ttmacoy:Ok Bros, point taken. You sound like a British consular officer. Hold on to your UK schools. I hope Nigerians will read this, and stop wasting their money going to all those British schools. N.B: Please post the list of schools that do not charge non-EU students double what the EU & UK students pay, or those that do not charge non-EU students higher fees, than those paid by EU students. We need proof. Thanks. Finally, not every one is expecting the right to stay and work. But if it was a valid scheme in existence, at the time the student made a decision to go abroad to study, it might have been one of the factors that influenced the student to choose a British university, instead of a higher institution in another country. Some of the agents that market these British schools in Nigeria, often use it as a selling point to woo students to the UK. It is time the Nigerian govt banned them from coming in here, sef! ![]() |
How many people are advertising this estate on Nairaland?? Last time I checked, there were more than 8 people advertising the same thing. Meanwhile, the road to the place is NOT motorable and you cannot even build anything there immediately, as the entire site is yet to be cleared..!! |
ttmacoy:Bros, I don't know where you got the idea that non-EU students do not always pay double of what is paid as fees by UK and EU students. Have you done a comparison of school fees recently in British universities, for non-EU and EU students?? Especially for the first year?? ![]() If you feel they do not always pay double, please provide proof, oh! Because those who pay these fees know where the shoe pinches! As for the British universities feeling the pinch, then they should be able to advise their govt accordingly of the repercussions of the decisions they take. ![]() Most students want to return home, but back home there is a lot of bias against graduates without work experience. It doesn't matter if you are from a foreign university or a local one. The one or two years experience on your CV (especially if it is done at a multinational organisation), can make or mar your chances of entry into a good job, in Nigeria. |
lonelydora:So those who use pressurised natural gas (PNG) and compressed natural gas (CNG), do they liquefy and crack the gas too, before getting it into PNG & CNG state? Pls confirm. Thanks. |
Barcholder:There are rechargeable fans that can also be used after switching off your air-con. This helps to save on energy consumption. You can also set your air-con on a timer, to switch off after a particular amount of time. Some air-cons have this facility. Anyway, thanks for all the info on Solar Energy panels & equipment. I will definitely consider it, once I have the money. ![]() |
histemple:Apart from that, there are a number of private universities in Nigeria today (e.g. Babcock) that offer 1 year top-up programme to HND graduates, in order to give them a BSc. So, for those who can afford to pay for that extra year of study in order to have an additional BSc. qualification, please go for it. It would broaden your chances in the job market. ![]() There are still a lot of BSc. graduates without jobs by the way, so the grass is not necessarily greener on their own side. |
pimpc007: ekiloui: backtosender: Olaone1:That title is totally misleading. It is not Lagosians that are excited about the escalator. It is just one bush boy from Ogun State visiting Lagos, for the first time!!! ![]() The writer of that article is just a lazy hack, that is generalising and has tarred all Lagosians with the same brush. He is probably trying to generate publicity for the owners of the mall, but he is going about it the wrong way! I grew up in Lagos, and I have lost count of the number of escalators that I have seen and used!! It is definitely NOT a new thing in Lagos. |
Viktor1983:These people rejoicing over escalators are bush people. Na where dem dey since? ![]() Escalators used to be plenty at the old Leventis and Kingsway stores in Marina , Lagos in the eighties before they folded up. Mega Plaza in Victoria Island, Lagos has had an efficient escalator installed there for over 5 years. It is still functional. And the local airport MM2 in Ikeja constructed by Wale Babalakin has two escalators.... all functional. Let us not even mention the fine escalator at Eko Hotel in Victoria Island.Several buildings in Lagos have escalators that are functional and have been in use for years!! So why is there so much excitement over an escalator??!! ![]() What will they do if they see a fast moving conveyor belt carrying luggage on a circular carousel?? Will they faint, stagger or collapse in shock? |
wristbangle:Due to 'tribal differences?' I put it to you sir, that you were NOT in love with the lady. If you truly loved her, tribal differences would not have mattered, not one bit! Haven't you seen people marry from other countries or across other races?? ![]() |
Pls answer my question. Thanks. ![]() |
Ofonagoro:Abeg, no vex oh!! Am truly sorry....may he live long! May God add many more years of peace, good health and strength to his life. ![]() |
mystage:Guy, I wish you could write proper structured sentences, instead of this shorthand form that you put up here. Sometimes, it is hard to grasp your points because of all the abbreviations you have used. ![]() Yes, Edo State's allocation is lower than those of other states. But whatever funds any state gets, should be judiciously used for the benefit of its citizens. No one is asking Oshiomhole to construct a stadium if that is NOT what the people need. But if there is another project that they require to improve their lives, then he needs to get it done. GO TV, AIT and CHANNELS TV are owned by private entrepreneurs. They were NOT set up by Oshiomhole. It is not clear from your post what role he played in getting them to set up offices in Benin, or extend their signals to Edo State. It is the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) that allocates frequencies and licenses to private companies that wish to broadcast or set up TV stations in any state, not the governor. You need to state what industries (not TV stations, oh!) he has attracted to Edo State, and how many jobs he has created during his tenure as governor. Peter Obi managed to attract SABMiller the brewery giant to Anambra State when he was governor and that alone, created over 2,500 jobs within the state. He gave the company huge tracts of land at very reduced rates, and provided them with all the approvals they needed to get established within record time. His revenue allocation from the federal purse was less than what accrues to Edo State. He also invested govt funds in setting up Orient refinery that would soon start producing oil in Anambra State, once they are able to resolve the border issues they have with their neighbouring communities. Think of all the jobs that would be created when this becomes a reality. With respect to schools, I beg to differ with you. It is the job of any responsible government to fund and equip public schools in their territory. It is also their job to repair roads and drainages. That is what they were elected to do with taxpayers money. In other countries, if they fail to do this, the governor would be voted out immediately or public demonstrations would break out as people troop to the streets to protest his inefficiency. If state funds have been misused or diverted during his tenure, with no corresponding projects to show for it, then he is arraigned before a competent court of law and thrown in jail, if found guilty of misapropriation of funds... ![]() It is only in Nigeria, that when state governors do what they are supposed to do, or what is normally their primary responsibility, that we hail them and praise them to high heavens. Whose job is it to equip the schools and repair the roads? Is it my own job? Have you ever heard anyone extolling the virtues of any mayor in London or America, for equipping a public primary school??! With respect to the way he addressed the gully erosion, that is a good one. He should embark on more of such projects. I am waiting for you to tell me what else Oshiomhole has done with respect to healthcare, provision of water supply, creation of jobs and power infrastructure projects in Edo State. Thank you. |
tsdarkside:You don't think govt will punish you? Ok, how do you classify govt increasing land use charge on your property after you helped to fix the road? Is that a commendation? Or is that the best way to show appreciation? Tell us, oh! By the way, approval was sought and obtained before the road was built. In fact, the NTDA guys wanted their palms 'greased' before the approval could be released. What does that tell you? ![]() |
mystage:What 'wrong thinking' for crying out loud??! I go to Edo State regularly, as I have a few projects there. ![]() And I did not talk any rubbish about Oshiomhole. I merely stated the facts. If you have facts of your own about how well he has done, oya state them here...stop attacking people for no just cause. Mtcheew! At least in Delta State, Uduaghan left world class hospitals and a good healthcare system. In Akwa Ibom, Akpabio's name is written in gold because of the beautiful infrastructure he left behind in the state, ranging from the best stadium in West Africa to the five star hospitals, in Uyo and its environs. In addition, 80% of Akwa Ibom has been connected to the national grid and power supply in the state is far more steady than in other states. ![]() Biko, tell us if Oshiomhole's achievements and level of infrastructure in Benin, are as good as those of his counterparts. Provide facts, figures and proof! |
atilla:Yep! Grew up there. |
OreMI22:Ehm...Almighty God, I pray the Igbo are allowed to get the Biafra they deserve without any further delay. Anyone who tries to stop them will be infested with a thousand flies. ![]() Let them go, biko. Na by force?? Nobody should persuade them to change their minds, oh! At least, we will know those who are left and willing to make Nigeria work. We know that within one month after they get their independence, they will still come back lobbying and begging for entry visas to get back into Nigeria as most of their shops, houses and businesses are located in different parts of Nigeria. At that time, everyone will know who is who. Even till now, they are unable to stay still in one place which is why you find them in strange countries (even those with unpronounceable names), including those states which have 60% to 80% Muslims! ![]() "States are made up of the men that are in them. So therefore, we cannot have better states, unless we have better men." I can't remember the philosopher who made this statement. If Biafra becomes a reality, and the quality of people who administer its' affairs do not change, then it would be an exercise in futility.May God give you your Biafra, oh! Please just don't apply for an entry visa to come back to Nigeria once you get your wish, since you cannot see anything good in Nigeria! Hehehehe.....! ![]() At least, the foreigners in Nigeria do not spew hate in our direction, while they are on our shores. ![]() |
nwadiuko1:No wonder..!! Ah, you are still a small boy who just left school. It shows....eeyah! May your business pick up and grow big, but please show a bit more respect, ok? ![]() |
hansad:Guy, stop ranting!! People from different tribes and ethnic groups ran NITEL. In those good old days, Nitel would always toss your land lines at the end of the month, so you are forced to carry all your phone bills to their office to reconcile your payments, before they restore service. The GM in charge of the Nitel office in my area was an Igbo man. Very difficult man whose mission was to make sure that subscribers suffered for the pleasure of using their land lines. His accountant was also Igbo, but quite helpful. ![]() The clerks were from different tribes (i.e. Idoma, Yoruba, Isoko etc.). There was one Urhobo chic there that my uncle fancied like mad, in those days. He always bought me extra gala and coke, to keep me quiet while he was toasting the girl! ![]() The Nitel technician assigned to our district to restore service on the lines was a Benue man. He had two colleagues from Rivers and Akwa Ibom states who worked with him. We always had to find them something, in order to encourage them to come and fix the lines in our area. ![]() |
atilla:Bros, e be like say you used to live in Ikoyi or for inside Dolphin Estate. Na for that side wey dem install the 269-series. If I check the old Nitel telephone directory, I fit see your name and address for there...! ![]() |

adadadon:Are you sure ! |

hahn:Guy, in some parts of Lekki after the residents got tired of waiting for govt, they contributed money and did their own road themselves using interlocking paving stones. That was when NTDA (New Towns Development Authority) and the Lagos State agencies slammed them with funny levies and increased land use charges! ![]() Instead of govt to commend them, govt decided to punish them. In Jakande area of Lekki, where Siverbird Studios is located, the road got dilapidated and unmotorable. Ben Bruce offered to fix it as part of Silverbird Group's CSR effort. The youths and chiefs of the area asked him to first of all pay them 20 million, before he can commence work on the road. The man abandoned the road and relocated his studios to Silverbird Galleria in Victoria Island. Na who be mumu?? ![]() |
Fairgodwin:Don't mind Adams. He is a turncoat. When he was in NLC, he was on the side of the masses. After he became a governor, he abandoned his creed and became worse than a cut-throat capitalist. In all his years as governor, how many industries did he attract to the state? How many jobs did he create? What great achievement did he spur his people to embark on, in order to win national acclaim? ![]() While his counterparts in Delta and Akwa Ibom states were busy building great roads, world-class hospitals and improving their health care systems, Adams was busy gallivanting between Cape Verde and Nigeria, in order to shop for a new wife that is half his age. ![]() |
Atouba:LWKMD!!! ![]() Abeg, help me tell am! |

Are you saying another BQ is available to let in Safecourt for the same price? Please kindly confirm, if this is correct. ![]() I hear Safecourt tenants pay a service charge. Does that include the BQ occupants? |
