I've thought about going Linux one of these days. Would you care to suggest a good laptop I can use it on without issues?

You can use it on almost any laptop without issues. However, Linux has many types (also called distros). There are the ones that are a bit difficult to maintain and handle (Arch, Manjaro etc), and there are the ones that are really friendly to those who have used windows all their lives (Ubuntu, Mint etc).

Having said that, I'll still advise you to get a good laptop with at least 4gb ram (should be fast oh) and a 2ghz processor (preferably an i5 3rd gen and above). As for the distro you'll use, do your research. There are many distros and each have their own problems, though I must warn you to stay away from Ubuntu and any distribution that is called a rolling release (Arch for example) Ubuntu is damn slow, and rolling releases are akin to living on the edge.

Nawa oh. What type of RAM do you use and how fast is it? Have you tried freeing up some of your space? Have you tried defragmenting your harddisk? Have you also considered the possibility of a virus? Use tasklist from the command line to get a list of programs running and post a screen shot.

I did stuff like troubleshooting and since I we deal a lot with computer accessories one should be able to differentiate between a hardware problem from a software.

That is a phone man. Phones have complex undocumented hardware, so when one develops a fault, it's usually difficult to run a complete diagnosis on it to understand the issue at hand.

And all that isn't supposed to be a computer scientist's business. I'm sure people like Linus Torvalds or Edsger Dijkstra won't even know the difference between both, but they're regularly mentioned when it comes to computer science. You don't need to beat yourself about it.

In as much as I agree with you. You still don't understand some hard facts. Are you aware most of our politicians are their customers? There's a popular politician here in lagos who loves football.
