Wealthy home Kids: Should Pay 100% of Fees
Middle class kids: should pay 30-50% of Fees
Low income kids: should pay 10% of Fees

Every year we have about 3,000 kids thronging babcock willing to pay 1.2 million as fees. If we add ppl çoming from OSU, then the difference in their own fees would be paid by the state govt.

The "State university system" is not working because the private sector is not interested in investing in them. Instead the govt should approach and collaborate with private universities. For example rather than have Ondo State Uni(AAUA), why not give a third of annual allocation meant for AAUA to Elizade while merging AAUA campus as an extension of Elizade, so Elizade would absorb a third of AAUA students. The extra fund from Ondo would help Elizade keep down fees significantly while ensuring govt is no longer burdened with investment in physical infrastructure, unions and all other shenanigans that come with public universities. If the state governments are consistent on their own part then the model will work because there would be a larger pool of resources which includes Elizade's proprietors, State govt and a moderate tuition

In this model state govts can adopt three private universities with proven financial sustainability records and co-fund them alongside their proprietors in exchange for increased enrollment(50% indigenes, 50% others) and lower fees not exceeding 200,000.00 for courses with exception of medicine and surgery. NB: Northern states should not use this model.


USA for instance spends 4%(last i checked) of total budget on education(less than Nigeria). But you would be mistakened to equate that with a poor university system because they significantly share the burden with the private sector. The US federal govt has no university (except military academies) but give grants to Harvard and Standford.
Now compare the US system to that of public universities in UK who went on strike some months ago or Australian public universities which have been crying against cuts in funding.

Public universities i suggest should be left for small nations where population increase is little. E.g Nordic nations, rwanda etc.

The unfortunate thing is that there hasn't been any real and meaningful development in Nigeria since the days of pa Awolowo as Premier of Western region.

All these elephant projects embarked upon are self serving to make people say they are working and not what the populace needs.

Lagos can not operate its own power plant? I heard the Fg has granted concession to state to generate power.

Lagos can not provide potable water supply to households.


What stops Lagos government from borrowing money and putting up a metro or subway rail system that connects all parts of Lagos like Dubai instead of building redundant busstops that nobody will use.

There are some inland water bodies that could be used as transportation system.


Our leaders only think of today not tomorrow. The European or American will think of 50years ahead while developing atheir cities.
