Giving the Imam a handshake for the heroic feat he did is utter nansense! angry He deserves far much more! shocked Saving 300 people in one day from being killed, na beans? huh And he also had the courage to look the marauders in the eye, and refuse to release them. It takes sheer courage to do that. Yet he did this, at the risk to his own life. How many people would do the same thing today for a neighbour, talk less of strangers they hardly know?

Abeg, PMB and the state governor should dash the man the following items, for a start: sad

1). A 5-bedroom detached duplex on an acre of land in any choice location, within the state;

2). A pension for life, that runs into hundreds of thousands, per annum undecided

3). Free life insurance and scholarships for all his children.

Call it bad belle, I'll call it business and we'll be ok. Ajaokuta producing steel was the product of illiterate military dictators who have never been in business. The STEEL PLANT is over 40 years old now and it wasn't until the last admin that anyone thought to put rail there. If you make a product you need a way to move it to the market. Only they previous admin didn't want to move it to the market, they wanted to move it to Warri and that at best people can put the steal on a boat then try to move it to market. Forget about getting it to Kano or Abuja.

You're not going to export steel for a country that imports steel lol. Worst, you're not going to sell steal to your own 'countrymen' if it's just as easy from them to get european and chinese steel because both products still have to enter a boat and go to Lagos.

But on a serious note: PMB should stop that nansense of giving the guy, a handshake and national honour. angry That is too small, for what the man has done. Saving the lives of 300 people at a go, by hiding them from marauders that would have snuffed them out, is not an easy feat! shocked After all, how much is a human life worth? It is priceless.

Something more tangible and heroic, should be done for this man. undecided Giving him a 5-bedroom detached duplex of Julius Berger standard, as well as a pension for life that runs into 6-zeros, is a start. Then a national monument should be named after him. Free scholarships for his children should be thrown into the bargain.

If Warri is an evacuation point and lagos is the biggest market in Nigeria then

Refine Ore > Make Steel > Put on train > put on boat > Land at Apapa > drive to destination

If the rail road when connected Ajaokuta to Lagos then it's

Refine Ore > Make Steel > Put on Train > Drive to destination

which one of these chains produces cheaper faster steel?

If I make steel in Belgium and sell it to Lagos I will

Refine Ore > Make Steel > Put on boat > Land in Apapa > Drive to Destination

Meaning it's easier to buy steal from EUROPE for a Lagosian than useless Ajaokuta that will never succeed.
If each of the previous military and civilian regimes, that ruled Nigeria over the past 20 years had completed Ajaokuta and made it functional, you would not be recycling this flatulent bad-belle, you have against Ajaokuta. Markets can be created, in different places. Who says Warri could not have become a thriving hub for steel if both Delta Steel & Ajaokuta, were allowed to operate?

What is wrong if Ajaokuta produces steel > transports finished steel products by rail to Warri > steel products then exported from Warri seaport directly overseas? Would it be a crime? huh Once the Warri port is properly dredged, this can be achieved.

Or if Ajaokuta produces steel > transports by rail to Warri > evacuated by barges/boat to domestic ports in Lagos, Port-harcourt, Onne for use in local markets & factories? Would this be wrong? huh

The baby won't be biologically her's. It will be the woman's egg and man's sperm embryo implanted into her. She can never lay claim on such baby. Besides, there will be a lot of legal paperwork involved.
Not always so. Sometimes, the wife may not be producing eggs, and donor eggs may have to be used. sad In this case, the surrogate mother's own, might come into play.

echodrum:
Did you not read the part where he mentioned that the reason is best known to them and their Doctor. what exactly is surrogacy? what is wrong with it? and how is it western media influenced?
He is already on the right path by asking whether or not surrogacy is legal in Nigeria. if it is legal, then there is nothing wrong at all. Depending on the type of surrogacy he wants ( traditional or gestational surrogacy) in traditional surrogacy, the man's sperm and the surrogate egg are used and that genetically makes the surrogate a partial owner of the baby. But in gestational surrogacy, the couple's egg and sperm are used which make them by genetics, a 100% owner of the baby. Gestational surrogacy is preferable, since both couple's egg and sperm is used to make the baby unless otherwise. If you can't call IVF, family planning western media influenced, I don't see any reason why you should categorize surrogacy as western media influenced. Things like white wedding and baby showers are the type of things we should castigate as western media influenced.
Thank you! This is what I was trying to explain earlier. cheesy

I have to put this simply. Steel mills are built near deposits. Then they are connected to markets using rail. Or you can build a rail road to the site, and put the plant where the market it as. putting a steel mill an Ajeokuta, which was geographically isolated for the major markets of the country (Lagos, Aba, PH, Onitsha, Enugu, Kaduna, Kano, Ibadan, Benin, (at the time) Jos, Calabar, Iilorin etc) was the first mistake among many. Then, instead of realizing this was a mistake, you build a railroad connecting Warri to this same dead place as if the DEMAND FOR STEEL exists in Warri.

AGAIN. When you build a RAILROAD, you connect PRODUCTS to MARKETS. When the colonists build the railroads they connected LAGOS and KANO, ENUGU to PORT HARCOURT. You're now connecting Ajaokuta to Warri. Why?

Why is this important: If I make a steel beam in Ajaokuta (which nobody ever will because it's a dead project), I will put it on a train, sent it to Warri. Put it on a boat, send it to Lagos, reach Lagos, drive to the destination. How much do you think Ajaokuta will have to sell this steel to make a profit?

think people.
Oga, go back and read my previous post. I have added some more info to it. sad Study the history of industrialised places like Pennsylvania in the United States, and you will see that the points you made, are invalid. In most countries, steel mills are built close to where the iron ore deposits are located. Then the rail roads also spring up alongside such mills, in order to evacuate the product. undecided

A railway line was constructed from Ajaokuta to Warri simultaneously, when the steel mill was being built there. sad If the construction of Ajaokuta had not been stopped, that rail line would have been functional and used to evacuate the finished steel products from Ajaokuta, and also used to transport iron ore to Delta Steel, Aladja.
TravelRe: Map Of The Itakpe - Ajaokuta - Warri Rail Line Corridors And Future Extensions by LaudableXX:
Ofodirinwa:
Have you bought steel for Ajeokuta? Where did you see ajeokuta produce steel? Wasn't putting ajeokuta in a dead, unproductive city away from customers the beginning of the problem?
Are you for real? huh In how many places are steel mills established, right within the centre of a city? undecided What usually happens, is that steel mills are located in areas where there is an abundance of raw materials called iron ore, which are the vital components for making steel.

When such steel mills are set up, other commercial ancillary businesses develop, to service the needs of the steel workers, customers, distributors and logistic teams, that patronise the place. sad In addition, rail lines are used to evacuate the finished products, or barges are used to freight the finished steel plates from the mills, if such a mill is located close to a sea port or waterway.

Over time, those commercial activities which sprout up around the mill, attract more people to the place and a mini-city or urbanised settlement develops, in proximity to such mills. sad

Have you ever been to Ajaokuta before? huh It has a huge deposit of iron ore, which is the raw material used as feedstock for steel mills. The iron mines at Itakpe, were meant to produce iron ore for the steel mill at Ajaokuta. undecided

Iron is currently being mined at Itakpe (Kogi State), which is more or less at the center of the region of crystalline iron deposits. The purest deposits are found within and around that area. Not only that, there are still over 3 billion tonnes of iron ore found in Kogi, Enugu, Niger, Zamfara and Kaduna States.

“Iron ores of diverse origin and quality are found in Nigeria, with the purest and largest reserve found in Itakpe, Kogi State, where proven Iron Ore reserves are in excess of 200 million tonnes, grading in ferrous (Fe) content from 25 – 50 percent, and could be up to 70 percent.

The true reserve of the deposit is yet to be quantified. In addition to Itakpe deposit, large reserves of sedimentary iron ore are exposed at Igbaja area in Kogi State, holding excess of 30.5 million tons of iron with an average assays of 50 per cent Fe (high of 85 per cent Fe) and economic percentage of phosphorous and alumina that can be processed as by-products.

The announcement in 2012, by Australian explorer, Dr. Ian Burston, Chairman of Energio of the discovery of huge Iron Ore deposits in Kogi State, should be an eye opener to Nigeria and investors considering the options of starching funds abroad or wanting to import products from other economies to look inwards

According to the company, the discovery of 488 million tons in its 100 percent-owned Igbaja Project, represents 9.2 percent of the company’s 151km2 landholding for Iron.

In a statement by Energio, the discovery was the first ever JORC Iron Ore resources discovery in Nigeria and is bound to change the pace of iron ore development in mineral rich West African country.Indeed, the Australian Stock Exchange -listed firm informed the Australian Securities that the resources update on the Agbaja project, would be released. https://www.hellenicshippingnews.com/nigeria-investment-opportunities-in-iron-ore-mining/
In America, some of the largest and earliest steel mills were established in Pennsylvania, which had a large deposit of iron ore. sad The western part of the state was also located close to Minnesota and Wisconsin. Both areas also had coal in abundance, and the coal was used to remove the impurities in the iron ore. Apart from that,Pennsylvania was located close to waterways and railroads, so it was easy to evacuate the finished steel products by rail, or by by vessel. Rapid industrial development took place in this region, and till date the growth of the city owes much to the its earliest steel mills. undecided

Tell the Delta and Ajaokuta steel story to people who know nothing about state of things around those facilities. You want to ‘connect’ dead historical facilities that never operated while Trucks keep deforming our road networks to move imported goods from Lagos to major cities around the country.

You want to connect Delta and Ajaokuta when trucks spend days to move food, cattle and grains from North to other parts of the country through bad roads. A living brain would connect Lagos-Extreme North, North -East and West-East; each route trailing the middle belt.

I don’t blame you, I blame those you work for.
When people try to educate you, you need to listen.

1). When that rail line was originally planned, it was meant to link Ajaokuta steel in Kogi, to Delta Steel in Aladja within Delta state. wink The concept was to move steel ingots, feedstock, ore and finished steel products, from both locations via rail.

2). The railway line was already about 80% completed, before both firms were shut down. undecided The rail tracks have remained unutilised until recently, when govt decided to complete it.

3). Now, it does not make any economic or commercial sense, to continue abandoning a rail line that was almost completed years ago. sad It would be better to revive it, don't you think so? A decision was therefore made to complete the railway line, and use it to transport goods and passengers from Warri (through other towns in the SS), to the North-Central area from where they could easily commute to Abuja, and other parts of the North. This would reduce the burden on the roads, and eliminate the attendant insecurity that passengers experience, while commuting on the poor highways linking both areas.

4). By the time the railway is extended to Abuja and other parts of the country, the expectation is that it would ease movement of cargo across both regions, and cut down the number of large trucks and heavy-duty trailers on that route. sad

Cattle, foodstuff and other forms of livestock can still be transported from the North down to the North-Central region by road, from where it can then be moved by rail to the SS, and maybe further down to the SE, if adequate transportation by road from Warri is made. Logistics would be easier to manage in such cases, as distance would be reduced, due to the rail connection.

5). Hopefully, by the time the railway line starts operating, federal govt will have to dredge Warri seaport so that cargo can be moved by barges directly to the seaport. From there, it can be transferred through rail, to the North. undecided

Now is this tutorial simple enough for you to understand, or do you need more explanation? huh Kindly note: further tutorials would not be free, so get your foreign currency ready, as I only accept tuition fees in US dollars. cool

Blue3k2:
The Abuja – Kaduna railway services has raked in over N1.1 billion in its first two years of operation, LEADERSHIP Weekend investigation has showed. Data obtained by our reporter showed that the station, which currently operates with 15 coaches, dedicates three to four coaches to baggage, while the remaining 11 coaches are dedicated to passengers.

It was also discovered that in the last two years, the station has transported about 900, 000 passengers along the Abuja – Kaduna route at an average price of N1, 300.

However, the manager of the Abuja – Kaduna train service of the Nigeria Railway Corporation, Pascal Nnoli, explained that there are first class services ranging between N2, 500 to N3, 000.

“Before 2016, we didn’t have any available operational standard gauge rail in West Africa. This was the first one and here we are today, carrying an average of 2000 passengers’ everyday through and fro Kaduna. For two years, we have transported about 900, 000 passengers as at July 24,” Nnoli explained.

On the frequency, he said there are two racks, one from Rigasa, which starts from 6:40 and a second one from Idu station, which leaves by 7am. Both operate four times daily.

Honestly, this railway project is one that deserves commendation. undecided I hear that travel time from Abuja to Kaduna by train is just a little over 1 hour.

But the Nigerian Police Force and the armed forces really need to do something serious, about the current state of security in Rigasa, Kaduna state. It is a flashpoint for violence and many residents do not feel safe there, due to constant reports of armed robbery, mugging, rape, killings and other evil acts. shocked If the insecurity continues, then many people would be dissuaded from further patronising the rail service.

Rigasa is one of the most backward localities in Kaduna state, due to the lack of infrastructure & amenities in that town. sad There is a governor in charge of Kaduna State called El-Rufai.
