Buharis subsidy payments as at 22/23 was about 3.4 trillion annually which was borrowed money,not money Nigeria had "borrowed" .......you were borrowing money to enter bus to work daily but you stopped borrowing because you now had a motor cycle,will that money you were spending on transport remain in ur pocket? The answer is no......our budget for 26 alone is 68tr so whats 3.4tr in that figure?

Where did tinubu give tompolo 17tr,you people just conjure figures out of thing air......tompolo's security contract as lef to an increase in oil production even exceeding open quota from 1.2mbpd tinubu met it to 1.7mbpd it is today,quantify that revenues leap to how much we were loosing under buhari.

To boost much needed investment in the the oil and gas sector the govt needed those fiscal measures to boost revenues and remember its nigerians that will work in these places.

Its also wrong for the rich to be buying subsidised dollars at 800,thats why govt also stopped that subsidy, buy ur dollar at the market rate,it has eliminated arbitrage and govt losses on those subsidies

The cost is more than 4 times the cost of black market price those days for fuel and slightly higher than that of the black market price of the usd then for dollars, meaning that the government of Tinubu has taken over the black market business in Nigeria to raise more money at the detriment of the masses and still borrow for his political survival.

What is take out of this is that he spent just about 1.1% of the minimum wage in Canada on a plate of rice while same plate can be gotten for 1,500 here in Nigeria which is about 2% of the minimum wage here.

Canada next door neighbour is one of the biggest producer of rice in the world,while it has to be shipped from thousands of miles before ot gets to Nigeria, add tariffs plus margins and operating cost for the food sellers.......means we aren't doing too badly on food prices in Nigeria.

Buhari started 2022 with $40.52b but closed at $37.09 b with inflation already at 18.8% from 8% in 2014.

Your fx reserves as at today is about $52b and you do not see tinubu govt Deeping their hands in there at least not yet......you are now getting the usd at its true value without having to keep borrowing to defend the naira.

You now have lesser demand for the dollar because it isn't subsidised anymore.

Nigeria's problem is corruption and wastage. Until these two are fought, nothing will work. The subsidy was only a problem becus of corruption. So, Nigeria needs to focus on fighting corruption. Corruption in Nigeria is too massive. People loot for free. Then the entire system is bad because governors loot and the sitting president cant do anything, he needs them to win election for him
So, the stuff starts with fixing electoral system, fighting corruption and wastage. Imagine budgeting 15billion for 39 SUV. A poor country living large is very funny.
