I wouldn't be surprised if some of you shouting up and down that Nigeria happend to them, also criticised Nigeria when Lagos government sanctioned the demolition of buildings erected on water channel grounds. And shouted, let the poor breath!!, when various state governments demolish dangerous shanty dwellings.

Had the various state governments devised strict safety rules for the waterways, I bet many Nigerians on here shouting "Nigeria happened" would be first to condem the measures. They might make statements such as, 'did government first provide jobs or alternatives before clamping down on the livelihood of the poor?' and , ' how do these stupid leaders expect boat and canoe operators to buy lifejackets, when the dollar to Nigeria exchange rate is XYZ'

If government decided tomorrow to outlaw vehicles over ten years old as a measure against plunging over bridges and to outlaw ramshackle looking markets as a measure against fires, Nigerians would complain bitterly of elite abuse in the hope that America would hear.

A large percentage of us bare some responsibility in why Nigeria remains dangerously too free.

Mind you I like some of our freedoms but not overwhelming freedom.

Personally I'm all for no speed limits on certain roads in Nigeria. However while Lagos govt looks at limiting speeding on Lagos roads, they should also concern themselves with the safety of vehicles that pligh Lagos roads. When watching You Tube Videos on Lagos, especially those featuring the newly renovated bridge, too many vehicles look like deathtrap junks. I'm afraid many of the vehicles I've seen are so mechanically suspect they are quite capable of somersaulting or veering of the bridge and into the lagoon while traveling at 20 mph.

Lagos that is setting herself up as the standard model for all other states of the federation to emulate, should begin to limit the quality and age of vehicles allowed on her roads. The days of making allowances for the less financially able by, for instance, ignoring jalopies , should end. We need to move to the next level.

I'm a fan of this project and gladdened by the urgency until the later began intriguing me. I mean the Urgency. It occurred to me, drawing from my suspicions, that leaders of Nigeria always seem more concerned for the wellbeing of Africa than Nigerians. I began taking a closer interest and eventually it seemed as if those Oyibo people that control Africa from thire bases in organisation like the United Nations or and European Union dictated that Africa should construct a highway linking all Africa nations. And now I am wondering if the urgency of this Nigeria coastal highway project ( which has been sweeting me greatly) is really all about Nigeria completing our section of the trans Africa highway in fulfllment of obligation to our UN or European masters. undecided

In short, if the highway is about Nigeria and Nigerians or if it is really all about Africa and Africans.

If you are Nigerian get some sense and be deciplined. Begin to think long-term and collectively not just about your immediate gratification and personal gain. We have no excuse being ignorant of world history and our place in it as people of Africa heritage. We generally know why we are underdogs - 2 days ago I read that members of Nigeria's junior football team were denied visas to attend a tournament in Spain . Imagine the crass arrogance. Yet we bare some blame due to continually tolerating the rubbish dished to us by foreign scumbags because we generally own relatively less of the degeneracy valued by the world.

Nigerians should patronise Air Peace because it is Nigerian owned even setting aside knowledge of what the other airlines are up to financially and how, in living memory, they extorted Nigerians when they owned what we wanted and we had no other options.
CrimeRe: Officer Shot Dead As Police Foil Kidnap Of FCT Council Chair’s Family by Litmus:
Human rights need to caution Nigeria due to the way every section of Nigeria society maltreat the police. From Federal, State, civil society down to the everyday people, all abuse Nigeria police. I am fundamentally sad for the Nigeria police. Oh my god, treat these people with humanity. Army beat and kill them, people celebrate; they are dismissed from livelihood due to asking for bribe from aloof and spoilt-brat white people, Nigerians celebrate; they are butchered and eaten by protesters, people blame them for past actions; people slap them; they are killed by bandits no one cares , the state even frees the bandits. Agwu for you Nigerians. Everyday, they are killed by miscreants in the East, and massacred by numbnuts in the North East, they are underpaid by the state. People secretly film them taking bribe due to being underpaid and broadcast it all over social media. Nigerians abuse and make fun of them. Celebrities, politicians and wealthy people treat them like thire houseboys. They are probably the most harmless police in the world - if you really look deeply into it and compare thire actions and reactions to that of police in most part of the world - yet Nigerians paint them as though they are the most brutal. angry. Yet they lay down thire lives repeatedly for the ungrateful people of Nigeria.

Is there anywhere in the world where police are killed daily as it seems happens in Nigeria? If a day or two goes by without a death, by the weekend several are killed, making up for those deathless days.

Nigeria needs to consider automatic death penalty for anyone that kills the police man or woman.

Note China owns billions in US debt while Nigeria is indebted to China. Why can't China own Nigeria debt ? Sounds much sexier or more authoritative on behalf of the owing party. And the psychology of the phrasing means that, if you're not careful, you'd think that it is the Chinese owing money not the reverse.

Car TalkAbeg Leave Evs To The Rest Of The World You Africans Are Still Too Primitive by Litmus(op):
Nigerian market not mature for electric vehicles, say stakeholders.

Industry experts have cautioned against the early adoption of electric vehicles in Nigeria.

They said the obstacles include inadequate power supply, scarcity of certified EV technicians, limited charging infrastructure, and the need for specialised training to service various EV models.

“There are still lots of debates going on around this. Some big auto firms are building electric cars while some have not,” the Chief Executive Officer of Autogig International Resources Limited, Tope Ojo told The PUNCH.

“I had the opportunity to speak with a senior executive in the US and I asked him which area of investment Toyota is focusing on – EVs, internal combustion engines, or hydropowered vehicles.

“He just laughed and said they aren’t even sure of the future yet, but the development is just cutting across. They are increasing capacity for all segments. So, that tells you a lot.”

Ojo said to become EV-friendly for customers, Nigeria needs to address the challenges and provide charging infrastructure in all states.

He said, “The lithium you use to manufacture batteries for electric vehicles is mined somewhere, which is also causing some challenges. But for Nigeria’s auto market, it is not ready for EVs. We need to focus on our competitive advantage and not play second fiddle. There are factors to look at.”

The Nigerian government has shown commitment towards the development of electric vehicles and has proposed policies and plans to support the adoption and production of EVs.

Last year, the National Automotive Design and Development Council acquired locally-assembled electric vehicles with charging infrastructure from Nigerian Jet Motors.

The Electric Vehicle Development Plan has entered its final stage for ratification and implementation, which aims to position Nigeria as a leading country in EVs.

Ojo wondered, “How many certified EV technicians do we have in the country? If you want to work on BMW vehicles, for example, you need to be BMW EV certified. To work on Ford, you have to be Ford certified.”

Highlighting the industry’s lag in this area, he emphasised the abundance of natural resources like tin and lithium that need harnessing.

He stressed the importance of focusing on and mastering Nigeria’s competitive strengths for the betterment of the economy.

Several firms are developing electric vehicles in Nigeria. Some of the top electric vehicle startups and companies in Nigeria include TOUR Drive NG, VoltaEV, Hellobikee, Quadricycle Automobile, Trekk Scooters, and Possible Electric Vehicle Solution, etc.

Ojo remarked, ‘Whoever says he wants to develop EV will probably have buyers from somewhere else. But Nigeria is a funny market. I have seen a couple of Tesla vehicles here. Yes, there will be lots of campaigns several firms are developing and all that.’”

The exact number of electric vehicles in Nigeria is not readily available, but Stallion Motors said the company had only sold 120 units of Kona, (Nigeria’s first EV) since its launch in 2020.

After-sales expert at Rapida Mobility Solutions, Henry Eniediabasi, said Nigerians were ready to explore electric vehicles, provided that would reduce costs on maintenance and fuelling.

However, Eniediabasi noted that it was not yet ready for electric vehicles due to several challenges, including power supply issues and the lack of charging infrastructure.

“Currently, I believe it is not a market fit in our region due to the lack of available infrastructure, such as charging stations, and the unavailability of replacement parts.

“Those who choose to venture into this now may depend on the product owner to keep them on the road at all times, given the potential monopoly situation,” Eniediabasi asserted.
