As a Nigerian and an IGBO MAN , whose father is Igbo (IMO state) and mother Kalabari(RIVERS state). Being someone who has interacted with so many class of people from different works of life and from different parts of the country and even outside our country.
I have noticed the common hatred Nigerians have for IGBOS, which to me I believe is out of ignorance.
But what me I can point out is there is a scheme going out there by some groups of people who have nothing better to do than to keep discrediting us as a people, deceiving gullible Nigerians about why igbos cannot be trusted with any position in Nigeria especially the presidency which was dominated by the northern conservative elements for a long time and now this power is being passed to the Yoruba Muslims.
If you examine the northern leaders, the Yoruba leader(obasanjo) and goodluck Jonathan.
Both southern leaders tried their best, there was no discrimination against any part of the country, obasanjo did not make any Yoruba man army chief till he left instead northern Christians were given that post, minister of defense was given to the IGBOS, he never discriminated against us, Jonathan gave the IGBOS army chief and never discriminated against us.
Both leaders obasanjo and Jonathan went for the best brains unlike what we had under Buhari, I keep wondering how such a man with no leadership qualities became the president of this great country after 8 miserable years of misrule , he left the country in shambles economically, politically, socially and financially, he destroyed the very fabric of unity and placed incompetent class of people like himself into positions destroying everything that would have made this country great. He was a clueless leader and cannot comprehend anything,, today he is out of power after leaving the country in a mess. A real big mess which this present regime has to deal with wisely, by putting competent people and not play politics of tribalism.
If you look at Nigeria , the mess we are in today was never caused by the igbos , if you calculate the amount of money stolen by northerners and yorubas , since the end of the Biafran war in 1970 , you will weep for this country, they have schemed and manipulated the minds of Nigerians, deceiving them , they were so perfect in their acts that some igbos are denying their identity especially some from the SS region.

Till we start telling ourselves the truth nothing will work in this country, insulting and bashing the igbos daily by the likes of Reno omokri, Asari dokibo, etc will not fix the economy, bringing out fake statistics about igbos, will not fix the economy, insulting Igbos will not fix the economy, marginalizing the igbos will not fix the economy, hating them will not fix the economy, breaking their shops will not fix the economy, chasing them out of Lagos will not fix the economy, killing them will not fix the economy, jailing Nnamdi Kanu will not fix the economy, intimidating the igbos will not fix the economy, lying against the igbos will not fix the economy.
It is time we look inwardly as a people, and try to get it right, by being holistic in our approach to solving our common problems, and knowing what that problem is, and not wasting our time on hating one tribe (igbos) which will take this country nowhere,
The irony about this country is after giving us just 20 pounds after the civil war, which was done deliberately, we came back stronger, which was a shocker to them, OBI’s feat in this election was a shocker to some people that was why someone wanted an indigenous law in Lagos.
IGBOS SUCCESS after the civil is a cause of worry to some people and that success is the real reason for this HATRED, the election in Lagos alone has proved my point, the recent fake statistics on registered business owners, again has proved my point, demolition of Alaba has proved my point, indigenous law for Lagos has proved my point, castigating OBI who we all know performed very well has proved my point, keep holding onto Nnamdi Kanu after several court orders for his release has proved my point,
The success of our children in examination has proved my point (most are always at the top)
Let us focus more on the real cause of our economic woes which was not caused by the IGBOS but by bad leadership
THE TRUTH IS ALWAYS BITTER but the truth will help us a lot I pray no leader like BUHARI should rule this country again and I pray For President TINUBU to succeed.

Being an IGBO MAN who grew up all his life in Lagos , surulere precisely and speaks the Yoruba language fluently and have so many Yoruba friends. And who loves and respect the Yoruba’s.
In the 70’s and 80’s as kids we all play together especially football , we visit each other homes, being conscious of our education we wrote WAEC and also JAMB some of us went to the university outside Lagos some of my Yoruba friends even schooled in UNN (but today some Yorubas are afraid to school in the east or do their NYSC there) me I schooled in a university in the south south region
I remember vividly what happened during the 1993 general election MKO ABIOLA a Yoruba man defeated TOFA a Kano indigene in Kano state, just as PETER OBI defeated TINUBU in Lagos state, yet the northerners did not threaten the Yoruba’s in Kano or any other indigene.
What people did not realize or understand especially the AGBERO politicians is that both Abiola and Obi won because of their charisma and popularity and because people want change and the best brains in the case of Abiola he has friends all over the country (a lesson to our agbero politicians who are ethnic champions) it was unfortunate that the northern military oligarchs annulled that election. They did it because they thought power belongs to them only, they learnt their lesson afterwards and thi’s paved the way for a Yoruba man SHONEKON to replace IBB and eventually for obasanjo a Yoruba man to be voted into power.
I remember then how the British government warned the northerners to give power to the Yoruba’s or face the consequences they OBIDIENTLY obliged ,they know if Nigeria disintegrates they will be the poorest region in the world.
If Nigeria disintegrates which I don’t pray for those regions that has no resources will suffer so much, and those who have might mismanage it and suffer also so let us not think about it, because it will come with a bloody price and those who think non indigenes will be chased out of Lagos because of some SATANIC laws are only having a pipe dream you don’t just chase away a people after investing so much in your land and you cannot force them to vote for someone of your choice because nobody had ever forced the Yoruba’s to vote against their choice in other regions, but if those agbero politicians and their followers decide to do otherwise the Yoruba’s will never recover from the consequences people will relocate so fast and Lagos economy will crumble so fast because (read about the capital flight in San Francisco USA which is becoming a failed city in Newsweek magazine drugs, murder etc are driving people Away)
So my advice to those AGBERO politicians that wants to cause problem to think twice don’t push non indigenes especially the IGBOS to the wall , your kinsman TINUBU is in power so rejoice while it last ,be happy and grateful to GOD, don’t push your luck too far Igbo are more concerned about their business than politics they have moved on with their lives so don’t tamper with their hard earned wealth , we Igbos will rather live in comfort than live in penury and be praising leaders that have nothing to offer because they are in POWER even if they are Igbo,
To those Yoruba who mainly are not indigenes of Lagos(Those who have taken over the state from the real aborigines) but are spearheading this should be prepared of what will befall Lagos, which are, poor revenue, crime(lots of it) , millions of Agbero roaming the street, strife, movement of non indigenes to there states, loss of oil well by Yoruba elites, loss of foreign investment ,suicide , ethnic awareness (IFE/MODAKKE, aworis, ijebus, illajes, etc will now notice there differences.

Being an Igbo man who went to both primary and secondary schools here in Lagos , and has assimilated with the Yoruba’s so much and even speak their language , the best man in my wedding was a Yoruba man , the chairman of my wedding was a Yoruba man , the pastor in my local church who officiated was also a Yoruba man of GOD.
I keep wondering why this present day crop of politicians especially the likes of obasa who to me looks so much like an Agbero than a politician, can make such a statement, I like the Yoruba’s as a people and I benefited from Awo”s free education in the 70’s and 80’s we were given free books those days regardless of which part of Nigeria you are from, those days the UPN as a party built massive infrastructures that is why you will see jakande estates in so many parts of the state, I was very young back then and I remember playing football with my Yoruba friends in school, and there was nothing like igbophobia we had Yorubas as Neighbors back then, shagari was the president and ekueme was his vice umezuoke was the speaker Awo a Yoruba man who lost to shagari and who helped to keep the country one during the civil war was never hostile to the igbos after the 1979 elections he took everything like a mature politician and went on with his life there was no threat of “IF YOU don’t vote for me you will have to LEAVE Lagos “we had lots of non indigenes living in surulere and we saw each other as Nigerians but today being married with kids I feel as if am living in a different Nigeria where AGBERO politicians has taken over, the real reason for this outburst is because this man and his cohorts have nothing to offer and we’re surprised by Peter obi’s vote in Lagos and even defeating their mentor tinubu which was a real shocker to him and his likes, they are afraid that they are loosing control of Lagos and it is the reason for this outburst ITS ALL ABOUT FEAR.

Nigeria as we know has not reached its full potential, economically, and militarily, when compared to countries like turkey, Brazil, India, South Korea, Taiwan, what these countries have in common is there will and seriousness to develop.
We cannot say same for Nigeria, a country full of ethnic hatred, and poverty, and a political system which tends to serve the rich only, these concluded presidential election has opened to the surface the deep hatred we have for each other.
My Igbo brothers are now thinking of relocating their businesses to the east and eventually settling down there, cousins that are living abroad are trying to sell all there properties in Lagos and investing in the east as a result of the fallout of these election, they see Lagos as bad economic investment, with the way the Yoruba’s are behaving, the brotherhood of all ethnic nationality's is fast eroding. I keep wondering why the Yoruba’s hardly invest outside their region, what are they afraid off please I need someone to tell me.
These bring me to the topic of resource control, all over the world the regions of countries reflects the wealth which lies underneath their soil, California is the richest state in America because most of the wealth created their are controlled and kept by the state , they only pay taxes to the center, likewise Andalusia, Catalonia, Barcelona in Spain, Bavaria in Germany, Scotland and England in the UK , sandton in South Africa just to name a few.
Nigeria needs true federalism and resource control to develop.
When it was suggested in the house of assembly and the senate that oil companies should relocate their head offices to their region of operations Yoruba senators where vehemently opposed to it, I wonder what their reasons were, you cannot be extracting oil from a place and be paying taxes from your headquarters to another place, it doesn’t make sense .
Texas is the largest oil producing state in the USA and that is were you will find the head offices of most oil firms , if each state in Nigeria controls their resources and a new political system is introduced to make it difficult for politicians to steal, I bet you these country will develop so fast, a system were corrupt politicians are jailed and punished etc Brazil, South Korea, south Africa, USA, Europe and a system were the six regions in the country can have a Governor General () overseeing the states, with someone like Peter obi being the in the south east and Atiku can be the in the Northeast and kwankwaso In the NW etc these will reduce lots of tensions and ethnic hatred, and it will make each regions to strategize and bring about development they will be begging for investors to come to their regions even if it is local, I BELIEVE POWER IN THE CENTER SHOULD BE DISSIPATED AND NOT CONSOLIDATED each region should be given the chance to grow at their own pace these will bring about a lasting peace and unity, the issue of indigenes and settlers should be resolved also, we have Nigerians holding political offices in other countries but we cannot tolerate ourselves holding political offices in our regions
Obama’s father was a Kenyan , yet he became the president of the most prosperous and powerful nation on earth, there is too much hatred, illiteracy, backwardness, poverty and underdevelopment in this country countries like India have various languages yet they are ahead of us.
Daily we read on social media how ibos and Yorubas are always at each other’s throat , even before this election, let us practice true federalism and resource control and dissipate more powers to the regions you will see how the hatred we have for each other will disappear .
Again each states should be allowed to fix the term limit and salaries of each governor’s we are running a unitary system that has outlived its usefulness.
Yoruba’s should not be afraid of ibo’s taking over there land they should be more concerned
About bringing developments to their region and ibo’s should not be afraid of not ruling these country they have been at the helm of affairs before , including being the governor of Lagos state ebitu ukiwe and Udubusi Kanu , they have been army chief, naval chiefs, IGP, Vice President, foreign ministers, secretary to the government, central bank governors and many more posts.
Northerners should not be afraid of resource control since they have discovered oil in their region
Yoruba’s should not be afraid even as they have not discovered oil in their region, we have not heard anything concerning the one discovered in Lagos, I pray each regions discover oil so that we can continue to live in peace

I have been following the political situation in south west Nigeria, regarding the 2023 elections.
What I don’t really understand about the Yoruba people is why are they always insecure around ibo people, they see ibo’s as a threat , threat from what I don’t know, they have this delusion that ibo’s wants to take over their land, how possible that is I still don’t know, oil wealth which they don’t have was used to build Lagos and made some of their fathers rich, if Lagos was not a capital I wonder what it would have looked like? Or if every region were controlling their resources how their lives would have been like, or if all ibo’s are to leave Lagos and if it is possible carry all their buildings along with them I wonder how their Lagos will be like, what they don’t realize is the day Nigeria will be no more, they will be worst hit because they will have nothing to sustain their Lagos.
The south west is the poorest in terms of mineral resources, just like their counterpart in the northwest, if they disagree let us practice true federalism and let them manage their meager resources and let every ibo man leave their land , they will realize that even Cotonou with a sea port will be far ahead of them, let them continue to pray for Nigeria to remain one and for them to keep enjoying the oil wealth that they don’t have, because if they provoke the ibo’s to a point they will realize their mistake, let them ask their father’s that fought the civil war the reason why they did it,
They did because of the oil wealth they are enjoying today.
So the Yoruba’s must desist from anything that will destroy these nation especially tribal hatred against the ibo’s , let them think deep how their lives will be like if these country is no more, agbero’s will take over all parts of their land in an Oduduwa republic, with no ibo’s in their land to hate, they will now face each other, ibo’s have invested so much in your land , now they are planning of relocating their investments, mark my words true federalism is coming when oil wealth stops flowing to your region you will beg ibo’s to bring back their investment, after the civil war ibo’s worked so hard to have a lot of middle class, keep praying these country doesn’t go the way of Russia but the way of China (prosperity).
I keep wondering who actually owns the Lagos they make so much noise about is it them or the Bini people ?
Coming back to these elections ibo’s don’t really care who your governor is or who your president is we have made our point across, we care about our businesses more , as I said earlier keep praying for Nigeria to be one, and do things that will unite us and not divide us , if you keep saying ibo’s should leave Lagos it will be the beginning of your doom

As an Igbo man who grew up all his life in Lagos precisely in surulere and speaks Yoruba language like a native, I had a bitter experience recently, I registered with an estate agent who is Yoruba, and asked him to look for a shop for me, he thought I was Yoruba like him the way I was communicating with him in his native language, but when I filled his form and he found out that I was Igbo he was shocked because my accent was purely Yoruba, anyway to cut a long story short, he took me to see another agent who has what I was looking for, immediately this other agent knew I was Igbo he told me the owner of the property doesn't want any Igbo person, I now ask him why ? He said the owner is comfortable with only his tribe , I now told my agent to look for another property for me.
Nairalanders please what can be done to stop this trend , so many of my Igbo brother has told me how they have had similar experience , I know of racial discrimination by whites against blacks because of the color of our skin but discrimination by Black's against blacks doesn't make sense to me
Please this trend should stop for ethnic harmony and love to prevail, this reminds me of racism in America
I hope the owner of the property or those who are like him if they have any business apart from property, like supermarkets, filling station etc, they should stop any Igbo person from buying there, they should go the whole way of banning Igbos from there businesses including banks they should stop collecting deposit money from our people. It's funny how we do things in this part of the world, is it the presidency that is suppose to fight corruption.
To me corruption should be fought by the EFCC under the ministry of justice and the presidency should have no power over its affairs, the president can appoint the EFCC chairman for 5yrs but he would not have the power to sack him, that should be left to the national judiciary commission.
The EFCC must be made independent and be able to investigate every arm of government including the presidency
To me I will believe in any corruption fight the day I will see a former president jailed as we have seen in South Korea, Brazil etc..
