Webmasters / Re: How Do I Set Up My Blog? by LMServices: 11:36pm On Sep 01, 2020
Veiniously:
sometimes you need to communicate with people who have been there... Than just article writing buy some one especially one person
For blogs on WordPress, you necessarily do not have to communicate with those who have been there. This is why the idea of install and demo import is made available on almost every WordPress theme these days.

Except your type of blog requires custom development, you are as good as ready to start from the scratch, even without help.

However, in areas of tweaking robots.txt files, using .htaccess for SEO advantages and SEO in general, a newbie will get lost in it through and through.

But first, the focus is on start a blog (building one), and not on writing.

Good day everyone. Please I want to set up a blog but I'm a bit confuse on how to go about it.
I have sourced information online concerning it but it seems the information is not sufficient for me.

please is it possible for somebody to set up a blog without some else assistant?

please I need help.
Thank you in anticipation.
Hello. There is no way the information online won't be sufficient for you, except you are looking in the wrong areas.

Ask yourself on what platform you'd love to have your website running? By platform, that is the CMS. The most popular two are Blogger (very restrictive) and WordPress (restrictive and unrestrictive). The restrictive part of WordPress is the while the unrestrictive, limitless version is WordPress.org. The latter allows you to do endless things with your blog and the CMS.

With this few explanation, it is best you now tailor your search to either of the 3.

Webmasters / Re: Who Can Recommend A Good Firm For SEO Training In Lagos by LMServices: 9:55pm On Aug 29, 2020
Greatzeus:

Before you get scammed. Ask him to show you how SEO has helped him as a blogger. Anybody can Google anything and say it. Let him show you his own blog, let him use Google analytics or other tool to show you how many visits he gets, Google the topics on his blog and see if they will show up on first few Google search pages.
You don't need firm to teach you SEO,it's a scam. Use your internet and YouTube. Besides SEO is overrated. All you need is good quality long post.
Hello. Although you acted in the best interest of the person who created the thread but ended up maligning our business and implying what it is not.

For the record, not everyone who works in the SEO industry must own a blog. And I am not referring to accidental SEO specialists who think owning a blog and writing posts is SEO.

The emboldened very well clearly defines your knowledge of what SEO is all about. It is possible to have ignored your post and looked on but coming at our business the way you did with no knowledge of SEO is a bit surprising.

SEO transcends beyond writing and spending endless hours on long posts. Perhaps your knowledge is limited in this field but it is obvious you wouldn't tell someone with a website and not a blog to write long posts to rank.

We respect your views and the fact that you cautioned the individual. We have few proud case studies with consulting, agriculture, eCommerce and tech firms we have gladly assisted in making their brands visible on Google.

It won't be bad if you request our case studies to learn and see results on steroids.

Our business is duly registered with the CAC and we pride ourselves in delivering good results.

Webmasters / Re: Is A Webhosting Company A Necessity? Please Help! by LMServices: 8:39pm On Aug 27, 2020
Kryptonvinyl:
Good evening Gurus.
Please I wanna Inquire about something. I'm still confused about this Domain Name and Web Hosting stuff.

If you create your website from scratch, will you still need a webhosting company to host it?
Also If you buy a Domain name from a company, will that company be the host of the site?
Yes. You need a web hosting provider except if you have your own personal server.

Also, I'll like to know the Programs needed to run a clean, successful Website.
By programs, a wild guess here is the content management system. Depending on the complexity of your proposed website, budget, programming experience and expectations the CMS could vary, from simple, cheap to complex.

And I'll also like to know what kinda website i can create that will most likely be successful.
This, no one can answer for you. Two things; you either need to engage website consultants to do the research for you or do it yourself. What it requires is a feasibility study of your website/focus, market trends, research and volume of search. All of these factors will point to whether or not you are positioned for success or setting yourself up for failure.

I've forgotten some questions i wanted to ask, maybe i'll ask later.

But for now, Please I need answers to these question. I'll really appreciate
In the event that you require a website developer, or a consultant, we will be more than happy to work with you.

All the best!
Webmasters / Re: I Need A Configuration That Allows Two Domain Point To The Same Website. Help!!! by LMServices: 8:17pm On Aug 27, 2020
stevedeey:
1. I have a website currently hosted by a hosting company
2. The website has a domain name i.e (www.existingdomain.com) currently pointing to it

The above is fine and working

3. My client needs another domain i.e (www.newdomain.com) to open the same website (www.existingdomain.com) , the existing domain would also open

At the end of the day, we want to have both (www.existingdomain.com) and (www.newdomain.com) point/open the same website.
Please webmasters, I need your insights on how best I can go about this.
Regards
You need to do a 301 redirect. However, there is more to it. For the sake of SEO (if the previous has been in existence before now), you'd also need to do a redirect for SEO.

Although the 301 is healthy and instructs that it is a permanent one, it is important to do a formal SEO redirect as well.
Webmasters / Re: Where In Nigeria Is The Best Selling Point For IT Business? by LMServices: 10:23am On Aug 22, 2020
This is very simple. Developed areas or developing areas are 10x more likely to get better traction as opposed to certain places.

The Eastern part is a bad idea. I personally wouldn't recommend it as that would mean he might not periodically get jobs, considering the fact that civil servants, skilled labourers and entrepreneurs make up the larger share of the East. Sadly, some are unenlightened to understand the advantage of owning a website, let alone keeping extra resources for managing and maintenance of the same.

And there is the issue of businesses going moribund and some relocating to some parts of the South.

However, his only escape route would be cutting across and serving clients from where he is instead of people within the region.

Lagos or Abuja but he will need a lot of convincing as an entrant into the market.
Webmasters / Re: I Want To Build Websites All By Myself. Can I? by LMServices: 9:10am On Aug 21, 2020
Perhaps you're referring to the WordPress install theme-import demo method as "building a website".

The entirety of major websites on the Internet are powered by WordPress while well over 90% of WordPress websites are "install and import demo", custom made solutions EVEN ON WORDPRESS require more than that.

So, technically, your answer is wrong. Anyone can do "install and import" but not everyone can BUILD websites. It takes more than installing and demo importing or page builders to be a website builder or developer as some parade themselves as.

Hi! You can start by following "valuable" people and then posting relevant real estate contents that most Nigerians can relate to.

You will carve a niche for yourself if you stay consistent at it.

Hello guys,I need a detailed explanation on how celebrities make money from Instagram,I see different articles about Instagrams highest earners, the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi,Our very own Davido, but I usually wonder how they make this money and how it gets to them.

Will be very grateful if you can help a brother, Thanks in advance.

cc:mukina2
Global celebrities make money on Instagram via Paid Partnership or Sponsorship. What this means is that they feature in a video ad or photoshoot, in some cases and post on their Instagram page in order to get to their millions of followers.

If you visit Anthony Joshua's page or Cristiano Ronaldo's, you will definitely see a vide ad with the tag "paid partnership".
Webmasters / Re: Dear Seun, Nairaland Needs A 'dislike' Button For Users To Express Displeasure by LMServices: 10:24pm On Aug 13, 2020
Interesting observation but the dislike button on social media platforms has done more damage than good over the years.

Suicide and depression among young people can be attributed to social media (trolling or disapproved via dislike buttons). And with a platform as Nairaland where there are divergent views, a dislike button might trigger or see a sharp increase in depression, and possibly suicide among Nigerians.

So many social media platforms are either muting the dislike buttons or not showing dislike counts for those reasons.

From a psychological point of view, a dislike button will see Nairaland become a troll farm.

Webmasters / Re: I Need Your HELP. Please Educate Me On How You Run Your Website Business by LMServices: 11:55pm On Aug 10, 2020
Adsumo:
Please educate me on this:

I have FOUR questions that I've been thinking about and I need answers (from experts only, NOT spammers).

1. Please, how much do you charge for a basic 3-5 page website (i.e homepage, about, terms & policy etc).

2. Do you charge clients for monthly maintenance or just for the one time creation process?

If yes,

3. Does your monthly fee include marketing campaigns for client like Facebook Ads, email marketing etc.

4. And how much do you charge for maintenance after the initial website creation process?

I just need this information. I'm not creating a website.

So spammers, be gone grin

Experts only please. Thank you.
Hello!

Here are possible answers to your questions;

1. Some base their pricing around the number of pages while others, around functionalities of your website. For us, we will listen to your expectations for the website, understand the type of website you want before coming up with a pricing. Sometimes, the 'basic' websites with fewer pages can be packed with immense functionalities 20-pages websites would have. So, that depends.

2. Monthly maintenance should not be the prerogative of the web designer or developer or whoever crafted your website. You might choose to contract the same person or agency to manage the website and pay them on a monthly basis based on agreement. But typically, it is a one-off affair except you wish otherwise.

3. Marketing campaigns (Search Engine Marketing or Social Media Marketing campaigns) are very different from periodic web maintenance. You will have to come to an agreement with the same to take the marketing campaign up for a fee. HOWEVER, IT IS BEST YOU ARE CAREFUL because social media marketing or search engine marketing generally is not a forte for most people. So be sure you are getting someone or an agency with a valid case study of previous campaigns. We have one or two of this and would love to show you should it interest you.

4. I believe this question has been answered at #3. For us, we value relationships even in business, which is why we accept little or nothing from clients we developed their websites and periodically do revisions on request for a limited period of time.

I sure hope this has answered your question. In the event that you would like to discuss further on how we can help, kindly reach us via email or on WhatsApp using the links in our signature.

Webmasters / Re: Someone Just Scammed Me In Here............ by LMServices: 10:37pm On Aug 02, 2020
No one deserves to be cheated or robbed of their money. It is why it is always advisable to do due diligence before handing over your project, be it mini or major to anyone/any agency.

You can ask his bank to block the account as you have been scammed. The domain is a .com.ng, which means you can trace its owner and where it is bought to lodge a complaint. Take the step to report the domain to NIRA and domain host.

On a final note, asking for a full payment on a job prior to completion is not the way to go and no client should indulge that.

It is a painful experience. You can help others by dropping the full name and account details you paid to so others won't fall victim as well.
