If the Niger Delta itself wasn't riddled with corrupt leadership, it would have been difficult for Northern powers to control the oil wells in their numbers.
It is similar to why the South East leadership have been the greater cowards in the Biafran project. Unfortunately, I cannot show you we are free because it would mean I must acknowledge that we are in bondage, which we are not.
I understand the Biafrian project won't be complete until the land grabbing tendencies materialize. You need the oil regions to fan your chest beating antics. Unfortunately, we don't share your dream. If you want the oils badly, declare a war and see what follows. ROFLMAO!! |

You know its funny you all keep on claiming Igbos are interested in their oil. But even from the moment of secession, not one Igbo man had an oil well till date. You guys keep on living in delusion that Igbos are after oil... Thrash. To hell with the oil. Our ingenuity is enough for us. We will get there one day.

LOL So fratermathy is now an afonja - if Ipobs are this crazy tell me who will want to join you in Biafra?
By the way - we Itshekiris will NEVER (I repeat NEVER) join Biafra. We are far more related to Yorubas and Edos. In the event of a Nigerian break-up our first choice is a Niger-Delta Republic. If that fails, we will join our Oduduwa cousins in the South-West. Ipobs are dreamers.
And please go ahead and call me afonja all you want - in fact, you are not that far from the truth Ever since I saw them calling Fratermathy an Afonja, I have been laughing my head off! Fratermathy is as Urhobo as they come! But you should know the default setting of the IPOB crew by now. Anyone who does not agree with their myopic views, is automatically labelled an Afonja, even if he is Gwari, Bura, Fulani, Idoma, Koma, Yakurr, Tiv, Ebira, Kataf, Nupe, Igala or Urhobo. You really can't blame them. I have always said it: The ' juju the Afonjas cooked for them must have been very potent... That is why you can see it manifesting in everything they do. |

"Trouble dey sleep, yanga go wake am, na wetin e dey find oooOO...." fratermathy: Of course. Personally, I am not very pleased with the status quo. However, I do know that packing everyone to form a splinter nation without a roundtable discussion of terms is not going to cut it. As a people, the Urhobos have better chances in a restructured Nigeria than in an Igbo-dominated, however loosely controlled Biafra. This has always been our stand on this matter.
Just because we are not comfortable with Nigeria doesn't mean that we want Biafra as an exit plan. Many of us uncomfortable with Nigeria even prefer Niger Delta Republic to Biafra. Well said!! |

bkool7: Let me elaborate on my reply . Why hasn't any person from Eastern Nigeria serve as CGC ?
First , It could be a coincidence . A coincidence In the sense that no one is keeping records of the ethnics that had served in that capacity . Since the constitution didn't say that particular post should be rotational among ethnic groups in Nigeria .
Secondly , a study of that office had shown that its rare to bring in civilian to serve in that capacity . So most people that had assumed that post were Custom officials , and they're appointed according to ranks. So if an eastern person had not been there ...without prejudice , it has to be that they lack the rank to be there whenever the need arises .
Thirdly , since you yourself acknowledged the peculiarity of the post , unfortunately it May be that successive govt. don't usually find a trustworthy peron in easterner to trust with such resposibility . And as long as Federal character had been fulfilled - people are usually contented .Except maybe a particular person interested in the post for reasons only best known to him/her.
These are the best possible facts. Whether they're satisfactory to you is entirely your perogative . Point of correction. Dr. Bernard-Shaw Nwadialo, a Deputy Comptroller-General served as Comptroller General of Customs from March 2009 to August 2009. He hailed from the South-East. On 27th May 2008, Jacob Gyang Buba disengaged from Service and in his place Hamman Bello Ahmed, a serving Assistant Comptroller-General was appointed as the Comptroller-General. He retired from Service on 15th January 2009, Dr. Bernard-Shaw Nwadialo, a Deputy Comptroller-General was appointed first in acting capacity, and subsequently confirmed in March 2009.
He in turn disengaged from Service on 17th August 2009, paving the way for the emergence of an Assistant Comptroller-General, Dikko Inde Abdullahi, who was appointed to replace him. https://www.customs.gov.ng/About/historical_information.php |

Real2020: Only Dangote, oil companies and some notable Nigerians can use those ports in SS. International commercial vessels are not allowed to sail directly to those ports by Nigeria Port Authority policies...for decades SS and SE governors have tried to let NPA to allow these ports to function to their full capacity and they have refused. Only chartered or privately owned vessels by oil companies, Dangote and few well known Nigerians can use them.
There is what we can systematic marginalization that you yorubas have no clue of against Igbos, and SS. They know if SS ports are fully functional like Lagos, these ports will spur economic growth and likely clout to demand for independence from Nigeria, so making SE and SS dependent on Lagos ports is a way of indirectly keeping them in Nigeria...tying them to Nigeria. Ehn? What do you mean by "you yorubas?" What makes you think I am one? Guy, shine yah eyes, o! I come from a minority tribe... |

Real2020: What is funny is some Nigerians particularly yorubas think it's natural and okay for Lagos to have 2 seaports and largest functional international airport by design and for SE to have none. Some actually think Lagos has all these ports and airport by merit. When you try to to reason with them that why are Port Harcourt, Calabar, Warri, Onne and Onitsha ports not as functional as Lagos ports, they come up with all manners of excuses but you tell that that Dangote is using Calabar seaport to import most of his goods into SE, and then they keep quiet. Lol! Same goes for the airport, why are Lagos, Abuja, Kaduna and Kano the only functional airports in the country for international direct flight services? The fact is if you go right now, I mean now, to Lagos and Abuja, count and interview those traveling to international destinations, I assure you over 50% are Igbos. Then why can't they travel directly from Enugu, Uyo, Calabar, Asaba or Port Harcourt? Same goes for their goods...all these companies Reno talked about in Nnewi, Aba and Onitsha import their goods via Lagos port, that's over 1000 kms drive and paying all kinds of customs fees and bribes on the way to finally make it to SE, and you tell me this is fair?
Yorubas...how will you people feel having to drive 1000kms to SE to fly and clear your goods? Not only do you do this one time only but a constant thing for the past 50 yrs? And you think it's ok? Yorubas....where are your conscience? Do you people have feelings at all? Do you have hearts? I commend Fayose and Fani but more yorubas need to come out and condemn this evil and wickedness! I am scratching my head, trying to make sense of these claims that you have made here. If Dangote can import his goods into the South-east through Calabar port, and over 50% of importers are Igbo businessmen, then why haven't they joined Dangote to start importing their own goods into the SE, through Calabar port? As for Enugu airport, didn't Stella Ada Oduah convince Ethiopian airlines to start launching direct international flights from there, a few years back? What happened? A few Igbo people have held the reins as Minister of Aviation, so why didn't they convert those airports in your region, into international airports? Just wondering.... |

You hate the Yorubas, but you love their region because it is conducive.
You dream of the day you'll get Biafra But loathe and fear the day you will have to leave Yorubaland.
The Lebanese in Nigeria knows he's a foreigner and doesn't claim that Lagos is a no-man's land.
He has obeyed Nigerian immigration laws, that's why he's in Nigeria.
He understands that the Yorubas are the indigenous owner of the Southwest states so he respects them.
You want a country. A country you have no intention of staying in. A country you intend to visit only at Christmas period to show off the "wealth" you've acquired while working in Afonja land.
There was a country indeed. Chimo!! See finishing.... chai! |

Kc3000: Lmao....dude, you're still tragically spinning out of control and your last ditch effort is to twist my words in a futile attempt to give them new meaning.
For the last time, as stated earlier, Soyinka, and even other delegates from Nigeria on separate occasions, had approached Biafrans to convince them to abandon the secession idea.
It's quite hilarious that you are desperately trying to save face by now claiming I stated "Soyinka abandoned Biafra". How could he abandon something he never supported, which is what I've been out to prove the entire time.
Obviously, you're simply trying to play stupid. Guy, am happy that everyone can read all the posts and responses on this thread, including your own. The only one trying to play stupid here, is just you. So clap for yourself. You are the one who shot yourself in the foot earlier on, and is now trying to save face. Stop digging yourself further into the hole you created. But you don't have to take my advice, though. Now, are you trying to deny that you did not use the word 'abandon' in relation to Soyinka's efforts to broker peace? A person you claimed was trying to "convince others to abandon Biafra," must have abandoned Biafra before trying to convince others to do so, not so? Can you see how ridiculous your ramblings are? The same person who you have disparaged as convincing others to abandon Biafra, was jailed for 2 years for trying to broker peace in your region. If he had succeeded in his efforts, maybe 3 million souls on either side of the divide would still be alive today. Now, like I asked you the last time, when are you going to be man enough to tender an apology to Soyinka? |

The most General word used to describe the people of South West was Lukumi or Ulkumi or Olukumi. Most Yoruba's in the West Indies still refer to themselves as Lukumi.
The Ugbo's are different from the Igbos. The Ugbos they were chased out of Ife by Prince Ekaladerhan aka Oduduwa are the Ilajes in present day Ondo state. Guy, save your breath.
