Funky123:I used etx.ng last August and I paid 22k for the transcript and courier fee. A friend processed his just last week through a contact in the school. He paid 15k for the transcript and got the transcript (sealed in an envelope) within three days. |
The revised National Housing Fund Law, which was recently passed by the National Assembly, could lead to elevated costs for several businesses in the country. Here are highlights of the law: Mandatory 2.5% contribution of monthly income by employees earning minimum wage and above in public and private sectors 2.5% of income by self-employed individuals 2.5% on cement, locally produced or imported Employers are to deduct and remit the contributions monthly The penalty for noncompliance of up to N100 million for corporates and N10m for individuals Sanctions include cancellation of operating licence of banks, insurance companies and PFAs for violations Withdrawal by contributors who have attained the age of 60 years or 35 years of service to be at an interest rate of 2% per annum The Fund and any refund of contributions are exempted from payment of taxes. Implications of the law The law, if assented to by President Muhammadu Buhari, could have several negative effects on both businesses and investors in the country. Here are a few drawbacks of the law. Businesses will be stifled Section 6 of the law states that every commercial bank is mandated to invest a minimum of 10% profit before tax into the fund at an interest rate of 1% above the interest rate payable on current accounts. The same applies to merchant banks, insurance companies, and pension fund administrators. Some of these firms already pay a multiplicity of taxes. Corporate Income taxes, as well as Education Trust Fund deductions. They will thus be forced to either lower their profits through legal means. Higher Building Costs The imposition of a 2.5% levy on cement produced in the country will lead to more expensive building costs. An irony, since the very essence of the law, is to enhance affordable housing. This cost will eventually be passed on to the final consumer since the dominant cement operator is essentially a price setter. Draconian fines The fines for non-compliance by both individuals and businesses are highly draconian. Few businesses can afford to pay a N100 million fine. This will force many enterprises to go under. Investors are affected The companies in the financial space are largely the most profitable in a struggling economy. The dominant owners may get away through a byzantine web of technical agreements and fees, but the retail investors will bear the brunt of the action. https://nairametrics.com/2019/03/18/highlights-of-the-revised-national-housing-fund-nhf-law/ |
Hollarmighty:ATS + BSc will give you 2 or more certs. No point including ICAN ACA, WES won't give it a positive evaluation. |
Ifeoma77:WES evaluated my BSc (3 years) and ND as two or more certificates. A couple of friends also evaluated with WES their BSc (3 years) and ICAN ATS, which they used to gain direct entry, and they got two or more certificates. IMO, I think WES sees a BSc (obtained through DE) and the requisite certificate as two distinct certificates. |

Dannyko:Thanks. I have got the Tbill certificate, but my bank isn't willing to issue anything else beside that. Given that the investment was done for the sole purpose of using it for POF, I am worried that IRCC may raise questions later if I use only the certificate. |
Good evening fam Please, for those that used Tbill certificate as POF 100%, did you have to submit a bank reference letter in addition to the Tbill certificate? Thanks |
Barrytone:It depends on the face value of your investment. That is, if your upfront interest was reinvested. Let me assume you were credited with the interest. Interest credited = 10.6%×6,900,000/364×90= N180,840.66 The bid rate for the tenor (14/04/2019) of your investment at the end of Friday's trading activities was 14.1%. If you decide to terminate tomorrow and we assume it is done at 14.1%, you would have held your bill for 10 days and the would be buyer holds it for the remaining 80 days. New buyer interest = 14.1%×6,900,000/364×80= N213,824.18 Expected loss=N32,983.52 Please note the above is meant to be indicative. What you lose or gain depends on the face value of your investment (either upfront interest is credited to your account or reinvested), the rate at which the bill is sold, the day you decide to terminate it and whether your bank charges for early termination.

SOS. Has anyone been able to verify their NECO transcript ![]() Seven weeks and still counting, nothing yet. |
About time I ask. Has anyone been luck with NECO transcript verification? Mine is over 6 weeks now, no response from NECO yet. ![]() |
Yakay: Hephgirl:I applied through their Lagos State office. Beside the N18500 that I paid, I did not have to tip anyone. No link in Minna either. See link below for the process. https://www.nairaland.com/4657743/canadian-express-entry-federal-skilled/62#70167708 |
NECO is quite fast with issuing transcript. Application made August 10, transcript received and acknowledged by WES August 23. Neco used DHL |
COPR:Thanks. I'll PM you when I get a confirmation the application has been sent to Minna. The woman did say the forms submitted so far will be dispatched next Monday. |
Iyamarun:Yes. I applied this week, and I saw like 10 or so other names on the list applying for same to be sent to Wes. Total cost is N18500 - N1000 for confirmation of result and N17500 for the transcript and courier. To avoid waste of time, make the 1k confirmation of result via remita before you go there. Visit www.remita.net On the page, click on "Pay FGN and State TSA. A dropdown pops up, click on Federal Government of Nigeria. On the next page, fill the below. i Name of MDA: Type National Examination Council (while typing National Examin... the name will come up itself) ii Name of Service/Purpose: pick Tender Fees in the drop-down. iii Description: Type Confirmation of result iv Amount: 1000 v GIFMIS code: you can skip this as the field isn't compulsory vi Payer's Full name: type your name as it appears on your certificate/statement of result vi Payers Email: Please ensure you use a valid email address as you will need this to generate your Remita receipt. vi Payers Phone: fill as you wish. Complete the captcha and proceed to payment. You can choose to pay with your card/bank's internet banking or take the generated RRR code and pay at any bank branch. Please save the RRR code. If you pay with your card/bank's Internet banking, check your email for your remita receipt (not the same as your bank receipt... the remita receipt is generated and sent by Remita to your email) . In case you do not get the receipt in your email, go back to www.remita.net and click on Resend Receipt or Invoice, enter your RRR code and you should get the receipt in your mailbox. You can skip the entire steps above by going to any bank branch and make the payment via Remita. Take one copy of your Remita payment receipt, three copies of your certificate/statement of result and three copies of completed Academic Records Request form from Wes. If you are in Lagos, visit NECO office at 20(?), Coker Road, Ilupeju. They will issue you a neco receipt of 1k, you then complete a form and submit with the other documents. That's pretty much it. I was told the forms will be sent to Neco head office in Minna for processing... this could take between 2 to 3 weeks to get to WES. |
xwhyz:Thanks for the response. Do I have to mention in my ds 160 form that she will accompany me considering that we aren't married? Just to mention, whoever gets approved will go for the trip nonetheless. |
LecturerIFE:Please advise. |
Hello guys, please advise. I initially booked a group appointment to appear at the embassy with my fiancee. However, on a second thought, I cancelled the appointment because I felt it may be difficult proving our relationship to the VO which could result to a visa denial. To my question, can we schedule an individual appointment without the cancelled appointment counting against us? I feel we are better assessed on individual merits |
Hey guys, for those that have applied, how did you answer the question "not older than 30 years old (as at December 2017)"? Being a negative question, the right answer will be a "no"... if one is not older than 30 years by Dec 2017, correct ![]() |
olu101:Thanks. I guess she will stick to what she has submitted... she does not have the luxury of time to reschedule her interview. |
LecturerIFE:Help please ![]() |
Hello guys, good work you are doing here. I need some clarifications for my girlfriend as she plans going for a vacation sometime in December. Is it possible for her to change her travel plan after submitting the DS-160 form online? Note that she has used the same application code to book an appointment. Specifically, she wants to change where she will stay during her visit.... and I have read that it's not possible to edit travel plan. She had initially put a hotel address as her place of stay but she wants to change it to her relative's (not immediate but a 'distant' one) address, whom she mentioned as her contact person. If for some reason the travel plan cannot be changed, does she need to go with a hotel reservation to the interview? Thanks |
