Bifwoli: Better in the fact that there's far less inequality in south east. An Igbo can go live in Malaysia ,Texas ,South Africa or Brazil and still thrive independently while you people only " thrive" in only one region due to peddling influence ,connections to powerful people etc.Two unclean billionaires amidst a sea of paupers is nothing to be proud of. Surely you jest? Since when has migration been regarded as a sign of affluence? People who stay within their own region have their reasons for doing so, and are not better or worse than those who move from one region to the other. The most important thing is the reason for such migration. If there is less inequality in the Southeast, why then do your people feel the need to roam around other regions and countries? Is it because they cannot make a success of themselves, or their endeavours within their own region? And please the news from Malaysia, Indonesia etc., about your people is not really something that inspires confidence, as they are often in the news, for all the wrong reasons anyway. So how can you use them as a yardstick? If people can thrive within one region, why then would they need to migrate? Isn't it rather foolhardy, to leave a successful area or enterprise, for an unknown one? |

It does not only happen in private universities. Neither does it only happen abroad. It happens in every university, including public universities within this country. By the way, why did you say it is worn only on convocation in govt universities? What is difference between convocation and graduation? I went to a public university, and we all wore academic gowns for our graduation. Check out Unilag, UniIlorin, Uniben, UniAbuja, ABU, University of Nassarawa, University of Ibadan, University of Ife, even LASU students, they all wear academic gowns for graduation!!

realhumanity: Afonja said to alimi 'If you help me fight my enemies, I will give you lands in Ilorin', that was an agreement duly signed by afonja and alimi. Afonja was the owner of ilorin lands and he gave it out to alimi, a fulani man from the north. Based on normal yorubas not being able to keep to their agreement, he was successful in fighting the ooni of ife and their armies but he later did not want to keep to his promise, that was why alimi called for help from the sokoto caliphate to chase out afonja and his brothers from ilorin totally.
You should be thankful that the alimis did not want to destroy your people completely by allowing them return to their lands. This is one of the problem of westernization, it is giving small people mind against their masters up north. Where did you read this convoluted part of your history? When did Afonja promise Alimi, lands in exchange for his help in Ilorin? Or did you just formulate this aspect? Talk quickly now, so that non-Yorubas like us can learn, whether it is true or not. It would help if you can provide a historical link or url to this your strange historical tale, so that everyone can read from the source. |

FKO81: You are through son of Oduduwa this was you post in your thread about intafact, until I exposed your lies . International brwery was bought by Sab, international brewery only produce Trophy lager, Intafact brands are Castle Milk Stout, Castle Lager, Hero, Grand Malt, Betamalt drink and Voltic Water Dr. Lawrence Omole doesn't have any contribution to Intafact, except his IB What lies? Haba!! You are the one lying through your teeth! I repeat, International Breweries was established by Lawrence Omole. Why do you like twisting the truth, which everyone can see so clearly? Nobody ever said Dr. Omole contributed anything to Intafact. You are the only one on this board who has been shouting Intafact, like a lunatic! So please stop recycling this falsehood. I know the truth is too bitter for you to swallow....so try and take some panadol to make you feel better. If that doesn't work, ask your doctor for something stronger. And point of correction, I am not a son of Oduduwa. My ancestry lies elsewhere! Let me repost this excerpt here, so you can read it clearly: International Breweries was founded in 1971 by Dr. Lawrence Omole and commenced production in December 1978 with the launch of Trophy lager. We were listed on the Nigerian Stock Exchange in 1995.
From humble beginnings, our portfolio has grown and now includes Trophy Lager, Trophy Black, Castle Milk Stout, Castle Lager, Redds, Hero, Grand Malt, Betamalt malt drink and Voltic Water.
Our brewery and corporate headquarters are located at Omi-Asoro, Ilesa in Osun State and with distribution centres in Ibadan, Lagos and Ilorin. http://www.internationalbreweriesplc.com/ International Breweries Plc was incorporated in December 1971 by its founder and first Chairman, Dr. Lawrence Omole in collaboration with some of his business associates, under the name International Breweries Limited. The Company is primarily engaged in the brewing, packaging and marketing of beer and non-alcoholic melt drinks. The Company’s product portfolio includes Trophy beer and Betamalt non-alcoholic drink.https://www.emis.com/php/company-profile/AC/International_Breweries_Plc_en_2037252.html Now tell us again what year, International Breweries was bought over by SABMiller according to you, and how much did they pay for it?? Please post the proof here. Because the only foreign company that bought shares in International Breweries, was a German Company Brauhaase GmbH- not SABMiller. That German company engaged SABMiller to provide technical/operational assistance for the brewery. |

Bayo Ogunlesi is not the founder of GIP

Ogunlesi is currently Chairman and Managing Partner at the private equity firm, Global Infrastructure Partners (GIP). Ogunlesi was the former head of Global Investment Banking at Credit Suisse First Boston before being promoted to Chief Client Officer and Executive Vice Chairman I don't want to call you dumb, but honestly you are leaving me with no choice. Bayo Ogunlesi was promoted to Chief Client Officer and Executive Vice Chairman at Credit Suisse First Boston, and NOT at GIP!! Read it again with a clear mind! A management shake-up at Credit Suisse First Boston, one of the nation’s biggest investment banking firms, resulted in the shifting of a top executive to a newly created position away from money management.
Adebayo “Bayo” Ogunlesi, 50, a 2002 BLACK ENTERPRISE Wall Street All-Star, was moved in August from his post as head of investment banking and appointed the company’s new chief client officer and executive vice chairman . http://www.blackenterprise.com/mag/csfb-repositions-top-exec/ |
