Trust me. several calls, texts and support tickets.
They said they need time which i don't have. Their own site is working that's y i wanna know if any other person is affected.

A lot of my sites(over 10 of them) hosted on smartwebng.com has not been accessible today including a site that had been published in Tuesday Guardian for job seekers to register with a deadline for a vacancy. The sites are still not accessible.

All these Nigerian hosts sef. I hope they are not threading the same path that saw NAI.RAHO.ST of yesteryears destroying many online businesses including one of mine?

Is anybody using smartwebng.com experiencing the same problem or is it just me

I am a proudly Nigerian person and i try to be patriotic by patronising Nigerian companies but these 9ja webhosts make me weep at times.

I use joomla in situations where the user may or may not need to update site contents himself. My use of joomla goes beyond just its content management but its extensibility.

Take for instance, a client may want a bulk sms site with a forum and a blog integrated. He may also want a polling/voting functionality with a flash photo gallery, video gallery and newsletter capabilites. If i use joomla, i would only need to code a bulk sms component and download free joomla extensions to cater for all the rest. This would only take a short time. But imagine if i were to code all those things from scratch?

The use joomla depends on the nature of the job you are doing and it does not make u a non professional. Especially if u can extend it by coding modules, components and plugin.

I did d site below with joomla and coded an SMS Reseller component to extend its functionality. Would u say i'm lazy?

Its speed depends on the browser and your computer speed.
My tests shows that it is fastest on Firefox, average on Google chrome and slow in Microsoft Internet explorer.

I have optimized it for speed now and i also added a timer so u can test now. It generates 10,000 numbers at a go in 2.946 Seconds. Hope that is fast enuf.

That exceeds the scope of javascript. Will require server-side so u can buzz me personally if u want me to do it 4 u lets talk business.

i have uploaded a short script to generate valid gsm numbers for those who may find it useful.

What kind of a coder will indicate interest in a project he has no idea of, presented by someone he has never heard of, to work together with a team of coders that will be selected by someone who cannot code at all, for no fee at all and no other motivation?
That programmer must be really idle or really poor at his game.

i have written even an 80 puzzle code in flash/actionscript as game and i felt the problem you posted was simple thats y i left the solution to those who would find it challenging enuf lest i kill the thread early. In a bid to encourage them, i wrote that JS code to help them in solving the puzzle.

I solve a lot of maths related programming problems by using o'level mathematics.
All the Laplace transform and Fourier series i learnt in my B.Sc Engineering has had little or no role to play in my programming, just secondary school maths and little a'level once in a while.

I recommend u properly refresh and understand the logic behind every math topic in the senior secondary school syllabus. You may try to overlook them or underestimate them but believe me, they form the basis of every math problem you will ever face. Focus more on the logic and less on the arithmetics. That will not take u long and i believe its a good start.


This recommendation is on the assumption that u are not into low level programming. At least i know u do more of php, JS and stuff like that.

After all said and done, not being good with numbers should not stop you from attempting to become a programmer. Afterall, a lot of people learn on the job and still perform well.

Infact, if u need to program specialized application, u will be given a specialist to work with.
In developing the Tax EDBMS for Lagos State IRS, i had to be reporting to tax professionals and chattered accountants who evaluated every step for consistency with the professional tax instructions/documentation and training given to me.

The fact that maths is not used extensively in an application does not make the application less standard in any way.

Being good in maths is not a requirement for programming especially in serverside scripting but it could be an advantage. For instance:

You will not need plenty maths when designing a simple php file uploader but you will require tremendous maths when designing an advanced javascript gallery or a javascript game.

I have done lots of programs & games in flash/actionscript 1,2 & 3 and also in javascript so my understanding of maths helped me a lot. Take for instance, in the development of a paint estimator software for architects that required drawing, painting and calculation of paint required for buildings with complicated figures, i leveraged on my understanding of permutation and combination, matrix and determinants, interpolation, geometry and also trigonometry.
There is no way in the world i would have done that project without maths. That's beyond fundamentals.

If i remember well, word problems are part of mathematics, so are inequalities, linear equations, sets, matrix and determinants, interpolation, progressions, geometry e.t.c.
If u call urself a programmer and you do not understand the fundamentals of mathematics, then u r out of the game in no time. However, while it is necessary to understand the fundamentals, being good in maths will make u faster, better and able to handle a wider range of problems.

There are places that i use interpolation to save me the stress of having to write very long codes in simple scripts like "Scroll bars for actionscript"
