Meanwhile, thunder fire your yansch. That is probably the busiest highway in the country and it took less than six months for gej to vacate office to realize the road needs attention? To campaign for next election,he thought Nigerians will be carried away with that hollow move.

Work had already reach advanced stages on that road during GEJ's tenure, so saying work to begin is either a misunderstanding of simple English or a deliberate attempt to deceive the masses.
So, that terrible state of road is what you think has reached an advanced state of constructionhuh Thunder fire devil...Nigerians don suffer, sub-mediocrity implementation is now hailed as superstar achievement. Na wa o.

NYSCNo Wearing Of Hijab In NYSC Camps, DG Insists by lolaxavier(op): 5:49am On Nov 25, 2015
By Friday Olokor

A group of Muslim youths under the aegis of Muslim Youths in Da’wah on Tuesday at the headquarters of the National Youth Service Corps in Abuja protested against the ban on the use of hijab by female Muslim corps members, especially during orientation camps.

But the Director-General of the NYSC, Brigadier-General, Johnson Olawumi, insisted on the ban, saying it was “for security reasons.”

The national coordinator of LMYiD, Luqman Hassan; and the Deputy Coordinator, Kamarudeen Adefila, had told the NYSC DG that a major protest by Muslims was averted because of the ban on hijab in most orientation camps.

Hassan told the DG, “We are here to discuss with you about the incident that happened recently in various camps across the country. We have a guiding principle which is based on the Holy Q’uran. We are all Nigerians and the principle which guides us is the constitution and the African Charter on Human rights.

“Members of the NYSC are Nigerians who have contributed to the development of this country; female corps members deserve protection by the NYSC. We don’t believe that a female corps member putting on hijab has done any wrong against the Act establishing the NYSC. So they deserve the respect of the NYSC. We have travelled far and wide and visited different camps. Why are the rights of female corps members being infringed upon. We are here to register our displeasure.”

“Many Muslim organisations wanted to protest, but we said wait a while. In fact, we have to intervene to avoid the situation and if Muslims march on the streets, it will attract a lot of negative comments, but people won’t know why we are protesting,” Adefila had added.

In his response, Olawumi said, “Under my leadership, the NYSC will accord respect to every corps member, irrespective of tribe and religion. The incident in Benue State was caused by the use of long hijab. The security situation in the country is tough. There is the danger of somebody using hijab for other reasons.

“There have been cases where young girls put on hijab and eventually turn to suicide bombers. Boko Haram members know how to get at whoever they want as target. That is why we frown at the wearing of long hijab. Please call on all your Muslim youths to be patient and adhere to it, just for a short period during the camp. We frown at long hijab because of the security implication.”

The NYSC DG expressed disappointment in the allegation by the visiting youths.

“Why are you so particular on your alleged infraction on the rights of youths without mentioning any one of such on Christian youths? Produce your evidence, write to us and I can assure you that we will act fast. When the incident in Benue State was reported to us, I swung into action and ensured that the camp commandant was decamped immediately. We are not magicians; if you have any evidence, write to us and we will not hesitate to act.”

The NYSC Legal Adviser, Ahmed Tijani Ibrahim, said the incident in Benue State was under investigation.

He said, “I’m a Muslim and in our camps, I know that we have treated everybody equally. You mentioned the fact that you would have proceeded to protest. Very minor issues could trigger off mass protest.

“We will see the way forward to this complaint. I can assure you that the issue will not be swept under the carpet. The NYSC is very sensitive to the issue of religion and immediately we heard of it, we swung into action and we are on it because issues of religion are very sensitive.”

“Power is a running battle because the saboteurs are still there. We have the potential. We have gas, we have qualified people but we are contending with a lot of saboteurs who go and blow up installations. ABUJA – President Mohammdu Buhari Tuesday said that work would commence on the dilapidated Lagos-Ibadan express way.

This was even as he said that his administration was committed to ending sabotage, theft and vandalization of gas pipeline and other installations which he said has affected power generation and supply in Nigeria.

The president assured that the Minister of Works, Power and Housing, Mr. Babatunde Fashola would address the issue of the collapsed road.

Also to checkmate and end the ugly trend of gas theft, president Buhari announced that the existing Military Task-Forces will be reorganized to ensure a successful protection of the network of gas pipelines.

The president spoke in an interactive session with the members of the Nigerian community in Tehran, Iran on Tuesday.

He noted that “although some improvement in power had been recorded in the recent period,” sabotage of pipeline installations had continued to be a problem.

He said: “Power is a running battle because the saboteurs are still there. We have the potential. We have gas, we have qualified people but we are contending with a lot of saboteurs who go and blow up installations. When gas is pumped to Egbin and such other power stations, thieves and saboteurs such as the militants cut those supplies.”

The president also cited another factor as the reduced role of the government in the sector due to the privatization of the institutions under the Power Handling Company of Nigeria, PHCN in the process of which, he said, the facilities “have been sold to a number of interest groups.”

He however assured that the Military task-forces with representation from the Army, Navy, Air Force, the Police and the secret services will be reconstituted to secure the pipelines.

“Supplies will become steady; there will be less sabotage as we secure the pipelines”, he said.

Responding to a question on the need to improve healthcare delivery, President Buhari said that efforts had been intensified towards ridding the country of fake drugs and fake doctors, and also what he called ” the disgraceful aspects” manifested by ” baby factories.”

He also enumerated several steps being taken towards the revival of education from primary school school level to university.

On the creation of jobs, he placed the prevailing joblessness in the country at the door-step of the last administration which he blamed for giving ” a devastating blow to the economy through corruption and incompetence.”

Speaking on corruption as one of the three issues he identified as the priorities of his administration, President Buhari said that the necessity for compliance with due process of the law was responsible for the delay in the prosecution of the looters of the country’s economy but that the “the day of reckoning is gradually coming.”

He also revealed that a number of past officials had begun the voluntary return of stolen funds but expressed the view that his government was not satisfied with tokens.

“We want to have everything back-all that they took by force in 16 years,” he said.

The immediate family of former Minister of Petroleum, Diezani Alison Madueke seems to have given up hope on the ailing health condition of their daughter.

This is just as the embattled ex-minister has ordered her relatives to jet her back into Nigeria this Friday as her condition grew worse last weekend.

DAILY POST exclusively gathered that the former oil Minister has not been responding to treatment since Thursday, a development that has been given the family sleepless night, hence her decision to return to the country in other to seek for spiritual help.

Mrs. Madueke has been bedridden in a London hospital following her removal as overseer of the oil ministry by the new government of President Buhari.

She’s said to be battling cancer.

A close insider who would not want his name in print, hinted DAILY POST that the family has concluded plans to visit popular Lagos-based Prophet, T.B Joshua of the Synagogue Church of All Nations for prayers.

“They have decided to fly her back into the country this Friday to seek for spiritual help. The condition worsened last weekend and she personally asked the family to return her to the country.

“She has not tasted any solid food since last Monday. She did not speak throughout Thursday. When she eventually spoke Friday morning, she ordered them to return her to the country to visit Prophet T. B Joshua for prayers,” the insider further added.

Meanwhile, the ailing former Minister had in a recent interview denied stealing a dime while in office.

According to her, she left $5.6billion in the NLNG account, contrary to the report that she milked the nation treasury dry before leaving office.

“I actually left $5.6billion in the NLNG alone but no one is talking about it. I’m not seeking to be praised but to be acknowledged that I made some little contributions.

“That money could have been wasted on frivolities but I was determined to keep something for the incoming government once we lost the election,” she said.

The Oyo state Police Command has arrested a 30-year-old man, one Hassan Maikudi alongside five Fulani men suspected to be members of a notorious kidnapping and armed robbery gang who for years had allegedly terrorized Okeho and Iganna communities in the state.

Maikudi, The Sun reports, led the gang to kidnap his own father and collected a ransom of N1.5 million before releasing him.

The Inspector General of Police, Mr. Solomon Arase, while parading the suspects, said when police invaded their hide-out, some of the suspects fled into the bush, while the police recovered the sum of N200,000 and several charms allegedly used in evading arrest from the apprehended suspects. They were identified as Damanya Gambo, 30, Usman Saidu, 30, Abubakar Abubakar, 28, Abdullahi Mohammed, 35 and Usman Idris, 33.

On their arrest, one of the suspects, 35-year-old Mohammad, a Fulani from Kwara State who claimed to be a graduate of Mathematics, said he is married to two wives and has three children. He said it was his quest to be a rich man that landed him into crime.

According to him, “Before I was arrested, I was a teacher and I quit my job because I wanted to join the Nigerian Army. I applied but I wasn’t admitted. I obtained an Ordinary National Diploma from Kwara State Polytechnic in Mathematics and Statistics in 2005 and I went further to obtain a B.Sc in Mathematics from Kwara State University and I graduated in 2009, before proceeding for National Youth Service.

“I started working in 2011. I got a job at a private secondary school in Okeho where I taught Physics and Mathematics and I earned N15000 monthly. I was very popular among most residents of the area especially people of my tribe. I grew up in that area with my parents and siblings. I was also staying there with my wives and children. Though most of my friends who knew I was well educated, knew I wasn’t making enough money from my job.

“Few years ago, two of them, Damanya and Abubakar, approached me with an idea, that since I was highly respected and well known in the community, I could always make good money for myself, by giving them information about rich people residing in the community. I asked what they needed to do with such information, they said in most cases they will either rob or kidnap such persons.

“I told them that I can’t do such because my eyes are very bad, and I could barely see at night. Damanya told me that all they needed was for me to always look out for potential targets and when identified, in the case of kidnapping, I will be on ground to gather intelligence from relatives of the victims.

“In other cases, he said I will have to trail and give them information on persons they want to rob. So I eventually joined them, he added.

Recounting some of their exploits, Mohammad said, “We did a couple of jobs. I gave them information when they wanted to rob a cattle rearer after he has sold cattle. I informed them when the man came home and I followed him secretly until he mounted a motorcycle. I gave them that information, and by evening, news went round that the man had been robbed and the money he made from the sale of his cattle was carted away.

“In that operation, I got N40,000 as my share of the loot,” the father of three said.

According to him, there were several other times they blocked the highway leading to the border and robbed traders going for their businesses across the border.

“We dispossess traders of their monies. When they returned, they will bring my own share; this is because they don’t want me to tell anyone who carried out those operations.

“There were several operations we did together and I usually got my share but last month they went and kidnapped one Alhaji Maikudi, who is a rich cattle rearer. It was his son, Hassan, who brought the job and I don’t know what his reason was.

“Hassan is also my friend,” Mohammad continued, “but he works with his father as a herdsman and they have several cows. He gave the information to Danmayan and they kidnapped his father and took him into the bush and kept him there for one week before a N1.5million was paid as ransom before he was released.

“During the operation, I was in the community monitoring what was happening. I was attending meetings and I took part in planning how we will go and look for Alhaji Maikudi. My father also took part in the search. He was also in the bush looking for Alhaji.

“Some of my gang members were also with them and they were always relaying information to those keeping Alhaji. On my part, I was always giving them information about any plan that was to be carried out in the community. At the end, Hassan ensured that the sum of N1.5million was paid as ransom after some of his father’s cattles were sold. He got N700,000 as his own share, while, I, Abubakar, Damanya and Saidu, got N200, 000 each.

“I had barely spent my own money when I was arrested by the police. I was picked up in a bar, where I had gone to have some drinks. The policemen were also in the bar drinking and I didn’t know that they were policemen.

“I liked the way they were seated and offered to buy them some drinks, but before I knew what was happening, I was arrested and whisked away. I thought the policemen were from Ibadan on routine raid and I threatened to call my lawyer, it was when I got here that I realised that I was in a deep mess.

“I told the police the role I played and took them to my house and handed over my N200, 000 share of the ransom,” he added.

HARARE:
A 42-year-old unemployed man was crowned Zimbabwe’s ugliest man at a pub pageant in Harare — but the contest turned ugly when the runner-up accused judges of bias.

Maison Sere, who was missing several teeth and dressed in torn overalls, beat off five other contestants for the $500 Mr Ugly prize — a large sum in a country facing massive unemploment.

“I want to thank God for winning this title, last time I came fourth. I just want to thank the judges for recognising me as the winner,” Sere told journalists during a night of festivities Friday attended by 200 revellers.

But William Masvinu, a three-time Mr Ugly winner who walked off with a $100 second prize this year, cried foul.

“The judges were not fair, the organisers must look for new judges to start the contest afresh. I did not lose today,” Masvinu said.

Show organiser David Machowa said he created the pageant in 2012 to celebrate “beauty in ugliness”.

“The show last night was very successful, and I still have plans to host Mr Ugly world,” he said.
