JeSoul: Solid comments from Martian. I agree there is no conflict.

I will only like to add that the conflict is not only fueled by some christians but also atheists a la Dawkinian style (such as logicboy) who hijack sciencific theories and attempt to use them to comment on religious matters.

Martian: There is no conflict!!! It's people like you and the fundamentalist christians who insist on this "conflict". If you say that there is a conflict, that implies that creationism is a possible scientific theory, and we know it's not.


Evolution is a scientific theory like the other extant scientific theories while creationism is nothing but the judeo christian myth that some ould like to call science. Calling their irrationality science is an insult to the scientific process. Sorry if I sounded harsh earlier but you give these christians and their irrationalities too much credence. Call creationism what it truly is, BULLSHIT

I guess i should add that there are some atheists (logicBoy) who perpetuate the religion vs science pseudoconflict.

Martian: There is no conflict except for the manufactured ones christians concoct. Science is just a process of aquiring knowledge about how the world works. Religion on the other hand is people trying to find purpose in their lives to protect them from the seemingly nihilist nature of reality.

And since religion provides some people with comfort, when science comes across some fact of nature that contradicts their security blanket, they turn on science and present their religious claims as valid despite evidence to the contrary. They are quick to say things like "it's just a theory" when they don't agree with a particuar scientific paradigm but when they don't have a problem with it they ignore the fact that the thing they are agreeing with is also "just a theory".

On LagosShia, the issue has been addressed on the thread created by Zhul-Fiqar. I will add though that I do not enjoy banning people. If people do not use uncivil language or insults there will be fewer bans.

i am not basing my answers on reason, you should know that by now, except like i suspect you have short memory or demons have been messing with your comprehension. my answers are based on premises greater than reason, the premise of faith in God.

Logicboy I’ve read your post more than once and I understand perfectly what you are trying to pose. Burning a bible or any other revered articles of another’s belief system may not be a “sin” depending on the individual but it is insensitive (irrespective of whether it’s a retaliation or in honour of a rival believer’s deity) but you have quite conveniently presented the issue in a context where burning the bible would be most appropriate. Thus it doesn’t fit well with the question since you’ve tailored the motives. Besides endangering the bible will only appreciate its worth.

I think the question is questionable and I have no business in burning any book when I can instead opt to resell them ...I sure won’t be burning my 19th century antique bible...that I know

LOL. this guy i went to high school with was the craziest dude you could ever encounter. at age 11 he was already smoking ciggarettes and pawpaw leaves. he was wild. i used to look at the like he was some insane guy. he used the bible pages to wipe his a-ss in the bushes after taking a shyttt. he said something about the pages of the bible being nice and soft enough to pass as tissue paper. he also used to roll joints ( weed ) up with bible paper. something about the bible paper being the best roller and whatnot. This guy was the most insane guy you ever met. i believe he used to cuss God out and was vehemently anti-God back then, and all this time we were just 11 years old. and we were in this boarding school till the age of 16. anyway i jammed the guy on facebook like 2 years ago. what do you know ? this guy is the most dedicated and most committed born again you ever saw on his facebook page if you aint talking about the lord he aint dealing. he staunch. what a life right ?

that story kinda reminded me of burning the bible. this guy used to desecrate the bible for smoking and wiping his crusty butt LOL

Fr0sbel: After the DANA air crash which deeply affected me for at least a week, I began to think of the consequences of rejecting the mercies and grace of God in this life and what to expect in the afterlife.


Today as we speak , some loud mouth atheist died, some Christian hypocrite died, some Radical Islamist died, some child died, some Good Christian died, but one thing is certain, in most cases they were not expecting it, they had plans for tomorrow , for next week for next month or even the next 5 years.

Gentlemen and Ladies my point is this, the passengers in the DANA plane had no one clue that it was their last day, they were 5 miles from the Lagos airport, they were most likely strapped to their seats ready for landing procedure, the air hostesses were taking all the trays of snacks away and everyone was looking forward to seeing their families.

Alas it was not to be, within minutes they were dead. Among them were Christians ( who hopefully prayed for those on board ) , atheists, Muslims. I really fear to think of where they are now , it scares me.
