tashanja: Its already in 9ja. A laboratory based assessment report by FMOH in 2007 on some test kits available in the Nigerian market, included also a saliva based RTK.How accurate are those things? I would be wary of such as test results. I was told of a fingerprint test, which is 100% accurate and takes about 15 minutes when I visited a GUM centre for a s.exual health MOT – this I can rely on. Unfortunately, they told me this after saying it would take 2 weeks to get my test results, when I was already scared silly. Apparently, the 2 weeks included sending my samples to other clinics for verification. Freaking sadists, I tell you. |
So what’s the name of your ‘wonder’ software? This could be defined as a form of stalking, you know. |
Does it translate text messages and voice calls from one language to another? Say, I am a Naija boy and my girlfriend is Swahili, will your software translate the proof/evidence for me? |
DaShyGuy: For me, imma walk up to her, and with my head bowed low, i'll quietly tell her i've been a fool, i know, i've hurt her beyond words, yes i know, am not worthy to be called her husband anymore, all i seek for, is just her forgiveness,if she can find it deep in her heart to forgive me.Hmm, badt and sharp guy, sounds like you are speaking from experience. Excellent analysis nevertheless, will save to ‘potential cheat’ area of my memory just in case, lol. |
Too long, still, you are right. |
Bad for business, maybe? If the impossible became possible, some ‘atheists or doubters’ may believe the Doctors original analysis was wrong – just a thought. |
It’s still, in each case, the individual artist’s point of view, nothing new really. As with surveys, the results probably reflect the author’s beliefs. I’m sure if Africans had painted the white man after their first encounter, it would be with some sort of Godlike ability. I mean you see how celebrities are practically worshipped today. I watched History Channel’s ‘Ancient Aliens’ where the ideas were similar to yours, as they said aliens may have helped shape modern civilisation through the use of advanced technologies (you should watch this too). However, as usual, they had nothing concrete, just talk about amazing structures and super advanced technologies that may have been used to erect them, leaving more questions than answers. |
Buhahaha. Maybe the animals felt you were both dulling, so they wanted to show you how it’s done ‘canine’ style. |
I don’t blame you for your actions, but as the man, you should have defined the relationship from the onset as mrbrownjay rightly said. First of all do the required forgiveness, restitution, e.t.c. then explain to the necessary peeps that you don’t see her in that light i.e. your lifetime companion. That it was a ‘not so honest’ mistake lol, which really shouldn’t sentence you to a miserable married life. If she wasn’t a virgin, I don’t see the issue, Good luck! |
Interesting, no doubt it will be expensive to buy at first. Kuulnomsy: Opposition to the prospect of approving the drug is based on concerns that users could gain a false sense of security, and fears of a drug-resistant strain of HIV.Now, this is worrying. |
Buhahaha, humans and rumours. |

@ OP, I think you hit the nail on the head when you mentioned culture. I believe it’s the main reason for Africa’s backward state. Why, because, Culture can be a conservative influence, it can also stifle innovation, ultimately preventing change. The culture of intimidation on Nairaland shows the mentality of the average African – if a view/idea/comment is different from yours, kill it by intimidating the person responsible. Example shown below: Metalgoong: Please go back to the romance section where your mates are playing.I don't engage your type in political discourse. Moreover, if people aren’t allowed to air their views/feedback/suggestions, how can a Country develop, where is the improvement initiative? As with Darwin’s law of natural selection, adaptation is key to survival. If Africa is to compete in the World, then it has to adapt by identifying and eliminating areas in its Cultures that stifle innovation, as well as to encourage and support it. Even Seun upgraded Nairaland to adapt and survive in his on-line environment. How successful or innovative that has been, is yet to be seen. ![]() |
TisaBone: [quote author=TisaBone]you guys act like its some sort of sin to be attracted to someone. I am a woman mind you, with desires like any other woman. the key is, with God's assistance, I can and will control them. Also, what makes you think that I would ever allow myself to be alone with him?Of course it’s not a sin to be attracted, but when you see the writing on the wall and choose to ignore it, it’s a whole other issue. All it takes is a moment of weakness, of which you have already shown, before you go all the way. It first of all starts off as a simple hug, then smooching, a little bit of exploration, and before you know it, the point of no return and a torn brand new hymen. And when you say God’s assistance, the holy book in 1st Thess 5:23 says abstain from all appearance of evil. I might be wrong, but “He took me in his arms, and his hands roamed all over my lower back, and my hips, and I could feel his hands hovering over my behind, but he stopped short” looks evil to me. Particularly because he did it like a pro, stopping short, leaving your mind to fill in the blanks, guaranteeing next time you will WANT him to go further. TisaBone: you just want me to fail so you can say "i told you so",Nobody here wants you to fail; they’ve tried the carrot and the stick approach, which isn’t really working for you. TisaBone: which does nothing but give me the strength to push even harder, and fight with renewed vigor to do what it is that I say I will do.That’s the spirit soldier, keep on fighting, strong will continue, lol, but don’t start battles you can’t win, even if you ultimately win the war. You know what to do, but the question is ‘are you willing to do it?' |
sauer: The question remains. How do you establish she's nice. Looks can be deceptive, I hope you understand. While of course I do not advocate indiscriminate sex, I think the option of protection can drastically reduce incidence of HIV. If the OP had factored this in, his argument would be less grisly! You don’t need a complex algorithm to figure out a nice person, but I get your point. Besides that, anyone can be a victim of circumstance, even virgins; all it takes is the prick of an infected needle, due to occupational hazard or a hard drug session. To prevent a possibly long argument, I agree with you, but you shouldn’t have picked on his example, as it shows how a little carelessness, call it oversight, can lead to a new qualification, HIV +ve. While you obviously see the flaw in the OP’s argument, for the good of the common man, it is better for them to be scared and safe, than sorry. Need I say more? Ah, yes, they also say “fear is a great motivator”. tutulicious: hweva dere are more deadly diseases than HIV AIDS, like lasser fever.Wow, you learn new things every day. |
To each his own, and to own their each ![]() |
sauer: How do you know a "nice" girl? Through her looks? That certainly is a wrong way to look at it. Irrespective of whom you are associating with, it's always important to protect yourself. If everyone did, the incidence of HIV will fall drastically. Well, having said that, the intention is to draw the poster to the insufficiency of his argument. His analysis says nothing about Nigerians abroad, since they may as well possess a different sex.ual characteristic from Nigerians at home. Plus, he has failed to factor in the number of sexcapades that happen with protection and all.Well, men tend to look for excuses like ‘she is nice/good’, ‘we will go raw just this once’ or ‘we have known each other for long’, which is the picture he was trying to paint. (I think) They say “The se.x impulse is like a fiery horse. Uncontrolled, it may be destructive and dangerous”. However, it is more difficult to control/protect yourself when an escapade becomes a relationship without both partners going for a test, particularly when you factor in that strong (fiery horse) impulse. Again, another reason why I feel the rules in the holy books were put in place. |
His love comes with a lot of baggage, is the attraction strong enough to see you through and are you mature enough (physically, emotionally and spiritually) to carry it? You cannot teach an old dog new tricks, you know. Best thing for you is to walk away. |
emöfine2: I have no doubt in my mind that everyone appreciates art in one form or another. No problem so far, omnipresent is a strong word to use, but I will let it slide. emöfine2: However art in relation to African heritage is often stigmatized by those who would have otherwise inherited these arts or would have been best placed to appreciate them.Erm, don’t agree with your assumption, and then again, I might be ignorant. I come from an ethnic group called Tiv, its language classified within the Tiv-Batu subgroup of the Bantoid branch of the Benue-Congo subdivision of Niger-Congo. Our religious beliefs centre on using the power of Tsav, to control spiritual forces represented by sculptured emblems such as this: Picture Reference: http://www.britishmuseum.org/research/search_the_collection_database/search_object_details.aspx?objectid=619530&partid=1&output=Terms%2f!!%2fOR%2f!!%2f5980%2f!%2f%2f!%2fRepresentation+of+Tiv%2f!%2f%2f!!%2f%2f!!!%2f&orig=%2fresearch%2fsearch_the_collection_database%2fadvanced_search.aspx¤tPage=6&numpages=10 The people who use this are called the Mba Tsav, they are feared, as these forces can be used for good or evil. We also have the Kwagh Hir theatre, where different clans come together to compete through masquerade/dance/storytelling, as it is based on many superstitious and cultural beliefs. To cut the long story short, contrary to what you said, this African ‘art’ is not condemned but celebrated where 50% of ‘one’ comes from. However, if what you said is true, then I would understand your concerns and blame it on Damnant quod non intellegunt, translated as ‘people fear what they do not understand’ or ‘they condemn what they do not understand’. Then again, there are many things that happen in the Dark Continent you can’t explain, so you can’t blame them. emöfine2: What some Africans despise in some of these representations is what actually makes those works unique. Art imbued with spiritual undertones is rather sublime as it has a soul. Now, that’s some deep stuff right there. Never looked at it that way, I’m quivering, lol. emöfine2: But what is even more damaging than showing contempt for some of our art is when one who clearly has a low disregard for their background and motivated by outside approval or gain will illegally sell or donate national treasures as a gift thereby selling their culture low in the process.Me thinks someone’s visited Windsor Castle lately, I don’t see why this should bother you though. Empires were known to get spoils after victories, Lords were known to receive homage from vassals, and Music composers still receive royalties from artists. Basically it involves a superior person and a subject; he was obviously the subject, bending to his master's every whim, else he be replaced by a more subservient one. I mean, if I conquer your heart, you will give me your best, no? ![]() |
tpia@:What you see here is an inquisitive mind that constantly needs filling. When filled with the right type of information, it could spawn innovation – a reason the west is far ahead, but when filled with the wrong type, you get the case of Ted Kaczynski, the Unabomber. Bottom-line, you need to appreciate this mind’s uniqueness, and to help it as much as you can. |
Last time I tried, I failed woefully as we went too far, too fast. The fact her faith wasn’t as strong as mine didn’t help matters. Now, I find myself surrounded by darkness, at times I feel snuffing out the light within will make it easier to live in a world that seems lost. Still I don’t, as experience has taught me all this is real. Hearing other people’s views will definitely help strengthen my resolve. |
When you see the way western governments fund schemes to integrate research and education with practical application in companies, you feel like crying for Nigeria. They do this to help companies increase their competitiveness by sharing new ideas and approaches to modern industrial practice, which is why they keep growing while African Countries remain stagnant. Their universities partner with companies to solve practical problems through internships/placements in this sequence – company pays university, university pays and mentors student throughout. This is a win-win situation for all those concerned as the student gains practical experience, problem solved for company, and the university increases not only its knowledgebase, but can also purchase equipment with leftover funds. If this is done in different universities, with different companies, and different students, the Nation’s industrial sector will definitely grow and your problem will be solved. Nice one poster, I’m glad people like you are thinking of the future. |
After discovering a particularly ‘long’ body part, my friends gave me the nickname with the prefix ‘Tha’. The rest is up to your imagination. ![]() |
