See how his body was properly covered, if it was Nigeria they would have splattered the gory pictures online, put it on Nairaland frontpage with a tag of Graphic Picture. Very barbaric and inappropriate.

Lalasticlala, Seun - I think this is something that needs to be addressed.
Hiah, so you still found a way to involve Nigeria in an abusive way? And, here, i was thinking, ‘now let me see how Niaralanders will wriggle out of the fact that this terrible crime took place in their beloved America where they always advice everybody in Nigeria to run go to escape Nigeria'. angry

Should I laugh at how funny this news is or should I weep for my country?
Or, praise the police, be happy for the soldiers rescued and be hopeful for an embattled nation whose police force training may offer lessons.

Anyway, the facts have been embellished, and generally, Nigerians should doubt majority of news about Nigeria because most are lies...

Even cheaper, reinforced railings, higher than in the pic below, will cause road “Bandits” some difficulties and deprive them the joy of the easy life, darting in and out like breeze, especially if they have vehicles.

But I guess it’s a ludicrous notion in an environment where building poor roads is a profit making industry. Railed roads demand well-built roads…
Christianity EtcRe: Sanctions Must Be Placed On Nigeria After Christian Persecution - UK Group by Litmus:
Apart from the fact that none of this makes any sense, these types of news are usually false. Nevertheless, and ironically, the senselessness of this article, far from justifying why any of us should dismiss it as evidence of fakery, indicates why those inclined may take it seriously should they wish. This is why: it may be helpful for some Nigerians to understand that the West does not actually care about Christians let alone black ones. If there is talk or plot afoot by the Uk to sanction Nigeria, Nigeria should be aware that this is unlikely over any form of Christian persecutions in Nigeria even if such exists and more likely a justification mechanism for some other grievance or grudge bearing for Nigerians by individuals of influence within the UK government. For instance, a case for sanction against India over the persecution of Muslims (possibly more justified) could be made by the Uk government except that the Uk cabinet does not include Nigerians that begrudge Indians. wink Not that, in reality, anyone or event is powerful or grievous enough to ever sway the British hand against India.

Nigeria needs Nigerians in positions in as many world bodies and organisations as possible to watch or fight for Nigeria’s interests for Nigeria has many enemies.

Is Nigeria Country Of Morons Imbeciles Idiots Or All Of Above?
None of the above, Nigeria is a Country of democrats and this is your difficulty. For every politician or institution you call demonic or rotten respectively, as many believe the opposite. It then makes you arrogant, ignorant or stupid to seem as if you're the type to condemn any that does not view things as you do. Another example, when Jonathan was in power, many believed him good or doing the best under difficult circumstance but just as many thought that he was demonic and corrupt and they invented the term shithole to describe Nigeria just because they didn’t support him or his party. For every like you that come online to say the most despicable thing about Nigeria and her people under Buhari, as many did the same when Jonathan was in power.

You all, if you are Nigerians and not paid foreign trolls, should moderate the things you say as members or supporters of opposition

Give everyone in Nigeria a job, a house and a car and the war in the NE will continue. And those that feed you the poverty excuse will point to poverty in the Sahel region, then Africa and then a return to the “Corruption” trope.

The current security condition in the country is worse than any other time in the last few decades. It is the government's responsibility to ensure the safety of lives and properties, and the government is failing at that, but is the failure of the government the only factor responsible? Absolutely not, I support the sacking of Buratai but the truth is that the situation will remain largely the same or even worse than before no matter who the next COAS is, even if we had the whole arsenal of the United States military to use, these terrorists will just devise new methods to achieve their goals. The situation we are in today is as a result of our economic and social problems. Many youths today believe that the only solution to their problems are crimes and violence, many don't value human lives and covet properties that are not theirs. We expect the government to do every damn thing for us while we sit down to enjoy the fruit of the labor of the government. We only discuss security problems here because it is a security thread but the truth is that there is problem in every aspect of the life of an average Nigerian citizen. The government already borrows far more than it can generate so that it can at least alleviate some of our problems yet we want them to find more money to keep spending. How many of us here pay taxes(especially income tax) yet we receive a lot of benefits from the government in the firm of services and subsidies on goods we consume individually like drugs, food and oil. The government pays #40 on every litre of fuel you use, that might be inconsequential to you but sum up that amount on the average 60 million litres we use in Nigeria everyday and multiply it by 30 days to know what it will amount to every month. Thats 72 billion every month, imagine the number of MRAPs that will buy for troops on the Frontline to save more lives. Americans pay tens of thousands of dollars every year for the duration of their courses to be able to get a college/university degree and many use the greater part of their career years paying "students loan" yet many people not contributing a single naira to the federation account enjoy the same benefit virtually free of charge(howbeit of a lower standard but almost the same value in the labor market) imagine the amount the government will save and will be able to spend on security and infrastructure development if all universities, colleges, hospitals and other governmental institutions are self sufficient like they are in most developed countries.
The most unstable region in the country refused to develop their youths for several decades yet except the government to perform miracles to help them achieve the results of the regions that invested in human development. Was it the government that forced them not to train and educate their youths?. It is so bad that educational bodies uses different standards of measurement for each region under guise of "Educationally disadvantaged states". All those youths they refused to train, what do they expect of them. We all know the story of some other people in another region who under the guise of "amnesty" receive monthly salary for doing absolutely nothing. What do you think will happen when government stops paying them?.
You all should ask people in the western world you so much look up to how hard life is for them too in the essence that they work very hard to get little and must contribute to the finances of the government from the very little they gain from, yet you want the same development as theirs.

My point is that the insecurity problem is a ripple effect of so many other problems caused by every single one of us and people(soldiers, terrorists, bandits, and innocents) will keep dying for several decades to come unless we all start thinking and finding solutions to our problems individually. We've got several things wrong and we haven't even realized that, until we realize that we have no one to blame but ourselves for whatever happened to us and around us, we are going nowhere. That is why the few who can think to some extent are leaving our societies and country so that they could leave with people who are more serious with their lives.
Terrorism in Nigeria is not caused by poverty in Nigeria. I cut straight to this point because it’s where your argument will lead.

They are the same, they are in every region constructing substandard roads and buildings, bringing hardship and suffering.

Not that they lack the money to construct standard and world class road (Umahi of Ebonyi) but wickedness and evil wishes is all they bring to the people

Spits on some Nigerian politicians.
I doubt they are Evil; they are more likely ignorant about governance because they are not in office to govern. For some, just becoming governors was the aim and the bad part of the job, which they knew would come, is the part about actually governing. In a sense, for too many of these people, serving the people’s needs is the occupational hazard of the job. They don’t know what to do just like many people wouldn’t know what to do if put in a chair behind a desk in the government building.

I write from experience, which is why I have ceaselessly advocated that Nigeria create institutions that teach governance and awards certificate. No one should run for office of state without earning this certificate i.e. having this certificate becomes one of the qualifying criteria for participating as a candidate for political office in Nigeria just as age and nationality are requisites.

In spite of the dirty nature of the race to become governor, that candidates actually had to have attended an institute of governance to qualify them to take part in gubernatorial battle sort of already dedicated them by default in spite of themselves.

I would not need lenses, even if i was half-blind, to see that all over Nigeria high-rise building and tight flats are springing up. I am not convinced that limited land is the reason over lack of imagination, governors wanting to impress their mostly unsophisticated constituents and greedy real-estate developers.

It’s a pity US movies and images of Europe has brainwashed too many Nigerians into seeing high-rise buildings as evidence of sophistication and development when in reality they are in Europe and America mostly for the housing of the poor underclass. High-rise are ghetto icons.Young Africa with the clean slate of being young should be adventurous with architecture and setting the standard for the new millennia instead of obsessed with old Europe and old West tired forms of building that the West would dearly be shot of were cost for uprooting their established infrastructure not too prohibitive.

MIT engineers use 'artificial atoms' to make the world's largest quantum chip of its kind
https://www.independent.co.uk/life-style/gadgets-and-tech/news/artificial-atoms-mit-engineers-worlds-largest-quantum-chip-a9608331.html

Researchers at MIT have developed a way to manufacturer “artificial atoms” to produce what they claim is the world’s largest quantum chip of its kind.
The atoms have been created in microscopically thin slices of diamond. The accomplishment “marks a turning point” in the field of quantum processors, said Dirk Englund, associate professor at MIT's Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, in a statement.Standard computers, and processors, use ‘bits’ in their chips. These can be in binary positions – either on, or off.

Apps, websites, and computer programmes are made up of information coded in this way. A one signifies the on position, while a zero signifies the off position. This is the language that makes up binary. However, in recent years, engineers have made strides with quantum computers, which represent an entirely new way of understanding such systems. On this small scale, physicists have observed strange effects where particles can exist along a spectrum between ‘on’ and ‘off’. As such, quantum computers use ‘qubits’ rather than bits. These can both be on and off simultaneously, or somewhere in between. A useful parallel is a maze; a standard computer would attempt to complete it by trying every route, one after another. A quantum computer would be able to try all attempts at once.
“In the past 20 years of quantum engineering, it has been the ultimate vision to manufacture such artificial qubit systems at volumes comparable to integrated electronics,” Englund says.

Although there has been distinct progress in this field, quantum materials such as these are difficult to manufacture. The slightest contact between an atom exhibiting quantum behaviour and another atom will immediately shunt the atom out of its quantum state. That makes it easy to build quantum prototypes, but difficult to build whole computers. The artificial atoms in what Englund calls “quantum micro chiplets" consist of the colour centres in diamonds. These are defects in the diamond's carbon lattice where atoms are missing.

The vacant space is filled with other atoms, such as germanium and silicon. The artificial atoms emit the coloured particles of light to can carry the quantum information represented by the qubit. The challenge using this model, however, is building a platform that can scale upwards, to make chips with thousands and millions of qubits.
“Artificial atoms are in a solid crystal, and unwanted contamination can affect important quantum properties such as coherence times” explains Noel H. Wan, a MIT researcher who authored the paper alongside Englund, in a statement.
“Furthermore, variations within the crystal can cause the qubits to be different from one another, and that makes it difficult to scale these systems.”

As such, the researchers decided to take a hybrid approach, rather than make the entire chip out of diamond.Multiple chiplets are “wire[d]” into a larger chip, Wan explained, allowing the researchers to link 128 qubits together on one platform. The next step is to test the chip’s processing skills.
Quantum computers have already undertaken tasks that classical computers could not. A quantum computer used by Google claimed to be able to complete a task in 200 seconds which would have taken 10,000 years for a traditional computer to achieve.

IBM, Intel, and Microsoft are building similar machines. These could be used for a number of purposes, such as accommodating variables such as the weather and population spikes into city planning, to simulating the beginnings of the universe.
