Beautyaddy:Thanks Don't mind me. Was just being overzealous . Its not even possible to change it till I get my greencard. The positive however is that I was able to get a job with that SS card and work permit. The journey continues ![]() |
I just got my work permit and travel authorization after 4 months of waiting! Well, I give praise to God that I've finally gotten it. The next step is to go back to the Social Adminstration guys and change my Social Security Card. The next step is to start work ![]() |
kunlelikeme:Have you visited the US Embassy website? Here is the link: https://de.usembassy.gov/visas/immigrant-visas/fiancee-visa/ They also provided a means of contacting them and it's not via email. So perhaps you were contacting the wrong department. Go through the link I provided thoroughly. It should guide you accordingly. |
gladeria:No. The only payment is done at gtbank to pay for K1 Visa interview. 2. My fiancé filed for me and my daughter, so do I need to schedule two interviews (mine and hers) since I will be filling two DS160 forms and paying two visa fees @gtb.You can schedule her interview as an appendage to yours. You don't need to create any new ustraveldocs account for your daughter. Your account is what you'll use to schedule both yours and your daughter's interview. 3.this question of' what do you do for a living 'kinda worries me cause I just finished my service last month no job yet (fiancé, my parents and my savings is still sustaining me) so I don't exactly know how to answer such.Just tell them the truth. You are not currently working. Not a problem. |
Sukey:NVC only has the info USCIS gives them. But since NVC has sent your case to the Embassy, there's no need to give them any further info. The NVC will send you and your fiance an email. Print out the letter as you will need it for your medicals. I don't recommend you make any payments now until your case is READY for interview at the embassy. |
kunlelikeme:There are two options. Option 1, go ahead and schedule your interview. Then go for your medicals and get ready for your interview. Its a bit risky because the Embassy hasn't given you a go-ahead. But many people have taken this risk and it worked for them. The ceac website says your case is ready for interview so you should be good. Option 2, wait for the go-ahead from the Embassy. If you've not gotten a response, do a follow up mail. Let them know that the caec website says your case is ready for interview. Then you can go-ahead and schedule your interview once you get the packet 3 document from them (that's a goahead confirmation) What's your approval expiration date? It should guide you on the urgency of your case and thus can guide you on the kind of risk you should take. In conclusion, I don't know much about the German Embassy and their procedures (the Packet 3 has the procedures). However I advice you check out this link for more guidance. For more guidance |
kunlelikeme:When is your expiration date? The Packet 3 is sent by the german embassy. Did you send them (the embassy) an email to confirm receipt of your casefile and to request for the Packet 3? If you did, then they will respond. It takes 1 week for Lagos Embassy to respond. I don't know how long it takes for the German Embassy. |
abisolaarshow:Was it sent along with the K3 packet via email? When was it sent? The document seem old. Well there's no need for that document. As long as the hospital is the approved hospital, you are fine. |
mekusa10:Yeah choice of words. Those guys take choice of words seriously. This is because Those documents are legal documents and could be tendered in Court. The Affidavit of Support document is a very powerful document for the US government as it puts full responsibility of the immigrant on the person bringing him or her in. It removes liability from the government and puts it squarely on that US citizen. |
Beautyaddy:Yeah I might be wrong. But I know the Embassy might not tell you their suspicion until they've gotten an incontrovertible evidence to proof their case. I think they are suspecting fraud but don't have full evidence. The reason I'm saying this is because what his fiancee typed on the AOS is suggestive of fraud. The problem is not that her family members are also supporting (afterall, they can always support as cosponsors). The problem is that she's saying she will only support him with $150 until he's able to fend for himself. That's wrong. That means she doesnt want to be fully liable to him. There's not supposed to be any condition attached to an AOS at all. If you truly love each other then be ready be 100% responsible to each other financially and dont limit your liability to $150 per week. Saying that you will support him with a stipulated amount or saying you will support him till he gets his greencard is suggestive of fraud to me. These are my thoughts anyway. I could be wrong. |
@DicksonOgah, I think the Embassy don't believe you guys really love each other. I also think they feel your application is fraud. So I advice you do an introspection to know if you guys really love each other. If the answer is yes, then be ready to fight till the end. Resend the i134 and request an extension of your expiry date immediately. If the answer is no, I advice you come clean and end the application process so that you'll not be in their bad record....for future purposes. |
Sukey:No problem. Once your perition has been approved, you are to provide your updated info (passport no, email address, date of birth, place of residence, etc) together with yiur fiance's to NVC. Also you'll provide same to the Embassy at the appropriate time. The new passport number is also what you'll use while filing your DS160 and while scheduling for interview date. |
@Attraction, it might take a while before you get an interview date. So it depends on when likely you think the South Africa Embassy will give you your passport (with the visa). If it'll be done by October (or even November) then I'd say no problem as interview dates for October is almost filled up (if not filled up already) so the passport is of no use to you till after October (or November). So my advice is this. Don't worry about the passport. Just track your K1 casefile with the US Embassy to be sure its with them and that its ready to be scheduled for interview (it may take up to a month before NVC sends your casefile to the Embassy). Then send an email to the Embassy requesting confirmation and a go-ahead to schedule an interview (it may take a week to get the go-ahead from the Embassy). Once you get the go-ahead from the Embassy, make necessary payments at gtbank (you can use photocopy of your passport at the bank), fill the DS160 form and then check for interview dates. By then I'm guessing October dates will be filled up and only November and December (or even January) dates will be available. Then pick the available date (don't worry if you couldnt pick a date before the December expiry date, the most important thing is that you did the scheduling before the expiry date). Then walk in to the approved clinic for your medicals (for Lagos this should be done at least 2 weeks before your interview date, for Abuja it can be one week although walk-ins are not allowed and an appointment has to be scheduled with them). However note that you will need your passport for the medicals. So if you think you will not be able get back your passport 2 weeks before the interview date, then you can initiate the move to retrieve it. |
seyimuyide:Just tell them the truth. There's nothing wrong with meeting your fiance on Facebook. And your being denied visiting visa won't affect your k3 visa application. |
MRoss:I don't know the requirements in South Africa. I'm guessing you'll get your marriage certificate since you are a legal resident. |
kunlelikeme:I don't know the timeline for medical interviews over there in Germany. In Lagos Nigeria, its advisable to schedule an interview date before going for medicals. The interview date is usually scheduled such that it is at least 2 weeks after the medicals. This is because it takes a minimum of 2 weeks for the medical results to be out. I however learnt it takes lesser days for Abuja. So for Germany, it might be shorter or longer. Concerning when to schedule a date, its always best to wait to get the go ahead from the embassy. You've sent them a mail, you'll get a response in a weeks time. Some people however go ahead and schedule without getting the go ahead, this works most of the time but it has its risk. This is because there are few occasions where the embassy have some issues with the casefile and sends it back to NVC for correction. |
abisolaarshow:Screenshot and then print. You can place several screenshots on one page while printing. You may also choose to print as colored or black/white. https://www.nairaland.com/4800968/usa-fiancee-k1-visa-thread/53#81598994 |
kunlelikeme:They won't send you a physical letter. They will send the Packet 3 to your email instead. Send them an email to confirm that they've received your casefile, they should respond within one week. |
MRoss:You guys can get married in South Africa. After marriage, your wife should petition for CR1 visa when she gets back to the US. |
Glorioussugar:You should do it in the Local Government close to where you reside here in Lagos. |
seyimuyide:No cause for alarm. It will most likely be converted to CR1. What will happen is that your CR1 application (i130 form) will be adjudicated before the K1 application (i129f) and will be sent to NVC for processing. Once that is done, the K1 application becomes null and void and you will be issued a CR1 Visa. If K3 were possible, what would have happened would be that they will adjudicate your K1 application (since it's suppposed to take shorter time) and you will be issued your K1 Visa which you use to fly over to the US while the CR1 application is still being adjudicated. You then get your greencard the moment your CR1 apllication is approved. If K3 were possible, its gives you the K1 advantage of getting over to the US on time and the CR1 advantage of getting your greencard on time. |
Glorioussugar:You can get it from your local government or from Ikoyi Registry. You can also swear an affidavit with a High Court. I did mine in the Local Government. Went there myself to make sure I wasn't given a fake. Paid 10,000 naira. Learnt doing it at the Ikoyi Marriage Registry is much more expensive (around 25,000 naira or thereabout). But just as Select500 said, its not compulsory to get it for the Embassy interview as they may not ask for it. I got my bacherlood certificate at the very early stage and submitted a copy along with the i129F document. I took the original with me to the interview but it wasn't asked for at all during the interview. However if you have time on your hands then you can go get it (might take up to 2 weeks for it to be ready). |
kunlelikeme:There is a ceac website where you can track your casefile. I had posted it here, I can't remember the website but you can check my previous posts for it. Once it says READY then you are ready to go. You'll also have to send an email to the Embassy. You can schedule your interview once you get the Packet 3 from the Embassy. |
@Paccus and @Molybdenum0012, they usually don't recognise our degrees. But I dont recommend starting afresh. You can do a masters or doctoral degree that builds on the degree you have. You'll need to evaluate your degree using WES or ECE. Those organizations help to convert your degree to a US equivalent so that you can use the conversion to either search for a job or do a master's or doctorate degree. |
saintrise:In addition to what select500 said, you'll need to fill a new form (i864) for your affidavit of support. However you will use the same documents you used to fill the form i134. You may also need to provide some additional documents whem filling the form i864 if there has been some changes in your fiancee revenue/tax situation (eg if your fiancee has a new job or if she has been promoted in her new job or if she has filed new tax with the IRS, etc.) |
Sukey:By email. |
sharpman1:Yes bro. I'm in Dallas. |
nextlevel2222:It means you are applying for workpermit while waiting for your greencard (or something like that). I advice you read the i765 instruction document. It has all the info you need. Pay close attention to page 10 of the 27-paged document. If you dont have the document, you can download it here: https://www.uscis.gov/system/files_force/files/form/i-765instr.pdf?download=1 |
emmybernard:Joint Bank Account is not a compulsory requirement but it helps in proving one's case that the marriage is genuine. |
Drenimarcus:lol...yes o. Texas will be the headquarters. |
nextlevel2222:You type C in the first box, 9 in the second and leave the third blank. |
. Its not even possible to change it till I get my greencard.
