Romance › The Ills Of Making Marriage A Priority In Our Society by Lawsimon(op): 3:33pm On Sep 22, 2015 |
Marriage in Nigeria has become a do-or-die affair. Pressure from various quarters against those who have reached marriageable age is unbearable. Such people are regarded as irresponsible in the society. In Nigeria, certain privileges elude them, simply because the society look at them in a certain way. The societal pressure has forced many to marry out of their will. This has led many into bankruptcy after the marriage ceremony. Our economy and cultures are not also helping the situation. It is now a trend for people to borrow money to fund their marriage. The question now is: as a man, would you collect a loan from bank to get married, when you know that age is against you? As a woman, can you give your man money to marry you, if you have the financial power. On the other hand, as a man, would you accept such an offer from the woman you want to marry? I implore the Mods to do the needful and I expect matured responses from members of this esteem community. |

Abugab: If Saraki gets booted out which is likely or get's highly tamed, Ekweremadu will not survive the wind too. He could likely be pushed out first to pave way for a sim-less change over. Ekweremadu's skeletons will soon be exhumed and brought to the fore and so he can't have a smooth ride. I am sure APC already has this planned out as Lawal could still lead the senate before this administration expires. Saraki allowed his ambition to thwart his rational prowess knowing fully well that he is dealing with his likes but with a HIGHER POWER which will be the joker and decider in this game Political permutation and political punditing. |

Yhunoos: Now i know why PMB doesn't want ministers
they are all goina be influenced by this greedy, selfish politicians.
I wonder who leaked this supposed 'list' sef the secret of Buhari's delay in appointing ministers may not have been let out. He may have used the time to familiar himself with the permanent secretaries, Directors and their Assistants in ministries, Departments and Agencies of the Federal Government and know them by names. Without the cooperation of these people mentioned, the ministers cannot loot and embezzle funds. If I were Buhari, I would ensure that I used the civil servants secretly to check the excesses of the ministers, to justify the change mantra of his administration. |

kestolove95: France...dix same useless country that supported dat evil tin call biafra, I hate d country France did that for their interest of perpetually neo-colonizing francophone ECOWAS states, which Nigeria poses a serious threat to. That is why from time to time, they hid under the guise of Senegal and Ivory Coast to oppose Nigeria from emerging as a Sub-regional power. That is why they will stop at nothing in ensuring that the goals and objectives of ECOWAS are not achieved, because it will enable the ECOWAS Francophone states to have some level of economic freedom. Moreover, Nigeria will, to some extent, begin to detect and influence economically and politically, which will be a big blow to their sphere of influence in the Sub Sahara Africa. What France want is a fragmented Nigeria which Biafran adherents are fully in support. The surest way of Nigeria becoming a leader even in Africa is to settle her internal problem(RESTRUCTURING OF NIGERIA - RESOURCE CONTROL AND DEVOLUTION OF POWER), not paying lip service. If this is not done, Nigeria will never know peace. Peace cannot thrive in an unjust environment. And her goal of being a leader in African continent will continue to be a mirage. |

Ymodulus: Typing...
I expected you to outline the corruption characteristics of deltans.
1. Ex Governor of Delta state (Uduaghan) Budgeted 7.4Billion Naira for clearing grasses , shrubs , sands and trees around Asaba Airport.
2. Ex Delta Governor James Ibori has a high breaking corruption record. He stole a large amount.
3. Delta is the only state where 9 out of every 10 persons are billionaires yet there is nothing to show for it.
Finally its not about just calling big names. What have they achieved? How have the impacted on the masses.
With the high number of so called millionaires and famous names in the likes of
Francis Atuche ( Nigeria renowned Fraudstar ) Pat Utomi ( who was labelled a fake igbo when he wanted to contest the 2007 election by same igbo who want to call deltans theirs ) Pat. okorocha ( Current governor is a mouth maker ) Prof. Joseph Chike Edozien, CFR, JP, the Asagba (traditional ruler) of Asaba - the oldest professor in Nigeria alive ( And what did he contribute? ) * Chief. Sonny Iwedike Odogwu, A Great Business Mogul ( Been a business man with no impact of his business on the people of Delta state ) * Dr. Andrew Azukaego Moemeka ( just a space blocker ) * Dr. Cyril Uchenna Gwam, Diplomat, international civil servant and international environmentalist ( environmentalist? Can't stop laughing where was he during the oil spilling and the Ken sawo wiwa case ) * Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, the current Managing Director of World Bank ( this one ruined our economy to shambles ) * Dr Elizabeth Isichei, prominent historian ( historian who don't want to tell you the real history of deltans ) * Dr. Isaac Nwaise, Epidemiologist and health economist * Air-Marshal Paul Dike, former Chief of Defence Staff of Nigeria ( This is the same man igbos shouted is not a real igbo. After he was appointed and Mike okiro was to be made IGP igbos recounted their mistakes ) * Professor Augustine Onwuyali Esogbue, The only African included in NASA and Scientist ( Stop claiming he is an African he has no impact on deltans. Him been a Nasan adds nothing to Delta state. Or when last have your government spent money on space research? ) * Professor Buchi Emecheta, London Based Author ( So what is his article ) * Chukwurah Joseph Udeh OFR, Former Comptroller-General Nigerian Immigration Service ( you mean the man who hiked and changed several legal happenings in the custom services?) * Prof Eric Opia, Former Governorship candidate of Delta State ( No impact ) * Mr Jim Ovia, M/D Zenith Bank ( MD my foot. Go to Ibusa the only bank there is that brought in by former MD of PHB bank who was sacked for fraud by the erudite scholar sanusi lamido sanusi. Seasoned economist * Prof. Joy Ogwu, Former Mangaging Director of Nigeria Institute of International Affairs * Professor Pat Utomi, Presidential Candidate and Founder of Lagos Business School ( he is the only deltan with a for sight who has made it. But igbos rejected him even after been married to an eastern wife ) * Tony Elumelu, MD of United Bank for AfricaAfrica ( Bank know for high rates and low ccare service is this an achievement? ) *
* Austine "Jay-Jay Okocha, Former Captain of Super Eagles of Nigeria ( how did is carrier ended with the super eagles? Because of 10million with defunct Savannah bank ) * Sunday Oliseh, Former Captain of super Eagles of Nigeria ( who is this one self. Nigerian present coach? What's are his achievement ? ) *
Nothing absolutely nothing to show for. Go to the south west and pick examples. Learn from seasoned activist , politicians, business men and technocrats etc. bring up a state in the South West. We are not talking about the whole South South here. |

uselessgoat: There is a popular saying that to keep Nigeria one is a task that must be done. We need ourselves more than ever. There is strenght in our diversity and if properly utilized we can build a stronger Nigeria. The Igbos really need to drop this idea of Biafra because it is dead on arrival. Secession is not the solution to the high poverty rate in the south east neither will it eliminate greedy politicians who have refused to let the SE thrive. The igbos need to look inward and look for ways they can develop their region within the Nigerian context. We the Yorubas are not bothered about breaking away. We worked so hard to develop Lagos and the South west so everyone can thrive and this is why the igbos and other tribes keeps flocking to the SW to tap from the potentials and opportunities Yoruba land has to offer. This is the kind of mentality the Igbos need to develop. South sudan broke away from sudan and still nothing has changed because they remain poor and depend on aids to survive. The igbos need to work together with every section of Nigeria so they can be relevant in the Nigerian system instead of calling we the Yoruba's slaves to Hausa-fulani. The igbos are the real slaves here because they are the ones in bondage and yearning for freedom. The igbos should remember the last civil war and never allow Nnamdi Kanu to lure them into another blood bath. Biafra is a dream that cant be realized. We will support the Hausa-Fulanis to resist any form of secession. We will defend the unity of One Nigeria just like we did in the late 60's. A word is enough for the wise.
SAY NO TO BIAFRA
GOD BLESS OUR UNITED NIGERIA. clap for yourself. You work so hard to develop Lagos. See how you dey fail exam. |
