DerideGull: I simply request you quit writing about IPOB or Biafra if you can humanly indulged. Pretense is the hallmark of insincerity and most Nigerians are marked for it. Why? Are you the NL Police or the censors board? Why should you ask others to desist from writing about a subject, on a public forum? And why are you talking about pretense & insincerity, here? Are you engaging in some sort of pretense, perhaps? Is that why you made reference to it? |

While Tunji Fagboyegun sits at the helm of affairs at JOF Ideal Family Farms in Owo, Ondo State, his younger brother Segun Fagboyegun handles the affairs of their subsidiary firm in Lagos called JOF Nigeria Limited. Segun Fagboyegun who is is the Managing Director / Chief Executive Officer of JOF Nigeria Limited, has over 25 years of experience in the fields of Law, Finance and Business Management. He graduated from University of Ife with a Bachelors' degree in Law, and earned an LL.M in Maritime Law from the University of London (Kings College). He is also the founder of Segun Fagboyegun & Associates, a firm of solicitors, advocates and legal consultants based in Lagos. Segun currently serves on the Board of Directors of several reputable companies including Tulip Cocoa Processing Ltd. and Araromi-Ayesan Oil Plantation Plc, amongst others. He is a member of the Institute of Directors (London). He started JOF Nigeria Ltd in 1991 and the firm has now grown big in areas such as Commodity Trading, Import and Export Services, Logistics Services, Real Estate Development, Portfolio Investments in Shares and Vegetable Oil Manufacturing.A few years ago, Adamawa State Government signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with a frontline agro-allied company and a member of the JOF Group of Companies, JOF Nigeria Limited, in a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) arrangement to finance the development of agriculture and agro-allied industry, as part of the administration's promise to industrialise the state. JOF, which has been in the agriculture business in Nigeria for over 50 years, is partnering the government to establish a large scale sugarcane plantation. The success of the Fagboyegun brothers stems from the lessons their late parents inculcated in them and the legacy of honesty and hardwork they left behind. Both brothers are reported to be stupendously wealthy, but very modest in their outlook, and quiet in their lifestyle. A lot of stories have been told about their family, and the way their activities have influenced the fortune of many people within Ondo state. Education is good, but knowledge triumphs over all, but the greatest secret of living is imagination. I sincerely believe that what each of us does with his/her life is up to us but no one is an accidental being. Success too is not a serendipitous discovery for after all, the Great Alone has given us all that we need for life, and it's up to us to harness those creative and in-built talents in furtherance of one's purpose on earth.....
Local kibitzers have woven all kinds of tales and rumors on the success of the richest man and family in Owo and Ondo State,, but the taste of the pudding is in the eating. Look at their lifestyles, scrutinize the choices they made in life, analyze their philosophy and approach to life and you'd see while the Fagboyeguns succeeded.
Reverend once told me that, money and success are everywhere, opportunities are abound in any clime, but what is important is how you'll discover those opportunities. "You can be successful anywhere you're, because as a child of the Most High, you're like manure and will germinate and give birth to success anywhere if you can imagine it," Reverend once told me.
Mama hated waste and if you lived long enough with them and know them intimately, you would find out. "If this is how we spend and fritter away everything, we'd not reach this level," Mama would tell anyone straight faced who came to take advantage of their generosity. Some relatives couldn't stand Mama, while some like me would defend her till death, and thereafter.
Mama was icy to some relatives but warm to some and I asked her why this was so. "Not everyone would love you, and you can't get along with every one, because some relatives do not have direction for their lives and so believe a rich relative would help them, but we only assist those who are serious, determined and are focused." http://nigeriaworld.com/feature/publication/fayemiwo/052013.html At one time, the Fagboyegun family even had to offer the Ondo State govt a loan, during the 2nd republic, when Chief Michael Ajasin was the governor. In the history of local capitalism, three magi pioneered indigenous entrepreneurship in the ancient City of Owo: Chief Ajanaku Makun, Chief Aruwajoye and Reverend Fagboyegun. Because Chief Obafemi Awolowo bestrode the political life of Owo and western Nigerian like a colossus, and for the fact Owo was the birthplace of the Action Group (AG), the interplay forces of politics and business could, and often get blurred and even the reluctant businessman would find political pressures irresistible.
As the political direction of Owo was devoid of media lane of opposition, getting nominated into the AG and later UPN as a candidate for office was intensely acrimonious, more so the struggle for internal political hegemony was fought between the royal and elite wings of the party represented in the First Republic by Oba Olateru-Olagbegi, the Olowo of Owo and Chief Adekunle Ajasin respectively. Of the trifecta, only Reverend Fgaboyegun withstood political temptations.
During the Ajasin administration between 1979 and 1983, shortfall in financial allocations from the federal government of the Shagari Administration warranted a loan by the defunct Ondo State to pay the salaries of civil servants in the state. The government approached local banks for deficit financing, and when it approached First Bank under the late Chief Samuel Oyewole Asabia, the Ajasin Administration was directed to contact "one of their most dependable customers/depositors: Jide Fagboyegun."
Always the willing party financier and one desirous of seeing a fellow Owo man like Chief Ajasin succeed, as the state's first democratically-elected governor, Reverend approved the loan with the understanding his money would be paid back, as soon as money arrived from Lagos. It was not to be, for soon Shagari's austerity measures took off, bureaucratic bottleneck set in, and a military coup swept the civilian administration out of power on December 31, 1983.
Former retired Col.S.I. B Ademulegun of Owo of the then Supply & Transport (S&T) of the Nigerian Army and now the king of Ipemen Land was being penciled down by the Buhari-Idiagbon regime as the military administrator of Old Ondo State until it was discovered after the coup that he failed to report at his place of assignment on coup day: December 31, 1983.
General Idaigbon promptly gave an order Ademulegun should be retired, while Commodore Bamidele Otiko was posted to Ondo State as governor. No sooner than Otiko arrived in Akure than he began to pursue the anti-UPN cum anti-progressive policies of the Buhari-Idiagbon military regime (1984-1985).
Otiko opened the books and discovered the Ondo State Government owed Chief Fagboyegun several millions and alerted Doddan Barracks. In Nigeria, people purloin government finances, but it's rare to hear government owes business people not for contract works done, but for a promissory debenture loan worth millions of Naira.
Pronto, Idiagbon showed uncanny interest in the report, wishing to gain political capital out of it. The men of the NSO-the precursor of the present SSS-were dispatched to Owo and Akure, to check out this businessman stupendously rich enough to give a loan to the state government. They looked and looked and discovered nothing, absolutely nothing incriminating or deals under the table that could be used to indict Reverend Jide Fagboyegun.
As the late Chief Festus Adetula, an Owo indigene and then permanent secretary in the cabinet office of the defunct Supreme Military Council (SMC) under Buhari noted, Jide Fagboyegun made his money in the old-fashioned way, he didn't depend on government and the Buhari-Idiagbon regime didn't know there were still remnants of such indigenous businessmen and women in Nigeria. http://nigeriaworld.com/feature/publication/fayemiwo/052013.html

Please refrain from posting enlightening message as above for them. My only prayer is they get it without bloodshed so they do not use that as excuse for their certain under-development in future. During the first republic, their regional government sent a delegation to the SW to under-study how the AG was able to provide free education and still recorded so many feats just with revenue from cocoa. Guest what ? They fell far short of putting what they learned to effect. When Jankande repeated the same feat in Lagos, rather than learn to do same for their people, they encouraged them to embark upon a mass exodus to Lagos to enjoy the programme, only for them to turn round to vilify the same fingers that fed them. When you opined pushing for a referendum through our law makers, I surmised that you are one of those folks that are far from the reality on ground in regards to Nigerian gross injustice and inequity. In which senate are they going to raise that issue? It will be a foolhardy step for one to raise such kind of issue in a senate that has been fundamentally skewed to support the northern course- the course of a primitive and stone age kind of creatures that has been the bane of Nigerian development. Why has no one mustered the courage to talk about the outright disappearance of our president when Nigeria, bedeviled by political, economic and social problems, needed an agile president that will set the ball rolling, commanding his foot soldier to get things done expediently ? In sane clime, that buhari dude would have been advised to resign or out-rightly impeached. My brother, Nigeria is a ruse and a legendarily failed entity that is not salvageable. The only feasible remedy-although as crude as it might be- is what Nnamdi Kalu is doing: Destabilizing what is left of the destabilized country and forthwith balk-anise the shit. I feel sorry for you. What Kanu is doing has not helped the cause of your people. And if you are a good student of international politics, you would realise that insulting other ethnic groups, conducting mass demonstrations and stay-at-home exercises, has never helped any group of people carve out a new nation from an existing one. Take the right steps and get your country fast! A lot of people like us, would be very happy for you to get your proposed republic. |

vena92: Abeg guy help me look up and post about these guys; Segun Fagboyegun MD/CEO JOF NIG. LTD. Muyiwa Bakare Kn23h laudate markfemi2 J.O.F. Ideal Family Farms Limited, is a family-owned enterprise based in Owo, Ondo State. It is reported to be the biggest private employer in the State. The firm is a sole proprietorship that has now become a distinct household name, in the manufacture of organic soya oil, cashew processing, citrus farming, produce merchandizing, poultry and livestock feeds, table water production, construction, commodities brokerage and haulage interests. It was established by the late Reverend Canon Johnson Olajide Fagboyegun and the late Mrs. Fagboyegun. The company started life from humble beginnings, as a family business, named J.O. Fagboyegun and Sons, until it metamorphosed into J.O.F. Ideal Family Farms Limited, which is now a leading employee of labour in Nigeria. Apart from dominating the manufacturing sector through their subsidiary JOF Vegetable Oil Company in Owo and allied produce companies in Akure and Lagos, the family also has an array of petrol stations and several hectares of lands having crops of industrial value. In the assigned role of balancing the business books, the late Mrs. Florence Olawunmi Fagboyegun, was able to put many university and polytechnic- trained accountant to shame. She was ever meticulous and careful to find where leaks could occur, and prevent wastages. The kind of love and close bond she enjoyed with her husband, purposely showed in this attribute. Her husband, Canon Fagboyegun, was an unequalled resource manager. Late Mrs. Florence Olawunmi Fagboyegun was the matriarch of 30 biological offspring, including grand and great grandchildren. She took care of the biological children, and several other adopted family members, by paying attention to every developmental issue in the lives of all the children she adopted. She died in the early hours of Friday May 17, 2013. She was 83 years old. When her son Tunji Fagboyegun took over the running of the farm, he focused on Agricultural Commodity Export and also teamed up with others to establish an organic fertilizer plant. His strategy allowed the firm to make substantial inroads into the US and UK market, by consistently providing high quality products to end users in those countries. The proceeds from the export sales of the Brazilian jumbo cashew nuts and other products, increased the revenue and profit base of the firm, and today, the company is a success story in the agricultural & agro-processing industry. http://www.sharpedgenews.com/index.php?option=com_k2&view=item&id=823:memories-as-florence-the-fagboyegun-martriach-departs&Itemid=501The JOF Ideal Family Cashew Processing Plant in Owo, Ondo State, started exporting cashew kernels in the late 1980’s/early 1990’s using labor-intensive Indian technology. The owner hired an experienced Indian cashew production manager to start up the 2,5000MT per year raw nut capacity plant. In less than two years, the Nigerian owned and managed JOF Ideal was fully operational, exporting cashew kernels to the UK. Since then, several other processors have successfully copied JOF’s strategy, hiring seasoned JOF employees to start up their own plants. Jof trained managers and employees are highly sought after by new processors. http://pdf.usaid.gov/pdf_docs/Pnacy675.pdf https://www.thenigerianvoice.com/news/114096/florence-olawunmi-fagboyegun-1929-2013-an-exemplum-of-a-v.html;

udokpuenyi: You are a mere onlooker and the that is the reason you have this skewed view of Biafran movement. I was expecting you to comment on the Aburi accord and Gowon 3R programme but you mischievously avoided that and concentrated on how Ojukwu fled. I wonder what your conscience told you when you read pass that line.
Biafran cannot push for insertion of referendum into a false document. A document that started with a brazen lie " we the people.." .Even the common attempt by greedy eastern politician to push for the SEDC into that false document was thwarted at the same National Assembly where you want them to push for referendum. So who is fooling who? Why should I comment on the Aburi accord, when that was not the focus of this thread? And why should I comment on Gown's 3R programme, when it is clear you want to use that issue as a clear digression from the topic at hand? There is no mischief here, in fact the only person being mischievous here is you, because you are cleverly avoiding the fact, that you and your people have entrusted their destiny into Kanu's hands, instead of taking concrete political steps to actualise their proposed republic. Keep trying to fool others, but you cannot fool me. Even the legislators in your state house of assemblies, have refused to discuss Biafra. And stop clutching at straws by mentioning the SEDC Bill. Your legislators failed to do their groundwork initially, that was why the 1st attempt to pass the bill, failed. And the reasons given were clear. A bill for the creation of a South East Development Commission (SEDC) recently met with conflicting reactions in the two chambers of the National Assembly.
In the House of Representatives where it was first introduced, the bill failed to make it to the crucial Second Reading as members voted to throw it out, after its introduction on the floor by the sponsor Chukwuka Onyema. The House stopped the bill’s progress on several grounds including its unintended coincidence with the fresh wave of agitation by some Biafra irredentists clamouring for secession of the same South East geo-political zone from the Nigerian federation. Some members also called for further consultation by its sponsors.
In the Senate however the same bill sponsored by Senator Samuel Anyanwu found favour as it was passed without much debate for Second Reading following an appeal by the Deputy Senate President Ike Ekweremadu for ‘fairness and justice.’ The bill’s success in the Senate attracted cheers from the South East Caucus which applauded Senators for the gesture. The Senate move opened the way for the bill to proceed to the next stage of public hearing where stake holders are expected to make inputs. This situation also conjures the prospects or otherwise of the resurrection of the bill in the House where it had failed the first time. https://www.dailytrust.com.ng/news/editorial/south-east-development-commission-bill/202875.html Like I said before, may your new republic come through, and anyone who tries to stop it (including your own people) will fall into trouble. And all the people said..... |

udokpuenyi: There is nothing like mass hysteria here. Nnamdi is only speaking loud what most biafran families have been murmuring in their closet out of fear. It has been a case of who will bail the cat until his arrival. The biafran war did not end, only the the warfront battle ended end the cold war continued. That is why Gowon's 3R programme was implemented in the west and north but not in the east where the battle was fought.
Ojukwu did not lead the biafrans to war rather he defended his people after the treacherous Gowon reneged the Aburi Accord. While you all war mongers wish war for the biafran people, make sure you defeat bokoharam first to avoid fighting war in all fronts. To you, it is not mass hysteria. To the rest of us onlookers, it is nothing but mass hysteria. Why? Because your people are just busy following Kanu up and down, without taking specific steps through their legislators and govt ministers, to push for a referendum to be inserted in the constitution, in order to get their own country. Concrete political steps need to be taken, for them to actualise their dreams. A rash of demonstrations is not going to fetch you your new republic. As for you saying Ojukwu defended his people, well - that is your opinion. I guess he defended them so well, that he managed to lose 3 million of them to death. He also defended hem exceedingly well, by hopping into a plane on the Uli airstrip and taking off for Ivory Coast, after abandoning them to their fate, on the battle field. May God bless the late Lt. Gen Philip Effiong who did not run away, but stood up to be counted by taking the bold step that put an end to the carnage. That is what true heroes are made of. On January 15, 1970 at Dodan Barracks in Lagos, in the presence of General Gowon, Effiong announced the end of the Biafran conflict.
"I, Major-General Phillip Efiong, Officer Administering the Government of the Republic of Biafra, now wish to make the following declaration: That we affirm that we are loyal Nigerian citizens and accept the authority of the Federal Military Government of Nigeria. That we accept the existing administrative and political structure of the Federation of Nigeria. That any future constitutional arrangement will be worked out by representatives of the people of Nigeria. That the Republic of Biafra hereby ceases to exist."
At the time of the surrender, Effiong believed that the situation was hopeless and that prolonging the conflict would have led only to the further destruction and starvation of the people of Biafra. At that time Effiong said, "I am convinced now that a stop must be put to the bloodshed which is going on as a result of the war. I am also convinced that the suffering of our people must be brought to an immediate end."
Nnaemeka L. Aneke wrote, "General Efiong’s handling of Biafra’s surrender is one of the most tactical and devoted maneuvers ever seen on the Nigerian scene. Those who do not appreciate the depth of it may not have appreciated what was at stake as Biafra capitulated."
In a 1996 interview, Effiong reflected on those events: "I have no regrets whatsoever of my involvement in Biafra or the role I played. The war deprived me of my property, dignity, my name. Yet, I saved so many souls on both sides and by this, I mean Biafra and Nigeria. . . . I felt that I played a role which has kept this country united till today. . . . At the end of it all when I saw they (Biafran soldiers) could no longer continue and Ojukwu had fled, I did what was ideal after wide consultation . . . " Efiong died 6 November 2003, at the age of 78 less than two weeks before his 79th birthday. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Philip_Effiong |

I love what I have done to all the silly Afonjas on this thread, slave posters.

The giant is awake, I am still gonna step on your head and balls. 2.00 am he was up keeping vigil. Told you that is how I roll. Warning I take no responsibility for your suicide, I repeat. If that boy you responded to, decides to commit suicide now because of what you just told him, what will you do? Take it easy, abeg. The guy is just a clown of the highest order who dropped out of school and is trying to feel important, without realising that he is just disgracing himself all over NL. |

ariesbull: Its not about learning its about population and femographics...freom my engagementr, most yoruba lads wants to be some kind of Alaye and Agbero controlling garages when they grow up
I doubt this list of yours...its different from what I see on the streets of lagos and Ibadan Madam, I have visited Lagos & Ibadan. In fact, I have spent several years living in Lagos, apart from even studying within the city. The activities of alaye boys in both cities is restricted to certain areas, ghettos and local markets. It is not as widespread, as you want everyone to believe. And I went to school with a lot of Yoruba boys who ended up excelling in their studies and becoming well-established professionals in medicine, law, engineering, media, banking etc. In fact, the best graduating student in my faculty was a Yoruba boy. He got a straight first class and a scholarship to study at Imperial College in the UK. Today, he has gotten his Ph.D and is on a fast track to becoming a professor. And there are still many more like him, everywhere in the Southwest. So this your propaganda that "most yoruba lads wants to be some kind of Alaye and Agbero controlling garages when they grow up", is nothing, but sheer falsehood. Did you conduct a census among all the Yoruba boys in Lagos and Ibadan, before you arrived at this conclusion? But then you are noted for twisted stories, lies and sheer exaggeration. Maybe, you were referring to the Igbo guys in your neighbourhood.... who knows? |

realhumanity: Yorubas will not say I am lying. And when you ask for the history of Ilorin from fulanis or hausas , they will tell you the truth. Stop listening or reading from one side of history and come to kano museum to see history for yourself and listen to how they took over Ilorin. An average Hausa man will tell you that they cannot cede Ilorin to yorubas because its their land.
Alimi fought for afonja with his own ppl doing business with then in Ilorin. I know my history, do you know yours? The history you are repeating on this thread, is different from the history of Ilorin as it is told by indigenes of that town. From what I have heard and read, there were no promises of land by Afonja to Alimi, in any way. Is this something you made up? Like I said before, why don't you provide a link to the source of your story, instead of telling lies up here? |

Romance › Re: Nigerian Couple Who Met Through Social Media In The US Wed. Photos by laudate: 2:20am On Jul 28, 2017 |
CastedDude: The power of social media can not be over-emphasized. A newly wed lady identified as Chinyelu has revealed how she met her heartthrob/husband Ifeanyi via social media in the United State. According to her, Ifeanyi was going through his social media account when he saw her lovely photos on one of his friend’s pages. He was mesmerized and decided to drop her a message. Read what she shared below;
It was truly unexpected for me to meet Ifeanyi. I had just moved to Atlanta, GA and was at a point in my life where I wanted to focus on myself and get adjusted to my new city. All of my friends and family knew that I didn't care for blind dates. So, if they wanted me to meet someone, I told them to have them contact me via social media. That way, I can see his picture and decide if I wanted to respond or not. On August 4, 2014, I received a message from Ifeanyi who is a great friend of one of my bridesmaids. He saw a picture of me and my good friend, and thought I was beautiful.
It wasn’t until he told me he was a University of Miami Hurricanes fan (my college’s rival) that I became intrigued. I ran track at Florida State University and love my alma mater, so why would anyone want to be a University of Miami fan? I clearly had to find out why. Since then, we continued to message each other back and forth and I was starting to like what I saw in his personality.
After a while, we decided to talk on the phone and our conversations then became even more heartfelt and meaningful. In November, while I was visiting family and friends in Houston, he arranged for us to meet at Fish and The Knife, a beautiful sushi restaurant and lounge.
Dinner was amazing and throughout the night I saw he had an amazing smile. After our first date, we traveled back and forth between Houston and Atlanta so that we could see each other at least twice a month. With every conversation and every visit, I saw myself falling more and more for this man. His words, his smile, his heart, and the way he looked at me, made me feel so special that I knew he was the one for me. That December, we had an amazing date at Sweet Georgia’s Juke Joint in Atlanta, GA. With jazz music filling the air, he told me how special I was to him and how much I meant to him. He told me he has never met anyone like me before and could see himself spending the rest of his life with me. It was at that point that he truly touched my heart. I had this wonderful feeling within and right then, I knew I was in love.
Source; https://www.nationalhelm.co/2017/07/nigerian-couple-met-social-media-us-photos.html What a lovely story! Wishing you both, a happy married life. This Ifeanyi guy, has his head screwed on right. He saw the babe, checked her out, courted her and made a choice to keep her for life. Unlike some of his Igbo brothers, that will leave America and come down to Naija to carry one mgbeke back to the States, as their new wife. By the time, those girls land there and the American lifestyle turns their heads in the opposite direction, they start to show those same husbands, real pepper. Before you know it, the centre cannot hold again, and the marriage scatters. mtcheew... |
