agabusta:More like Custodian than owner. Govt owns only a part of all tribal ancestral lands, true. It effectively holds the rest in custody. Traditional owners are encouraged by the new Nigeria land law to register ownership of the largest part of thire land in custody of government, leaving a small part to government. The new land law (1978) was instituted as a means of documenting Nigeria's lands and also to mitigate some of the old exploitative practices that saw traditional owners of the land continually reselling lands they already sold to individuals and business. Currently, prospective land buyers can obtain C of O for government owned land or traditional officially owned land. Traditional owners do not own thire land until they register it with government ( it is a means of documenting and cataloguing). Government keeps a small portion of the land for itself. As a land buyer, you should do your due diligence before purchasing land even from traditional peoples that have officially owned thire land by registering it with government because they may deliberately or ignorantly sell you the bits of their traditional land government reserved for itself, see the bolded. Government generally leases the land it owns to buyers i.e leasehold. Traditional owners that have officially registered their ancestral land and therefore own it, can sell you land out right i.e it becomes yours and your family's indefinitely. |
I wonder what Nations would rank first on a list of top ten Nations with the most corrupt industries that place profit above human health leading to mass cancer and infertility? |
Rossikk:Indeed. Lists as weapon. We need lists of our own. |
Mrincredy:Best kept secret in Africa is that they all eventually end up in Nigeria, the nation that keeps no records. Five years later they Jappa as "Nigerians". They begin insulting Nigeria and calling for its break up and you , the true Nigerian, is left wondering how can people that are Nigerians abuse their nation so much. In the home front, we'r left wondering why banditory, including kidnapping, persists. Why the population is exploding..... |
donleo92:What of Northern Farmers, why aren't they receiving this community love. Why are they being left at the mercy of terrorists ? |
The Senegalese president shouldn't take praises from Nigerians too seriously. This is since praises from Nigerians lack currency for Nigerians tend to praise and hail anything and everything when that thing is not Nigerian. They are selfish praises for they are really about what we Nigerians didn't do. They are an excessise in self immolation. Nigerians even heaped praises on the Niger and Mali Coup d'état for the wrong reasons. |
Nigeria does not have insecurity issues. If Nigeria had insecurity issues, why would Nigeria have institutional buildings such as the one pictured when in places around the world that do not report insecurity issues, institutional buildings are often like urban versions of military fortresses? No institutional building should look like a village school teacher's home. Institutional buildings ought to be differentiable from civilian homes. One reason for this is that it has a psychological effect, it conditions how people respond to institutions. Basic security is built into the square shaped, flat roofed, high perimeter walls and interlinked chain fencing structure of institutional buildings even before security measures are added to serve the interest and purposes of specific tenants.

Scores of tertiary institution students travelling on the East-West road in Ughelli, Delta, have been kidnapped by suspected armed bandits.Evidence black men too often need stick not words. The saying goes Spare the rod and spoil the child. Well, a central tenet of the majority of Nigeria's ethnic cultures is the wielding of massive rods. At Abroad, Nigeria parents are loosing their children to Social Services due to smacking them. Before Nigerians entered the Abroad space in meaningful numbers, West Indians were there. In the early day, West Indians also never spared the rod. Unfortunately, useless white people with thire know-it-all selves systematically devastated the West Indian community by interfering with the West Indians cultural ways of which rods played a central role. As most people know, culture is learned behaviour, it is a people's blueprint for surviving in the world acquired over thousands of years. By interfering in how West Indians raised thire kids, Oyibo insured that the West Indian community gradually became less cohesive, leading to all the ills rightly or wrongly associated with West Indians today and which Nigerians label Akatta behaviour. The above is my long-winded way of suggesting that perhaps Nigeria the Nation is sparing the combustible Rod and knotable Rope of state, which is why numbskulls are persisting in kidnapping. |
lagosrd:True. This is the worst aspect of Nigeria's Opposition Politics culture. |
Nigeria needs to keep records of heritages like these soups. Every tribe in Nigeria should catalogue her foods, parables, fables, dances, songs etc. Apart from ensuring that Ghana does not steal them , owning your information in the AI age is a real goldmine. It is not for nothing that Synthetic Data has become a trending phrase. Those developing AI use LLMs. These LLMs are essentially proprietary information used to feed (train ) thire systems and Ai companies are consistently facing copyright issues. Synthetic Data, therefore original information created by AI, are AI developers hope. But Synthetic Data is at an infancy , they are little evolved from concept stage. This means that AI developers still need to exploit proprietary information. Nations like Nigeria were heritage information is not catalogued and therefore not owned will be vulnerable to exploitation by external forces. Our unprotected heritage information spaces will provide rich grounds for AI developers to appropriate for free. |
Traditional attire would be nicer. |
If you're a Nigerian currently in Nigeria plotting Jappa or you're a Nigerian already Jappad and your situation as a Jappanese abroad is currently uncertain, heed the following information: All Western Nations know Nigeria better than you do. Don't be lolled into a false sense of security, believing that those people online who endlessly slander Nigeria are successfully painting an image of Nigeria that inform Western nations view of Nigeria. Leaders of Western Nations know Nigeria more intimately than majority of Nigerians do, including Simon Ipka and Wole Soyinka. If some Western nation decides to support some rebel group in Nigeria that claim they are fighting for one form of Just Course or another, they do so only willfully persuaded by said rebel group. In order words, the Western nation does so for ulterior motives not because they are persuaded by the Rebel group's "truths". ...also, Nigeria is more connected and accessible to the outside world than you probably believe. Nigeria isn't as remote as you may believe due to watching YouTubers talking down Nigeria. This means that even if you tell the immigration of a Western nation that people in your remote, unfathomably named Village, will kill you if you are sent back, the Western nation will find out the truth. They'll send an official to your village in certain circumstances. |
cashcpt:America may brake up first, you never know. |
Jokay07:Unconventional thinking that wasn't from me, I'm envious. ![]() |
Please try to be reflective or and objective before concluding on this Nigeria Nurse, informed by what you've read or believe you've understood. The UK legal system can be frankly quite whacky. I may even venture to say that UK law is in many ways evil and corrupt. This could account for why the UK establishment is keen to withdraw the country from past European Human Rights commitments. |
Beautiful. Clean and tidy environment is full of hope. |
Given that authorities avoid using technology, it might be necessary for every police station in insecure areas of Nigeria to have perimeter walls and a manned watchtower with a sniper. Let's not deny the significant problem in certain parts of Nigeria that warrants a fortified infrastructure response. ChatGbt rewrite. |
RecentHistory:I don't get Delta State. Seems to me that Delta state revenue allocation is such that the state wouldn't be worst without government. |
CountinBlessins:People from a working class background, especially if that existence was particularly depraved, often look on those that are generous with suspicion and believe them stupid. |
CountinBlessins:Deltans are among the smartest people I've met and I'm not limiting this to Africans. They can be extremely kind and giving, perhaps you're confusing this for stupidity. |
A UN report once warned that people of Neighbouring nations that are way more into bushmeat than Nigerians, were depleting thire stock of animals and were beginning to stray into Nigeria to exploit the relatively untouched Nigeria fauna. I was relatively young at the time of the news - I believe this was during the dying period of HIV aids news hysteria and the beginning of Ebola hysteria. During this period, news questioning why so many deadly viruses were originating out of Africa was as if a background white noise refrain. Hypothesis raged back and forth between Africans that identified the presence of US germ warfare research facilities in Congo as probable cause versus Westerners citing the depleting of Africa's rainforest as probable cause. Much of the debate began settling on the Bush Meat trade as cause. Anyway, it was during this period that warning arose that the bush meat trade was gradually moving into Nigeria as Cameroonians and Ivorians depleted thire fauna. Nigeria needs to protect her wildlife. |

SaLongs1:Medievalisation of the state or nation is precisely the aim of militant Islamists such as Bokoharam. The more dysfunctional the state or nation, the better. To the authorities behind these movements, Islam is incompatible with the modern circular state as evolved by the European powers since the French revolution. Modernity threatens the power of the religion's grip over the people. Sharia is ultimately the petulant response by contemporary World Imams to Western philosophical and political hegemony over Arabic civilization. It will tolerate devouts behaving badly since it's aim is not really about civil justice. Radical Islamist will not lay siege to Dubai or the great Wall City by Arabia, with all the implied "unislamic opulence and decadence, since they are symbolic. They are essentially rude fingers (middle finger) cocking a snoop at Western civilization, proclaiming that islamic civilization can outdo the West in its own game. |
Monaboo:Would be great if people could also verify or achieve some of these things online. We're in the 21 century. Lagos and other cities in Nigeria are not taking advantage of the revenue they could make by exploiting the great need in the West for Nigeria property. I know so many people from Nigeria, the Caribbean and US interested in purchasing land and homes in Nigeria but are discouraged by news of ripoffs and the opaque nature of the process. |
Is Lagos state government complicit? When are they going to get to grips with sanitising land, property and sales rights and prosecute some of these openly corrupt realtors ? Isn't a moratorium possible in which all realtor activities are suspended for a year during which time the state government fine-tunes the system or and introduce alternative state approved realtors etc ? |
Explanation for why so many that leave Nigeria for Abroad then turn around to abuse Nigeria in ways that no other nationalities abuse thire own nations when having emigrated abroad, is maybe due to them not actually being Nigerians. Nigeria is like the South Africa of West Africa, attracting even now as in the past, hundreds of thousands of people from neighbouring nations. Unlike South Africa , though, Nigeria doesn't have even a modicum of border control nor perhaps the expertise and rigour South Africa applies to immigration. We keep no meaningful records. This could mean Nigeria has way more immigrants than South Africa does. In any case, many of these immigrants live, grow up, learn our languages and politics, many are born in Nigeria but have affinity for the lands of their parents. Many are half Nigerians - and depending on which sex one part of thire parents are, will identify with Nigeria or the foreign nation. Children are likelier to identify with their mothers people. Together these type of people are more likely to be the ones that hate and cuss Nigeria, for whatever reasons, when they emigrate from Nigeria. You as a true Nigerian, not knowing this, may be left baffled and wondering why or how could anyone go abroad and resort to insulting the nation of thire forefathers to the terrible extent that often happens. You'd be thinking, 'but no other nationalities does this, why Nigerians?' You may even blame Igbos or IPOB Not knowing that those people aren't actually as Nigerian as you may believe. |
Mods, People Traffickers full this thread o, encouraging Jappa! |
Anyway, state governments or those in positions of capability, may do some public good if they enable the introduction of the more sophisticated types of 3d bill boards to Nigeria cities were possible. Every and any diversion able to positively lift the people's spirits wouldn't be a bad thing. |
mmadu5:And na them go shout pass - and mostly such as implying that the government knows nothing; the military knows nothing; the police knows nothing; Chiefs, village heads and elders know nothing; na them, or the likes of DJ Cuppy or Gopy, sabi pass. |
