Glorioussugar:You haven't submitted Your DS160? I thought you have. If you haven't then I'm really not happy that you are very slow and not serious with this process. Regarding your question, click yes and provide the websites/social media you are in along with your handle there. Eg Facebook, LinkedIn, Nairaland, Twitter etc. 1 Like |

Glorioussugar:Haven't you picked a date yet? Why are you delaying? You are really putting yourself at unnecessary risk if you haven't picked the available date. But if you have picked a date, don't worry your case petition will be extended. Just send them an email as I had advised. Tell them you scheduled a date but the date is beyond the petition expiration date and thus you are seeking an extension. Once you do that, they will respond in a weeks time. 1 Like |

sharpman1:Again, just as I told Sukey, you don't know the details of the person's case. Perhaps the validity of the petition expired even before he was able to schedule a date. When I sent a mail to the embassy requesting I didn't get the response "extension is at the discretion of the CO". I was just told that I should endeavor to schedule a date before the petition expires. They said it didn't matter if the date I was able to get is beyond the petition's expiration date. My advice for new K1 visa applicants:Nobody gets penalized if the reason he or she missed the expiration date is because the Embassy failed to send the Packet 3 on time. But I agree with your recommendation if the person wants to be quicker with the whole K1 interview Process. Now for those having to pick dates outside the validity period, you don't have any choice but to pick the next available earliest date so pick your date ASAP......but send an email to the embassy asking for an extension explaining the difficulty in getting a date. Make sure you have the email and any response printed and taken with you to the interview just in case. By God's grace the petition will be automatically extended by six months which is the usual practice.Yeah it will be automatically extended IF the person had already picked an interview date. I can't say for other scenarios. 1 Like |

Sukey:You don't know the detail of his case. Perhaps his was not K1. Or Perhaps USCIS/NVC/US Embassy made a mistake on his case thus are teying to help resolve the consequence of the mistake they created. Perhaps. But I don't know. What I know is that for K1 Visa, you are the one to schedule the interview date, not the Embassy. And as long as you scheduled your date before the Petition expires, you are fine. 1 Like |

Study4life:It doesn't matter. Just pick the earliest available date. If you delay you might not see those dates again. I dont knw if you understood the question? How can one pick a date when his petition has expired before the available dates on the calendarI understood you perfectly. Don't worry that there's no available date before the expiry date. Just go ahead and pick the earliest date available. If you delay, you'll end up not picking any date and the petition will expire on you. 1 Like |

Glorioussugar:I'm glad you finally got it. So now you don't have to worry about your petition expiration date, it should automatically be extended. I will however advice that you send an email to the Embassy to inform them that you've scheduled a date and also request that they extend your expiry date so that you can go for your interview. This is just to prevent any long story. Special thanks to Dutchleez. 1 Like |

mrversatile:The link Drenimarcus provided is perfect. Follow it judiciously. You can ask specific questions if you are having any issues. I will also advice that you go and get the NPC Birth Certificate/Attestation which you will submit along with any other Birth Certidicate that you have. This is because there is now a pattern of people getting RFIE because of Birth Certificate. Secondly, if you completed the required vaccination, you don't need to do any medical examination again in the States. You don't even need to fill the form I-693. All you need to do is photocopy the form DS-3025 given to you by the hospital where you did your medical checkup here in Nigeria and attach with the AOS application. 1 Like |

gladeria:You need to pay another 98,050 for your Child. And what you are paying for is K Visa and not K1 or K2 or K3 or K4. The Banks don't differentiate the kind of K Visa. The same applies if you are applying for Spousal Visa (IR or CR), you and your Child will each pay 98,050. So much money right? Yeah I know, it's expensive. |

Treasureprince1:No need to go with it. I did it during front loading at the petition stage. But since you have been approved by USCIS, and there are no concerns on your side on whether the Embassy might doubt you, then you don't need the certificate. The reason he needs it is because he and his fiance did Traditional Introduction which might be confusing to the Embassy sometimes. 1 Like |

Sukey:Just as I said here on this thread you can do it with the Local Government where you live or with Ikoyi Marriage Registry. I did mine with my local government and it cost me around 15 to 20k. They did everything for me including the Court Affidavit. Ikoyi Registry is more expensive, I'm told. But you can choose to do it there if you want. |

Gudnexvincent:The straight answer to your question will be no. However X-Ray is mandatory for all applicants thus if you are concerned about the rays affecting your baby then you might have to wait till after delivery before you can do the X-Ray and continue with your application process. However I'm told that you get to wear a shield to protect the baby from any rays during the X-Ray procedure. The choice is up to you. |

hammed71:This letter did not give an acceptable reason why you were given attestation leter instead of the actual birth certificate. I just read the Decree No 69 of December 1992 and there is no place where I saw that someone cannot register his or her birth if he or she is 18 years old. In fact there is a provision for late registration of Birth in the Act. I will provide it below: Late registration of birth (1) A person applying for the late registration of the birth of a child under section 10 (2) of the Act shall accompany the application with a sworn affidavit stating‐ (a) the name of the child; (b) the date and place of birth of the child; (c) the name of the mother of the child; (d) the name of the father of the child; (e) the reason for not registering the birth within the time specified for registration; (f) such other information as may be required by the Commission So I wonder why they say your case falls beyond the coverage of the Act. I've heard of people who were even born before 1992 and yet got the NPC Birth Certificate so I wonder why yours will be different. Your parents (or uncle or guardian) can always swear an affidavit for you if that's the issue. My advice: go back there and plead your case...you might have to part with some money (which is unfortunate) or you go to your Local Government Office and request for the NPC Birth Certificate there. I honestly don't think the USCIS guys will agree that your case does not merit a Birth Certificate. cc: Capello1 |

Treasureprince1:Sorry I intended replying this but forgot. Front loading is simply submitting load of documents that you believe would prove your case whether it was requested for or not. This is done while your fiance is submitting the i129F document to USCIS. During my time, what we did was to submit any document we feel will validate the information we provided on the i129F form. This include things like me and my wife's employment documents, me and my wife's bank statement, my wife's tax documents, receipts of things I bought for her, visa stamps for the several countries I've been to along with boarding passes, pictures of us together, chats, emails, and so on. My woman said the document was so heavy...lol. Note however that the documents has to be properly arranged so that it will be easy for the USCIS guys to read through else it could be a disaster. Note also that you have to endeavor not to miss out the critical documents while front loading. The critical documents are listed out in the USCIS website. 3 Likes |

capello1:You sure it's valid? He said he was born in 1994 so there's no excuse why NPC will not give him Birth Certificate instead of Attestation. Are you sure USCIS will accept NPC Attestation in lieu of NPC Birth Certificate for someone born after 1992? |

DankbaresHerz:Lol @nohomo. It's i-134 and not i-864. i-864 is filled in Family Based Immigration Petition (which yours is not) and also in Adjustment of Status Application. i-134 is filled in K1 Visa Application Process. Those USCIS guys are not usually very helpful on the phone. Especially at this RFE stage of your application. 2 Likes |
