Thanks javalove, keep it up. They have attached some bad words to islam and the whole world is foolishly doing same. Words like Terror, Terrorism, Extremists and so on.If niger delta is situated in the north, they would have said they are 'muslim terrorist' if you don't make deciecions and reaearch of your own, someone, somewhere will make it for you. Intelligent people make their own deciecions, fools follow public opinions.great |
Islamic scholar voted world's No 1 thinker · Robert Tait in Istanbul The Guardian, Monday June 23, 2008 A hitherto largely unknown Turkish Islamic scholar, Fethullah Gülen, has been voted the world's top intellectual in a poll to find the leading 100 thinkers. Gülen, the author of more than 60 books, won a landslide triumph after the survey - which is organised by the British magazine, Prospect, and Foreign Policy, a US publication - attracted more than 500,000 votes. The top 10 individuals were all Muslim and included two Nobel laureates, the novelist Orhan Pamuk, who is also Turkish, at No 4, and the Iranian human rights lawyer Shirin Ebadi, in 10th. The result surprised organisers, who attributed it to a sustained campaign by Gülen's followers, known as the Gülen Movement, after Turkey's biggest-selling newspaper, Zaman, publicised the poll. Prospect's editor, David Goohart, admitted to not having previously heard of Gülen and said his supporters had "made a mockery" of the poll. But he said the result flagged up significant political trends in Turkey. "The victory of Gülen draws attention to the most important conflict in Europe, played out in Turkey between the secular nationalist establishment and the reforming Islamic democrats of the AK [Justice and Development] party," he said. The AKP, which is allied to Gülen, is contesting a case brought by Turkey's chief prosecutor to shut it down and ban it from politics for allegedly trying to usher in Islamic rule, in breach of the country's secular constitution. A Gülen supporter, Bulent Kenes, who is editor-in-chief of Today's Zaman newspaper, denied the poll had been hijacked. "There are many people who promote Gülen's ideas, which contribute to world peace by urging international dialogue and tolerance." Gülen, 67, is known for a modernist brand of Islam. He was cleared of trying to topple the state in 2006 after being charged over footage in which he apparently urged civil service supporters to await his orders to overthrow the system. He said the film had been doctored. Gülen, who has lived in the US since 1998, is credited with establishing a global network of schools which preach Islam in a spirit of tolerance. He has been praised in the west for promoting dialogue and condemned Osama bin Laden as a monster after September 11. xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx xxxxx Yunus voted 2nd among world's top thought leaders Staff Correspondent Daily Star 24/6/08 Nobel laureate Prof Muhammad Yunus was voted second in the top 100 intellectuals of the world in a global poll hot on the heels of the University of Cambridge selecting him in its list of top 50 global thought leaders. Yunus, chairman of Grameen Bank, came second to a little-known Turkish Islamic scholar, Fethullah Gulen, who won the survey organised jointly by Prospect, a British magazine and Foreign Policy, a US publication, reports British newspaper the Guardian. The survey attracted 500,000 votes. The top ten of the list were all Muslim and included two Nobel laureates, Turkish writer Orhan Pamuk and Iranian human rights activist Shirin Ebadi. Indian noble laureate Amartya Sen came 16th in the poll while writer Salman Rushdie was voted 23rd. Yunus was recently chosen by Cambridge University as one of the top 50 thought leaders on corporate sustainability and sustainability, as part of the university's 800th anniversary and 20th anniversary of the Cambridge Programme for Industry (CPI). He was chosen through a selection process after a poll conducted among CPI's 2000-strong alumni network. |
@davidylan That "allah" is the arabic word for God does not force-fit the muslim God into the bible.Sorry, you are very funny; you are even confirming what I said. the word 'God' has been used in many forms. Ogun worshippers regard Ogun as God tooDon't contradict yourself with this, Ogun worshipers belief that there is supereme God known as 'Olodumare' to them, ogun is just an intermediary. Check this out: http://www.imine.1colony.com/photo4.html Then, are you still confused? |
Mustay, The link has been updated. It's no longer available. |
There is another report on The Nation newspaper as "Crisis in Osun over seizure of masquerader’s mask 27/6/2008 ". |
@davidylan there are multiple "gods" . . . my God i know, which is yours? There is only one God don't be confused with the word Allah, it is an arabic word for God. Even in arabic bible, Allah is used allthrough. Semantically, Allah is the original word that can be used to describe Him cos it means UNIQUE, diety( to be worshiped). No singular or plural. |
@olabowale Thanks my brother. I don't know when God decided to send an holy spirit to speak to human being to guide and comfort them. However, all the guidance and comforter God sent were in human form; started from prophet Adam,Nuhu, Abraham and so on. |
Thanks all. I still need more detail with proofs from Quran and Hadith. I raise this issue because music has become an instinct in our society even including muslimu and muslimah who preach against it. Even I discuss with law students on sharia in which some claims that music even if accompany with instruments is allowed as long as they obey some rules of Islam; such has depriving one from salat, mixing of opposite sex e.t.c From one's claim under Islamic jurispudence on sharia: "Nothing is haram unless it is clearly stated in the book of Allah" and indicates that music is not clearly stated as haram. |
Sorry you don't deserve an answer because your question has no good intentions. How could you read someone's mind? I belief I wish to know what holy spirit is and how it operate. Identify any sign of bad intention in my statement so I can apologise. |
Before I respond in detail on this topic: 'Prophet Muhammad In The Bible' can someone explain in detail what holy spirit is and how is comforting people. please, if holy spirit has not comfort you, don't respond. |
How will this act of unmasquerading ever bring the peace that islam professes?I wish you check my earlier post. |
@asamuel, The issue is you can't force anyone to leave whatever they believe to be their religious practiceIslam disagree forcing anybody to belief. It's a religion of knowledgible people and not of morons. Its principal rule is that of justice to maintain peace and order and its approach is that of bieng defensive, hence you think: Islam is still the thorn in the flesh of the entire world |
RedHotChic, noetic Thanks for informing us(muslims) of our intolerance. I really like the information is made in public for forum like this, at least it will make us to correct our feelings and emotions ( on intimidation) if at all we are doing that. I pray Almighty God reward you according to your intention. Allah's Apostle said, "Help your brother, whether he is an oppressor or he is an oppressed one. People asked, "O Allah's Apostle! It is all right to help him if he is oppressed, but how should we help him if he is an oppressor?" The Prophet said, "By preventing him from oppressing others." So, above quotes is telling us to correct people whenever they are doing wrong to others. Now: Islam teaches tolerance on all levels: individual, groups and states.infact, It is a religious moral duty. The Qur'an says very clearly: (To every People have We appointed rites and ceremonies which they must follow, let them not then dispute with you on the matter, but do invite (them) to your Lord: for you are assuredly on the Right Way. If they do wrangle with you, say, 'God knows best what it is you are doing.' 'God will judge between you on the Day of Judgment concerning the matters in which you differ') (Quran 21:76-69). It was exemplified in the life of the prophet: “God’s messenger was sitting in the mosque with some of his companions when a Bedouin urinated inside the mosque. The Prophet’s companions said: ‘What is going on?’ ‘What are you doing?’ The Prophet said to them: ‘Do not interrupt him.’ He subsequently called the man and said to him: ‘These mosques are not the place where one can throw any dirt, urine or stools. They are meant for reciting the Qur’an, glorifying God and prayer.’ He then called for a bucket of water and he poured it over the urine.” Had it being that the prophet is not tolerant, he would have ordered to cut his head off. Even, ordinarily, as a human being, we are more tolerant than the other if we are intimidated. Islam emphasizes the establishment of equality and justice, both of these values cannot be established without some degree of tolerance. Islam recognized from the very beginning the principle of freedom of belief or freedom of religion. It said very clearly that it is not allowed to have any coercion in the matters of faith and belief. The Qur'an says, (There is no compulsion in religion) (Quran 2:256). The prophet s.a.w. said, “Do not be envious of one another, do not artificially raise prices against one another, do not turn one’s back on each other and do not undercut one another in business transaction. And O servants of Allah, be brothers. A muslim is a brother of a muslim. He does not wrong him. He does not fail him ( when he needs him). He does not lie to him. And he does not show contempt for him. Piety is here”. And he pointed to his chest three times. “ It is enough of evil for a person to hold his brother in contempt. All of a muslim is inviolable to another muslim, his blood, his wealth and his honor”. If the muslims apply the teaching of this hadith, there will be a great change and improvement in their inter relationship and love for one another and a better life. First, the prophet s.a.w. is showing us what we shouldn’t do toward each other, we should avoid: Envy: Means to hate that the other person has even received the blessing in the first place. This disease of the heart and the sin, which is known, as envy was one of the first sins ever committed. It was one of the main thing that drove Satan away from Allah s.w.t. And envy was the cause of the first murder in humanity history (Cain and Abel) The prophet s.a.w said, “Belief and Envy do not gather together in the heart of a slave of Allah”. Therfore: One should not post information because you have hatred for other belief or envy, otherwise, understand through seeking for knowledge about such faith and how it suppose to be practiced. Also, most of these news are unbalanced and lack true figure of the event. There are some of these news we've tried to investigate and at the end it we noticed it lacks detail. And by God's grace after my investigation, I would feed you back. May Almighty God forgives you and me for the wrongdoing of our hands, may He be pleases with us and make us see the lights of Islam and endows us wisdom in its application. Amin |
To fear Allah? This means that we have to remember Allah (SWT) at all times. We have to be righteous and pious and restrain and guard ourselves from evil. We have to be strong in conveying the Truth and should not fear anyone but Allah (SWA). We should see to it that everything we think, we say, and we do is Islamic and in complete submission to the Will of Allah (SWA). We should have Taqwa (fear of Allah), which is a virtuous conduct in the Sight of Allah (SWA): Abu Hurairah (radhiallahu anhu) narrated that “Allah’s Messenger (SAW) was asked, “Who are the most honorable of the people?” The Prophet (SAW) said, “The most honorable of them in Allah’s Sight are those who keep their duty to Allah and fear Him…” (Bukhari 6/211) Verily, Allah (SWA) is the Only One Who deserves our fear. We should fear Him Alone as He knows the secrets of our hearts and is well acquainted with all that we do (5:7- . Allah (SWA) says: “O you who believe! Fear Allah as He should be feared, and die not except in a state of Islam. And hold fast, all together, by the rope which Allah (stretches out for you), and be not divided among yourselves, ” (3:102-103) “It is only the Evil One that suggests to you the fear of his votaries: be not afraid of them but fear Me if you have faith.” (3:175) “And call in remembrance the favor of Allah unto you, and His Covenant, which He ratified with you, when you said: “We hear and we obey”: and fear Allah, for Allah knows well the secrets of your hearts.” (5:7) “To Him belongs whatever is in the heavens and on earth and to Him is duty due always: then will you fear other than Allah?” (16:52) “Turn your back in repentance to Him and fear Him: establish regular prayers and be not among those who join gods with Allah.” (30:31) “O you who believe! Fear Allah, and let every soul look to what (provision) he has sent forth for the morrow. Yea, fear Allah for Allah is well-acquainted with (all) that you do.” (59:18) We should as much as possible inculcate in our minds and hearts the fear of Allah (SWA). Wherever we are, we have to fear Allah (SWA), do good deeds and deal with people nicely: Abu Dharr (radhiallahu anhu) narrated that Allah’s Messenger (SAW) said to him, “Fear Allah wherever you are; if you follow an evil deed with a good one you will obliterate it; and deal with people with a good disposition.” (Tirmidhi 5083) Ali Bin Abu Talib (radhiallahu anhu) narrated that the last words, which Allah’s Messenger(SAW) spoke were: “Prayer, prayer; fear Allah about those whom your right hands possess.” (Abu Dawud 5137) |
@chrisd, Thanks for your input so far, In Islam everybody will be accountable for whatever he does when he was alive. The challenge before muslims is to seek for knowledge prior to anything you want to do and it's also the muslim doctrine. Even in line with woshiping, " Knows me before you woships me, that is what Allah says. And this is also the faith of Abraham (Qr 6:75-83), he took a stance of who is behind all these creations. And from there, he started thinking so many things, untill Allah reveal himself to him. There are so many verses in the Quran that refer muslims to seek for knowledge. Allah says in Qur’an,” It is only (those who have knowledge) among His slaves that fear Allah. Verily, Allah is All Mighty, Oft-Forgiving”(35:28). Therfore, it is welcome if anybody wants to know about Islam. I belief if such a person is sincere and not an antagonist, Allah will guide him. We pray Allah guides us all and reward us with paradise. Amin |
Thanks 4play and Mustay, Please for Muslims only to share thier faith within themselves. I belief other faith can contribute in term of questions or opinion but not attacking one another or abusing God's prophets. We already knows our differences. Then, let think of what we can benefit from eachother. May God forgive us all. Amin |
Salam, May Almighty Allah guide us right. Thank all for your input so far. |
Hello Charlisco, source = http://debate.org.uk/topics/apolog/question.htmPlease read through what you've posted and comment on the author's perception on Islam. You don't need to be parochial and proxy dependant. I wish you are a good researcher to filter and summarize what you've read concisely. |
Hello Layi, This don't move me a bit. It would only move me if JESUS becomes a muslimThanks for your post. Can you explain to me which religion Jesus practiced. Moreso, what do you know about someone being a muslim? Come to intellectual constructive arguement, not just type something. |
Hello may kelly, CHRIST IS THE KING OF KINGS AND THAT CHRIST REIGNS FOREVERI really like your contribution. However, I want us to be more constructive. I am a muslim and I believe in Jesus and his mesage, and I believe he is still alive. I believe in God who created Jesus. So, what Islam claim is that GOD IS THE KING and after him no king exist and we are all His servant including Jesus( May the blessing God be with him). |
Hello Akpanbaba and the likes, Please we should be very carefull with our response. At times, when we read some information we may be hurt, that doesn't mean that we shouldn't be able to control our emotion and feeling. Our utmost aim is to get fulfill by being rewarded with paadise. I don't think anything bad in someone saying his religion is the fastest growing in the world to his fellow followership. Let us open our mind and look upon what we can benefit from one another religiously and socially. Arguement and attacking eachother will not help our generation. God says: O People of the Book! (Christians, Jews) come to “common term”s as between us and you: that we worship none but Allah; that we associate no partners with Him; that we erect not, from among ourselves, Lords and patrons other than Allah." If then they turn back, say ye: "Bear witness that we (at least) are Muslims (bowing to Allah's Will.) (HQ: 3: 64). I am a muslim, and I am very much belief in my faith. It is a way of life that encompasses everything. Let's keep aside from what we heard in the news:'terrorist, fundamentalist, bombing etc'. I know it is not balanced news and most of them has political undertone. Islam respect the belief of others as it has been stated in the Holy book: 'you will not practice our religion and we will not practice yours; you have yours and we have ours'. In conclusion Allah says: "Verily those who invent a lie concerning Allah will not succeed. This world's portion (will be theirs), then unto Us is their return. Then, We make them taste a dreadful doom because they used to disbelieve." (The Holy Quran Yunus, 10:69-70) O you who believe! Stand firmly for Allah, as witnesses to fair dealing, and let not the hatred of others (for you) to you make you swerve to wrong and depart from justice. Be just: that is next to piety: and fear Allah. For Allah is well-acquainted with all that you do.(The Holy Quran, Al-Maeda, 5: ![]() |
Hello Olabelo, Kindly justify Hamadist-(followers of Ghulam hamad) if they are on the right path and if you are one, pls justify your folowership. Thanks. |
Salam Alykum, We thank Allah SWA that makes us muslim may he spare our life as a muslim and die as a muslim. Meanwhile, as a muslim one should know the essence of being a muslim and act accordingly: 1. Believe in God, His angels, His Books as completed by the Qur’ an, His messengers with Muhammad being the Last of them all, the Day of Final Judgement, the absolute knowledge and wisdom of God. 2. Those who trust God always and enjoy unshakable confidence in Him. 3. Those who spend in the way of God of what He has given them in the form of wealth, life, health, knowledge, experience, and so on 4. Those who observe their daily prayers regularly as well as the weekly and annual congregations 5. Those who pay their religious taxes (alms or Zakah) to the rightful beneficiaries (individuals or institutions), the minimum of which is two and half percent of the annual “ net” income, or of the total value of stocks if in business – after discounting all expenses and credits 6. Those who enjoin the right and good, and combat the wrong and evil by all lawful means at their disposal 7. Those who obey God and His Messenger Muhammad; and feel increasing strength of faith when the Qur’ an is recited, and humility of heart when God’ s name is mentioned 8. Those who love God and His Messenger most, and love their fellow men sincerely for the sake of God alone 9. Those who love their near and distant neighbors and show genuine kindness to their guests, especially the strangers 10. Those who say the truth and engage in good talk, or else abstain. [quoteThey only are the true believers whose hearts feel submissive (and humble) when God is mentioned; and when the revelations of God are recited unto them, they (the revelations) increase and strengthen their Faith; and who trust in their Lord, establish the prayer (as enjoined on them) and spend of what We have bestowed on them (in the cause of God). Those are they who are in truth believers. For them are (high) grades (of honor) with their Lord, and a bountiful provision (Qur’ an, 8:2-4).]

May Allah makes us a better muslim. |
If someone claim to be an Hamadist, literarily means that he/she is following the tenet of Ghulam Hamad. Historically, this man came to claim so many things which could have nulify one as a muslim if he/she belief in it. In Tazkiratush-Shahadatain he wrote about his fulfillment of various prophesies. In it, he enumerated a variety of prophesies and descriptions from both Qur'an and Hadith relating to advent of the Promised Messiah which he ascribes to himself. His claims of being the Mujaddid (reformer) of his era is very explicit. These writings were compiled in one of his most well-known and praised works: Barahin-e-Ahmadiyya, a work consisting of a number of volumes. In later volumes, he would claim to be the Messiah of Islam, which has proven a strong challenge for Muslims to accept, |
I got the message as well. Meanwhile, I already knew it is true. |
People do not collect salaries in advance so am kind of annoyed why landlords, agents should be collecting rents in advance minimum 2 yearsThat is one of the major problem we have in this country. Well, I dont blame any landlord for this, it is bad governing system in this country call Nigeria. Nobody check anything they would never check because that is what all these political tugs call leaders are doing as well. Things would be better if govt change for better. |
It is better they go on strike. When they ve not strike, what are enjoining from PHCN. This would not make any difference. They should start now. For over three months I can counts hours we ve spent with electricity from them. Very very funny. |
I think you are for each other. For better for worse. Give your support |
Hello all, I quite agree with you all that a music is either right or wrong in Islam base on some reasons. I need someone to provide details. Some believe they are propagating Islam and helping others with thier music. Examples is the kind of Yusuf Islam and Sami Yusuf music. Thanks all for your response so far. |
SysuserX 1. Mohammmed is a False Prophet according to the Bible and a true prophet of AlllahI wish you not to continue with what you are typing with beautiful hand created by God in order not to perish. Think well and seek for forgiveness. |
Can we say Music is forbidden in Islam? |
. Allah (SWA) says:
