DankbaresHerz: Seriously, i am surprised and confused at same time, my fiancée doesn’t make up the 125% in her current job.. she was suggesting her mom writes a letter of sponsorship and notarized it. Do you think that will serve as evidence of sponsorship’ since it’s more like an oat that she will be our sponsor ? Or which form will she fill as sponsor
I really don't know if a notarized letter can serve as evidence of financial support. But I know the form i134 (Affidavit of Support) is a document that confirms financial support. Her mum can fill the form i134 and give to her to submit. In addition to the filled form i134, she can also attach a cover letter explaining that her mum will be your cosponsor. That's my advice.
sharpman1: Yes....it is surprising that they want evidence of financial support before the interview......especially that one can use a joint sponsor in case the petitioner can't meet the poverty guidelines.
I remember on the K1 application form, the petitioner was required to put details of current and past work history......are they using that to estimate if the petitioner falls below the poverty line? I think they are focusing more on this public charge stuff.
Yeah I think it has to do with this Public Charge. Although I had thought the courts had kept it on hold for now.
DankbaresHerz: I am at Noa1, waiting for to be approved but Further evidence was requested which was “evidence of financial support “
Its surprising they are requesting for evidence of financial support now. I thought they usually request for such during the interview stage.
Well since they asked, I think your fiance can fill the form i134 and attach relevant documents (like bank statement, pay stubs, tax returns, employmwnt letter, etc) along with it. If she doesnt make up to 125% if the poverty level then she'll also need a cosponsor.
Expenses you guys have made on each other can help too
DankbaresHerz: Hello guys, awesome job in keeping the page alive, A quick one, We got a RFE requesting for further evidence, please, does anyone understand what they mean by “evidence of financial support”? I am confused as to how who should provide the financial support and will letter to this effect suffice or they need bank statements? @legictBachelor and other gurus, your input is highly welcomed. Thanks
Sukey: Yes I think so,but I think it’s like that for me cos I always use my phone to check the cgi page, the last time I used a computer,It was there on the lower left part of the dashboard.
Sukey: Yes it is,click on the reschedule appointment Link and it’ll bring out the calendar, but you cannot check more than 3 times in 24 hours as well,it’s how I’ve been tracking the dates to see if I can get an earlier one, And Yes,I have a date for November but I just want an earlier date.
Oh ok get it now. You won't see dates on the dashboard until you click on the reschedule appointment link. Right? However for those who are yet to schedule, they get to see the first available date on the dashboard (lower left part of the dashboard) without the need to click on the schedule appointment link.
The advantage is that they don't have any limit on the number of times they can view the dashboard unlike in your case where you have a limit of 3 times in 24 hours.
Sukey: You don’t have to cancel your date and wait for a date to pop up before you reschedule, there’s the cancel option and there’s the reschedule option on your portal
Last I checked which was around 2 today, the 23rd of dec is the only available day and that’s if it’s not picked before Friday.
I have a question. Is it possible to see available dates after already scheduling an interview date?
Also did you already have an interview date when you checked and saw 23rd of December?
No. I don't think you can use your phone. Its only done on the computer. Your computer needs to be always on and connected to the internet. Also your ustraveldocs portal page should not be closed.
Sukey: I don’t stay in Lagos, can I still get it done anywhere or it’s just lagos?
If you want to do it with a Local Government, I think it makes sense to do it in the local government close to where you reside. This is because they are in a better position to attest that you are single since you reside close to them. However if you want to do it with a marriage registry, then I'll recommend the Ikoyi Registry as they have good relationship with the embassy thus they can easily be contacted by the embassy to verify your document.
Glorioussugar: Please what’s that app again? That I can also use to check?
LegitBachelor: In addition to what I posted earlier, there's also another way in which you can monitor your portal homepage without having to go to the appointment page and thus exceeding the maximum number of allowed visits.
It's called check4change and it's recommended to use the app with Mozilla Firefox.
Sukey: Please who in the house knows where I can get the original bachelorhood certificate,@legitbachelor,I recollect that you talked about it sometime but I’m not to sure when so can you please send me the link to when you talked about it.
I did mine in the Local Government office close to where I lived. I also learnt it can be done at the Ikoyi Marriage Registry.
It costs around 15 to 20K, I think, to get It done at the Local Government Office. I was told it could get close to 40K at the Ikoyi Marriage Registry.
Justice96: Boss LegitBachelor I did not engage my woman when she visited me. is it compulsory that I engage her before i file for K1 visa? Will it reduce my chance of getting a visa
Sukey: @legitbachelor,what do you think, please give me advice
Just like Sharpman1 said, be truthful and be confident. As long as you are saying the truth you have nothing to fear.
The evidence that proves you guys are not married can help. You can get written letter from your parents and your woman's parents that no bride price was paid. You can also get the bacherlorhood certificate, if you can. All these is just to prove your case.
Attraction: I have not ooo and it worries me. I tracked it and it's still with them. And it's November 14th I filled will be going on vacation. Let me just patiently wait. What do you think?
Yes you can wait. Your k1 visa interview date might not even be possible this year anyways.
However I advice you should be proactive with the us embassy guys concerning your casefile. Keep tracking it on the website I had provided earlier. Once it says your casefile is READY, you can do an email to the us embassy (LagosIV@state.gov) requesting your Packet. Once you get the go ahead from them (hopefully you'll get the go ahead before your casefile expiry date), you can then schedule the earliest available date which most probably will be around January or February.
Thanks so much @anjiee for the Transcript. Can you tell us how you resolved the change of passport number issue? Did you fill a new DS160 or did you email ustraveldocs or did you just go for the interview with both passports?
Justice96: Thank you baba Yes our love is real o she's 42 I'm 36 she came to visit me in Senegal some months ago this year and we spent 2 weeks together, the plan was she'll return for a second visit for marriage but now because of financial strains she's changing her mind to file for Fiance visa.....she's planning to see her lawyer so he can advise her what's best for us. The truth is most of my guys i knew here that travelled all use the spousal route
Both Spousal and Fiance route are expensive. In fact, the Fiance route is slightly more expensive when you add all the fees that will be paid down the road.
Also note that your woman must earn a salary above 125% of the Federal Poverty Guideline for her to be able to petition for you, whether it's Fiance or Spousal.
Attraction: Pls got a mail from NVC Oct 15th with case number that our case has been forwarded to Lagos embassy . Pls what do I do? The case expires in December 24th. Should I pay for visa fees and try getting appointment in December before it expires?
Legitbachelor: Just track your K1 casefile with the US Embassy to be sure its with them and that its ready to be scheduled for interview (it may take up to a month before NVC sends your casefile to the Embassy). Then send an email to the Embassy requesting confirmation and a go-ahead to schedule an interview (it may take a week to get the go-ahead from the Embassy). Once you get the go-ahead from the Embassy, make necessary payments at gtbank (you can use photocopy of your passport at the bank), fill the DS160 form and then check for interview dates.
So basically, the embassy advices you track your casefile and only make payments and schedule your visa interview once you get the go ahead from the embassy. However some people do go ahead and schedule an appointment even before getting the go ahead. Thats a risk to take but many people take the risk (the worse that could happen will be to loose the visa fee, I think) but I wouldn't take such risk.
PS: Have you gotten your passport back from the SA guys?
Justice96: Before trump became president the rate of fiance K1 visa was 90% now it has drop to 66% since trump has been in the office. Please o with the way trump is tightening immigration which route is advisable for a Nigerian to take and be 90% present sure you'll get a visa FIANCE K1 VISA or SPOUSE VISA?
Don't worry about Trump. As long as your love is real, nothing else matters.
The difference between Fiancee and Spouse visa is that Fiance will make you be with your wife within a shorter timeframe while Spouse visa will make you get your greencard within a shorter timeframe. So you guys should decide what's best for both of you.
Sukey: @glorioussugar Pick a date when your portal reopens and stick to it.However, contrary to what legitbachelor said, you don’t have to cancel your date and wait for a date to pop up before you reschedule, there’s the cancel option and there’s the reschedule option on your portal but considering the level of your paranoia now,you should stick to whatever date you get,and last I checked which was around 2 today, the 23rd of dec is the only available day and that’s if it’s not picked before Friday.
Yes that's true. Another thing I will like to add is that one can only reschedule or cancel twice. After the second reschedule, the option is no longer possible.
It's dangerous to reschedule if your expiry date is close. This is because it involves cancelling the date you have and looking for another date and you might not get another date immediately after you cancel.
Glorioussugar: Oh really? Thought it’s 3 months. Thanks a lot for the info
Note however that what this means is that if your interview is successful and you are granted the K1 visa, your visa will expire in March.
My advice: Pick an available date once your portal opens up. Don't tamper with the date by attempting to reschedule for an earlier date. Stick to the date. Prepare for the interview, and go with relevant documents. Then be ready to leave the country before March, get married within 90 days of entry into the US and adjust status immediately after marriage or before the i94 validity expires.
So that means your medical report will expire in March (medicals has a validity of 6 months). So don't worry about medicals. Just pick the available interview date asap once your portal open up and let us know when you do.
Glorioussugar: Ok. But if I’m able to get a date for November, do I still need to do medicals? I mean I’m going to book December date, but if a see a date in November and reschedule, do I still need to do medicals? My medicals expire in December
When was your medicals done? And what is the name of the hospital?
Glorioussugar: My medicals expire in December. That means I’ll have to do another medicals in December? I don’t even know what to think anymore. I don’t know why my case is like this . I’m having severe headache right now.
Don't worry about medicals for now. Just pick an available date once your portal opens up. After picking an available date, you can plan to schedule another medicals. Your medicals should be scheduled 2 - 3 weeks to your interview date.
Let us know when you've picked an interview date. We'll advice you on what to do next. Regards.
Sukey: @legitbachelor,what I mean is that she’s looking for an earlier date because her petition will soon expire that’s why she didn’t want to choose the December dates
It doesn't matter when the petition is expiring. She should just pick the available date.
After picking the date, she can then send a mail to the embassy seeking extension of her expiry date. They will grant her request and extend it because they will see it's not her fault that she chose a later date as it was the only available date at the time. I'm even told they automatically extend the expiry date in situations like this without even a need to send them a mail.
However if she decides to wait and not schedule any date, then her casefile will expire on the expiry date and she will have to start the i129 petition (or i130) all over again. That's not good.
Glorioussugar: Please why am I seeing this on my profile . I can’t open it. It’s been blocked. I’ve been here crying. Please can someone tell me what’s happening?
