TravelRe: Living In Canada/Life As A Canadian Immigrant Part 2 by Laurendee: 5:41pm On Feb 22, 2020
How can I get an health care giver or health care support job in Canada while I’m still processing my registration as a Canadian Registered Nurse which usually takes a few years.

Are there any specific requirements for the home care giver or assistant job?

Please is it possible for one to immigrate as a nurse with an RN and bsc without doing internship or nysc. I’m yet to start my internship and I just obtained a Canadian work permit. Can I start my nnas application and move to Canada without doing internship in Nigeria especially

Can a registered nurse with a BSN also apply for a post graduate certificate in critical care nursing or nursing leadership and administration let’s say in a college? Is it possible to get admission and visa since the person also has a bsn

You don't need GRE or IELTS to get into LSCM(University of Windsor)....It is waived for Nigerians.
Okay thank you. I’ll start my application for winter 2021 then.

How long did it take before your admission offer was given to you by university of Windsor after submitting all the requirements?

Good evening

Who’s willing to review my Letter of Intent for me?

I’m applying for a masters program in masters of management(logistics and supply chain) in university of Windsor.

I just finished with it and would like someone to review it to ensure it’s good enough to send it in.

Naijaforeigner:
Most universities don’t have the co-op option. If you have the CGPA that can get you into a masters in LSCM then you should consider that first. University of Windsor fees for 16 months in MSC LSCM equals what you will spend in 2 years of college for PGD LSCM.

Let me ask you a question, do you or your sponsor have the money at the moment to pay for 2 years in college or you only have money for 1 year?
Checked university of Windsor, I didn’t find Msc LSCM on there.

I’ll be sponsoring myself and currently I have the money for one year, that’s why I’m trying to make as much findings as possible so maybe I’ll delay my application till I have completed my money for whatsoever university or college I opt for.

A gpa of 4.2 is a sufficient gpa for masters right?

Some universities have gmat or gre as a minimum requirement for masters in LSCM so I’ve already started working on gre just in case and since it’s valid for 5 years it can’t be of waste.

Are you sure it is 12 months duration? It says 1 year program on school website does not mean it is 12 months, you need to confirm from the school if it is 2 or 3 semesters. I think it is most likely going to be an eight months program.

The poster you quoted usually recommends Connestoga on this thread probably because he is an alumni of the college.

I think you should search for 3 - 5 schools, compare and then choose the school that you prefer. I will also suggest, if you decide to go for Logistics and Supply Chain Management, choose a school that offers the program with co-op.

Is 1 year PGWP enough time to look for job and process PR? It depends on so many factors which has been discussed some weeks back on this thread. Links attached below.

Thank you so much, this was really helpful.

I’ve searched so many universities, haven’t seen any that offer supply chain with co op option. Some have masters in supply chain but the tuition are kind of high and it’s a 16 month program. Most offer it as PBD or PGC. So kind of confused

Hello Laurendee,

The common similar between the two is that they are both done after a first degree. In brief, a PBD can easily pave a switch to another area or field of study and can as well use to support a weak first degree.

A PGC can be done to acquire an academic knowledge/certificate in a developing or new professional interest line.

For more info, you can google.

The 20 months program is equivalent to 2yrs. Most programs in some/almost all schools runs for 8 months making it 16 months for a 2yrs program. This qualify you for a 3yr PGWP.

All the best.
Thank you so much. If I have an option of choosing between a PBD of 20 months and a PGC of 1 year both offering supply chain management. Which would you advice me to go for?

Please is a post baccalaureate diploma and a post graduate certificate the same?

Also how many years pgwp is given for a 20 month course
TravelRe: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 16 by Laurendee: 1:32pm On Jan 08, 2020
Jephehe:
I will suggest you to go for Supply Chain Management - Global which is a Post graduate course in Conestoga College

https://www.conestogac.on.ca/fulltime/supply-chain-management-global

The below bold is a redflag
Okay thank you so much. I noticed conestogac is often suggested here. I checked the supply chain there and it’s a post graduate certificate of 12 months duration. My question is since it’s a one year course I’ll be given one year pgwp. Is that enough time to start processing permanent residency or how can I go about it please?

Hello, i completed my bsc in accounting and I’m currently running masters in business Administration at open university but I wish to specialize in supply chain management and logistics which I would like to do in Canada.
Niagara College offers it as an advanced Diploma course. I want to know my chances of getting a study permit visa if I go it since I already have a bsc and masters.

What is your definition of a good choice?
A good choice in the sense that is it worth paying all that money for and does it help or make the process of becoming a Canadian RN less cumbersome?

I just found out about it recently so I want to get as much info as I can on them before getting into it, can you share any information you know about the college please

ICaSNg:
You can start your Irish Nursing license processing from Nigeria so far you have at least 2/3 years full time work experience- Its very straightforward and similar to the Canadian WES process.

If you however choose to go for a masters in Nursing, you have automatic 2 years work permit but you still need to get your Irish nursing permit sorted before you can practise as a Nurse in Ireland.

Cheers
Thanks so much. You mentioned 2/3 years of full work experience but on the NMBI site, it says one year though but can a year internship count as a full year work experience?

Hello please I need clarifications and advice on somethings. I’m soon graduate from the university with a bsc in nursing, already a licensed registered nurse and midwife as well. I’ll be going for my nursing intership soon here in Nigeria. I want to do my masters program in nursing in Ireland and also get registered as a nurse in Ireland as well. I noticed in most Irish universities I have to be an Irish licensed nurse to do most of the masters. So my question is, if I start my Irish nurse registration process and it’s a success would I apply for a study or work visa at the embassy cause I want to be able to work and study at the same time. How should I go about it??

IyaEjima:
Hi, this is a tough question I must admit. I wanna believe the RN in question doesn’t have a Bachelor’s degree of any kind?? If yes, then the person can only get evaluated for the LPN category via NNAS, as you need a university degree for RN now. Also if the person wants to solely “work” then he/she must have PR plans in place as its a herculean task to get an LPN employer without having at least a work or study permit / PR and a license.
Getting admission into a Canadian uni would be a better option cuz u’d have a study permit which allows u work and pursue NNAS at the same time, but it’s not a cheap option cuz u’d be paying for tuition and licensure waka. Better option would be to get admission for a Postgraduate nursing course in either Niagara college or one of the colleges in Ontario. Expensive but can grant you PR and licensure in the long run. Best of luck!
Iya Ejima, I have some clarifications please and would like if anyone here could help. If I start my NNAS application from Nigeria and I get my advisory report and all and I have to leave for Canada for the other exams when I apply to the board. 1. What type of visa would I apply for and what documents would I submit in order to be granted a visa
2. I’m about to finish my bsc nursing and would like a masters in nursing in Canada but I checked the requirements and I have to be licensed as a nurse in the particular province to be eligible for the masters. So my question is what way is the best for me to pursue this.
I don’t know if this is a good idea, but I was thinking of maybe applying for a masters in maybe public health just to get a student visa for entry into Canada for the purpose of completing all necessary things to get registered as a nurse in Canada, then after I get it I’d apply for the masters in nursing.

I don’t really know if it’s a good idea but I really advice.

Hi, I’m a Nigerian/Canadian RN, I did go through NNAS (but I graduated from EBSU not OAU). Everyone I know with a Nigerian degree so far has gottten “not-comparable” as their outcome for RN evaluation. Regardless, the different provincial regulatory bodies decide if you’ll get licensed (or what the next step would be) based on your competence assessment / OSCE results.
Please I’m a little confused on what provinces to pick for my NNAS evaluation. Can someone advice what provinces have good opportunities for international nurses and one I don’t have to take the ielts for evaluation too. I don’t mind taking the ielts if I have to though.
