Only 2 hours and u dey cry. I bin think say na for 2 days. U no come see taxi drivers for here wey be say na only 1 passenger dem carry for whole 1 week. By the way, you can cry an ocean, I won't still enter your taxi. After all that happened, it is natural for anyone to be hypersensitive because natural instinct kicks in. If after the whole event dies down, then I can become more relaxed and take your taxi but as the crisis is still fresh, mba, I no take. |
Lagos—Doctors at a private hospital at Ire-Akari Estate in Isolo area of Lagos State are battling to save the life of a malnourished seven-year-old primary school pupil, who slumped and lost consciousness in school. The victim, identified as Ifechukwu Jubilee, also had visible marks of violence all over her body. She was reportedly sent to school last Friday by her guardian, identified as Ngozi, on an empty stomach. Her guardian, according to neighbours at their 19 Owofuju Street, allegedly beat the girl, her niece, at the slightest provocation. Neighbours also told Vanguard that the act usually led to arguments between her and her husband, who often frowned at his wife’s maltreatment of the girl. … on Friday morning She was woken up from sleep last Friday morning and asked to carry out home chores before leaving for school. Ifechukwu was said to have strayed into one of the rooms in the apartment and slept off, which angered her aunt who then beat her and sent her to school without food. Ifechukwu, a primary 2 pupil, reportedly left home in tears, only to slump hours after getting to school— Ire-Akari Model Primary School. Teacher’s observation One of the teachers, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said: “She looked very pale and weak when she came to school, with her hands swollen and injuries in some parts of her body. “It was when she fainted that we knew something was wrong. When she came out of coma, her first words were that she was hungry and narrated how her aunt usually beat her with a hard object. “We thank God she did not die in the school. How would we have been able to explain that kind of situation?” Husband’s reaction Her husband visited her at the station and told her not to set her feet in his house again. He told Vanguard: “Only God knows what I am going through in my wife’s hands. I have cautioned her several times over the manner she beats the little girl. This is the last straw.” Meanwhile, a non-governmental organization, Women Right and Health Project, has promised to follow up the investigation and ensure the victim was safe. Weeping profusely, the suspect, a 25-year-old mother of one, begged for mercy, saying she acted out of anger, as she had been taking good care of the girl. She was released because she is pregnant. http://www.vanguardngr.com/2015/11/underfed-7-yr-old-girl-slumps-in-school/ |

https://blog.avacubes.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/11/IMG_00003136.jpg CALABAR- IRATE Youths on Saturday evening smashed the head of a truck driver with a pestle after his truck crushed the head of a young man who was a guest at a traditional wedding ceremony in the area. The truck which went to deliver PMS at Eddy Excel Filling Station located at No 50, Palm Street was driving out of the place after discharging the product when it crushed the head of one of Francis who was attending a traditional wedding taking place opposite the station prompting irate youths to chase after the driver when he tried to escape and smashed his head with a mortar pestle. “The driver had finished discharging fuel and was driving out when I heard kup kup as he was trying to apply breaks to slow the truck down but the truck kept going and the wedding guests who were seated on one side of the road took to their heels but Francis did not see the truck early enough and it crushed his head”. A resident of the area who gave his name as Ndarake narrated to Vanguard . He said the victim who was seated was trying to light a cigarette and did not see the truck early enough to make good his escape alongside others so the truck crushed him from behind spilling out his brain on the tar. “All we heard was kpoo and his brain was scattered on the road and when people saw what had happened, they went after the truck driver”. After killing the driver, the mob went after the filling station and pulled down all the eight service pumps, ransacked the offices and destroyed the glass doors and windows. “They attempted to set the place ablaze but I appealed to them not to because my apartment is very close to the filling station and any fire will extend to all the houses around the neighbourhood”. He said According to him, from the reaction of the mob, had the owner of the station, Edet Wawawa been within the place, he would have also been attacked because of the anger that less than a year the station began operation in the place, they have been five deaths . “This station opened in November last year, and in December, armed robbers attacked the place and killed three persons residing within this street and now two persons have died so the people are very angry with him”. When Vanguard visited the station, policemen in three Operation Skolombo trucks were seen guarding the place and one of them said they were dispatched by the Divisional Police Officer for the Atakpa Police Station at about 8 pm to the place and before their arrival, it had been ransacked by the mob. http://www.vanguardngr.com/2015/11/mob-butchers-truck-driver-for-crushing-wedding-guest/ http://blog.avacubes.com/mob-butchers-truck-driver-for-crushing-wedding-guest/ |

https://cdn.dailypost.ng/wp-content/uploads/2015/11/Pro-Biafra.jpg?fbe18f The All Progressives Congress (APC) South-East zone, has appealed to the Movement for Actualization of Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB) and similar groups to stop “their war drum”, as it could scuttle the quest for Nigeria president of Igbo extraction in 2023. The APC’s stand came in reaction to the spate of mass action by Pro-Biafra agitators. Spokesman of South-East APC Leadership Caucus, Mr Osita Okechukwu made this appeal in a statement on Sunday. He stated that “whereas we agree that there is gross unemployment, discontent and despondency among youths in the land; however it is not peculiar to the South East alone. The gross unemployment is nationwide and would be addressed holistically, luckily our son distinguished senator Chris Ngige is the minister in charge of employment.” Okechukwu appealed to pro-Biafra agitators to stop their mass action and drums of war in the overall interest of the Ndigbo at home, across the country and abroad. He noted that “our record shows that it’s better to jaw-jaw than to war-war. Dialogue is the best solution, albeit we are doing relatively well across the country and our human development index is one of the highest.” According to the APC chieftain, “Ndigbo must be strategic in our agitation, as every evidence suggests that we would be one of the greatest beneficiaries of the progressive and prosperous Nigeria being constructed by President Muhammadu Buhari. “We cannot act like the rodent inside the deep hole for years, only to revolt when it was about to be freed. Methinks that this is not the best of times to hype and escalate the agitation for Biafra, because President Buhari has pledged to resuscitate the dilapidated federal roads in the South East, revamp Enugu Coal, fix 2nd Niger Bridge and other physical infrastructure. “For Mr. President, his word is his bond. Critical analysis posits that after his 2nd tenure, it will be the turn of the South East to produce Nigeria president of Igbo extraction. “Is it not paradoxical that the Pro-Biafra agitators were not this hyper-active in the sixteen years when the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), a party Ndigbo gave unprecedented and overwhelming support, without commensurate reward, was in power at the center? “Does it mean that the promoters didn’t see anything wrong when former president Goodluck Jonatlhan, our adopted son, allowed federal roads in the South East to unimaginable decay, couldn’t award the 2nd Niger Bridge on contract bases like Owete Bridge and couldn’t revamp Enugu Coal? “Available evidence shows that the promoters of the mass action are suspect, as they neither sampled the views of majority of Ndigbo at home or in Dutse – Jigawa, in Akure – Ondo, in Oron – Akwa Ibom nor Ndigbo in Lagos, Kano and Abuja.” When asked what made him think Ndigbo would produce president in 2023, Okechukwu quipped: “Going by the zoning convention, equity and natural justice, surely the president will rotate to the South in 2023. “And when the president rotates to the South in 2023, we have all the cards stacked in our favour to appeal to our brothers in the South West who have had eight years stint and our South South brothers who had five years plus in the presidency since 1999 when the 4th Republic commenced.” He remarked that “every rational indicator favours Ndigbo and so, we need to guide our hate propaganda and wait patiently to harvest the turn of the South East. To be frank this is the golden opportunity for us to join the mainstream, and it should not be scuttled by Pro-Biafra agitators.” On whether the APC would honour zoning convention when it is not in its constitution, Okechukwu said that “in liberal democracy, there is the law and there is the convention, but convention more often prevails than the law, because of its moral weight.” Okechukwu maintained that more than any other factor, it was breach of the zoning convention that signaled the exit of the former President, Dr. Goodluck Jonathan from Aso Villa. When asked the role played by corruption in majority of Nigerians voting Jonathan out, he agreed that corruption definitely was one of the factors that led to Jonathan’s defeat, but that the most prominent was the breach of the zoning convention. Okechukwu noted that APC benefitted immensely from this zoning breach, as the North out of enlightened patriotic interest in 1999 zoned the president to the South, expecting that in eight years it will be their turn, but were short changed. Okechukwu expressed his sincere belief that the two major political parties, the APC and PDP would obey the zoning convention after President Muhammadu Buhari’s eight years regime. “Therefore, instead of agitating for Biafra, Ndigbo should think out of the box and put all hands on the deck, support Buhari to actualise this noble objective”, he advised. http://dailypost.ng/2015/11/15/biafra-agitation-could-scuttle-igbo-presidency-apc-warns/ |

https://cdn.dailypost.ng/wp-content/uploads/2015/11/Buhari_meets_nigerians.jpg?fbe18f Some accredited oil subsidy marketers on Thursday said the failure of Federal Government to release the approved N413 billion subsidy debt in order to avoid disrupting their fuel importation schedule. The marketers made their feelings known in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos. They said they were concerned that the money had not been released one week after the approval was granted. The marketers alleged that the delay was affecting loading activities at depots and had led to the shutting down of some filling stations due to non-availability of petroleum products. “Government, through the Central Bank of Nigeria, has not released any subsidy claims as promised. “As I am talking to you we have been directed by the CBN to go and meet the Debt Management Office for clarification. “All our efforts to get the said money have been in vain and to start importing has been a serious problem. “There is no money to back up the cheques presented to the marketers. “We do not even know the basis for the clarification of the cheques, but we are aware that there is no money in the account. “It is like giving the marketers cheques only to discover that there was no money in the account. “Nothing like importing now because all marketers are angry because of the failed promised,” one of the marketers al The market said; “If you go outside Lagos you know how much they are selling fuel per litre now, it is the last stock that we are selling now. “It is unfortunate that the Department of Petroleum (DPR) is saying that we are hoarding the products, which is not the truth. “We have not collected a single coin from the money. “If not the fact that some of the marketers are making some money from other products, how do you think we will be able to get anything for now? “We have been summoned by DPR for a meeting this morning to settle the crisis, we are only managing what we have in stock at present,” he said. NAN recalls that the Federal Government, had on Nov. 3, approved the sum of N413 billion to petroleum products marketers as the outstanding payment for subsidy claims. https://cdn.dailypost.ng/wp-content/uploads/2014/12/Nigerian-army.jpg?fbe18f The Nigerian Army has warned its officers and men engaged in internal security coordination with the Nigeria Police Force to be alive to their responsibilities of adequate protection of lives and property and desist from taking sides. It warned that officers found taking sides in any internal insurrection or failing to perform their responsibility as expected would face the consequences of their actions. In a reminder of the Nigerian Army Rule of Engagement (ROE) for Internal Security Operations (Operation Mesa) obtained by PRNigeria from the Acting Director of Army Public Relations, Col Sani Usman, the force frowned against “the observed short comings especially negligence and outright ignorance displayed by troops deployed for Operation MESA and other Internal Security (IS) Operations.” “For the avoidance of doubt, the ROE and Code of Conduct set out the circumstances and limitations, under which armed force may be applied to achieve military objectives in furtherance of government policy within Operation MESA and other IS Operations.” “Any officer or soldier found aiding or abetting any act of arson, vandalism or unprofessional conduct, would be severely dealt with according to the extant laws.” Once deployed on any internal security (IS) operation, Usman said “it is the duty of an officer or soldier to ensure the enforcement of law and order in conjunction with other security agencies.” He reminded troops that they are duty bound to intervene in any situation to avoid a breakdown in peace, stability or law and order of an area where they are deployed. “It is inexcusable for troops to stand aside and watch the security situation deteriorate leading to loss of lives or damage to property without intervening. Such intervention should, however, be based strictly on sound judgement and within the ambit of the code of conduct for IS Operations while exhibiting good professional ethics”, he added. Citing Sect 217 (2) (c) of the 1999 Constitution (as amended), which provides that the Armed Forces of Nigeria (AFN) shall suppress insurrection and act in aid of civil authority to restore order when called upon to do so by the President, Commander-in-Chief reinforced by Sect ( (1) and (3) of the Armed Forces Act, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria, (LFN) 2004, the Army declares “this presupposes that troops have to use necessary force to quell crisis resulting in deaths, injury and damages to properties”.Other highlights of the ROE include: Principle of minimum force and proportionality must be applied at all times; whenever operational situation permits, every reasonable effort shall be made to control the situation through measures short of using force, including personal contact and negotiations; the use of lethal force shall only be resorted to if all other means to control the situation have failed or in case of unexpected attack or suspected Improvised Explosive Device (IED) attack during which a delay could lead to loss of life or serious injury to personnel; and that any force applied must be limited in its intensity and duration; it must also be commensurate with the level of threat posed. Others are that: force shall be used only when absolutely necessary to achieve an immediate aim; the decision to open fire shall be made only on orders and under the control of on-scene commander, unless there is insufficient time to obtain such order. Fire can however be opened if the life of a soldier, any law abiding member of the public and/or property of which it is our duty to protect is in grave danger; fire must be aimed and controlled. Indiscriminate firing is not permitted. Also: Fire may be opened to forcefully stop any vehicle that fails to stop at a checkpoint or road block when ordered to stop for search; automatic fire will only be opened as a last resort; avoid collateral damage; after fire has ceased, render medical assistance and record details of incident both in writing and using audio/visual equipment whether or not casualty has been recorded; and whenever in doubt, seek clarification from higher headquarters. http://dailypost.ng/2015/11/12/army-warns-personnel-to-be-active-gives-shoot-at-sight-order/ |

This is Christantus Macaulay & Toni Kroos. They both played in 2007 FIFA U-17 World Cup in Korea. Both claim to be 25. However, one currently plays for one of the biggest club in the world and has won a World Cup Medal while the other signed in Feb 2015 with Greek side AEK Athens on a 18 months deal with an option of a further two years based on performance. What are your thoughts? I know mine and my guess would probably be as good as yours. Let me hear yours first.

It has been 15 years since the Nokia 3310 launched. And not a day goes by when we don't long for the week-long battery life it gave us. With its monochrome screen and Snake II, it is a classic that should belong in the phone hall of fame -- if one exists. After it was launched on September 1, 2000, the phone sold 126 million models over the next 11 years. In addition to endless games of Snake ll it also took the pressure off sending texts by giving us a limit of 459 characters. Yes, we loved those long text messages. Despite being a not-so-smartphone, it is one we will continue to miss. Many took to social media to express their appreciation and nostalgia: http://www.huffingtonpost.co.uk/2015/09/02/nokia-3310-celebrates-15-years-since-its-launch_n_8076580.html
