Christianity EtcRe: Why Did Christ Really Come Down To Earth by Lex11(m): 8:52pm On Jan 25, 2015
marveangel:
Even as I type there is this evangelist standing in front of my compound preaching....there is this question am itching to ask him but since I am not the one he is directly preaching to I don't want to appear rude or nosey...lemme ask hopefully someone here can throw more light on this issue...Why exactly did Christ come to earth to die for our sins.....I have been taught over the years that God is the creator heaven and earth, he has the power to forgive do all things and FORGIVE sins....If these were True how come GOD could not forgive Adam(man's) sin HIMSELF..why did Jesus have to come and die like a sacrificial animal for man to get redemption....couldn't baba GOD just by himself say 'okay Man, u have been forgiven and free from sin'....afterall he is GOD and whatever HE says is true and law.........

This is not to diss any religion....me just need someone to clarify things for me.
===========

GOD is perfect in every way and principled, so on principle He has said that sin can be forgiven, but it must be paid for... "And almost all things are by the law purged with blood; and without shedding of blood is no remission." - Hebrews 9:22

Only God Himself, in the Person of The Lord Jesus Christ is qualified to make that payment... He didn't have to, but selflessly did according to His will. I just thank GOD that there is such an indescribable opportunity for regeneration and reconciliation with Him.
----------------------------------------
"My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous: And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world." - 1 John 2:1-2

Due to the level of sin and those who reject christ or do not accept christain religion Christain's always boost that there are more pple going to hell than those going to heaven even those who claim to have gone to heaven and came back always report the alarming number of soul's roasting in hell except satan and his demon's who they report are always seen enjoying their selves while touchering other soul's. the queston is this, since God and satan is said to be or seem's to be contesting for human souls is satan not having the upper hand.

OP, what planet are you living on?? All you need is some cash and very little of what can be construed as charisma. Sad, but true... because corruption has created and perpetuates an overly paternalistic, very warped society full of desperation! Thus, I don't blame the women in total, I blame those who have selfishly "governed" since the beginning.

JesusisLord85:
I have a whole detailed thread, with precepts, that shows that to be incorrect. Can you bring your precepts.
-------------
I read your thread, respectfully -

You precepts are based, in pertinent part, upon the premise that “A foreigner or stranger could be anybody”, including those of the same nation as the one calling the other a stranger.

Just like I indicated in my original reply (https://www.nairaland.com/2074575/god-god-only-jews#29488299) there is a nation of Israel (some or most of which will go to Heaven, while some won’t), and then there is the Spiritual Nation of Israel (everyone from the beginning of time, Jew or otherwise that will go to Heaven, others will not)… all only by God’s grace.

Examples of those that we know were/are justified by the blood of Christ Jesus The Lord who are not of Jewish nationality and thus gentiles/strangers? The Ethiopian Eunuch - (Acts 8:26-40)

Cornelius of Caesarea, a centurion of the band called the Italian band - (Acts 10 & Acts 11:1-18). This reference is particularly important because the apostles and brethren protested and questioned Simon Peter about preaching the word of God to the “Gentiles” (Acts 11:1)… but after he explained to them that God Himself had authorized him to do so via a vision and other confirmations …it reads “When they heard these things, they held their peace, and glorified God, saying, Then hath God also to the Gentiles granted repentance unto life.” (Acts 11:18).

The Apostle Paul was commanded to go preach the gospel to the “heathen.” He first went to Arabia, and the back the Damascus (Syria). (Galatians 1: 15-17).

What was the purpose of preaching the word of God? So that these heathen/gentiles/foreigners/strangers might be saved by God’s grace as well as the Jews (apostles and others). “So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.” Romans 10:17

I could go on and on, but one telling verse that helps harmonize the preceding verses that I identified above re: a spiritual/twelve tribe Israel consisting of not only Jews/descendants of Abraham, but also many Heathen/Gentiles is this:

And they sung a new song, saying, Thou art worthy to take the book, and to open the seals thereof: for thou wast slain, and hast redeemed us to God by thy blood out of every kindred, and tongue, and people, and nation” - Revelation 5:9

Christianity EtcRe: Is God A God Of Only The Jews by Lex11(m): 6:26pm On Jan 04, 2015
Yes, GOD Himself separated the nation of Israel and favored them above all other nations - "For thou art an holy people unto the Lord thy God: the Lord thy God hath chosen thee to be a special people unto himself, above all people that are upon the face of the earth. The Lord did not set his love upon you, nor choose you, because ye were more in number than any people; for ye were the fewest of all people: But because the Lord loved you, and because he would keep the oath which he had sworn unto your fathers, hath the Lord brought you out with a mighty hand, and redeemed you out of the house of bondmen, from the hand of Pharaoh king of Egypt." - Deuteronomy 7:6-8.

They (the nation of Israel) are illustrative (like other old testament signs) of how GOD has been separating, by grace, a spiritual nation of Israel in Christ Jesus The Lord since the fall of Adam... those who have, by GOD's mercies and operation alone, are truly born of The Holy Spirit and justified. (Romans 9:15-16).

So, in the end... it really all boils down to the individual or person and his or her standing in the sight of GOD.

A parable...

"Then came Peter to him, and said, Lord, how oft shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? till seven times? Jesus saith unto him, I say not unto thee, Until seven times: but, Until seventy times seven. Therefore is the kingdom of heaven likened unto a certain king, which would take account of his servants. And when he had begun to reckon, one was brought unto him, which owed him ten thousand talents. But forasmuch as he had not to pay, his lord commanded him to be sold, and his wife, and children, and all that he had, and payment to be made. The servant therefore fell down, and worshipped him, saying, Lord, have patience with me, and I will pay thee all. Then the lord of that servant was moved with compassion, and loosed him, and forgave him the debt. But the same servant went out, and found one of his fellowservants, which owed him an hundred pence: and he laid hands on him, and took him by the throat, saying, Pay me that thou owest. And his fellowservant fell down at his feet, and besought him, saying, Have patience with me, and I will pay thee all. And he would not: but went and cast him into prison, till he should pay the debt. So when his fellowservants saw what was done, they were very sorry, and came and told unto their lord all that was done. Then his lord, after that he had called him, said unto him, O thou wicked servant, I forgave thee all that debt, because thou desiredst me: Shouldest not thou also have had compassion on thy fellowservant, even as I had pity on thee? And his lord was wroth, and delivered him to the tormentors, till he should pay all that was due unto him. So likewise shall my heavenly Father do also unto you, if ye from your hearts forgive not every one his brother their trespasses." - Matthew 18:21-35

"But Abraham said, Son, remember that thou in thy lifetime receivedst thy good things, and likewise Lazarus evil things: but now he is comforted, and thou art tormented. And beside all this, between us and you there is a great gulf fixed: so that they which would pass from hence to you cannot; neither can they pass to us, that would come from thence. Then he said, I pray thee therefore, father, that thou wouldest send him to my father's house: For I have five brethren; that he may testify unto them, lest they also come into this place of torment. Abraham saith unto him, They have Moses and the prophets; let them hear them. And he said, Nay, father Abraham: but if one went unto them from the dead, they will repent. And he said unto him, If they hear not Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded, though one rose from the dead." - Luke 16:25-31

No remission/cancellation or forgiveness of sins. Who else but GOD Himself, in the Person of the Lord Jesus Christ, is qualified to make an offering/appeasement for sins (of many)?

We should thank GOD for such a Selfless sacrifice, because He didn't have to, but He lovingly did. "Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends." - John 15:13

OP, our "righteousnesses are as filthy rags" - (Isaiah 64:6) & we, before salvation by God's grace alone, are dead in trespasses and sins (Ephesians 2:1)... so, we don't "allow" God to change us, He sovereignly and mercifully does so according to His perfect will.

"What shall we say then? Is there unrighteousness with God? God forbid. For he saith to Moses, I will have mercy on whom I will have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I will have compassion. Christianity EtcRe: What Does It Mean To Be Born Of Water And Of The Spirit? John 3:5. by Lex11(m): 4:40pm On Nov 23, 2014
Ukutsgp:
1 There was a man of the Pharisees named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews. 2 This man came to Jesus by night and said to Him, “Rabbi, we know that You are a teacher come from God; for no one can do these signs that You do unless God is with him.” 3 Jesus answered and said to him, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.” 4 Nicodemus said to Him, “How can a man be born when he is old? Can he enter a second time into his mother’s womb and be born?” 5 Jesus answered, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God. 6 That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. -John3:1-6.

what does it mean to be born of water and the spirit from verse 5 above?
--------------
Simply put my friend...

Water = the word of GOD, the Holy Bible. We are saved/spiritually & miraculously reborn when we come under the hearing of the word of GOD, by the operation of GOD because "the word of God is living..." (Hebrew 4:12). GOD washes us/His church in Christ with the word -> "That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word" - Ephesians 5:26... "So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God." - Romans 10:17

Born of the Spirit = Occurs simultaneously with the hearing of the word of GOD, at the moment GOD saves someone... "In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise," Ephesians 1:13.... "To redeem them that were under the law, that we might receive the adoption of sons. And because ye are sons, God hath sent forth the Spirit of his Son into your hearts, crying, Abba, Father." - Galatians 4:5-6

Water baptism is merely a sign. Only GOD Himself can cause a person to be truly born of the water of the word and the Holy Spirit. (John 1:12-13)
Christianity EtcRe: What Are The Benefits Of Long Prayer by Lex11(m): 4:22pm On Nov 23, 2014
I believe that the only thing that should motivate someone to spend such an amount of time in prayer before GOD is a true love of GOD and a true desire to commune with/spend time with GOD... not because one is trying to meet some requirement or expectation of others.

Whenever the Holy Spirit moves you to pray, then pray... in your room, silently in your heart, etc.

"Pray without ceasing." - 1 Thessalonians 5:17
++++++++++++++++++

"But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly. But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking. Be not ye therefore like unto them: for your Father knoweth what things ye have need of, before ye ask him." - Matthew 6:6-8

"How can I learn to not take offense at little things?" -

http://www.gotquestions.org/take-offence.html
If, by God's grace alone, we remember His indescribably abundant mercies toward us and the sacrifices that He (The Lord Jesus Christ Himself) made and the insults He endured from His own creatures, particularly from His birth to His crucifixion ... we should be humbled by such facts and thoughts because who are we?

Often, we inherently take offense because of an element of pride within. Try to ignore, avoid if necessary and forgive quickly.

Speaking in tongues is NOT a criteria for getting into Heaven.

"For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." - John 3:16

Believing is a criteria, by the operation of God Himself, by His grace through Faith.

FamilyRe: Under What Conditions Should A Christian (born Again) Divorce? by Lex11(m): 3:30pm On Nov 23, 2014
There should be NO divorce for any reason... in Matthew 5:32 and Matthew 19:9, the original Greek word "parektovß" was translated "saving" / "except" and should have been interpreted without exception to. The entire word of God is harmonious from cover to cover, (even though there may appear to be contradictions)...so in comparing Matt 5:32 & Matt 19:9 with the entire Bible, there should be nothing that ends a marriage..."Wherefore they are no more twain, but one flesh. What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder" - Matthew 19:6... except the death of a spouse.

"For the woman which hath an husband is bound by the law to her husband so long as he liveth; but if the husband be dead, she is loosed from the law of her husband. So then if, while her husband liveth, she be married to another man, she shall be called an adulteress: but if her husband be dead, she is free from that law; so that she is no adulteress, though she be married to another man. " - Romans 7:2-3

Even though GOD temporarily permitted men to divorce their wives for substantive/righteous reasons of His own - "He saith unto them, Moses because of the hardness of your hearts suffered you to put away your wives: but from the beginning it was not so." - Matthew 19:8

GOD hates divorce - "For the Lord, the God of Israel, saith that he hateth putting away: for one covereth violence with his garment, saith the Lord of hosts: therefore take heed to your spirit, that ye deal not treacherously." - Malachi 2:16

We ought to forgive one another, by His grace, no matter the nature of the sin and work through it, praying in the process because we "walk by Faith..."
