In my opinion, he is planning to finish learning programming b4 starting anything tangible and that's a grave mistake. U never finish learning programming. Programming is a journey and not a destination so just tell the guy to go and get a degree instead.

What do you mean that the login is working?
Do you track your logged in users across pages with session using username or userid or any other user unique field? If you do this, all you need to do is query the users table with that field to fetch the user data you need.

I suggest you edit your post and remove the Java and VB. It makes you sound funny requesting for those technologies as a requirement for web developers. You can add PHP and javascript instead.

That was a long time ago. Don't have the javascript codes again but can always rewrite it if i need them.
The logic is simple though:

1. Create empty array
2. set 4 digit prefixes to accept e.g 0802,0803, 0805-0809, 0812-0813,0702-0706. The prefixes should be stored as sting because of the leading zeros
3. randomize the remaining 7 digits
4. pick a random prefix from 2 above and concatenate with 3 above
5. check if result from 4 above exists in array created in 1 above. If yes, discard else insert as the next array element
6. loop 2-5 until array length in 1 above is equal to total gsm nos you wanna generate
7. output array result as you want it

I wrote the script (a more complicated version) about 2 years ago for a client in Ikeja and believe me, i charged him close to 75k for it (he needed it badly under 12 hrs and it was a sunday).
Cant discuss what its about here but trust me, you wont need to ask that question when it is needed.

I've been paid 75k that was later increased to120k by an organisation, 150k, 200k and 300k by different companies and at different points in time.
I wouldn't even take 20k to install joomla on a site.

The amount you are offered depends on how you package yourself and how good you really are. I've attended interviews (about 3 different ones) where i have been offered to become a partner simply because the company cannot afford to pay my baseline and they didn't wanna loose me. If you are offered 20k, then check yourself again and again. You must be doing something the wrong way. Programming is very lucrative in Nigeria, it all depends on you.

I think you should attempt generating random gsm numbers too. Use html form to get your user inputs, then use :

document.getElementById(, ).innerHTML = "output";

to render your result without reloading the page.

I outrightly disagree with you on the issue of "Off the shelf" software. It takes guts and exceptional skills to develop generalised software than it takes to create customized applications. Afterall, almost every developer starts with customized apps.

I believe every coder should aspire to have commercial software that can compete favorably in the market and generate passive income for him so you wont have to spend nights coding for every penny you make. It doesnt even take long to customize my generalised software to meet a clients specification if the pay is good.

I have "generalised software" ^{[as you call it]} that is being sold to companies by some marketers while i sit at home coding other things and at the end, i make money from that software ^{a product i developed last year}.

If your software is as good or even better than the competition, you can use the price and local support advantage to sell it, afterall foreign companies will only give online support in most cases.

I said the same of their site before i joined. But shame cant lemme say the same now cos i am a member and i can develop a better site for them but i did not make a move. The people in NCS are I.T people like you and i. If you don't join, there's no way to make it better. The things you dont like about any organisation can best be changed if you join and voice you opinion.
It is existent and it is running and you wont believe how hard the state chapters(at least, i know of Lagos) are working to make sure I.T is reckoned with in Nigeria and to empower the interested members.

Dont 4get that the proposed ANP might suffer the same fate. Its a question of member input, funding and management.

Association of Nigerian Programmers, hmmmmn

You guys are just trying to start another NCS. After some years, some smaller groups will come up again and say ANP doesn't cater specifically for PHP prorammers and then they'll start Association of Nigerian PHP programmers. I'm a member of Nigerian Computer Society and as far as i'm concerned, No association(NCS, CPN of even your ANP) can be saddled with getting jobs for each member or spewing out codes for them or bringing them together to work on one commercial project or the other.

Most of the people clamoring for ANP have not even tried attending any NCS monthly meeting for free talk less of joining and they think NCS does not cater for software developers. Your ANP project does not have a justifiable basis and as such, i cant be part of it.

I feel some ppl just wanna create an avenue of either collecting dues or driving traffic to one new programmers forum under the name of ANP. Most of the programmers here don't even have a personal website (Say for a few) or a commercial software they can sell and they think its NCS fault that they are not getting jobs or not developing.
