ehizario2012: In truth, do core racists see black Africans and say Chinese, Indians, Pakistani, North Africans etc as the same? Seems they have a special place in their dirty hearts for black Africans especially. Black Africans. White and black won’t get along. We can always continue to tolerate each other. They mess with us always because our leaders work for them one way or another. Chinese people can be use as case study: China is arguable the most advance country in recent times. Hence that level of achievement is what people see when you see a Chinese citizen. We will continue to be looked down upon until when Africa starts developing its region. The change begins with you and I. |

topellycategory: It's high time you understand the fact that is an online forum doesn't give you the chance to over use it . Your constant unnecessary mocking, laughing emojis make you look like a troll , you come across like someone desperately seeking attention online.
Do you have to rub it on people face every time that you're a British citizen and for the record iam a naturalised British citizen just like many other silent readers/members on Nairaland. You don't know how your mockery comments sometimes can come off on some people online who are going through one thing or the other . Iam aware you give out current useful informations kudos to you for that .
I know for sure a lot of people here knows your actions most times is totally off but they just don't want to tell you.
Fine you want to be acting funny online everytime because it's a Free world atleast be considerate of other people feelings as well ! Seeking attention my black ass. He has freedom of to say his piece. Whoever can’t stand the heat should get out the kitchen. Person dey use emoji una say e dey mock people. Our emotion runs hot for things that doesn’t matter that’s why we are backward as a country. |

jedisco: Alot of lazy folks have hidden under the bandwagon of immigration/Brexit to milk the system + hapless immigrants. Currently 2.8 million on longterm sick. Ultimately the most effective way to reduce that number is to make work pay. All the talk about NHS wait lists are additional.
Reason why I wanted the care visa to end so eye go clear everybody. One told me over the weekend that she'd rather flip burgers at Macdonalds than be paid minimum wage for a care role. (I have rephrased her words nicely).
Council recently sent me a letter informing me council tax is going up by 12%. i.e I'm now to pay 2.4k+ a year. Guess the main driver? Adult social care which is also the story for many other councils. Annoyingly, e go still increase next year as many folks and their nans want carers four times a day plus supported living not including thise seeking free council house e.t.c all paid for by others peoples taxes. These same folks would still say its tax paying immigrants looting the system.
I hope when time reaches for tax paying immigrants to benefit from same adult social care, there wouldn't be calls saying these new group of Brits were not born here. Only if Nigeria could work. UK policy’s towards immigrants is a sinister one. That’s why I do always shekpe for anybody and their family involve in Nigeria being backwards. |

lightofjoy: Hello my people, I have come again, my appreciation for your prompt response to my request/worry earlier today, I appreciate them a lot. My thanks goes to @Lexusgs430, @Controlv, @LaXxOnebody, @LionlnZion and my special thanks to @Jamesclooney; God bless you sir for your advice and encouragement, am grateful. I appreciate all Nairaland family, this is a community like family that relieve your burden when you don't see way forward. About my last request and worries, tonight around past 7pm, I got home office approval for our skilled worker dependent visa and that of my children. I will tell little of my story, I came into the UK late 2022 on a student visa, couldn't get a job, we were spending the little change we brought from Nigeria though we had paid 6 months rent in advance before leaving Nigeria and that really helped us when there was no job. Early 2023 I later got a factory work, after working there for like 4 weeks, the stress was too much on me so I had to resign, the thing wan destroy my waist and leg, so I ran for my life. Thereafter I was using my car for Domino delivery though they only give me around 14hrs/week and sometimes even 10 hrs/week. I also was doing teaching as a cover supervisor to cover the remaining hours. Also my wife was really helpful during this my 1 year studies. Fast forward, I was applying for jobs late December as my course ends in January, 2024, a lot of rejection because of student visa stuff but from January 2024, I started getting some interviews but when it gets to right to work, they always back off.
Along the line, an agent from an online jobsite categorically call me and told me that since I don't have UK experience, I should come down on my salary expectation and come to something like 35K or 40K but with my 16 years professional experiences and my experience in my last job in Nigeria, I was determined to go for the best. Also, from this forum, there were advices by some of our people that said you should go for the salary range you want and someone even said here that don't apply for salary range you don't want. Before I forget, I graduated with distinction when my result came out in February (All Glory to God). All these encourage me to go for what I want, I was applying for as many as I could in my desired salary range and later within the last two weeks of interview I got a job of over 60K with hybrid working and a lot of benefits. I am so grateful to God for His mercies and to this forum for all the precious advises. Am grateful.
I decided to write this long epistle as this might encourage someone in this group that it will always get better. Thank you once again. Please pardon me for any typo. Congratulations. 60K Bros do giveaway na. If you dont mind is this a tech role? |

dupyshoo: As I have said before, you will never be entitled to any public fund even as a British citizen, so far you are working hard. It will get worse.
The amount I pay in tax and Ni alone every month is enormous (way more than 3 times yearly IHS)).
I am not entitled to child benefit, free child care, nothing!!!
Recently, we paid close to £40k for a second home stamp duty tax because we are yet to sell our first house. This is just tax o, not deposit.
The system will keep collecting. So, if you are expecting access to public fund, you better start reconsidering. A nurse today said she has contributed 30k tax and NI yet she is not entitled to pub funds. |

Jamesclooney: Exactly. Man proposes, God disposes. Few days ago, I caught up with my coursemate from over 10yrs ago in a Russell Group uni and we were discussing escalation of tuition fees. In 2010, middle class families could plan with 5 or 6m /annum to send their kids abroad. Now same undergraduate degree is about 60M per annum!!! Which kind of planning do you want to do to afford that dream now? It means only politicians or extremely wealthy people can sponsor their children abroad. It’s totally crazy. Not to mention those caught in the crosshairs of £1/2000+ from £1/500+ CBN rate two years ago. This has always been plans of politicians to keep the poor in stagnation while their kids attain quality education abroad. |

Santa2: @ the bolded..I know cases where people planned well and still got the burnt end of the stick. Its not really a one size fit all. Someone I know after being sponsored for 3 and half years, His organisation filed for bankruptcy and when under. That's how dude found himself without sponsorship and with just 90days to find another. Despite being a software developer he was unable to get a job to sponsor him within the time period. He got several offers but just not one that would sponsor. Bobo was well established here, bought his house, and all. Luckily he already had plan B else na back to Tibunu and sundry. He still feels burnt on how he had to leave the country. May life not happen to us despite all our plans. This country and its fluctuating policies and system. Spousal visa is the way to go. |
