RomanceRe: My Encounter With A Girl That Stopped Picking Calls. by Lescott7(m): 5:41pm On Oct 03, 2021
I experienced something like this in my last relationship. The girl only call me when she needs something from me or when she knows it's getting close to month end. I confronted her several times about that act, she said it's her own style that she doesn't call or chat people first. I had to end the relationship with her last month. I can't imagine someone I call a girlfriend calling me when she only needs money from me.
In all, I made a big mistake, I should just have just Bleep zoned when I discovered that act about her instead of seeing her as someone I can spend the rest of my life with.

Please stay in your current job, try enroll for ICAN if you have not started. As a chartered accountant plus your experience in that industry, you can easily move to another company.
CareerRe: Share Your Career Transition Experience by Lescott7(m): 6:54am On Jun 27, 2021
My first degree is in Business Education, served in a school and was retained. While serving, I started ICAN from foundation level in May 2019, got a job in an audit firm after few months of working as a full staff in the private school where I served.
I currently work with the audit firm with the hope of moving to one of the big four very soon .
I have just a course left to qualify as a chartered accountant.
I'm looking forward to adding data analytics and data science to the bag

The fact that you got a love letter doesn't mean you failed woefully. I am sure I wouldn't get less than 60% of the total marks but in a tough contest like this, one has to score 90% and above. I'm still gonna try again next time God willing and I remain hopeful on the experienced tax hire until they communicate to us.
If I don't get to enter as a trainee, I will get in as an experienced hire.

Thank you

Oboi, the experienced hire test was crazy.
If you are not working in a firm into international taxation, you can't answer those questions. I just wrote ICAN Advanced taxation exam this week and I can only relate with few questions in the test. The questions were beyond ICAN Adv.tax syllabus self.
CareerRe: I Am In A State Of Confusion. Help With Your Advice. by Lescott7(m): 11:43am On Mar 23, 2021
Teaching in private school is a waste of time and energy, I don't see any future in it. I have worked in one of the top private schools in Abuja and my experience wasn't nice. The school owner see teachers as slaves and people to be taken advantage of. I wouldn't advice anyone to take a private school teaching job and if you really want to be a teacher, get a government school.

Op, drop the private school teaching job as there is no future in it. The worst is that, you can't even save from your salary to start your own school later.

I was not able to do the test also. I installed the safe browser but was not able to do the test. I got stuck at the configuration stage.
Dragnet really bleeped up. We really need to report them to Deliotte.

I don't think the age is a factor though, people above 25 years got the mail.

For now I don't know the criteria they used in sending the mail and why they are putting some people on hold. Reason been that in March mails were sent to everyone that were successful telling them they have been successful to take the test and as soon as the economy gets better, we will get an update.

For now we just have to fold our hands and watch how things will all play out. I am just trying to give myself some hope that it won't end the way I am thinking because most cases when placed on hold, it is regret mails that normally follows.

As I said earlier, let me fold my hand and see how things will play out.

Also I finished 2018 and I am 25 years in case you wanna ask me that.
I think it's only people that chose Audit and Assurance line they are calling for now.

I think it means we weren’t shortlisted for the whole recruitment process, cos we should have gotten test details. And it probably means they could consider us later in the future for any other recruitment program that comes up.
I think it's those that applied for Audit and Assurance they are calling for now. It's like they are doing Audit first.

I just realised that the current ES of the NCDMB's tenure is to elapse by September. Then he'll either be reinstated or a new ES will be appointed. I really hope he plans on finishing the recruitment before that. Often times a change in management of an agency can delay and mess with on going recruitment for a long time. Does anyone have any inside info on when they plan on wrapping the process up and sending APL's. Also when the test will be.

I'm happy that there was an extension so other people had a chance to apply but I really wish it would move fast. I'm eager to know my fate and move on if I don't get it. Me I'm also still curious about their pay and if they give upfront and other allowances too that are usually present in agencies under the MPR.
Recruitment process is not something that you can predict, besides the test has not even taken place. Relax and focus on what you do presently. When we get to the interview stage, we can start doing those calculations.
CareerRe: Am An Internal Auditor Under I.T ...I Need Advice by Lescott7(m): 7:31am On Mar 21, 2020
As an internal auditor or external auditor, the first thing you do in situation like this is too seek clarification. If the officers in question can give a reasonable explanation, fine! If they can't, you report to the Audit committee of the board of directors or whoever you are answerable too. You don't have to cover anything, if you do and the external auditor discovers during the statutory audit, it won't go well.

CareerRe: Career Options: Should I Leave My Teaching Job To Be A Driver? by Lescott7(m): 11:07am On Nov 14, 2019
Globalistic:
Your write up is very touching. I understand how you feel at the moment.

Let me respond by sharing my experience with you and others here.

I was born and raised in Calabar. I had my Primary, Secondary and Tertiary education in Calabar, Cross River State. Very popular in my area but still eating from hand to mouth.

In 2014, I took a bold step and relocated to Port Harcourt and squatted with my sister for six months. My very first month in PH, I took a teaching job with a salary of #22000 and few weeks later I got another teaching offer with a salary of #35000. If you were in my shoes, you would've gladly embraced #35000 salary right? But I took it to God in prayer and never had the conviction to go for #35000 salary. When my employer heard the rumour of my proposed new job, she never wanted loosing me for a close rival because both schools were in same area so she increased my salary by #3000 making it #25000 with abeg.

Six months later, I rented a single room; sharing bathroom and toilet with just one guy. My mission was to get a better job and meet personalities. I kept commiting my plans to God.

Please note that #35000 salary came with strict conditions while #25000 salary gave me liberty to submit CVs in different Organisations. I submitted CV in one multinational company and today, I can say is better than yesterday because I am no longer teaching.

Five years down the lane, I am happily married and blessed with a male child. Now live in a standard rented two bedroom flat, bought a plot of land and currently building.

So if you ask me? I will say "pray to God and believe Him". Then pick the driving job because driving will give you opportunity of meeting people as just one passenger connect can change your story.

Thank you
You spoke about declining a high paying teaching job for one that gives you time to apply.
I'm in a very difficult situation like that. I finished service this year July in a private school, I was offered an option to stay which I took. This school is one of the top schools in the location it is. My take home is 48k as a primary assistant class teacher. I finished with a 2.1 and currently managing to write ICAN. I have always been applying to some top jobs in the industry I want, most times they invite me for interview but there is no way I can go for the interview. I have even written a job test online and passed, subsequently invited for the 2nd stage of the assessment but this school doesn't give one chance to see opportunities outside.

When they got to know that I am still writing ICAN after service because I started when I was serving with them, they felt bad and always look me with one kind eye...lol Imagine going to work on the day of ICAN exam? I was in school yesterday, they only allowed me to leave when it was about 2hrs to my paper.

I made a huge mistake accepting the job. Reading your own story made me realized the mistake I made.
PS: Not all jobs worth staying on as a fresh graduate , a job that doesn't allow one to see opportunities outside is not worth it.
I should have taken a small paying job or decline the offer then so as to pursue my dream.
