You would recall that whilst responding to the lawsuit leveled against her, Tonto Dikeh dragged former lover, Prince Kpokpogri on her page exposing him of having in his possession sex tapes of dancer Jane Mena and many other married women, celebrities he also slept with. In a post Jane Mena’s husband made on social media shared by Instagram blogger , he stated that he does not care about Jane Mena’s past because everyone has a past and she surely regrets her mistakes but that does not prevent her from being an ideal woman for another man. Claiming ownership of Jane Mena, he said that his wife is his wife hence if you have ever slept with her or you know people who have slept with her, that is your problem. https://i0.wp.com/www.gistlover.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/09/Janemena-and-husband.jpg https://www.gistlover.com/if-you-ever-slept-with-my-wife-thats-your-problem-jane-menas-husband-replies-prince-kpopogri/ |
The Court of Appeal in Abuja has scheduled an application by Lagos State to be made a respondent in the appeal filed by the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) for ruling at 2 pm today. A cause list seen by DAILY POST at the Abuja division of the Court of Appeal indicated that a three-man panel of the court, led by Justice Hamma Tsanami, will deliver the ruling. The appeal by the FIRS is against the August 9, 2021 judgment by Justice Steven Pam of the Federal High Court in Port-Harcourt, Rivers State, voiding the Value Added Tax (VAT) Act and holding the states could collect VAT. A three-man panel, led by Justice Haruna Simon Tsanami, after listening to arguments by lawyers to parties on September 16, had said they would be informed when the ruling was ready. In arguing Lagos’ application, the state’s Attorney General, Moyosore Onigbanjo (SAN) said his client was a necessary party as it would be affected by the outcome of the case. Lawyer to Rivers State, Ifedayo Adedipe (SAN), agreed with Onigbanjo and urged the court to join Lagos, while lawyers to FIRS and the Attorney General of the Federation (AGF), Mahmud Magaji (SAN) and Tijani Gazali (SAN), argued otherwise and prayed the court not to join Lagos. https://dailypost.ng/2021/09/30/appeal-court-to-rule-on-vat-collection-dispute-2-pm-today/ |

The Minister of Works and Housing, Mr. Babatunde Fashola, yesterday said the ongoing 895 contracts and 795 infrastructural projects nationwide were part of President Muhammadu Buhari administration’s plan to lift 100 million Nigerians out of poverty. Speaking at the 27th meeting of the National Council on Works and Housing, taking place in Bauchi State, the minister argued that embarking on building massive infrastructure remained the quickest way to create wealth worldwide. He maintained that nations that are richer than Nigeria have more infrastructure than the country, stressing that in order to bridge the gap there must be deliberate investment plan. He said no nation would be able to grow bigger than its stock of infrastructure. “When President Buhari committed on June 12, 2019, to taking 100 million people out of poverty in 10 years, his vision was not a federal government vision, but a national one, which has started with the work being undertaken in all states and FCT and to which the federal government is contributing through infrastructure. “Currently, the federal government is executing 895 contracts in 795 projects spanning over 13,000 km of roads and bridges nationwide. “Across all of these, engineers, geologists, surveyors, lawyers, bankers, suppliers, artisans and labourers are involved in an ecosystem of enterprise from which they earn a daily, weekly or other periodic income. “But that is only part of the story, the employment. The other parts include improved asset value, because everywhere a new road or bridge is built, the land value appreciates by up to 30 per cent creating enormous capital gain,” he explained. Aside that, he noted tat on completion, journeys that used to take days would take only a few hours, positing that in the definition of poverty, well-being, efficiency and the lack of access, are critical factors. Speaking on the theme: “Infrastructure Delivery, the Maintenance Economy and National Prosperity,” Fashola noted that since the implementation of the Marshall plan in 1948, after the Second World War, it had become clear to any serious-minded economist or politician that infrastructure provision was critical to development. The minister stressed that with proper maintenance, the life of the infrastructure would be preserved, value for the money spent would be obtained, describing it as a critical contributor and driver of Gross Domestic Product (GDP) in many economies around the world. “Available data shows that in the ‘built industry’, only about 30 per cent of the manpower is employable by design and construction which lasts until the project is completed; while the remaining 70 per cent is employed in the process of operation and maintenance of the infrastructure,” he added. He posited that in nine facilities that were assessed by the ministry, the conditions of fittings such as fans, air conditioners, light fittings, toilets and wash hand basins, out of 41,800 installations, 12,459, representing 29.8 per cent was found not to be functioning. “Currently, we are undertaking maintenance works on 41 bridges that have employed 1,157 people directly and created 3,309 indirect jobs and we have facility management contracts for 25 federal secretariats across Nigeria after we completed renovation works. Each facility manager employs at least 40 people,” he added. Meanwhile, the minister has called on the people affected by the ongoing road construction project in Nasarawa and Benue states to embrace dialogue in resolving issues related to compensation rather than recourse to agitations. The former Lagos state governor, who made the call during his inspection tour of the ongoing “dualisation” of the 221 kilometres Keffi – Akwanga-Lafia – Makurdi Road, insisted that agitations do not solve problems. He said the federal government was closely working with the two states to resolve the issues, pointing out that efforts were being made to ensure that the real beneficiaries get the compensation and not middlemen. The minister explained that funding for the project was secured through a China EXIM loan, adding that the decision to borrow the fund for the project was taken before the administration of Buhari. “The decision to borrow this money was taken before our administration. So we just completed the process that had been started, a process that we own because this is money borrowed for investment to improve people’s lives,” he said. The minister who was later joined by the Governor of Nasarawa State, Mr. Abdullahi Sule, also inspected the National Housing Programme (NHP) and Federal Secretariat Complex in the state capital, Lafia. https://www.thisdaylive.com/index.php/2021/09/24/fashola-fgs-795-ongoing-projects-will-lift-millions-out-of-poverty/ |
The Attorney General of the Federation (AGF) and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami on Thursday revealed that the Federal Government has succeeded in identifying and detaining the Boko Haram Sponsors in Nigeria. Malami made this known while speaking with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in New York City. Recall that Malami had in May announced that the Nigerian government was about to begin the prosecution of about 400 suspected Boko Haram sponsors and was profiling some high-profile Nigerians strongly suspected to be financing terrorism for prosecution. The delay in their prosecution and unveiling of the suspects have, however, been criticised in certain quarters, but Malami assured the Federal Government was determined to take stringent measures to counter insurgency in the country. Speaking with the newsmen on Thursday, Malami assured the Buhari administration was determined to take stringent measures to counter-insurgency. “We have succeeded in identifying those that are responsible for funding terrorists. We have blocked the leakages associated with the funding and embarking on an aggressive investigation that is indeed impacting positively in terms of the fight against terrorism. “Investigation is ongoing and for the purpose of investigation, I wouldn’t like to be pre-emptive in terms of making disclosures that would have the effect of undermining the successes we are recording. “One thing I can tell you for sure is that whatever we do in terms of detention and in terms of arrest is indeed backed by judicial process. “We have indeed obtained a legitimate court order taking into consideration what we have presented before the court; the court eventually exercised its discretion in terms of granting orders that we can have them in custody,” he said. https://independent.ng/boko-haram-sponsors-have-been-identified-detained-malami-reveals/ |

The Lagos State Ministry of Education has debunked a social media report alleging that the State Government will, from next academic session, enforce the entry age of 12 years for pupils seeking admission into Junior Secondary School (JSS1) in a bid to deter underage registration. A statement signed by the Commissioner for Education, Mrs. Folasade Adefisayo, noted that the unsigned and undated document about the age limit for Junior Secondary School entrants had earlier been denounced in Y2020 when it was first circulated. The Commissioner maintained that such statement was never issued by the State Government, stressing that what was wrongly published and circulated was not a policy statement, but an internal memorandum containing suggestions and a summary of discussions that was drafted after a consultative meeting. She explained that the said meeting was held with relevant stakeholders in the Education Sector in Y2020 on how to implement the National Policy on Education in the State, which was clearly stated in a press release issued by the Ministry in April, 2020. Describing the perpetrators of the social media report as saboteurs, Mrs. Adefisayo urged the general public to ignore the viral statement and rest assured that the Ministry will always involve stakeholders in policy decisions and implementation. https://lagosstate.gov.ng/blog/2021/09/18/entry-age-limit-lagos-debunks-viral-report-on-social-media/ |

A former Governor of Ogun State, Gbenga Daniel has expressed his interest to run for Senate in the 2023 elections. Daniel who dumped the Peoples Democratic Party for the All Progressives Congress in February confirmed on Friday that he would contest for Ogun East Senatorial poll in 2023. The former Governor while speaking at a gathering in Sagamu on Friday said he has been under pressure to run for “national offices in 2023.” He stated this at the Continuous Political Education Programme of POLA with the Theme, “Understanding Democracy, Quality Representation and Political Management.” Daniel also lamented about the poor representation at the National Assembly, especially from the South West. He said, “I have read the news and watched videos from diverse groups and individuals who have been calling on me to run for some National offices in 2023; while this is neither the time nor the occasion to react to such clamour, I agree mostly with their reasons. “The position that only those with the required capacity should be allowed to make laws and sanction policies that affect the lives of the citizens cannot be over-emphasised not just in Ogun State but the entire country. “The National Assembly plays a vital role in our democracy and requires the best of vibrant intellectuals our nation has to offer. “Laws made must be in tandem with the goals to create a better society for the people, one not just rooted in the ideals of good governance, but forged with the mindset of the advancement of the present inventions and future innovations.” https://www./2021/09/18/gbenga-daniel-speaks-on-contesting-for-senate/ |
