Exactly part of the reason I wrote the quoted post above. Free healthcare has to be met with the realisation that expectation and 'misuse' would ballon with time. Hence and if there is no equivalent increase in funding and workforce improvement, problems would occur. The inability to envisage and address this is the reason why the NHS is the political talking point today. The altruistic sounding free care has also caused significant drain of human capital from the outer world. Which is also something the govt and WHO recognise and seek to regulate.

I'm in support of you advocating for the scan for your child because you can never be too careful with children, I don't see this as a waste of NHS resources.

What I'm not in support of is people demanding full MOT blood tests from their GP[b] just because they paid the IHS [/b]or showing up at A&E with a sprained ankle and expecting to be seen immediately :|

Irrespective of where one stands on this, there is alot to be learned from China especially for folks from the global south.

China has been thru alot. Even before Japan, a few decades earlier there were the opium wars where which were basically Britain asking to pay China for agricultural produce by supplying them opium. When they refused, Britain and allies invaded, forced them to accept and use opium as pay plus a host of other unfair treaties such as giving up Hong-Kong. What followed was hundred years of humiliation. Even when China agreed to fight alongside the allies in return for their seized land, Britain turned around and handed the land over to Japan all in a bid to humiliate them.


It took alot for them to purge themselves of this and regain some self consciousness. Today, China is about the largest trading partner of most nations. A driver in many fields, practically impossible to sanction and yet has began to improve prosperity by means of relatively fair relations and trade not by conquest and war. Many nations in Africa would have a much more practicable means of getting to the top by following the footsteps of China rather than by blindly following the West as frankly speaking we have no countries to steal wealth off and then claim democracy when we get to the top.

You must be a joker to think that because one is in the West, one cannot criticize objectively and quote data and facts that are littered all over the internet on how the US and her allies have assassinated heads of states, invaded and bombed nations causing significant human right violations, genocide etc. I do that and I hate the US and NATO.

That I'm in the West doesn't remove the fact that the US have always and would always remain the bigger aggressor over Russia, China et al.

There is still a lot of poverty in China. A lot of them are like slaves. Working 247. Child labour is huge. My organisation used to have a factory there and it is unbelievable what they are subject to.

again I understand that you're entitled to your opinion, but when something works, I am very very amenable to change. China is a great example. Gerrard59 is in Japan, most don't look to places like China and Japan, but still doesn't change the fact that autocratic China that was struggling with poverty less than 50 years ago, has an economy bigger than competing with the USA today (*modified/corrected* cos it is not in absolute terms but only when you consider Purchasing Power Parity), and is number one on virtually everything you can think of (quality of education, health systems, infrastructure etc.) Google it if in any doubt. We just tend to not really attach much attention or significance to non-english speaking countries. Russia is still far better than Germany economically toady even despite two years of significant sanctions. The top rankings for education and healthcare, English speaking countries no even dey top 20.

Life doesn't start and end with English speaking countries o...or democracy. Autocracy certainly works for some, and democracy isn't absolutely the best. I actually believe Nigeria will be in better state with an autocratic leader who has the nation at heart, even if he only has it at heart up to just 25% and is selfish with the remaining 75%

No one is saying not to speak your truth, but why choose to apply for a visa to live in a country that you don't trust or agree with (majority of) their laws,ethics or policies - and spend a lot of your time unhappy/angry and criticising said policies.... You couldn't pay me to live in Russia, Iran, China etc as their governments don't even care what the people think.

Well said....people painting Russia as the victim is laughable. The US isn't innocent/perfect sure, no country is. But we're talking about a "man" who was behind the shooting down of a full passenger plane, killing 300 innocent civilians. A "man" whose political opponents meet untimely deaths both in Russia and overseas...anyone remember Livitneko who was poisoned and killed in a UK hospital in 2006....and attempted murders of other russian nationals a few years ago in Salisbury....on and on it goes, but somehow he's the aggrieved party ....it's true that some people love a dictator

In that case what is the difference with just distributing that money to the poor citizens of the USA for free ? It would be even better than giving the money to billionaires and having the billionaires give crumbs to a few selected poor people known as "the workers".
You could also use that money to build bridges, or to rebuild the failing infrastructure or for health-care. What does making bombs for Ukraine add to the lives of average poor USA citizens ?

If the USA wants to use it's money to build stuff to send abroad to non Americans for no benefit to americans, then they should send me some billions worth of apple computers 💻 That would be more useful than building bombs for people whom are about to be defeated and to surrender those bombs to Russia.
