Christianity EtcRe: Where Is God In Our Everyday Lives? by logicboy(op): 11:29am On Apr 11, 2012
Idango: When a man’s heart is cold and unconcerned about religion – when his hands are never employed in doing God’s work – when his feet are not familiar with God’s ways – when his tongue is seldom or never used in prayer and praise – when his eyes are blind to the beauty of the kingdom of heaven – when his mind is full of the world, and has no room for spiritual things – when these marks are to be found in a man, the word of the Bible is the right word to use about him, and that word is, ‘Dead.’

Idango: You dont know what happen when you die, you just assume that you cease to exist. And you are taking such a heavy risk with your life making assumption?
First you assume there is no God,
then you assume the earth and human just came on their own and begin to evolve and
then you assume that when you die, you just close your eyes and everything ceases.
You are deluded.
Just retrace your step now and come to God before it is too late.
You assume that there is God with no proof. I assume that there is no God because there is growing evidence more and more things that were not created.

You assume that the earth was created but have no no proof and no idea about the other 99% of the universe (the other galaxies).

You assume that there is a heaven or hell with no evidence and you can even describe it with accurate detail- is heaven in the sky or on other planets? Is hel a lake of molten magma or burning coal?

rawtruth: You strayed from your main question into another one by mixing God with religion. The question: "Where is God in our everyday lives?' alone is 'huge' enough to attract hundreds of pages in responses. One elementary mistake common to many is the belief that everyone who believes in God has a religion. Even what we call Christianity today did not start out as a religion. It is the human way of conceiving what is 'good' before God and the rules intended to keep believers from straying into what is 'bad' that have assumed the tag of 'religion'.

And, if you had enough understanding of the word "GOD" you wouldn't make such statement; quoting different individuals who had/have no belief in God but had/have contributed much through inventions and other areas of human endeavours. For, God is the SOURCE of all existence! Would you then doubt that there has never been a source from which all existence came forth? This very SOURCE maintains and sustains all that exist till today. If these inventors and those you mentioned are parts of an existence that owes its coming into effect to this one SOURCE then God has everything to do with their/our everyday lives; because that SOURCE is GOD!
What/who is God? Is God a man or woman? Is God a source of evil since he is the source of everything?

epizhotletgs: You might think this is a complicated issue on ground but i assure you its not. The knowledge they use in the production of all the gadgets you talk about isn't theirs even if they don't see it that way. The Lord granted them the knowledge not their mini gods or believes.
Christians have a duty of changing and turning the heart of Man to God, not manufacturing of gadgets that would take mans focus further away from God.
What does it profit a man to gain the whole world and loose his soul? Making Heaven is 100% more important than making history.
huh huh

God also granted them the knowledge of atheism?

iv4fb: "The fool has said in his heart there is no God".

"... And the love of many shall wax cold"

Lots of people shall go away from the faith, its end time.

@logicboy, your points were well stated, u win! You could even start a race, you already have followers. But I also have issues against u

1. As an atheist, logicboy what have u invented and in which way have u help solve the problems religion creates in Nigeria?
2. Since when did u become an atheist?
1)I contribute to a children's charity and I also help poor relatives in Nigeria go to school
2)Since I saw that the bible loves slavery;
Leviticus 25:44
"Your male and female slaves are to come from the nations around you; from them you may buy slaves.

1 Peter 2:18
"Slaves, submit yourselves to your masters with all respect, not only to those who are good and considerate, but also to those who are harsh."

Titus 2:9
"Teach slaves to be subject to their masters in everything, to try to please them, not to talk back to them"

Furthermore, as a Nigerian, why should I accep a foriegn religion brought to my country with slavery?

beneli: @ the bolded, you are!

'The other question is why does religion especially Christianity and Islam contribute less to the solutions of human problems of today in terms of technology, science and better government compared to atheism and agnosticism? (most peaceful countries are less religious)'

The part in itallics was your second question in the original post.

Developments in science, technology etc are products of man's creative genius. So I was indeed responding to you. People coming to your house and telling you that you will burn in hell, when using products made by intelligent man whether atheists or not are NOT true believers!

Religion is only a shadow of the truth. True believers are not religious . . .
I can see how you draw your conclusion on creativity from my comment. However, I was specifically talking about the reluctance of christianity and islam to act on issues rather than spread their doctrine.
Christianity EtcRe: Where Is God In Our Everyday Lives? by logicboy(op): 11:39pm On Apr 10, 2012
beneli: It’s not belief – or unbelief – in God that makes humans creative.

So @ logicboy, this topic is, quite honestly, illogical . . .
huh huh huh huh

Who is talking about creativity? Point is that people should realise that saying athiest will burn in hell when using products made by atheists is just laughable!

I couldnt care less about what people believe but christians are a bunch of busy bodies- I have jehovah's witness and mormons disturbing my house on sundays and I have evangelists preaching in buses and market squares. You want me to hear your Jewish god's message? Then listen to my atheistic opinion first!

freshera: If you intelligently conduct a good research and ask honest questions humbly, you will understand the bible more. I can't say more than that cos I don't know everything.

It is possible to convert a die-hard bad person with good behaviour. You can't control people's actions but you can control your reaction which is the most important aspect for you(not You, speaking generally).

My religion does not teach people to do evil. Crucify the bad person for his evil heart not his religion. the extremist stabbing, God forbid, I reject it in IJN.
Now you know where I'm coming from grin

freshera: Most of you atheist are looking for attention because God didn't answe your prayers. Some of you I will say are just wimpy.

Most of you have the pride of Lucifer.

Nobody will ever know who created God, christian or not.

So why do the unintelligent pursuit of asking who created Him? It's eternally pointless.

Except you are jealous of His power and mystery and intelligence and creativity and thinking just like Lucifer. You want to know what makes God tick? Okay o.
You say atheists have the pride of lucifer which is very ironic because your God was foolish and arrogant enough to create an Angel (lucifer) that is powerful enough to destroy his relationship with human beings and rebel against him!

Fairytale aside, your god doesnt exist. Tell me, has he talked to you? what accent does he have and does he sound like a woman or man?

And where did you get that crap the Japanese do not believe in God?

The Japanese practice Shinto and Buddhism.

They more temples than you can imagine.

Christianity and Islam are the only religion the believes in GOD.
Zen Bhuddists do not necessarily believe in a God. Epic fail Emmatok 1

Most Japanese do not believe in a god - 70% no religion, 64% no God. Epic fail Emmatok 2

edcode: Where is God in our everyday lives? God is everywhere, performing a balancing act to keep the physical world as we know it. Handling big issues like the weather on earth or trivial issues like initiating the death of a baby. Providing surplus for a few and scarcity for many. Giving men the ideas and ability to produce weapons of mass destruction and also medicine and procedures that extend and make our lives better. You know, all the stuff we see around everyday. Either that or God has lost interest, has fallen asleep or is dead, leaving everything on some bizarre autopilot.
grin grin grin grin

Edcode, epic is thy comment.

Christianity EtcRe: Where Is God In Our Everyday Lives? by logicboy(op): 9:07pm On Apr 10, 2012
freshera: You can't blame God for the behaviours of xtians.

The two key points in the bible:

Love the Lord your God with . . .

Love thy neighbour as thyself.

How many xtians practise these? Most of the miracles we get are just from mercy cos human beings are not loving at all. People are naturally selfish.

Fine love God for goodies but after getting the goodies nko? people don't love.

How many xtians pray for their neighbours? People pray for themselves for 5hrs, neighbours 5mins. God can be limited by people's behaviours just like a xtian eating McDonald everyday can get cancer.

Please go to God and stop trying to arrogantly and steadfastly say untrue stuff. If God is unimportant in your opinion, why why waste time and intelligence talking about his non-existence. It is like talking about a baby that has not been conceived. And whose parents haven't even met.

Just say, God exists but you don't like Him, that is better. Not like I care what you say anyway. Let everyone do what they like.
1) I dont judge christians.....I use their bible which supports slavery;

2)God doesnt exist. You ask me why I waste time arguing over something that doesnt exist? The answer is simple; I was almost killed by someone who believed that he was doing God's work. The non-existent God is not the problem, its the people that believe in him. I ty to educate them. Have you ever been stabbed by an extremist?

Albert Einstein, Isaac newton, James Watt, A. Bell etc. were they athiests too? And you being an athiest what have you contributed to humanity? if you haven't contributed anything please shut up.
I contribute monthly to a children's charity. You are such a hypocrite, doesnt your religion tell you not to judge others?

Steve Jobs is a Zen Buddhist and if you had sense, you will understand that he has more in common with an atheist than a christian because Zen Buddhists do not necessarily believe in a God

dinmaa: this is a very 9ce 1,coz it illustrates d scientific truth abt God dat will mke an unbeliever 2 rethink.Nay,its components of cosmic teaching is another ingredient.
Science can only study things in the natural world. God is supernatural. There can never be scientific proof of God or someone turning water into wine or floating into heaven.

Beretta92: Go do your research, the fastest growing belief in the world is Atheism. This is because a lot of people are beginning to see dat things aren't really like "they" say.though i'm not an athiest,i dont believe god exists in my everyday life cos he never does anything for me,neva answers my prayers, always disappoints me n he's just neva there 4 me! Therefore,i reachd a conclusion dat he doesnt exist in my personal life tho he might exist in other people's.dat's where i stand 4 now.
I cant fault your decision. It's good that you have given a rational thought about god's existence
Christianity EtcRe: The Fear Of God Has Been Lost In The Church And Nations by logicboy: 7:29am On Apr 10, 2012
All tyrants rule with fear and soon, when the people get fed up and yearn for freedom, they lose the fear of that tyrant. The biblical God (If he exists) is a tyrant- murdering people who dont worship him or murdering families of people when he wants to test their faith (as seen in the case of Job).

grin grin grin grin grin

The fear of God is the beginning of brainwashing into religion.
