CapedBaldy: Hi everyone! I've been teaching myself how to code for some months now. So far, I've been able to learn HTML, CSS and JavaScript. My goal is to become a Full stack developer.
I've built several projects and I also created an account on Upwork to get some jobs. Upwork hasn't been very encouraging though. I've been there for months and I haven't been able to land any jobs. I'm also combining all these with my studies at university.
What I want to know right now, is, what kind I do right now to be able to make some money and also gain experience as a junior developer. I'm also close to learning a JavaScript framework so i can be more employable.
Please tell me how you were able to develop your skills and your career. I really need some guidance so i can make the right choices.
Lalami3232: As a web, mobile and desktop developer, I can say it has to do with your bargaining power. Some junior developers are paid as low as 80K while others are paid up to 250K. But don't ever settle for a job less than 150K as a junior developer, don't try it. But the truth be say, junior developers get grade sha, make we no lie. Some wey dey claim to be junior developers are interns in disguise. I dey interview one guy online one day, he claim say he don get like 3yrs experience for JavaScript. My questions were: 1. What are the biggest and smallest numbers in JS? 2. What is true+1+"1"+1? The guy flop anyhow without any hint but I no dey access person with algorithm test sha. But that aside, the minimum salary of a junior developer should be 150K, but it has to do with ur bargaining power.

Senior Pastor of House on The Rock Church, Pastor Paul Adefarasin has apologized to the Lagos State government after youths booed Sanwo-Olu’s representative at The Experience on Friday night
Sanwo-Olu’s representative was booed on stage while giving his speech after he was introduced during ’The Experience’ held at the House on the Rock Cathedral, Lekki.
Adefarasin displeased with the crowd’s behavior, apologized to the Lagos State government, describing the attitude as unscriptural.
He cautioned youths to pray for leaders in order for peace to reign in the country.

Agboconsult1: My mum will advice us not to fear anybody. If they dey fight us we should fight back...luckily nobody bullied me or my siblings in school. The only recent event that happened is when a boy bullied my cousin sister. My cousin sister reported to my mum. The following day my mum caught the boy, gave him some warning and reported to his mum, if the school can't punish him, she would personally discipline the boy to stay off my cousin sister. Since that day enhancforth, they bully stopped.
tensazangetsu20: Honestly I really don't rate any data science fields. Even data analysis that is said to have a lot of jobs doesn't have any. I have advised some people to pick it up and after a couple of months of intense learning they are still struggling to get jobs. My very close friend got into debt struggling to learn data science and no job. It's not a field I will advise anyone to go into based on the experiences of people in the field around me but it's subjective. There's still a lot of successful data analyst and data scientists. I just haven't personally met any.

Rgade: It’s a challenge from frontend mentor. I feel like I haven’t been doing enough of frontend projects. I just assume I know all it takes to layout a web page using css, as I’ve been concentrating more on programming logic. I now want to start doing more of frontend end challenges cause i didn’t find it as easy as I thought.
Over the years, I have seen how under-represented the black community generally have been when it comes to anything tech in the western world. So far so good, I have worked in about 5 Fortune 500 companies and I have always been the only black/Nigerian software engineer on my team.
I thought deeply of a way to start changing that narrative by starting a catch them young bootcamp aimed at playfully introducing coding to young bright Nigerians for free over series of zoom classes. I see this as my way of giving back and growing budding talented young programmers out from Nigeria.
For your kids to participate :
1. Your child must be between 8-13 years old with interest in coding and computers. 2. Your child must have access to a computer and good internet connectivity as these classes will be hands on. 3. Your child must be available for an hour class every Saturday until the bootcamp is over. 4. You must ensure that all assignments are completed. 5. You must have access to zoom or Teams.

Mercychen: Here's an update of a teacher's brutality on my nephew.
My nephew woke up with dark swollen lips covered with bruises and was running serious temperature. So, My sister decided to go and report first to the school authority and to ask why they tried to cover the teacher up for such wicked act.
She went to the proprietress office and reported the case; telling her that she wanted to take it to the police but because of the respect she has for the owner of the school, that's why she's here to let the school know her next line of action. The prorietress was shocked to hear what happened and summoned the teacher.
When the teacher got there and was asked what happened, she said she didn't beat the boy that his tooth just fell off.
The grandma ( that's what they call the proprietress. She's 98) asked her, How will you not touch a child and his tooth will remove? The teacher insisted that she didn't touch the child. So grandma told her it's better she says the truth as the mother is planning to take the case to another level. That she should at least own up and apologize. The teacher said, my sister can take it to any level she wants that she doesn't care!
My sister said at that point her head sparked and she flared up! She began to mention the different agencies she has contacted, and that they are coming for the school. That she has posted it on social media and the news has spread all over.
She said the moment she mentioned social media, Grandma began to shake and call for help. As My sis continued shouting on top of her voice, grandma s daughter ( the supervisor ) and other teachers rushed into the office and tried to calm her down.
Grandma told the daughter that the story has gotten to social media and immediately, the daughter sank into the nearest chair and shouted "oh My God!
Grandma told the daughter that the teacher still has the guts to tell my sister to take it to any level and Immediately the daughter said " waaaat"? Do you know the school name is at stake here? Do you know they are going to shut down the school and arrest everybody? bla bla.. and everyone Started yelling at the teacher to apologize.
Grandma's daughter asked her for the last time. Did you beat him or not? She now said, ehn... She beat him on his back not his head. Grandma's daughter said, how can you beat a child on the back and his tooth fell off?. so, she told them to give her a few minutes. She went to my nephew's class, came back and asked the teacher why? That she just asked Georgewells classmates now what happened yesterday and they all said the teacher hit his head on the table and his tooth flew out and landed on another boys book.
Immediately she and other teachers began to beg my sister. Grandma was already crying that her school is in trouble. My sis said she became afraid for Grandma. Let the 98yrs old woman not go and give up. so she told Grandma not to worry that she won't involve the school, only the teacher.
They continued to beg my sister and told her to take the son to the hospital that the teacher will fute the bill from her Nov salary. That they'll deduct whatever the bill comes to from her salary before handing it to her. And my sister left.
That was how it all went yesterday.

The bad boy concept doesn't appeal to me personally because it involves inculcating alot of bad attitudes that do not depict the picture of a genuine gentleman.Yes, girls love bad boys which is very natural because they view them as alpha males and the female gender are naturally drawn to Alpha males .But the thing is some of our ladies here actually don't have sense because some of them have very poor orientations or terrible upbringing.Some women may have a physically abusive and highly cantakerous fathers and yet still grow up to start getting attracted to men who posses their father's traits. If a nice guy is actually smart ,no girl will take him for granted or even use him . There's nothing wrong in being a nice guy to ladies and I'm 100% certain there are still sensible girls out there .A nice guy can still get the girls he wants as long as he's not a simp . Everything is all about wisdom and understanding of the female gender.You can move from being her friend to being her boyfriend.I actually like getting to know a girl I'm attracted to for a while before I decide to start asking her out .This will make you know if you're compatible or not.You will get to know her more if you're just friends at first than if she sees you as a potential lover .I don't recommend being a bad boy because of pussy .Always stay true to your character and never be a simp .Trust me, you'll get those girls you want
