With the waves of turbulence betiding the fatherland, hope is not lost. We've found ourselves in a very tight point in the history of our country.

Back in those days, when there's an increment in means of livelihood, our parents will cry foul and I can still recall that song that says "erora jesu, nan ti gbowo lori". This literally says "control your libido, cost of nursing a child has increased".

It's the song of Kollington, Yoruba music maestro of that era and it's encouraging our parents then to follow a "planned Parenthood" to mitigate against hardship. By the way I'm not saying that is the way out of Nigeria's economic crisis.

Rather, as opportunity was in abundant and scarce to come by in those days, (austerity measure era of 80s) the same applies today. People cried to the government. Opportunity will always be scarce and always be abundant.

Now let's go back to the Bible era, you don't need to be a Christian, just think as a learned person. That old book declared that "money failed". Now, what book beyond 500 years ever said such a thing?

Money had always failed.

Your best advice can't go to the government and scape through, then come back to you as blessing to your family like Joseph. That is, the best government policy never promised you a break. The bread is not for the wise.

Money will fail at long run, don't use it as your storage of wealth. I have for example never lived hoping to get anything from the government, and it has never by chance got to me. Did palliative get to you?

The truth is, your family's economic security will come from your being productive. Let being productive be your storage facility for wealth. Then transfer the knowledge to the next generation. Let them improve on it.

Now just by doing that, every government in power will favour you, (at least 70% of the time) and if you always advance your course, you will survive every economic tsunami. Now how does that help a country?

In the past booms, people who claimed they were "enjoying life" were mostly average income earners and middle class, many have become poor and very few amongst them, successful.

What led to the differential changes?

Economic choices. The Middle class that wanted more of the goodies laboured for more goodies, while the set that quest for more "secured wealth creation instruments" survived as money fails.

Don't wait for government, you can't advise the government, but you can advise yourself. If not, you will always hope for military take over and after the dust settles, you start missing the civilians blaming the military.

Now on the national scale, you and I have not done enough and we are not ashamed of it. What trade have I learned all my life that is solving local problems and growing to become a source of inspiration to my children?

I am a replacement for my poor or middle class family background and their clerical jobs they have that they thought they have arrived because they were "working for the white man" (oyinbo lonba sise).

Does that translates to success?

We inherited dysfunctional family economic culture that is built on salary-based economy and scanty productivity and manufacturing from other developed countries that's a force to be reckoned with in our subregion. As money fails, we groan.

The solution is, let's cry less, what have you contributed to making your country great? Your vote is not enough, go back to the trade of your family. If we all start looking in this direction, our economic revival will start.

That's the tough choice ahead of everyone of us, and if this is difficult to make, how much harder would trying to put a moribund economy on the path of progress in spate of 4 years? It's not about money, money on it's own without productivity will fail.

I dedicate this long post to my mum, as she enrolled me in primary school, she also enrolled me in a welder shop to learn how to do wedding and construction at age 7. Yes I'm not a welder but the experience is mine.

Only an idiot would think a country suffering from revenue challenge would reduce the cost of a product which it has no influence over. My worry is that... My dreams always come to pass.
