the figures they have been posting under payment of taxes, and how come no govt agency ever challenged it all this while?

Firstly, you don't know my age

Secondly, you don't know numbers of years we've been friend together

You don't know the year the incident happens

You don't know my current marital status

You mean a working class grown up man of 29years can't ask out a working lady of 27years after being friend for 3years & some months? Do you realize these happened many years ago?
Its better for you to STFU instead of spewing shit
Why are you getting worked up? shocked In your previous response, did you mention the number of years you had known the lady? NO! So unless you assume that everyone who reads your story is psychic, they would not be able to know the length of time you had known her and would have given you a response, based on the facts outlined in your previous post.

Secondly, 29 years is still a young age. Or do you want to drag old age with Methuselah at 29? cheesy

Finally, if after knowing her for 3 years you still toasted her and she said you did not fit her spec, (because you were not the type of guy she likes), then it means that in those 3 years you did not take out time to study her preferences, properly. If u had read my comment properly, u would have understood what I said.

Ur second paragraph is totally out of point with my assertions earlier, I don't think I can answer them because they are not in line with my thought.

BTW, no man has a woman beater bill written on his forehead, they are the smartest when going out for a lady. They know how to scheme their ways into the life of these innocent ladies by studying their strengths and weaknesses and always ready to strike when the guard is down.

Ur narrative just fulfilled the complete attribute of a woman beater, no offense intended.
You obviously did not read my comments properly. sad You implied that women who do not like calm and gentle guys end up with wife beaters. No man has wife beater written on his forehead, but many women can easily spot the signs of a wife beater, before their relationship goes far. Is he aggressive and prone to violence? Does he settle scores with his fists, even among his male friends? Does he raise his voice, anytime there is a mild argument? All these are signs. Another thing is that wife beating does not start in one day, with a bashing. It starts from a small slap. And any wise woman would immediately avoid such a man, once she spots the signs.

As for the 2nd paragraph it is totally in line with what you had earlier said, unless you prefer to play the ostrich, and hide from the truth. How can you meet a girl today, ask her out the next day and expect her to jump and say "Yes," to you automatically, without thinking it through? shocked And if you have taken out time to study such a girl, you would know the kind of preferences she has and whether she would likely say "Yes," to dating a calm and gentle guy, or a popular and loud fellow.

The truth is that every lady in Nigeria wants a man that is wealthy or has a lot of money to throw around. They easily ignore the ones that are struggling to make it and have a great future/vision. I've been on both sides of the coin(struggling at a point in my life and then living comfortably now) and I know what ladies reaction are. To be honest, most of the guys you call Bleep boys are actually not. Guys reason logically and no guy messes around with a good-natured lady who has something more than sex to offer in a relationship.
Speak for yourself. sad There are many guys that have messed around in the recent past with good-natured girls and dumped them, after having their fill. There are men who are still doing so, even till now. So kindly do not generalise. I have a number of respectful, good-natured female friends who have been victims of such shenanigans by men, and have been left with a bitter aftertaste, after such relationships ended.

Some men see such good, respectful, hardworking girls as weak, so they take advantage of them. What one man sees as gold, may be viewed as brass, by another. Perspectives differ, so do values and mindsets. undecided

smeag0l:
It will shock you to know that majority of the ladies that come online to announce how men are scum are jobless, lack intellect and ambition and have nothing other than sex to offer in a relationship and it doesn't take a guy more than three outings with the girl to discover this. The other reason why a guy beats his wife or girlfriend, apart from the fact that the guy is naturally violent, is because he married or is dating a slayqueen who only channels or her efforts into caring about how she looks and nothing more. She feels entitled and believes her physical or facial beauty is the reason why the guy should spend on her.
Nothing gives any man, the right to beat up a woman. angry It is crass, clueless thinking that makes a man think he has a right to beat up a woman, simply because she is his girlfriend or wife. Why don't you just walk away from her, if you do not like her attitude? Real men retain control of their emotions. undecided

smeag0l:
I have a lot of female friends that are quite wealthy and working class ladies. Many are married because they decided not to unrealistically set astronomical standards for men. The few that aren't married actually made this same mistake and are trying to correct it now. Stop listening to social media rants from ladies who claim to be ill-treated by guys- Many of them have no jobs and only rely on the men for everything.

Sadly, majority of guys can differentiate between ladies that can add value to them and those that will set them back. The other day, I was reading a post here on Ifu Ennada talking about how she needs a boyfriend. My first thought was, "What job does this lady do or what is her profession? If I want to date her what value will she be adding to my life?" I found it difficult to answer these questions. Same with Linda Ikeji. She's a blogger but I know how much bloggers make on the average. Are her own fingers laced with diamond that her income seem to be in wide variance with other super bloggers?

Have you ever thought about why the likes of Mercy Aigbe, Rita Dominic, Genevieve Nnaji and other female actresses flaunt a lot of wealth while their male counterparts that are quite as good if not better are just struggling to barely live comfortably? And you come here to say that these ladies are rich and comfortable but guys aren't coming. Which sane man wants to date a corporate prostitute?Guys know these things even if nobody says them. No man(both rich and poor) wants to marry a lady that with either not impact his life or may even send him to his early grave.
There are women who dated and married men they liked, who were not necessarily rich, but had vision and potential. sad Some of those marriages worked, others did not. Today, how many young men have vision or potential, and can actively communicate that vision to others, or are working hard to bring it to pass? huh Very few. Some will tell a woman - "Oh I want to be rich and make it big." Ask him 'How?' He starts blabbing, looking at the ceiling, but cannot give you one viable business plan or project he has researched and done some active studies on, in order to convince anyone to invest in him. undecided

Several others are just running from pillar to post, after get-rich-quick schemes, that do not hold any value or promise. While some are busy looking for handouts from rich uncles or benefactors, in order to make it big. sad Only very few are concentrating on legit worthwhile projects, that are well-structured or defined, and serve as a viable source of income. I have said it before - Women look at a man's potential, before taking decisions.

The way a man treats a lady, is a reflection of the kind of upbringing he has been given by his parents and/or family members, and is not dependent on how much a woman earns, or does not earn. sad

But the real question is this: "Why are men intimidated by successful women, and assume that all such women are into runs or prostitution?" There are women who are not actresses or celebrities, but independent hardworking ladies, who made their money in a legit way, yet men still assume that such women must have had a male benefactor or something, to strike it big. sad Hello? huh Doesn't education, intelligence, skill, aptitude, hardwork and ability to spot good business opportunities count for anything, anymore? shocked Are you saying most independently wealthy women, cannot use their intelligence and business acumen to make a good life for themselves?

If you suspect that a woman has a shady lifestyle and is living larger than her income, by all means avoid her. But to taint all women with the same brush is bad. Not all rich babes are oloshos. sadMy neighbour's daughter is a classic example. She studied abroad, came back to Naija and joined her mum in the lace fabrics & aso-oke trade. But she modernised her own, and included exotic designs from Thailand, Korea and Austria.

Today she earns 3 times what her mum used to earn from the same commodity, and lives in a cute 2-bedroom flat in VGC in addition to owning her own SUV. But people see such things, and automatically assume that such a girl must have a rich sugar daddy somewhere, when that is not the case. Her ex-boyfriend was even the one who scammed her of 1.5 million and took off, with her money after convincing her to open a business together. undecided See life?

This is the problem in this country. U people will just use d actions of a selected few to condemn the whole which is unfair. This is my reason I don't condemn females because I know there are angels among them.
Besides, we only see what we want to see.

BTW, most Nigerian ladies prefer these women beaters.

They reject gentlemen claiming they are too calm and not swagged enough and accept the advances of their "fantasy" swag guys who later add them to their list of preys.

I know of a lady who rejected a guy claiming he was too calm and gentle for another guy. Right now, she's still praying and looking for a man after she has been used and dumped while the other guy has gotten married.

U claim the guys are not good, what can u say about the ladies?
No woman prefers a woman beater, unless she is a masochist. sad And not all women are masochists.

Secondly, any man who gets turned down by a girl, because he is "too calm and not swagged enough or too gentle," is a clueless toad. angry Why? undecided Before approaching such a girl, you should have studied her to know if she would prefer a calm & gentle guy as a boyfriend, or a rugged and domineering individual, as a soulmate.

From the way she talks, the kind of examples she uses, the type of people she admires, you should be able to tell what kind of person she would like to hang out with, and the kind of people she avoids! shocked But most guys do not like doing any form of research, on a girl they want to date. women that fail to realize the truth or understand how a man thinks stick to this opinion the reason is because men chose to be irresponsible- do you know there is a girl that will sleep with that “irresponsible” man for a loaf of bread? Thus he doesn’t see any value in a woman because his mindset is bleeped up. It is not a problem that peculiar to one gender. It is a problem that is peculiar to us as a people. The women see a man as the means to meet their fianancial needs, the man sees the woman as a slave and sex object. It is a mind problem. When auch Women are someway financially independent, they feel they don’t need a man and no sense of wisdom to guide them. Same with the man, he feels he can get any woman to disrespect as long as he has few notes to spend. We need to have the right mind set and understand the main reason for relationships. The main reason is to achieve greater grounds and bigger goals. The. I left says one shall chase a thousand, 2 ten thousands. Investors don’t invest in individuals, they invest in teams. Teams don’t work well if they don’t have the right mindset!
Try to understand her point. sad Yes, a lady can "sleep" with an irresponsible man for a loaf of bread, but would she gladly marry and settle down with that same irresponsible man for a lifetime, knowing his true nature? The answer is likely to be 'NO.' The same goes for men, too. They can sleep with a girl as a quick lay, but would they marry her and keep her as the mother of their children for a lifetime? Manage It Like That (MILT) — A Nigerian story by Editi Effiong

Everyone in Nigeria has heard or experienced the phrase “Manage It Like That”. Except you have just dropped out of the abroad into Nigerian airspace, it is virtually impossible to have regular interaction with Nigerians over the course of 24 hours without interacting with this phrase, either verbally or in action.

If you are the (un)lucky human who just fell into the Nigerian airspace, and on account of that have never experienced “Manage It Like That”, introductions are in order. If it’s night in the sky, look over the city you’re about to land on. Is there light? No? You will have to learn to manage it like that. If it’s daytime, it’s only fair to warn you that the motif of dirty roofs you just saw on the outside borders of the mega city you’re about to make an acquaintance with is not an an art project. Na there we dey live. Manage it like that.

If you slept through your flight and missed the welcome in the last paragraph, well, prepare for the smell as you emerge from the plane into our terminal. It’s terrible, a mixture of fermented urine, unclean toilets and humans with selective interactions with baths — the smell is almost toxic. But you will not die, nobody does. Just manage. Welcome to Naija.

MILT — A Definition

Manage It Like That (MILT) is a Nigerian phrase that expresses the heart and soul of service delivery in Nigeria. It means take it as you see it, and means just that. The word ‘manage’ implies “this isn’t ideal, we know, but by all means make do, because we’re not about offering a substitute”.....

....... After all, we’re Nigerians — government can manage it like that.

What I have discovered is that when you are NOT willing to "Manage-It-Like-That," you are the target of jibes, accusations and vengeful attacks from without and within. Next, you lose a lot of valuable time, money, effort and resources trying to correct the wrongs, or trying to set things right, just because you do not want to "Manage-It-Like-That." what happened to the 13per cent derivation they've been collecting, the allocations since 1999 till date..with nddc and a ministry.yet, nothing to show for it...corruption in nigeria is an existential necessity, exhibited in it highest level by niger delta leaders.and someone is busy putting up pics,to attract pity or what.when money that is enough to turn niger delta into a region to be admired by others, are been squandered by the same people many celebrates today...rather,what we have is a monumental slum..shame on them.
Tell dem, o! shocked The greedy ND leaders and clueless ND militants, have turned the land, creeks and waterways within the region, into a cesspit. If the people living within the ND are the ones blowing up the pipelines and polluting their environment, what magic do they think the govt will do to improve the area overnight?

The resources that have been pumped into the ND region till date have disappeared into a few greedy hands. Think of all the "development levies," matching ground fees, community levy etc, that they keep demanding over and over - where does it go to? Including the 13% derivation fund... what has it been used for all these years? Even if you take all the money from the crude and give it to them, nothing will change, except their mindset changes! angry "He that is not faithful in little, can never be faithful when he gets much..." Na Bible talk am! shocked

Sharpshooota:
This is what you get when you site headquarters of oil companies in other regions...

It's not fair to the Niger delta
Stop that rawbbish please! angry The operational offices and massive housing estates of the oil firms, are situated firmly in the ND. Who are those polluting the environment of the ND, and turning it into a mess? Isn't it the ND militants, themselves? You want to make a mess of your environment, and expect outsiders to continue cleaning it up for you? Get real! sad

mu2sa2:
Who's to blame? - those blowing the pipelines thereby causing massive pollution or those refusing to clean up the mess.
ireke:
Take it or leave it, these people are wreaking more havoc on their own environment than the oil companies.

Unfortunately there is a possibility that the oil companies and Nigerian government will recover from the loss of revenue but the damage to their environment will remain unabated for a long time to come.

Even the mumu commander self that was throwing diesel into the environment to avoid it from spoiling cars in the city doesn't know the impact of his actions.
Don't mind dem! angry Instead of protecting their environment, they are busy blowing up the pipelines and polluting it....

Back in 2007, when the subprime mess ( the financial meltdown) hit the global economy, Home owners in the US cried blue because, the value of their houses plummeted astronomically. Brother, visit this link to clear your doubt https://www.richdad.com/Resources/Rich-Dad-Financial-Education-Blog/August-2010/repeat-after-me-your-house-is-not-an-asset.aspx
Not in Nigeria, and most especially not in Lagos. sad Property prices always appreciate, in Nigerian cities. The law of diminishing returns does not affect Naija real estate. undecided

What is this so-called "maltreatment of wives" everybody keep singing about? My dad never maltreated my mum and before he died, he thanked her for giving him the best of lives as a spouse and blessed her. More than 40 years they were together. So I don't understand it really.
Try and understand the point he is making. undecided When the bride price is rather high, it makes a guy feel as if he is purchasing a commodity, rather than marrying a wife. And if he sees the woman as a commodity or a piece of property, the tendency to misuse or maltreat her, is high. Afterall, he would think that he 'paid' for her...in other words "na my money." wink The bride price in your mum's village many years ago, was probably not as high as it is today, that is why your dad never saw her as a piece of property.

There's nothing here - wait until you see which among other things includes 3 live goat, 200litres of palm wine etc

Most probably Eggon or Agatu if it's bags of beans and goat you saw. So many tribes in Nasarawa that can be mistaken for Hausa by ignorant southerners.
Help me tell am, o! shocked Some clowns just think that anyone from any part of the North is Hausa. In Nassarawa, you have more than 9 different ethnic groups. From the Eggon, the Bassa, the Duhwa, Ebira, Eloyi, Wappan, Goemai, Ninzam, Tiv, Koffyar, Agatu etc, different indigenous ethnic groups exist within the state.

This is the more reason I believe that 99.9 % of girls are very jealous of their fellow girls' achievements!
Oga, you do not know my gender, o! What makes you think I am a girl? As a rational, logical human being you need to critically look at the info you have been given, before swallowing it hook, line and sinker. sad

First, what work did Toke Makinwa do that could fetch her 260 million? shocked She used to be a presenter on Ebony Life TV. How much is her annual salary? Most people have an idea of how much OAP's get, per annum. And it is definitely not in the region of 260 million. undecided

Secondly, she is a vlogger. How much has she earned from vlogging? sad Those who know, have declared that it cannot be up to one-tenth of 260 million naira.

Thirdly, she wrote a book. What is the print run of the book? How many copies has she sold? huh

Oga, unless you have facts and figures to justify how her annual income over the years could have reached 260 million naira, you have no business applauding her, if you are told she bought a house of that amount! shocked Only a 'mugu would fall for Toke's story....
