Very informative. Most dudes wont share this. Are you saying online degrees are not recog. in some countries?
Well, it is recognised in the UK. But I am NOT SURE if it is in Nigeria. It is only a wise course of wisdom to BE SURE of whatever you want to do.

davidfajum:
Most guys has spoken well on this. My take is this for you to upgrade your HND you have 3 option

1. Take direct Entry to any Nigeria University and start either from 200 Level or 300 Level depend on your course and the school
2. Travel abroad after gaing admission from here and go and complete your top Up degree
3. Do online courses and within a year you have your BSC or BTech pending on your area of specialization.

I can talk more on the 3rd one because i have done it and still doing it.

you can apply to - http://www.unisa.ac.za/default.html and within a year you are through with your Btech because you will be exempted in many courses since you have HND. for me i was advised to do Industrial Project and was given a Btech in Electrical-Telecommunication option.
if you are interested in this, this is how to go about it.
1. Apply on the portal
2. pay the application fee of 100 rands via a visa card equivalent to 15 dollars or so
3.Apply to SAQA for result verification ( you will need to send all your result,OND,HND and ssce and if your SSCE is from 2000 and above you will need to add WAEC scratch card for verification) The cost associated to that is around 70dollars or so wire transfer -http://www.saqa.org.za/
4. send The Certificate from SAQA and other document to UNiSA via online
5. Once Admitted you will be given all need and an account opened for you and you pay for the exams ( Note that exams is usually done in SA embassy in Lagos and Abuja
6. The fee is very cheap less than 150k for my own case i paid less than 100k.
and within a year you get your Result after successful completion of the required subject max 8.

Part B.
you can also do an online via : http://www.herts.ac.uk/courses/subjects/computer_science_and_it/online_learning.cfm
and you shall do 4 courses in all( 3 academics and one Project) with each course billed at 250 pounds and the total course will be amounting to 1000 Pounds.

So bros, choose which you deem fit you. But know fully well that Nigeria is tilting away from Academics but Performance. I will advice any one that i am opportune to talk to to be self reliance and be a force to reckon with in any place or field you find yourself stead of believing on Degree or what so call.
my friends has completed this and has finished their Msc also from same University-
Well researched and on point.
I took the Option2 and the studies lasted for about 15months.
However, I am wary about online courses. You have to be sure it is acceptable/recognised in your intended country of residence before investing the time and money into it

the guys talking about him wearing protective gear and poo are funny. No amount of protective sh1t could have saved him. i guess he wanted to detonate the bomb and he couldnt have done that without opening the bag. I blame whoever sent him to do the job without educating him on how he could have detonated the bomb and save his own life.
That is ABSOLUTELY FALSE.

There are protective gears for bomd disposal experts. Look at some pics in the earlier pages of this tread. I am also aware that NPF has bomb disposal units which I want to believe are adequately equiped and educated on handling a case like this.

Some people suggested his swagger suggested he was part of the team, but I strongly disagree. I rather saw it as sheer recklessness on his part.

Really smart of you, stirring a suspected bomb package with a stick? that's really ingenious of you.

No armor in this world could have saved him from such close-quarters explosion, the fault lies with the procedure of the bomb detonating unit cos it seemed that bomb was detonated remotely which means this could have been avoided if all cell signals within that particular block radius had been jammed.

RIP Sgt. Badang, you died a victim of NPF's inadequacies.
No one ordinarily would have been killed, because people were already aware and some safe distance kept from the material bomb.

From my own layman point of view, he/his bosses should have called and waited for bomb disposal unit of the NPF to finish up the task.

The best they could do was to have fenced off the area which had been done. So why further Macho show!!!!

He wanted apperently to steal show but somehow was too expensive a price to pay

I was in primary 2 then.  Incidentally, my primary school was just adjacent to the famous Lion Building in the Island. (W.J. David Memorial Baptist School)

I could recall the School Headmaster called everyone to an assembly point and directed all to go home. There were heavily armed policemen and soldiers everywhere. I was not scared largely because I believed  there was no way these guys with guns would see an innocent young boy as a threat. There was chaos everywhere

But my parents were surprised I had gotten home on my own and even earlier than my Dad who had left to pick me. Before then my dad would always drop me at school and mum picked me up after school hours. That was my own first independence, because, thereafter I was allowed to go places on my own.

I enjoyed every Feb13 public holiday in honor of Mutala. I had a vest with his photo print on it. Really good old days

Your marriage is worth every effort to SAVE. Your attraction to this other woman is purely on lust.

Why not consider going on vacation with your wife, away from daily routines and worries. Unwind and have 1 to 1 open discussion. Whatever the problems, they can be sorted out. So you need at least  be positive.

By virtue of their makeup, women like to be cherished, appreciated and in constant need of confirmation of your love and commitment. Your attitude, responses and well spoken words will do more than even material gifts.

Do not break another man's home. in fact what gives you the confidence that the man will not turn on you and get you injured or killed by assasins in the process. Be careful. No man will look favorably on his rival.

@op, the previous poster said it all.
Yes, he has said it all. I agree without any reservation

Even if your Degree course takes 5 years, see that as a SACRIFICE to make and spare yourself of a potential 'had I Know' in the future. I suffered discrimination at my former work some years back on this HND/BSC contention. Thanks to God, I now have my Degree even from a prestigious Uni in the UK. But if I were in your shoes, you need not be a genius to know what my decision would be.

Age is also very much on your side. But remember, whatever is worth doing, is worth doing well. You will be very proud of yourself as a Uni Graduate than any other.

But please, I did not & do not mean to disrespect HND holders. Many of them are well rounded professionals, well respected and doing well. But we are only talking about acceptance in the corporate world which leaves little or none to be desired. Some companies would not even consider anything less than first degree

Sowore has made my day!

How could a Minister come late at all not to talk of being late for more than 90minutes? It's unthinkable. You just don't go late to events and start giving useless excuses about flight delays or whatever.

The approach was not just effective, it sent a message, and a very powerful one at that, that these meaningless, wasteful and utterly useless town hall meetings in US while, ignoring the real epicenter of our trouble which is right in Nigeria, would no longer be accepted.
A minister flying first class over all over the world organizing town hall meetings! Of what use is that town hall meeting? who do they want to convince, persuade, re orientate, on a policy which finality of Jonathan's position is not in question? Three ministers in foreign ministry alone when there is no pax Nigeriana anywhere! We are not a world power, not an african power, weak military except to harass peaceful protesters, we are not even an economic powerhouse, we are not fighting war and we have three ministers in a ministry. What manner of expensive diplomacy is Jonathan running? Jonathan is wasteful!

Can one see how civilized police treat people? I leave it to your imagination to fathom what would have happened had the event been staged in Nigeria. The useless, corrupt and incompetent police boss would have threaten them with treason!
I was imppressed with the protest and your post as well. You spoke well

I will advise you not to ship car parts arbitrarily. if you make good use of this forum (as some do) you can make shipments only on special requests (sometimes called pre-order). send a picture of what you intend shipping to whosoever is making the requests to gain his approval and satisfaction with the part(s) you are shipping, else your goods may face serious challenges such as incessant rejections based on irrelevant criticisms. Nigerians are very selective (I must say) and are also high falutin critics. They may request for a particular product, but on arrival, will bluntly reject it citing frivolous excuses. so, in a nut shell, be sure they are satisfied with what they see, make them pay some form of initial deposit (just to get their financial commitment), ship the parts and ask for your balance to be paid into your account on collection. Hope that helps.
You are on spot. Good point

@burgerking

This is a trade that is very, very fragile, very delicate
I do not mean to scare you, but you have to tread carefully. I once went into the trade but my experience was not funny.

Here are the potential dangers
  1. Market demand changes very frequently. The theory of  demand of supply is very stong here if you know what I mean.
  2. Whoever is buying from you wants to buy at the least possible price. He doesn't care if you are making any profit or otherwise. Some are very greedy.
  3. Selling on credit is at times inevitable and should that happen, the concern is -- would you be able to get the whole sum back at agreed date?
  4. If you have a space allocated to you in the market to sell your wares, you are paying rent on the space which gets burdensome if you can not sell early enough
  5. If somebody must sell for you, then make sure he is not one of the market agents/touts or whatever they are called. The problem with these guys is  they add up their own interest on your asking price. They look for a profit margin that you who have laboured to get the goods down do not have. They may be calling you on phone that somebody is about to pay a price lower than your price, meanwhile the customer is paying much higher. They are very terrible guys.

Do your homework and outsidework very well and I wish you all the best

The point Haboosa is making is simple - The operation of the NP in that place is questionable.

The guy has committed no wrong if there were no signs and he is even in a position to sue NP and NRC in the eventy of any accident. I am bold to say the guy will laugh last if it were in developed world
PoliticsRe: Nigerian Police Harassment @ Jibowu Railway Track by lond07: 12:41pm On Aug 19, 2011
oohunt,

Where there is no law, there is no crime.

Did you observe if there was any road sign making it UNLAWFUL if you stayed on the track like the yellow line marking as OFF SIDE?

If there were none, then tell me what law have  you contravened!!!

If it were simply the 'conscious' awareness for the safety and the authorities concenrned have not provided a barier or at worst a road sign, then who should have been liable?

Even in the US/UK, there is no rail crossing without a barier/road sign. so do not compare these places to Nigeria. I live in the UK and know pretty well what applies here. You have simply fell into the booty trap of the NP who take delight in extorting you.

I was once stopped by the police while making a u-turn under National Stadium bridge (coming from oju elegba). The policeman argued that I was not supposed to turn mean while there was no road sign.

After a long argument/counter argumnet, his boss intervened and allowed me to go . Of course never paid a kobo. I was dead determined to report them and escalate the issue to every quarters and to the press.

Next time nknow your right abnd make good defence

Check out this

“For there are three witness bearers, the spirit and the water and the blood, and the three are in agreement.”—1Jo 5:7, 8.
This rendering is in agreement with the Greek texts by C. Tischendorf (eighth ed., 1872); Westcott and Hort (1881); Augustinus Merk (ninth ed., 1964); José María Bover (fifth ed., 1968); United Bible Societies (third ed., 1975); Nestle-Aland (26th ed., 1979).
After “witness bearers” the cursive mss No. 61 (16th century) and No. 629 (in Latin and Greek, 14th to 15th century) and Vgc add the words: “in heaven, the Father, the Word and the holy spirit; and these three are one. (cool And there are three witness bearers on earth.” But these words are omitted by אABVgSyh,p.

Search out these references before you talk further PLEEEEEEEEASE!!!

I love your understanding of the Bible and doctrines.
I want to ask. Do Jehovah Witness member believe in tithing, first-fruit, etc.
Thank you

Tithing and 1st fruits contributions were part of the regulations in law of Moses.

They have been abolished alongside animal sacrifices (Galatians 3:23-25)

So no longer a requirement for Xtians, but what God requires is a willing / voluntary contributions (1Cor 16:2) which may /maynot be more than 10%

Yes, I think they are right in this. When I went through the bible, especially in the new testament, the 'Amen' was used in the end of the book after a prayer.

Consider Ephesians 3:14 - 20, Hebrews 13:20, and reply with how many AMEN is said there pls

HI LOL,

THE CHOICE IS ACTUALLY YOURS TO MAKE - DEAL OR NO DEAL

HOWEVER, YOU NEED TO KNOW THAT THE CURRENT IMMIGRATION LAW IN THE UK REQUIRES YOU TO RETURN HOME AFTER YOUR STUDIES. SO DELETE WORKING IN THE UK AFTER YOUR STUDIES FROM THE LIST OF OPTIONS OPENED TO YOU.

AND IF YOU MUST RETURN TO NIGERIA, WILL YOUR PROPOSED STUDIES EQUIP YOU TO BE SELF EMPLOYED IF THE EXPECTED JOB SEEMS NOT COMING ?

UNIVERSITY RATING IS NO ISSUE. YOU DON'T GET JOB SIMPLY BECAUSE YOU GRADUATED FROM CAMBRIDGE. WHAT GIVES YOU JOB AT THE END OF THE DAY IS 1. GOD'S FAVOUR 2. YOUR PERFORMANCE. SO SHOULD YOU DECIDE TO COME, THEN MAKE SURE YOU ARE WELL BAKED IN WHAT YOU STUDIED.

WHY NOT ALSO CONSIDER USA/CANADA AS SOME HAVE SUGESTED? THESE ARE STILL OPEN TO YOU AND MORE LIKELY THESE COUNTRIES WILL ALLOW YOU TO INTEGRATE INTO THEIR WORKFORCE AFTER YOUR STUDIES (NOT TOO SURE, PLS CONFIRM)

COUNT THE COST BEFORE YOU JUMP AND MAKE SURE YOU HAVE CONTIGENCIES IN PLACE.
REMEMBER THE OLD SAYINGS - "THE HEAVENS HELP THOSE HOW HELPED THEMSELVES". PLS BE REALSTIC TO YOUR SELF
