Akposkool:May God help us all!! Na true word you talk! Accidents happen, when health and safety rules are not observed! People are too fond of circumventing town planning laws and regulations in this country, and they are often aided and abetted by those in government. ![]() Boss13: xynerise: atilla:I no know say you sef see am! ![]() When some residents were telling them that the petrol station is too close to the new Lekki-Ikoyi Toll bridge roundabout, as well as too close to residential houses in the estate, the management of the petrol station ably supported by Lagos State Ministry of Planning, claimed that a petrol station was in the master plan. Which master plan? And where is this so-called master plan? Everyone kept quiet because the original master plan drafted in 1982/1985 did NOT have a petrol station in that particular block. So who changed the master plan and when? Nobody responded. This was last year. Even DPR kept quiet. So the issue became a court case. Other residents living on the fringes of the estate whose houses were not even close to the area, also supported ASCON in their pursuit to make money, by putting a petrol station in that vicinity, despite the fact that a petrol tanker had also gone up in flames early last year on Admiralty Way just before the A-series junction close to the Pavilion side adjacent to the lagoon. Now we can all see the effect of the Lagos State agencies' quest to make money at the expense of residents of Phase 1. I feel so sad for both the owners of the station and the residents, as this could have been avoided, if the voice of reason had been allowed to prevail, last year. Lekki Phase 1 Residents Sue ASCON Oil Over Attempt to Construct Petrol Station Inside Estate |
hayatou27:Abeg, help me ask them! When residents in that area were protesting against the siting of a petrol station in that vicinity, other people were accusing them of bad belle. See what has now happened. May God save us all!
RESIDENTS SUE ASCON OVER FILLING STATION Posted by: Precious Igbonwelundu in Law May 13, 2014 •‘It’s abuse of court process’ Residents of Lekki Phase One have gone to a Lagos High Court, to stop ASCON Oil Company Limited from building a petrol station in the area. They are praying for an interlocutory injunction against the firm. In a motion brought before Justice Kazeem Alogba, the claimants, Rasheed Williams, Kayode Aderinokun, Alhaji Useni, Malachy Ezeoke, Mrs. Ogunmokun and Olujide Kuti, are praying the court to mandate ASCON to stop work on Block 36, Plot 10, Lekki Peninsula Scheme I in Eti-Osa Local Government Area of Lagos State, pending the determination of the substantive suit. Lagos State Physical Planning Permit Authority and the Commissioner, Lagos State Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development are other defendants. In their statement of claim, the claimants through their lawyer, Osaro Eghobamien (SAN)said the petrol station will pose a great environmental danger to the residents. They argued that, despite protests by residents, ASCON has fast-tracked work on the property based on a development permit purportedly obtained from the Ministry of Physical Planning. “The first defendant has intensified the construction of the petrol station both day and night with a view towards completing same and commencing operation of the station in a bid to frustrate any opposition to the petrol station. “It is the claimants’ contention that the construction and operation of the petrol station on the particular land have serious environmental impacts which cannot be adequately mitigated. “The environmental consequences of the situation of the petrol station on the land in issue range from environmental degradation, pollution, fire outbreaks and explosions, health hazards, huge traffic congestion and increased insecurity,“ they argued. According to them, an environmental impact assessment ought to have been carried out on the land before the development permit was granted by the authorities for the construction of the petrol station, with a comprehensive report produced to the same effect. In its notice of preliminary objection to the claimants’ suit, ASCON said the suit was premature, adding that the court lacks the jurisdiction to hear the matter, because it is an administrative issue. ASCON averred that the case was an abuse of court process since another suit it instituted against the claimants was pending before the same court, urging the court to strike out the matter. “There is a strong likelihood of judicial embarrassment if the action in this suit is allowed to co-exist with the action in Suit No: M/83/13. “In the premises, the instant action constitutes a gross abuse of judicial process which this Honourable Court lacks jurisdiction to entertain,” the firm stated. http://thenationonlineng.net/new/residents-sue-ascon-filling-station/
|
How much is it, pls? ![]() |
Extensive bodywork is needed on this car. Can it fly for =N=1 million?? Please confirm. ![]() |
hush15:Your last statement is so very funny! "Atleast, democracy is at work. That he could even do it mean any other government who tries rubbish is in for it. Funny enough, I commend him for it cos its an eye opener for us that something feasible if we talk with one voice." Government has been dishing out rubbish for years to its citizens, and nothing has happened! The Discos have been computing crazy, inexplicable figures as electricity bills and dishing them out to customers for ages, and yet nothing has changed despite all their protests. ![]() The solution is not to reduce bills by a certain percentage, but to put in place structures and processes to ensure that consumers are NOT charged arbitrarily for power that they do NOT consume!! ![]() Who can prove that the tarriff would not go back up, after the elections? ![]() You mentioned Folawiyo's depot selling petroleum products at a rate higher than the approved price, which makes it difficult for retailers to sell at government approved prices. Is the DPR dead or blind? Isn't it their job to ensure that products are sold at controlled prices both at the depot and in the filling stations? Why do we always 'politicise' everything instead of calling on relevant agencies to carry out their jobs and sacking those that compromise their duties because of expediency? In another country, the head of DPR would be sacked for failing to ensure that Folawiyo's depot sells fuel at the correct price! |
Is it still available?? ![]() |
koolkesh:Bros, there is no reason to doubt the fact that my friends bout the car at =N=1.7 million. Or do you want me to post a copy of the receipt issued to them here on nairaland before you can believe it? If you are still in doubt walk into the Hyundai office on Adeola Odeku in Victoria Island as well as the one on Ajose Adeogun and ask the Indian managers how much thy sold the first batch of Tucsons ever imported into the country. You would learn a lot from their responses. Finally, as newer models of a car are released, cost of the the older dated models fall in price. Also, prices of used cars differ from one state to the other even within the US. You cannot compare the price of a fresh tokunbo car imported from abroad that is still in solid condition that has gone through foreign MOT checks, with that of a used car that has been driven through our pot-hole ridden roads, fixed with tokunbo spare parts or coupled with poor maintenance culture in Nigeria. Both cars have gone through two different lifestyles and changes. Their prices should reflect this, accordingly. ![]() |
Jorussia:Don't mind Amadi. They should just look for someone else that knows the right thing to do, to take over that seat. NEPA?PHCN was privatised and the first thing the new owners did was to compute crazy bills and pass them on to customers, despite the fact that power supply was on a downward trend. I mean how can you compute a bill of 60,000 naira in one month for a 3-bedroom apartment in Festac town despite the fact that the property in question was not even occupied for more than half of the month?? ![]() Am I running a bakery there or what? This is the same apartment that used to record a monthly bill of =N=7,000 oh, in the days of PHCN. Yet when Eko Disco took over, the bill shot to =N=60k monthly. Totally unscrupulous people. We have written letters upon letters, yet nothing has been done. Now Amadi is speaking German that the tarriff has been cut by 50%, as if he does not know that the Discos will still find ways to smuggle illegal, untenable, inexplicable, illogical figures into their monthly bills. Was it not under Amadi's watch that pre-paid meters of =N=45k suddenly became =N=65k ![]() What has he done about it? Yeye dey smell! |
ednut1:Oh I see....where are the morons that are still praising Fashola ![]() They should pay a visit to Ejigbo Road near Isolo area in Lagos. I guess that is the kind of 'change' they want in their area...mtcheew! ![]() |
raumdeuter:Rubbish! Does Fashola speak for all the residents of Lagos?? Is he psychic to know their mindset?? Have all Lagosians abdicated their will, choices and desires and transferred everything to him, to speak on their behalf? Was there a town hall meeting held by all the 15 million residents of Lagos with Fashola, where it was decided that they would not vote for a particular party?? ![]() Nonsense & ingredients....mtcheew! |
Has this Ejigbo road finally been fixed?? ![]() Updates, anyone? |
Dimienedonkz:May God forgive you for this big lie! I have relatives that live around that axis too, close to Abraham Adesanya estate to be precise.....and they are barely given 3 hours of power supply, once every four days. I spent some time with them, recently. ![]() So where did you get this so-called light that has been lasting for 20 hours per day ? |
tbaba1234:And I hope the judge will examine the facts and dispense it, without fear or favour. The huge expanse of land Tinubu acquired in Ibeju-Lekki through the back door without paying compensation to the indigenes, will finally be exposed....at least, I saw his name on a huge sign-board there just 3 weeks ago. The collective patrimony of an entire clan was dashed out to Tinubu, and their generations unborn are the worse for it! ![]() |
hemanoel01:That skirt is too darn tight! What if she had to take off in hot pursuit after a suspected criminal? Would she be able to run in that skirt?? These are some of those female officers who give other professional women, a bad name... ![]() |
tonychristopher:Bros, na you suppose do your research well oh...these days of the week you cited here, are incorrect. For those of us that attended secondary schools in the South-West, the study of Yoruba Language was compulsory, irrespective of the state or region that you hailed from. I tried to dodge those classes in junior secondary school by letting them know that my native tongue was not Yoruba...but I didn't succeed. Anyway, this is what we were taught: Ojo-Aiku (Sunday), Ojo-Aje (Monday), Ojo-Ishegun (Tuesday), Ojo-Riru (Wednesday),Ojo-Bo/Alamisi (Thursday), Ojo-Eti (Friday) and Ojo-Abameta (Saturday). I don't know where you got your own days from oh..... ![]() |
tbaba1234:And the person that has been slandered...what is he doing about it? A man who cares about his reputation/name and who has facts to prove that he has been slandered, would not lie low. ![]() He would be throwing press conferences to clear his name, seeking redress through the law courts (not just issuing threats to go to court) and tendering facts in the public domain to show that he did not appropriate state-owned assets unlawfully, or greedily acquire landed property through illegal, unethical means and neither does he have interests or shares in Alpha Beta consultants, that is currently milking Lagos State treasury dry. ![]() A man that is truly innocent of these charges or allegations would be fighting tooth and nail using every legal & constitutional means available to clear his name. But what has Tinubu done? He is busy holding court with his fawning, gullible courtiers on Bourdillon! By the way, how much tax have those consultants paid from the day they were engaged, till date? Can anyone supply facts & figures? |
johnny1980:Come here and collect a royal handshake for this piece of investigative work! ![]() When people cannot support their position with facts and figures, they resort to propaganda and falsehood. Thank you for exposing them, jare... Na you, biko! |
GenIgrigi:"He may be accused of sacrificing them" ...by who?? ![]() |
midolian:He cannot jail his corrupt sponsors. This is the same Buhari that exonerated Abacha and defended him, by saying Abacha was not a thief. All the millions found in Abacha's Swiss bank accounts came from where?? How much was Abacha's salary as Head of State?? ![]() |
tbaba1234:Haba, Bros!! No talk dis kind thing again. The railway tracks ran behind my uncle's house in Kaduna and for many years until 1994, we used to see the trains going back and forth tooting their loud horns, even in the middle of the night. All activity stopped that year! The trains were dead! They were revived briefly in 1997-2001. Then they died a 2nd death. We did not see trains running again on those tracks till 2011.Anyway, I agree with the last part of your post about government work being an obligation and a service. In fact, they should be thanking the masses for using the trains!! ![]() |
Unfortunately, Nigeria Railway Corporation (NRC) is not being run by commercial managers with adequate foresight. The coaches are still over-crowded. The toilets on board the trains are still filthy. The intra-city train schedule to cover train routes within Lagos cannot be found online. Bookings and payment cannot be made online. The terminals are poorly maintained and uncomfortable e.g. Jebba terminus is dilapidated and has no power supply, till date. The catering rest houses which should be money spinners for the corporation if they were well-run, have been allowed to go down the drain due to their shoddy services... And the list is so long! Why can't NRC correct these deficiencies first by engaging the private sector to handle some of these areas, in order to provide better service to the public?? ![]() |
tswitch:Fashola has goofed several times on this his Blue Line or Red Line train project. ![]() Like some one said earlier, "light rail projects are implemented in phases." Agreed. So what stops him from implementing the Okomaiko to Orile phase to kick-off the railway line project so that people can start riding in it, before the tracks running to Marina are completed? Apart from this, Fashola is buying railway locomotives and coaches that are regarded as 'scrap', from Canada, for an exorbitant amount. Has he heard of metal fatigue? Some of the equipment he bought have outlived their useful life span and yet, these are the kind of things that he belives the people of Lagos deserve. ![]() Haba! 'Eko oni baje...ju ba'yi lo', to quote well-meaning LAGOSIANS. |
Is the LR3 still available?? Kindly confirm. Where is it currently located?? ![]() |
This post is very funny. When Hyundai Tucson came out brand new in 2008, it was selling for =N=1.7 million. I remember this, because a few of my colleagues wanted to buy it, unfortunately the first batch sold out in record time before it got to their turn, so they had to deposit their money with the Indian company that imported the Tucson back then, in order to get the first option of picking from the 2nd batch, once it arrived. The tokunbo model could not have cost up to that amount. Now, you are here offering a used registered 2006 tokunbo model of the same Tucson for =N=1.4 million. Do the maths, my friend. That price will not fly! ![]() |
This is a 2-wheel drive and not a 4-wheel drive. It does not have much to recommend it... ![]() |
favourmic:Did you really say this So because a policeman has a family to feed, that gives him the license to extort and brutalise innocent civilians, whose taxes are being used to pay his salary?? Have you ever been brutalised or harassed by a policeman before, for no just cause? Just for the record...how old are you? Maybe we can excuse this infantile reasoning on the basis of your juvenile age! |
BabaO2:What a totally outrageous and infantile comment that has no bearing in reality!!! So because GEJ was in Lagos, the policemen on that route were on holiday?? |
MadCow1:Bros, I no know say you sef see am! ![]() There is even a police post right within the Lekki Phase 1 Estate, about 7 minutes drive from the scene. And there is an Armoured Personnel carrier (APC) or armoured tank manned by kevlar-kitted police men, stationed at Lekki Phase 1 Main gate on the way to the toll-gate. Like you also rightly mentioned the Maroko Police Station is just round the corner from Lekki Phase 1. During the robbers operation, the sound of gunshots was so audible that people living 4 to 5 streets away could hear the shots and I know for a fact that some of those people living in that area, immediately called Maroko Police Station when the exchange of gun fire started. And Fashola's spin doctors want us to belive that all these police men were not informed in time, and that all of them were deployed to guard GEJ during his visit to Lagos. Mtcheewww! ![]() They should think of another excuse, jare. Not everyone that lives in that area is a fool. |
joeyfire:Hehehehe ....! I no know say you sef see am! ![]() They made it compulsory for everyone to install pre-paid meters in my estate for water supply. We did so and bought credit to pay our water bills, via the banks. Yet for the past 2 months, Lagos State Water Corporation have stopped supplying us with pipe borne water despite all our entreaties and repeated visits to their office. We brought out all our payment slips and asked them to reconcile our bills and payments made till date, to prove that we are not owing them a dime. They declined, stating that since we now use pre-paid meters they do not have any records on payments made into their account by residents, and as such they cannot carry out any reconciliation! Imagine! We have all finally decided to construct a borehole in our compound, to save us from further agony. Now Fashola wants to privatise the water supply that does not exist. May God save us from this present government in Lagos.... Can I get an Amen from somebody...?? ![]() |
aresa:Kindly name the local schools that are being supplied with power generated from Fashola's IPP. To the best of my knowledge 80% of the primary and secondary schools in Lagos State are NOT being supplied with power from the IPP. Many of them lack clean potable pipe borne water, adequate sanitary facilities and WC. It is far cheaper to provide boreholes, toilets and sanitary facilities in these schools that to set up IPP to power their appliances. Yet, this has not been done in two-thirds of Lagos primary and post-primary public schools. ![]() A lot of them cannot recall the last time they had steady electricity supply, since they are all hooked to the national grid. So which schoold did Fashola's IPP supply power to? Kindly let us know. ![]() |
