IamD18:It's remarkable how you turn personal opinion to 'facts'. Keep it up. Btw, if Dany was selfish as you claim, or even loves the Throne more than she loves Jon, she would have made an attempt on his life by now. Dany also has no reason to like the Starks as well. They conspired with the Lannisters and the Baratheons to end her family. |
Seun:The matter tire me o. Compared to other rulers on the show, Dany seems to be the one who actually listens to advisors. Not Robb Stark. Not Stannis (if you discount Melisandre). Not Bobby B. Not Balon Greyjoy. Definitely not Legends like Cersei and Joffery. Yet, Dany is arguably the most powerful monarch on the show. |
Cybertext:Not a plothole to me also, more like plot armour. Yeah, Drogon is the strongest dragon but a lot of things about that scene seem off. It was well criticised. They should have made Rhaegal die in the last episode. More plausible that way. Meanwhile, Anti-Dany Brigade, I hail una. The way you guys always find something to flog the Dragon Queen with, both real and imagined, is legendary. |
Fadedvoices2:That should be s02e09 |
There's something cool about seeing someone powerful in the show talked down by someone far below him. Especially when the person below realises that the 'powerful' person needs him. Their lines almost always involve the c-word. Like Bronn in this episode ("You boys are a pair of gold-plated coonts") Or Smalljon Umber to the psychotic Ramsay ("Your father was a coont") Or Titan's Bastard to Daenerys ("Show me your coont, let me see if it's what fighting for") My favorite is still by the Hound to that little shit Joffery during the Battle of the Blackwater. ("Fook the Kingsguard, Fook the City, Fook the King") The way he said that in the presence of everyone including the Kingsguard and Gold Cloaks without anyone confronting him put Sandor Clegane in my GoT Hall of Fame. |
The way the Anti-Dany Brigade play down Dany's role in the Great War is laughable though. She allowed them to mine Dragonglass when NO KNEE had been bent. She could have remained comfy in Dragonstone (shey, Jon said wights can't swim) and waited for the NK to destroy the North and Kings Landing. Seven Hells, she could easily have gone back to Mereen. The attitude of the ADB mirrors real life. Not every help you render is appreciated even when the person is actually in need. Give someone who has only a pair of shoes an extra pair, you might hear things like: "Who told him I need the shoes, sef?" "He is giving me shoes as if I'm suffering, eh? Don't be surprised if the person makes the statement while rocking the same shoes. |
Isomerizm:You do know Grey Worm has killed "a baby, snatched from its mother's arms" at least once before, right? I think the reasons he held back were (a) Tyrion could have faced the repercussions since he was definitely within range. (b) he was not commanded to We don't really have much insight into Worm's personality, so we don't know why he didn't break rank and act out of grief. Life of a Soldier |
Sansa has always been envious. I can't forget the look on her face when her father's 'bastard', Jon, was made King in s06.
|
GrabHisBalls:"Ha! The people. You think I care?" -Cersei (s02) Scary thing is that she's even worse in the books. That woman is a real she-devil. |
Cinderallagirl:Exactly what went through my mind. Two dragons against any army would be a smoke-over. |
meforkene:That plothole alone is wide enough to bury all the dead from ep03. I know peeps would say Euron was hiding in the rocks, but if you truly want to fire something that high from that angle, you have to come out to the open. |
IamD18:You're right, the options are few. If the events play out as you say, we are left with Tyrion, Cersei's only brother who hasn't taken any Kingsguard vows and Gendry, Bobby B's son legitimized by Daenerys. It may go down to democracy as fecta suggested. Anything but Sansa. I can't really recall, is Sansa still legally Tyrion's wife? Cause if she is, she has a claim if the Imp dies, no matter how depressing that sounds. |
IamD18: ![]() You want me to drink poison, ba? Abeggi, she's not even in line. |
echibuogwu:An omniscient plot device like Bran creates more plot holes for the writers than the plot twists he was intended to make. A similar reason why JK Rowling had to ditch the Time Turner and the Marauder's Map at some point in the Harry Potter series. Bran sees the past and present everywhere in the realms of Men. The best thing they should have done was to make him seek solitude in a big tree like the previous 3ER. The Missandei issue is surprising too. She was born on an island so she most likely could swim to safety. She was probably knocked unconscious when she went below deck during the attack. |
Five Of My Previously Held Views Re-Affirmed By Episode 04 >>Sansa Is An Envious Coont Apologies if you're a Sansa fan, but it is what it is. Her envy mirrors that of Cersei towards Margaery (Maegery was living the Queen life Cersei used to want). Envy, not Hatred, has always been in the little birdshit's eyes ever since the Dragon Queen set foot in Winterfell. Which of Dany's exploits can she actually match? Ruling a Khalasar (s01 not even that of s06), leading said Khalasar through the Red Waste, conquering Qarth, Astapor, Mereen etc, ruling Mereen, playing an integral part in defeating the Undead. All they have in common was being in abusive relationships, even Dany managed to turn that in her favor. She should pipe down a bit. Daenerys helped her defend her beloved territory, when she was sitting in her armchair down in the crypts. Show some respect. >>Impulsiveness Will Ultimately Cost Dany The Throne We all knew marching down South just after the Great War was a mistake. Seven Hells, even Hot Pie could have advised as much. For someone who's rooted for her from s01e01, I was screaming 'No, No, No!'. It's odd though. She was patient about conquering Westeros back in s05 when KL was in the hands of the fanatics. I am guessing being near yet so far from the Throne is bringing out the impatience in her. Where's Jorah when you need him? >>Jon Snow Knows Nothing Ygritte was right 100% about this. For crying out loud, she's an uncivilized wilding yet she surmised as much about the White Wolf. Telling his secret to Arya and Sansa is another notable addition to his Dumb Decisions Hall of Shame. >>What's The Deal With Jaime? We'll never get this guy. He's just like R Kelly. He can sing the best gospel music you've ever heard, then moments later he's pissing on an underage i n an x-rated video. I always wished he'll settle down with Brienne and remain neutral in the Last War. The chances of fulfilling that Valonqar prophecy not looking up at the moment. >> Decimation of the Tyrion Character Is A Crime Against Humanity Ever since D & D took the pen and Tyrion started growing a beard, things have been going downhill. This is supposed to be like the cleverest men in the 7K yet he keeps making one schoolboy error after the other. Making a dumb pact with the Wise Masters, preventing Daenerys from smoking the Red Keep, formulating the plan to capture a wight which led to loss of a dragon, trusting Cersei because she's preggo (which he never did when she had 3 kids). Even his witty remarks are no longer funny. Yes, all clever people get it wrong once in a while, but he has been on a roll. They need to fix that. It's hard watching a hitherto brilliant character looking like a cowering, moping drunkard everytime, especially if you are a fan like me. P. S: Cersei is a shrewd villain. Her ambush of Dany's fleet and her plan to fill up the Red Keep with civilians were smart from her POV. I hope she dies a painful death. R. I. P. Missandei of Naath. I'll miss seeing your face on the show. Who knows when the next Fast and Furious airs? |
Now that Jaime has kept his promise to fight for the living, will he join Dany's Army to fight against Cersei or will he 'ride into the sunset' with Brienne? |

Culled from Wiki of Thrones>> Melisandre is the 3rd person to die of old age This is just a random detail, but it seemed to be fun, so I have added it to the list. Game Of Thrones is known for the way it kills its characters and people can get killed in some unexpected ways in the show. What’s unusual is that a character survives long enough to die of old age and so far we have seen only two people who died of old age in the show: Hoster Tully and Aemon Targaryen. Now Melisandre joins this illustrious list of people who managed to stay alive in the show and die a natural death. |
About that episode 3... >>Now, you might remember just that one Game of Thrones episode that got a lot of hatred. It was Season 5, episode 6, “Unbowed, Unbent, Unbroken”, which is infamously remembered for the Sansa Stark marriage scene and it is the lowest ranked Game of Thrones episode ever, standing in at a weak 57% on Rotten Tomatoes. “The Long Night” now has sunk to 75% at Rotten Tomatoes. While this is not as bad as 57%, it still makes the episode the lowest ranked one since Season 5, and the second lowest ranked Game of Thrones episode, ever. After “The Long Night” we have “The Bear and the Maiden Fair”, at 77%. Fans had many complaints with “The Long Night”, the biggest of which was that it was too dark to comprehend, speaking in terms of lighting. Many fans were also disappointed that Arya was the one to kill the Night King and that it seemed too easy for a villain with such an elaborate set-up to be killed so easily. This episode also is a record low for Miguel Sapochnik, Game of Thrones’ speciality battle episodes director, who usually has very high ranks with his episodes. It’s also sort of a shame because Game of Thrones has a whopping 22 episodes that are rated at 100%. >> https://wikiofthrones.com/24324/long-night-lowest-ranked-game-of-thrones-episode-since-season-5/?taim&fbclid=IwAR08uGKU9QFzVzVeuFYNrAvQEF60C0WGi_DtybCZAwFqk2WIue4l6yyJqQ8 P. S: Rotten Tomatoes aggregates the reviews of critics and gives its score. My major issue with ep. 3 is the lighting. That was effed up. |
meforkene:In the night before the battle of Bastards, Sansa told Jon she knows nothing about wars and strategies. But given the manner things have been going for some time now, I won't be surprised if the showrunners turn her into the female version of Julius Caesar before the season runs out. |
The theory of Arya wearing a WW's face seems far fetched to me. Sure she has powers and is an ex-Faceless Man, but the WWs are undead definitely not human. Except if she has perfected the art of stopping her heart from beating or her body warmth, which is the way WW easily detect human presence (implied by Old Nan in the books). That was simply a sneak attack. It seemed desperate and not likely to work, but the NK underestimated her, similar to the manner the giant did with Lyanna (classic foreshadowing). The only snag in this sneak attack theory is that the godswood was apparently empty. She might have been lurking somewhere off-screen though. |
vetrovialMan:Dunno about you, but I was singing Wiz Khalifa's "We Dem Boyz" as he and his boys were bouncing towards Bran. |
Isomerizm:How exactly do you interpret it? Jon has surrendered. He was the King in the North and bending the knee on behalf of the entire North. During Aegon's Conquest, it was only Torrhen Stark's knee that mattered. Sansa making that statement was to make it seem she had a say-so in the matter. Nobody really cares whether she grumbles about it or not. The trailer for ep04 implies that the North will get behind Dany in her fight for the Iron Throne. Sansa can always find a private place to cry in Winterfell (there are lots of those). |
Ksslib:This your post is gold. ![]() Lord of Light go find you oh |
Isomerizm:"Your Grace, Winterfell is yours" I think those were Sansa's exact words in the presence of everyone. She keeps deceiving herself she has a say in the matter. Going back on her words will make her a Lady of no honor. The best she can do is whine and grumble, which I must admit, she's an expert at. Jon is the warden. He has sealed the fate of the North. It is his verdict that matters, never mind how the showrunners are trying to downplay his importance. To me, Dany is the biggest loser of the episode. She's lost her right hand man, her Dothraki screamers, a good number of Unsullied and her dragons are wounded. Her position is badly weakened. I wonder what kind of ecstasy Cersei will feel when she hears the news. Sansa should make no mistake. If she finally has two brain cells to rub together as she wants us to believe, she should know that Cersei will surely come for the North if she defeats the Dragon Queen. |
meforkene:Nobody wan try. If you leave this thread for just 3 hours and come back later, you'll find yourself like 5 pages behind. ![]() |

Magnifico2000:Happy you mentioned the crossbow. That is a weapon used for fighting. Ergo, Ramsay can fight, he does not necessarily have to be the best at it. |
HanksAnuku:More like, puts all the S's in uSeleSSneSS And she even has the guts to diss Daenerys. Ingrate! The most satisfying death to me was Joffery's. That little shii has no skill except cruelty. At least, Ramsay knew how to fight and was relatively cunning |
echibuogwu:He became poorly developed after the showrunners had the wheel. His character development went to the dogs. They made him look so cowardly whereas he had already tasted battle. Once in s01 where he marshalled the Mountain tribes and lasted only 5 mins. The other was in the Battle of the Blackwater. He got the nickname 'Halfman' from the battlefield. The least they could do for him was to give him a 'Davos role'. It was so pathetic to watch for a Tyrion fan like me. I know GRRM will do a better job with the character so I won't lose sleep over it. I don't even want to dabble into his sudden loss of intelligence. That one is a disgrace. |
Cybertext:I literally clapped. The most beautiful woman on the show put her in her place. |
