You call that a drop? |
Did that disgrace of a minister just say "Once a small thing happens..." ? It has gotten this bad that Kidnap of 9 students is now termed a " small thing". Truly, this country has gone to the dogs. |
xreal:Don't fall for it. If you've lived in Aba recently, you'll know it's simply format. The man always lives up to the meaning of his surname. |
Things were going well until our transformer blew on Tuesday. I got so bored I read the manual of my pressing iron. ![]() |
Patrioticman007:Clearly, you've never heard of Adaka Boro |
Never been to Abuja. But the hell I go through each day going to and coming back from work makes me embrace the angel I don't know over the devil I know. Suffer don tire me. |
All about the BBC Nuff said |
He did not complain in '09 when Ovrebo helped them defeat Chelsea. He did not complain the next year when he won the Ballon d' Or when he did fůck all that year, while Sneidjer was instrumental in winning a treble for Inter and also the WC final. Where does he think the word 'UEFAlona' came from? Wonder what he'll have done yesterday as a Nigerian, when the ref blew for a foul because the ball hit him. These things have a way of balancing themselves out, though to me he got the better part of the equation. |
Exaggerations asides, the op made some valid points. Our hierarchy has this habit of waiting till the players final season before negotiating a new deal. That alone puts the player in a prime position of either getting paid more than what he's worth (like Özil, Walcott) or leaving for 'free' (like RvP, Sánchez, Szczesny or Ramsey). The decent quid we got on some of our players came when we were still Man City's shoprite (like Adebayor). If the trend continues, we'll keep getting peanuts for players who should have gone for way more. Our sales cannot even cover a good chunk of our transfer budget. That alone is worrying. I once read an article where in the last 7-10 years we've let 25 players (starting XI or regular subs) go for a cumulative of £75m. That is £3m per player or £5m more than Chelsea paid for the World Class Morata. P. S:Chamberlain left for good money. Dude has glass bones. Koscielny had more goals than him if you put the 4-5 years both were Gunners together into context. The only other player that went for good money was Vermaelen for £15m. But then again, Barça love a good overprice. |
HBO wanted the show to go on indefinitely (kinda) GRRM said more seasons would be needed for the show to do justice to its source material (I have a feeling HBO made him withhold book 6) Yet Beinoff and Weiss believed they could actually do it all in eight seasons (or 73 episodes to be exact). The backlash the show received should be expected. |
When you squeeze in multiple plot twists and unnecessary turnaround character arcs in six episodes (something you couldn't try with 10) for the sheer purposes of shock and unpredictability rather than plausibility, GoT season 8 will be the result. |
Seun:Sansa could easily be the most entitled, bossiest character on the show. She had no business shutting her uncle, a lord in his right, up. |
oyetpel:How exactly could she demand independence 5 secs after her bro became king and everyone just nodded in agreement. The likes of the Iron Islanders and the Dornish should have also asked for theirs as well. (Before you say Dany granted the Iron Islanders independence, please explain why she voted to make Bran king). Logic went on holiday for s08. GRRM over to you. |
For a show that prides itself on being unpredictable, this ending was predictable af. |
Fans have gone mad o If you search 'bad writers' on Google, D & D will appear as one of the top results ![]() |
one9ner:Arya doesn't look like one who can stay in one place for some time. I doubt if she'll like ruling, even if it waa forced down her throat. |
JhyMedex:I thought he was gone there and then. I salute your analysis and your use of medical jargon but even a medical illiterate like me knows he shouldn't be in a fit state to keep walking after that fight, let alone look for Cersei round the Red Keep. Arya's plot armor in the last episode was legendary. The only other Stark I've seen with an armor that can rival hers is Tony. . |
chiboy1116:It's quite miraculous that the North even has an army of up to1,000 soldiers left. They've participated in Robb's rebellion from s01 to s03, ending in the Red Wedding massacre. A good number were defeated by Theon and the Iron Islanders. Fought when Stannis and Bolton clashed. Fought a civil war in the Battle of the Bástards, where an old House like Mormont could only gather 62 men. Fought the Undead. Fought alongside Jon Snow in KL. They must really be prolific at reproduction ![]() |
So much for the consistency
(The comment by Beinoff is a spinoff from his comments last week)

There was that moment when Dany was like.. "Oh, fook it!" |
irynterri:“When your tears have drowned you, the valonqar shall wrap his hands about your pale white throat and choke the life from you.” As far as prophecies go, it was close but not accurate. Still better than the PTWP prophecy that divided the GoT fanbase for years. |
Talking Points From S08E05 >>Dany Finally Snaps We've all known we were headed this path for some episodes now, even Dany supporters like me. Missandei's beheading proved to be the unwanted catalyst. Dany had always clung to her advisers, but with Jorah and Missandei gone, only Jon could have provided the support needed. It goes to show how far the Mother of a Dragon can go when pushed to the edge by Cersei. Probably, Jon should have forgotten about incest and kissed her longer. ![]() The question now is 'How does Dany continue to be a Liberator after all that carnage?' One thing we know though, by destroying the Red Keep and by extension, the Iron Throne, Dany has broken the wheel. This has always been the danger of any revolution. The rebels usually become everything they rebelled against at last. >> Valonqar Prophecy Fulfilled? “When your tears have drowned you, the valonqar shall wrap his hands about your pale white throat and choke the life from you.” After the PTWP prophecy hit the gutters, I knew the Valonqar prophecy was following it in a similar direction. Yes, you could argue that Jaime did wrap his hands (sorry, hand) around her, but it definitely wasn't to choke her. >> Another Character Dies In His Woman's Hands Jaime, Jaime, Jaime. Some argued after last week's episode that he was going back to KL to kill Cersei. Oh, come on. This is Jaime freaking Lannister we're talking about. He has been in love with Cersei from the beginning and he made it clear, for instance, to Lord Tully, that he'll do anything, such as catapulting the Riverlord's baby, for Cersei. That was even after he had his 'life changing encounter' with Brienne. >> Good Dog The Hound finally got his revenge against the Mountain. During the fight, I was one of the morons screaming 'Stab him in the eye! Stab him in the eye! That's his weak point'. Turns out that freak has no weak point, Qyburn literally gave his all for the project . The Hound realizes this and drags himself and his brother towards the fire, his greatest fear. That battle scene was visually glorious. One thing though, why is the Hound so protective of the Stark girls? His telling Arya to back off, prolly saved her life. >> Is Dany On The List Now? Arya's famous list. Famous for the reason that most on it die at the hands of someone other than hers. Arya witnessed the destruction first hand, saw the way both allies and enemies, innocents and otherwise got massacred, even when KL had surrendered. Would it be a stretch to think that she will make an attempt on the Dragon Queen's life? Then there's Jon to contend with. After seeing the desolation of KL, will Jon kill the woman he loves or will he let things slide as he's been doing for some episodes now? |
Who knew that Missandei's head was worth the whole King's Landing and everything and everyone in it put together? |
'Draco Dromiens Nunquam Titillandus' Latin for 'Never Tickle A Sleeping Dragon', the Hogwarts School motto. J.K Rowling said it, Viserys echoed it but no one close to Cersei could allow her see the light. P.S. Everyone and their grandma knew that Dany's arc was headed this way for some episodes now, hardly a shocker. |
ThothHermes:That's why I said directly or indirectly |
Funaki:You nailed it. We fans are already used to having our theories disproved and our favorite characters killed, so I don't believe that that's the reason for the backlash. This season, we now have to watch interviews of the producers/directors to infer what really happened in a scene, like the "Dany kinda forgot about the Iron Fleet" comment by David Beinoff (like WTF?). Or this one by the director of the last episode, David Nutter about Sansa ratting out Jon's secret. “Well, she doesn’t say it blatantly, of course, basically inferred it, so I think that that’s a moment that Tyrion has to put two and two together.” |
ThothHermes:An empty Casterly Rock. No gold in the mines sef. I wonder if Tyrion knew that it would be lightly guarded. I'll be disappointed if it turns out Tyrion was working against Dany (directly or indirectly) all along. |
Seun:Except if the showrunners are running the character to the ground, that's the similar conclusion I arrived at, myself. I remember back when in s01e02 when he implied that he knew that Jaime and Cersei were involved in Bran's fall from the tower. Cersei asked him whose side he was on, he replied: "You know I would do anything for my family" I also remember his look of concern when the Dothraki and Drogon were decimating the Lannister army in s07, even before Jaime charged at the wounded Drogon. The guy is very much still a Lion at heart. |
I hope the final 2 episodes make our journey since s01 worth it. Any logical ending will do... "Last week we reported that what was supposed to be perhaps the most important Game of Thrones episode, ever, had become the second-lowest rated Game of Thrones episode, of all time. Season 8, episode 3 “ The Long Night” got rated at a low 75% on Rotten Tomatoes, a low for a show that has 22 episodes rated at 100%. Now, “The Last of the Starks” has beaten the record again, sinking to a quite low 59%, placing itself dangerously close to the lowest rated Game of Thrones episode. That crown still belongs to Season 5, episode 6, “Unbowed, Unbent, Unbroken” , at 57%. It seems as if the apparently illogical death of Rhaegal, the Starbucks cup goof, and other things pushed this episode far away from being a fan favourite. However, the question is, is Season 8 going that badly? Let’s face it, Game of Thrones has an obsessive fandom. After two years, and a high level of hype, any mistake the show makes is bound to get extra attention from the fans. Not only that, it appears as if the show’s usual style of surprising the audiences is not so welcome anymore as people are questioning the logic of many of these scenes. In any case, it seems likely that the show might end up breaking the record of its lowest-rated episode before the series ends for good and if that happens, it will leave a bad aftertaste for a show that has been hailed as the best TV show, ever. Let’s just hope the show does not have a How I Met Your Mother-esque ending in store for us." https://wikiofthrones.com/24869/game-of-thrones-season-8-episode-4-second-lowest-rated-episode-ever/

athorello:Did that back in s01. Can't say I'm emotionally attached to any character. Not even Tyrion and Dany, whom I like. |
IamD18:Opposing you will only lead to endless back and forths, given your previous posts here. In one post, you said Dany is selfish, in the same post, you also said she's losing politically because of love. How do both Selfishness and Love go hand-in-hand? |
Psady:Lannisters took the North using the Boltons. You don't need the Great Houses to conquer any region. There are some Houses that usurp the supremacy of the Great Houses in their regions. Like the Freys to the Tullys or the Boltons to the Starks. |
