KINGwax: ignorance is a disease dude, not a bliss. And besides, if u use the word, 'pseudo or pretence' in dealing wit a girl, i'll undstnd. But telling people to act like 'since-i-don't-knw-i'm-fine' is fuckin hypocricy! How u hypocrites succeed in wielding the word 'trust' as if it aint d tool for survival irks me. Why don't u pray for a bit_ch, and when u catch her pants down wit your dog, u can biliv it's nice to knw. How can i jes pretend it's fine when the signs say it aint? Mtcheeew!Dude, it takes a certain type of maturity and understanding to realise this, would you rather I experience paranoia because of one woman? See an extreme case of ‘No trust – she might be cheating on me lemme take preventive measures’ below: member_126910: Hi guys, I need fresh eyes to look at this situation, as it is bugging me constantly.Read more; https://www.nairaland.com/1089013/getting-married-2-months-why When Mario Winans sang ‘I don’t wanna know’, I thought he was foolish, even weak; then I experienced the dark place he was coming from, and I finally understood his position. However, I still do not agree. In addition, to correct your statement, I didn’t say you should pretend, I said if you can’t trust her, then leave her. If she doesn’t allay my fears to my satisfaction after I mention feelings of foul play, I will leave her, it’s that simple. HOWEVER, I won’t go around second guessing every move she makes, which is where the ‘ignorance is bliss’ came about – BIG DIFFERENCE. Obviously, we are two different human beings, with different personalities and mindsets. I stand my ground one year later, do whatever floats your boat; it is your life after all. |
@ Ifyalways, you got me thinking of a west life song – flying without wings, which might imply the human search for ‘purpose’, as opposed to ‘something’. A lack of which could lead to a void so large, the fame, money and power in the world can’t fill. Unfortunately, some people after realising this, resort to suicide or become a slave to money/fame/power, relying on more and more to fill this void, resulting in a never-ending unsatisfied, vicious cycle. I believe its only spirituality that gives that peace and purpose. These are my humble thoughts; they could be right, or I could be full of .... ![]() |
ifyalways: ^ lol.Lol, that’s a rather gloomy way of looking at it, still, a thought provoking response. I look at death as more of a pit stop during the race of life and not the final destination. Comparing it to a racecar lap, instead of a tyre or an oil change, the body is transformed for the rest of the journey, which would be either eternal chilling or eternal damnation. Moreover, when you talk about purpose, it can be argued that getting to that stage in your career was a want, not your purpose, and human wants are limitless. This would explain the ‘I want more’ that even Adam and Eve fell prey to, even though they knew their purpose. |
@ Topic, some internal calling, I guess. People naturally need that feeling of belonging and love as pointed out by psychologists and HRM gurus, which is what drives them most of the time. As they satisfy one, they move on to the next. I believe this calling is mainly influenced by factors such as the environment one finds oneself in as well as the media, peers, siblings and so on. All these help feed the desire, some people discover theirs on their own, but in other advanced societies, teachers/parents/guardians help to steer them onto the right path. Spiritually, people also talk about predestination. As that is beyond my brain’s comprehension, I dare not comment, lol. |
Lol, this is afternoon entertainment. |
Well, I used to be a fan until these ‘noise makers’ came into the scene. Rap music helped shape a younger me or shall I say, played a fatherly role. Then gain, it got into a lot of trouble, due to the stubborn streak it created. I had friends whose lives were ruined, as they wanted to be like 2pac. Heck, some even lost their lives. Guess rap music to the blacks is the same as what hard rock music is to the whites; definitely hazardous to health. Speaking of which, I went to Jay-Z and Kanye’s watch the throne London concert sometime this year and it was mostly whites/Asians there. Therefore, I guess it affects everyone, regardless of race. #now, where is that my sacred Indian chants cd# No more rap music, lol. |
Nice one, this means one can pick up one or two things instead of the utter chaos which is occasionally apparent, resulting in the drowning of good ideas. Apart from announcing winners, is it possible to transform the solutions into something meaningful? Like, contact legislators/politicians or at least create ‘best practice’ solutions to known issues / some kind of knowledgebase for people in power? I know Jarus mentioned Pat Utomi and El rufai, but I mean people who are already there and capable of making a difference. That way, even a Nairalander who finds him/herself in power one day, might remember this forum and put these ideas into practice. |
OP, I am a Nigerian in Diaspora, and I am not bitter about the situation back home. Heck, I travel down there often, and even though the situation is positively depressing, I hope that one day, things will get better. In the meantime, I think of ways in which I can develop myself, so I can one day contribute positively. Do not go around generalizing just because of a few bad eggs. Nice message, but wrong delivery – typically, what you would expect of a Nigerian. |
About time too, maybe, just maybe our leaders will start focusing on other ways of generating revenue rather than just relying on oil production. |
Is having a bit of both too much to ask for? |
Hmm, I wonder how many Nigerian men will go golfing, do not-for-profit things, go to a gym, go to a historical society, be humble enough to attend cookery classes, go for book signings, etc. *Just thinking out loud* |
@ Topic; smh, pastors give their views on marriage, apparently, PhDs now do too. Sheesh – information overload, next time I read an article on such *in a Kanye West voice*, imma let them finish, but it will probably pass through one ear and come out of the other. Alternatively, pass through the eyes and magically come out of the anus. Let’s hope Ryan Reynolds’s marriage lasts forever this time around, or at least, lasts longer than his first. Okija_juju: SOURCES: Alusi Okija, PhD, author of "You can use Juju to find true love";Lol, like juju does not have an expiry date. |
It is what it is… I used to think that way until I moved to a village and associated with common folk who were content with what life had thrown at them – there I found a little bit of peace. I have since realised that life is not a race, and these earthly possessions we can kill for, only provide temporary fulfilment, not lasting joy. After all, we ultimately die and return to the dust we came from, taking absolutely nothing with us. Nice write-up, OP! |
Nice, at least one is sure this hair comes from a living, breathing female – that ought to count for something. |
Childish Gambino – Black faces (ft. Nipsey Hustle) |
That is not a man, more of an animal. I hope ‘it’ is charged with attempted manslaughter and caged like the animal ‘it’ is. |
^^^I don’t tolerate violence against women, but some have the ability to rile you up. They get into your subconscious, under your skin, into your head and bring out a violent reaction that probably never existed before. In addition, there is no such thing as a ‘true gentleman’; everyone gets to that ‘back against the wall stage’ where the only option is to fight back – with words preferably though. ![]() |
@ Topic, I suggest they use a different pricing structure, one for members and one for non-members just as foreign universities do with home and international students. They could also break this pricing structure down to parents combined earnings and charge those with higher earnings a different amount. This, in addition to scholarships and grants would make sure all levels of society benefit for the so-called ‘quality’ education. In addition, it would increase the chances of poor kids moving up the social ladder – equal opportunities, the Nigerian version. |
afam4eva: The opposite of career women is not village women. You can trust a Nigerian to pick holes in a post. I never said that was the opposite, rather, I was being sarcastic, get it? Moreover, I used ‘champion’ as opposed to ‘woman’, ‘village’ to suggest a lack of education needed for a bright city career. ![]() |
*Kails*:Nothing do you. Mrs.Chima:Haba, I contributed, before I got errm *coughs* distracted. I mentioned advising her to go on a trial separation, probably with an ultimatum for the guy to change his ways else it becomes permanent. I guess you could also take pictures of her and post to family members instead of that Rihanna pic. Alternatively, get them to lure her home for a visit, then prevent her from going back until the partner comes around. I have stopped wondering what goes on in some female minds since I was told by one she likes it when her bf beats her a little, call it a fetish or whatever. At the end of the day, it's her decision to stay or go. Even though you care, you can't make it for her, only point her in the right direction. |
@ Topic, it’s possible, still doesn’t mean I’ll marry a village champion though. |
^^^I’m curious, what was it you did, a butt job perhaps? ![]() |
Fair comment, but there is always that situation you don’t see. People are unpredictable in their behaviour and not always very rational. Since it involves more than one person, there is always that unknown thing that before you know it, could lead to ‘irreconcilable differences’. Guess marriage is like a journey you start, and as with life in general, there are no guarantees you will make it to the end. Still, you mentioned some good points; overall, it’s a nice write up. |
Temporary separation? |
logo77: @ Long One....... I like your sense of humor (Sure there will be a loud shout of "JESUS!!!"Yeah, it is definitely a great topic. I wish the government could come up with laws for new drivers, as they do in the UK where you have to take a theory test and practical test before you get your licence. As Ikenna351 rightly pointed it, it takes a lot more than reading to get the skill. Even after that, you need awareness all the time, like using your three mirrors before each manoeuvre including swerving and braking. Maintaining the right speed is also important, as you can receive fines for driving too slowly. |
That’s more of a shove, besides, you can’t judge based on a clip, as she might have done something annoying – like grab his member. I mean this is the US we are talking about; they sue like no man’s business, it would be assault in this case. |
All this do's and don'ts you guys are saying here, I'm sure the OP will first of all shout to his village Gods, then do all what you say he shouldn't. ![]() Where is he anyway, no contribution from him since he started the thread. |
ogugua88: Well, it's my first iPhone, so I can't exactly compare it to another phone. So far, it's amazing. I was team Blackberry before. This phone blows my Blackberry Bold out of the water and into outer space. It is so sleek. The metal and plastic finish is luxurious. The pictures do not do it any justice. The elongation and the thinness of the phone are quite noticeable as well. Other people noticed it immediately. I haven't downloaded that many apps, nor have I used maps, which many people were complaining about. So, I'll be keeping my eyes peeled for those.Nice! Thanks for the detailed response and big hello to you too, I will buy the ear pods, but that's about it. For some of us, it seems to be a bit of a disappointment. I had imagined they would reverse engineer the Xbox kinect motion technology and use it as some form of virtual keypad on the new iPhone. Alternatively, use holographic technology to project images of apps or of people during a video call - you know, some future technology ish like that. With Samsung & co. trailing behind, they had better come with good stuff, not slight upgrades, as it seems to be a flatter, stretched out and lighter iPhone 4/4s. Guess Steve Jobs is dead, and only time will tell if this new guy fits his shoe size. However, as with apple products, it's just another iPhone, that you don't need, but want to have. Well, congrats on your new iPhone and ignore the rants of a disillusioned fan, lol. |
ogugua88: I have my phone now. I must say, I'm completely in love lol. Now to get all my friends off blackberry...Is it any good, what were your first thoughts? I'll pop into an Apple store later to play with one, but want a user's opinion. After the disappointment with the iPhone 4's initial release, I decided not to be an early adopter for any new Apple product. Also, since I patronize cracked apps, I think I'll wait till 'they' jailbreak iPhone 5 before I get one. |
Slow down? 100km/hr is not that fast, 100mph, now you are talking. |
