If you can really appoint those whose opinions are contrary to yours in a political settings, these means apart from being a politician, you are indeed a role model to other politicians

President Buhari has always differentiate himself from the common politicians, that's why he is overrated, they politicians know he thinks different from them

PoliticsBuhari May Not Sack Aisha Alhassan by lightblazingnow(op): 6:50am On Sep 11, 2017
President Muhammadu Buhari may not sack Minister of Women Affairs Aisha Alhassan despite calls for her to get the push following her comments, a source said yesterday.

Sen. Alhassan shocked many when she said she would not support Buhari, should he decide to run in 2019. Her loyalty, she said, is to former Vice President Atiku Abuabakar.

This is the third time the minister has made such comments against the President and his administration.

The minister was alleged to have visited Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) national caretaker chairman;
lambasted the administration during a session at the national secretariat of the All Progressives Congress (APC); and
the Sallah homage to ex-Vice President Atiku Abubakar in Yola.
A member of the President’s kitchen Cabinet, who spoke in confidence, said Buhari knew Senator Alhassan as a die-hard Atiku loyalist before appointing her as a minister.

The source said: “Buhari is not going to sack or dismiss her. The attitude in the Presidency is to let her go on her own if she has 100 per cent loyalty to ex-Vice President Atiku Abubakar.

“Some of you may not know that this is not the first time the minister has attacked the President and his administration.

“Aisha’s loyalty to Atiku is not new to the government. She has been with him all along as well as during the presidential primaries. It is nothing new.

“And for Aisha to say that she was appointed a minister on the basis of her strength is false. The President appointed her on the basis of his conviction despite her loyalty to Atiku. Even the near miss she had with the governorship election in Taraba State was because of Buhari. Without Buhari’s popularity, she would not have garnered votes as much as she did.

“They are making noise now in order to draw out the President. She won’t be sacked or dropped because she will now make noise as if an injustice has been meted out to her.”

The source added: “Certainly, the presidency will take up issues with the minister and her godfather.”

Another source said some of the President’s strategist met at the weekend and opposed Sen. Alhassan’s sack.

The “strategists” met in Abuja and concluded that taking action against the minister might cause distractions for the administration.

“We want her to remain in government and exercise her freedom of expression to the fullest. No one will tamper with her rights and privileges. We need to learn from the past.

“We also want to demonstrate that there can be opposition in a government without any consequences. This is the essence of democracy,” the source said.

Also yesterday, Senator Alhassan denied threatening to expose Kaduna State Governor Nasir El Rufai’s alleged role in the kidnap of the Chibok girls.

According to her, those behind the statement were out to tarnish her image.

A statement relased by her in a text message to our reporter, said: “The attention of the Minister of Women Affairs, Senator Aisha Jummai Alhassan has been drawn to a statement allegedly made by her against Governor Nasir El Rufai.

“The statement allegedly made by her is another ploy by mischief makers to tarnish her hard earned reputation.

“The current APC government under President Buhari inherited series of problems from the past administration; the kidnap of the Chibok girls by the dreaded Boko Haram happens to be one of them and President Buhari and our military had been able to rescue some of them and checked Boko Haram’s excesses. Senator Jummai is not in possession of any security report and therefore will never have made the statement allegedly made by her against the person of Governor El-Rufai.”

Atiku, Alhassan know fates on Monday as APC NWC meets
puoreports.com

A former Vice President and chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, Atiku Abubakar, and the Minister of Women Affairs and Social Development, Senator Aisha Alhassan, will know their fate as regard their continued stay in the APC on Monday as the party’s National Working Committee meets to deliberate on comments credited to them regarding the party, 2019 presidential election and President Muhammadu Buhari.

Abubakar had in an interview during the week complained of having been sidelined in the affairs of the party, while Alhassan declared her support for the former vice president ahead of Buhari for the 2019 presidential election.

This development was confirmed to Saturday Punch by the APC National Vice Chairman, North-East, Mustapha Salihu.

Salihu, according to the newspaper, explained that the issue at stake was a national one, which the party’s NWC would look into.

He, however, said to the best of his knowledge, there was currently no petition against the minister before the party.

He was quoted as having said: “This is a national issue.

“I think by Monday, we will sit and we will address the matter, but I can assure you that there is no cause for alarm.

“Our party is intact and on ground.”

Serious Tension as AGF Attacks EFCC Over High Profile Cases List
Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Mr. Abubakar Malami
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has been blasted by the Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Mr. Abubakar Malami over a recent accusation.

The Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Mr. Abubakar Malami (SAN), has in strong terms condemned the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission for attributing the leakage of the anti-corruption agency’s list of high profile cases to his office, Punch has reported.

This was made public in a statement issued by his Special Adviser, Media and Publicity, Mr. Salihu Isah, expressed what he termed his “displeasure over the unfortunate and unbecoming innuendo” by EFCC attributing the leakage to his office.

It would be recalled that Punch published names of some high profile people contained in list said to contain 106 names, but the EFCC denied the story. He questioned the basis for the EFCC’s indirect attribution of the leakage of the list to his office while denying that the CJN was not being investigated by the anti-corruption agency.

He questioned how his office could have released a document containing a non-existent fact.

The statement read in part, “The attention of the Honourable Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, SAN has been drawn to a report in the media space insinuating that the Honourable Chief Justice of Nigeria, Hon. Justice Walter Samuel Nkanu Onnoghen, GCON and other former and serving government and judicial officers are under investigation for alleged corruption.

“The report also listed other high-profile Nigerians who it claimed are purportedly under investigation for corruption to include former Coordinating Minister for the Economy and Minister of Finance under ex-President Goodluck Jonathan, Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, present Minister of Solid Minerals Development and former Governor of Ekiti State, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, a sitting judge of the Federal High Court, Hon. Justice Abdu Kafarati, among others.

“The Honourable Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice wishes to express his displeasure over the unfortunate and unbecoming innuendo by certain persons and agencies which sought to accuse his office of leaking what was termed as classified information to the public.

“This office, therefore, wish to state categorically, but with absolute repudiation, that it did not at any time leak such information to the media as wrongly alluded by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission.

“The pertinent question to ask is since the EFCC has publicly denied that the Honourable Chief Justice of Nigeria is not under probe or investigation; is it then possible for the same EFCC to have forwarded any classified information on a non-existent probe or investigation of the Honourable CJN to the Honourable Attorney General of the Federation?

“It also goes to show that the Office of the Honourable Attorney General of the Federation could not have leaked a non-existent classified information on an equally non-existent probe or investigation.”

The AGF noted that the EFCC’s attribution of the leakage to his office was an “unsavoury attempt” to drag his office into a “petty squabble” with the CJN, as he was not aware of any ongoing probe of the nation’s topmost judicial officer.

The statement also read, “The Honourable Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice strongly frowns at any unsavoury attempt or conspiracy to drag his office and that of the Honourable Chief Justice of Nigeria into petty squabbles in the midst of burning national issues.

“We, therefore, use this opportunity to reaffirm our deep respect for the distinguished person and office of the Honourable Chief Justice of Nigeria, and we will never be party to any unpatriotic effort to denigrate his exalted office. We wish to state unequivocally that the office of the Honourable Attorney General of the Federation will continue to collaborate with His Lordship in his efforts to reform the judiciary and galvanize the anti-graft war. Indeed the present administration appreciates His Lordship for his unwavering support for its anti-corruption drive.

“We wish to state further that we are neither aware of nor privy to any purported probe or ongoing investigation of the Honourable Chief Justice of Nigeria by any security or anti-graft agency.

“The office of the Honourable Attorney General of the Federation dissociates itself from the baseless allusion or suggestion obviously made in bad faith to the effect that His Lordship is under any form of probe or investigation whatsoever.

“In view of the above, the Honourable Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice wishes to emphatically reiterate that he has profound confidence in the Chief Justice of Nigeria and wishes His Lordship the very best in the discharge or performance of his daunting duties to the nation at large.”

PoliticsAtiku Abubakar's Aide Reacts To Aisha Alhassan's Comment On Buhari, APC, 2019 by lightblazingnow(op): 3:53pm On Sep 09, 2017
Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has said the comments by Minister of Women Affairs, Aisha Jumai Alhassan, concerning President Muhammadu Buhari, “couldn’t have been said any better”.

Atiku declared that the All Progressives Congress (APC) is a coalition and that appointees have the right to keep their allegiance with whosoever they please.

Atiku, recently elevated to the Waziri of Adamawa, disclosed that even other Ministers in the cabinet have different views and opinions as regard the 2019 presidential election.

Paul Ibe, his media adviser, on Saturday insisted that what Mama Taraba said is, “the truth”.

Alhassan recently declared her support for Abubakar to emerge as Nigeria’s next president.

“And again, Baba Buhari did not tell us that he is going to run in 2019,” she said.

“Let me tell you today that if Baba said he is going to contest in 2019, I swear to Allah, I will go before him and kneel and tell him that ‘Baba I am grateful for the opportunity you gave me to serve your government as a minister.

“But Baba just like you know I will support only Atiku because he is my godfather. If Atiku said he is going to contest.”

In a chat with DAILY POST in Abuja, Ibe said, “There’s really nothing to say. It’s like stating the obvious”.

“The Minister couldn’t have said it any better, likewise we can’t help say it any better.

“In fact, she spoke the minds of many Nigerians and don’t forget that everyone has a right of association.

“Even then president is aware of the Minister’s support for former VP Atiku; they (APC) know.

“So it should not surprise anybody because it is not a secret that the Minister has been behind us.

“Let me tell you, in the federal cabinet, other ministers have their views; they have people they support.

“People forget APC is coalition and when people from different background unite, you cannot expect stakeholders to forget their root.

“What the Minister did was an act of courage and we thank and commend her. We advise those who share similar opinion to also speak out.”

2019 Elections: APC Chairman, John Oyegun Reveals When Buhari will Announce His Decision
tori.ng

Chief John Odigie-Oyegun, the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, has said President Muhammadu Buhari will disclose his decision on a second term in office at the appropriate time.

Following the controversy over the Minister of Women Affairs, Senator Aisha Alhassan to support Atiku Abubakar against President Muhammadu Buhari in any presidential duel, as she pledged her loyalty to the President, the APC chairman has reacted.

National Chairman of the APC, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun, has said at the appropriate time, President Buhari will disclose his intention towards a second term.

Chief Odigie-Oyegun, who spoke to newsmen, yesterday, in Benin City, said one of the greatest achievements of the Buhari-led administration was bringing Nigeria out of recession as recently declared by the National Bureau of Statistics, NBS, asserting that more progress would be made before the 2019 presidential election.

He said: “The decision, whether our President will run for a second term, is a decision only President Buhari can make, and he will make it at the proper time.

"For now, he still has nearly two years of painful, strenuous reconstruction of the Nigerian economy and all the other promises he made both in anti-corruption and on security is still serious work in progress.

“At the proper time, he will decide, and at the proper time, the APC will decide and the public will know.”

On the threat by the opposition Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, to reclaim power from the APC in 2019, Chief Oyegun asserted: “They are allowed to continue on their dreams, they are just coming out from intensive care unit. So they need a lot of nurturing, so this is good for their ego.”

africanspotlight.com

Ekiti State Governor, Mr. Ayodele Fayose, has said that his deputy, Prof. Kolapo Olusola, emerged as the candidate for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2018 governorship election through God’s direction.

He described the endorsement by stakeholders in Ekiti State PDP as a landmark decision which will be of immense benefit to the state in the immediate future.

The governor made the remark at a training session organised for members of the party at the Government House Pavilion, Ado-Ekiti on Wednesday.

Mr. Fayose who said the stakeholders' decision was in line with God's leading urged party members to remain united adding that Prof. Olusola will soon begin a wide consultation with party members and Ekiti people in general so as to earn their confidence.

"I took the decision in line with God's leading, Prof. Kolapo will be the next governor of Ekiti State, if this is the decision of God, it shall stand! The battle has just begun but we have to take a decision. There is a battle ahead but we'll be victorious.

"I have people that are closer to me than Kolapo but that is God's direction and to other aspirants, this is not the end of the world, in unity, we'll have a better Ekiti", Mr. Fayose said.
