Enasdan:I don't have any Spousal Visa experience as I did Fiance Visa. For my views on the two visas, you can go through this thread. Also click on this link: https://www.nairaland.com/4800968/usa-fiancee-k1-visa-thread/14#75381630 |
Enasdan:Its your choice to make. Spousal Visa has it's advantage. It's cheaper and you'll get your greencard immediately you arrive in America. The only downside is that it takes a little longer to get the visa. |
Simcha:No need for engagement ceremony. Even if you do, don't send those pictures when your fiancee is filing the petition. No court wedding. No traditional wedding. Just take pictures with your fiance. Also take pictures with her family members. She should also take pictures with your family. Its important that she keeps all her travel documents (flight ticket, boarding passes, immigration stamp, i94, visa, International Passport, etc) as it will be among the documents she will submit along with the pictures in her petition as proof that you guys met within the last 2 years. As regards your last question, bro just be yourself. Date her the same way you'll date a Nigerian babe. Happy love life bro. |
kunlelikeme:Yes the letter they sent after two weeks of submitting the application is the NOA1. Its also a very important document. Keep it safe. |
kunlelikeme:This confirms that you've received NOA1. What you are waiting for is NOA2. I don't think there's any need to call. The money has been cashed. It takes 3 to 6 months to get NOA2. You are still on track, you'll get the approval soon. Just remain prayerful. God is in control. |
kunlelikeme:You mean you didn't even get NOA1? If you didn't get NOA1 then your fiance needs to be sure the document was received by USCIS. It can be done if the submission was done with USPS. Another way of confirming is if the money was cashed by USCIS. So if you've confirmed USCIS received the application then perhaps the problem is from your fiance's postal address. That need to be fixed. But if USCIS has not received the application then perhaps you guys might have to refile. Before taking any major decision (fixing postal address or refilling), its advisable to call them just as Select500 advised. If you got the NOA1 then no cause for alarm. You'll get the update soon. Just keep following up using your case number. |
saintrise:No you don't need yellow fever card. Its mostly travels to african and asian countries that require yellow fever card. However in case you still want to get it, you'll have to read this: The Federal airport Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has released guidelines to get the yellow fever card in 5 days. The yellow fever card is one of the important document that every traveler must have in his/her procession before traveling. These are the easy steps. The Port Health Services Office in Lagos is adjacent the Airport Toll Gate. |
Lessonnn: seyimuyide:I think K3 is no longer possible. It was in the past that K3 was an option due to the very lengthy time it used to take to process spousal (CR1/IR1) visa...it used to take up to 1 - 2 years then. But now, CR1/IR1 approval is relatively faster thus its no longer possible to get K3 approval. Below is a post by a visa officer concerning K3 visa in 2017: VisaOfficer:https://www.nairaland.com/2669622/u.s-immigration-questions-ask-u.s/86#63277661 Here is also her post in 2015. She's was saying that most of the time, your IR1/CR1 application will be approved before the K3 so that means the money you paid for the i129F form will go to waste: VisaOfficer:https://www.nairaland.com/1792591/u.s-immigration-questions-ask-u.s/85#29714816 |
saintrise:Maybe it's network on your end. I've been receiving emails throughout today. |
JWTheocracy1:You can send me a PM. |
@donasvenss, what 123JohnF posted is 100% correct and applies to both K1 (Fiance) Visa and CR1 (Spousal) Visa. You can decide to get wedded in South Africa (or anywhere else) and then go for your CR1 Visa interview in Nigeria OR you wait till you are done with the K1 Visa interview in Nigeria and then get married in US. The choice is for you guys to make. The pros and cons of both K1 and CR1 visa have been discussed extensively on this thread. You may wish to look it up. Regards |
Sukey:You'll have to go to your gmail account, not nairaland account. You'll see my response in your gmail account. |
@Sukey, I had responded to your PM. Check your email that starts with ola...key@gmail.com |
DAramis:This is one very reliable method of getting the police report. The form can even be downloaded online. The link I was talking about is https://www.wikiprocedure.com/index.php/Nigeria_-_Obtain_police_clearance_certificate There is a website called getway.ng that helps with it as well. I dont know how genuine they are But they do look genuine. If the person concerned is based abroad and will go for his or her interview abroad then its far better and cheaper to do the report online instead of spending money traveling to and fro Nigeria. But if the person's visa interview is in Nigeria, then it's better to get the police report when he or she gets back to Nigeria. It takes less than 4 hrs to get the report at Alagbon. cc: DankbaresHerz, ifunanayamaka |
ifunanyamaka:I think you can get your police report even if you're not in Nigeria. I will look for the link and post here. cc: DankbaresHerz |
Drenimarcus:Bro, I'm still having issues hearing them O...lol. But we'll cope with time I'm told. Happy Independence. |
Sukey:True. There's no official format from USCIS. There are several format online that can guide you. There are notary publics in Nigeria. Just Google and you will see them. Its true they dont have to be US Citizens but I recommend you include one or two as their affidavit will have more weight than those from Nigeria. They can be the parents or siblings of your fiancee, they need not be friends or a reputable person. But if you don't have any in the States then fine. You're still good. Also I think 6 is a lot. 2 or 3 should suffice unless they specifically requested for 6. You can send me a PM if you have any personal mails to send me. |
Drenimarcus:Yeah it's the last step of the K1 but it's just the beginning of the journey....still a lot of hurdles to cross (social security, marriage, drivers license, health insurance, work permit, green card, naturalization). But I'm not trying to scare anyone. We'll all make it in Jesus Name. |
Sukey:You're good then. Payment of brideprice is not allowed for K1 visa. Some Consular Offices during Visa interviews tend to probe further when they notice traditional occasions because they suspect that some form of traditional wedding ceremony took place. Ive heard of cases where the visa was delayed solely because of this. However I don't know about the USCIS guys who are adjudicating the i129F petition, they might probably not have any issues with it. and again,we were oblivious as to what kind of pictures that the uscis usually needs as proof of contact so all the pictures we took were selfies and that’s what we were able to send,I guess they weren’t enough that’s why they’re asking for more evidence,we even sent picture of when I went to their family house for introduction but I guess that wasn’t enough.Selfies are fine. I only submitted selfie photos during my time and it sufficed. Perhaps they misplaced yours. You can resend the pictures and then add some more that were taken prior to the petition. If you don't have any then send pictures taken after the petition. Can we get up to 6 people to write the letter for us and do they have to go to the court to get the affidavitI don't think they will have to go to court. There's a USCIS document they can fill and then sign and get it notarized. That should suffice. Those 6 people have to be US citizens I think. and since we don’t have any more pictures from last year(we sent everything) what do you think we should do.As I said earlier, resend all you sent and explain each photo. You may also wish to send other photos taken after the petition but that doesn't count because you are supposed to provide evidence of you guys meeting before the petition and not after. If you ask me, I'd say providing any other form of evidence of you guys meeting before the petition will be more useful. It need not be photos, even a letter detailing where you guys met which is signed by you and your fiance along with the witnesses can help. Other additionals include things like email or WhatsApp chats before the petition was filed that talked about where you guys met. Also you can include a printout of Google Map (the app is able to confirm if you've been to a place or not). The list is endless. And who writes letters these days again?we have never written letters to each other and they’re asking for letters.she said we started dating in 2017 but it was 2018( mistake on her side) but she stated that she came home 2018 July so we literally have no evidence from 2017 cos we didn’t start dating till 2018.what should we doLetters can be electronic. I think emails, WhatsApp Chats, SMS, facebook/Instagram/Twitter DMs, etc can suffice. |
Drenimarcus:This is serious. I hear they can even see deleted messages. Trump is not joking. This is why its best to always say the truth at all times. There's nothing wrong with having US contacts. I told them I did and I wasn't denied visa. Theres also nothing wrong with working in the US with the K1 as long as you get married to your fiancee on entry and get a work permit or greencard. So the guy just shot himself on the foot by lying. It's well. |
Sukey:No need to send in those because it won't prove your fiance's eligibility to petition. They want to be sure you guys met at least once within 2 years of filing the petition. What happens after filing the petition is irrelevant for now. However it can be relevant during the Embassy Interview. If I may ask, was bride price paid during the traditional engagement? |
@Sukey, I recommend you resend the documents you had sent before. For the hotel receipt, you can try calling them to see if they can send you a copy. For flight boarding pass, any evidence that confirmed you actually did travel should suffice (eg entry stamp by CBP and/or Nigeria Immigration officials). If the airline sent you an email thanking you for the flight, you can also print those. You cab also include extra documents that will prove your case even if they didn't request for it. See my earlier post on the recommendations I gave. Finally you'll need to include a Cover Letter that will summarise and explain all the documents you are attaching. |
bojar:What it means is that they are done with the verification. So they should have an answer for you by now. I'll recommend you print this out and show them when you go visiting so they don't tell you to come back again. |
bojar:Oh ok. I guess its the Systematic Alien Verification for Entitlements (SAVE) program casecheck. I recommend you track it by visiting this site: https://save.uscis.gov/CaseCheck/ If I may ask, is there any discrepancies in your i94 printout compared to your international passport? Information such as your full names, date of birth should match else there could be delays. Concerning your AOS application. I recommend you call because if you don't, you might miss the biometrics appointment. Biometrics appointment is usually done a month after the first receipt notice (NOA1). When you call you will be speaking with a Tier 1 officer, please insist to speak to a Tier 2 officer as I heard the Tier 1 guys have little or no information. |
@Bojar are you sure it's not a problem with your mailbox? What did the SSA guys say when you revisted them? |
Drenimarcus:Welcome to the United States man. You came in right on time for the Independence Day celebration. |
@Dutchleez Perhaps they misplaced it. I recommend you resend it along with the other documents requested. I also advice that you include a cover letter that will summarise all the documents you are providing. In addition to documents requested, I'll advice you include any other additional documents that will prove your case. For instance you can include the following: 1. Printout of Email chats or WhatsApp Chats that has your conversations about the places you guys met in person. 2. Flight tickets, boarding passes, bus tickets, Google map printout showing where you were. 3. Receipt of purchases made when you guys were together. 4. Bank Account statements 5. Pictures of you and your fiancee with her family and or friends 6. etc It's important you provide ID number for each of those documents and make some comments explaining each documents on the cover letter. The essense is to make the work of the adjudicating officer easier. I wish you the very best bro. |
@marvolexi I recommend you click this link: https://www.nairaland.com/5116939/usa-spousal-visa-process-k3 You can ask questions on that thread too. This thread is for K1 (Fiance Visa). |
pauljohnken:I've replied your PM. Check your gmail. |
saintrise:No its not. You'll also need the Court Affidavit as well. During my interview I forgot my original Birth Certificate but luckily I had my Attestation Letter and Court Affidavit and both sufficed. |
mrversatile:Yes. |
sharpman1:Bros these guys dey vex O. @Bledan, this is new to me. But my advice is that you guys write a letter to the USCIS guys stating your plans. It is not a must that you guys have a detailed plan. Just a simple plan of when and where the wedding will take place and the likely budget for the wedding. What kind of wedding and who will be invited. The letter should be signed by you both. If there were any chats you guy had concerning the wedding, you can screenshot that and print, if not I think you guys will be fine with the letter. I wish you the very best. |
