RomanceRe: Nigerians On Nairaland by LongOne1(m): 12:57pm On Mar 29, 2012
Ammyng: I registered into this forum February 03, 2012 and have noticed few things here. Mmember's here are true substantiation of black racist, they love own "within" they slate you even when they don't know anything about you other than knowing your handle on nairaland. Why is it so? Not that I care but I just wanna know.
I guess it has to do with weather, personal frustrations as khukhi mentioned, and groupthink as Bittyend mentioned.

Weather, because the assumption that people from cold countries are cold, and people from hot countries hot blooded holds true to date. Don’t believe me, travel to Nigeria, you’ll see how easy it is to get even a policeman riled up; woe betide you if he has a loaded weapon.

Personal frustrations, from my last visit, I realised the things I took for granted in the west like withdrawing money, I had to beg for in Nigeria, traffic is a whole other issue. Nigerians occasionally need to vent these, so there you go.

Group-think, well, the way they form cliques here isn’t much different from what happens in the country; though the cliques are usually formed along ethnic lines. Hence, they become cohesive (stick together), even when they are wrong and sacrifice the greater good (new ideas/mindset, change) over their delusions of grandeur (we are too much, we are better looking people, our culture has it all). This leads to ‘this handle is not one of us so let’s finish him’.

Oh, I forgot to mention ‘intimidation’, which is a norm in Nigeria. They look for a point of entry, once they gain this; they proceed to finish you off completely.

So, OP, now that you know, what will you do with the knowledge, lol.

Hmm, interesting topic and comments, still single but this is inspiring, as some people are obviously getting it right.

Would not say I am scared, more of ‘resigned to fate’ ‘cos I know it’s something I’ll have to do eventually. Luckily, the parents haven’t started stressing yet, just one Aunt that won’t let me be.

coogar: there's a problem and we need to acknowledge the problem and address it.
we have an uncanny ability of always pointing fingers when we are not better off. nigerians abroad scream racism at any given opportunity but the tribal hatred at home is worse! charity begins at home. we need to clean up our acts in nigeria before pointing accusing fingers @ the other races.
^^^Nice one, digressing a bit, your attacks are legendary, thought I would have to run for cover, lol.
RomanceRe: Crazy Nigerians:) by LongOne1(m): 2:15pm On Mar 21, 2012
coogar: yes, i am talking to you nigerian men! i am nigerian too so stop the holier than thou fucktitude!
many of you are semi-illiterates with little or no mother wit and what the op observed is very true.
and with the way you commented like someone whose brain cells was dipped in a barrel of semen, you are part of the statistics she's talking about.
stinking swine!
Dis guy, sef.

You seem to have a thing against Nigerians; me thinks since you are one, you understand their flaws, frustrated with them, maybe, so you have moved from love to contempt, possibly? Even, wanting a change?

I agree with your first comment, as well as the OP’s, but calling Nigerians ‘psychotic beings’? Haba, I sincerely do not know if I should laugh or cry, lol.
CultureRe: What Has The Black Race Contributed To The World? by LongOne1(m): 1:55pm On Mar 19, 2012
Blacks changed the phrase/simile ‘as poor as a church mouse’ to ‘as … (use your imagination)’, it appears they now act as reverse missionaries (see BBC’s TV show: Reverse Missionaries).
This is in no way a sarcastic statement, just saying they were able to reinvent the way a Church operates by bringing out texts that were overlooked.

Besides that, slave labour was also responsible for many ancient Engineering feats. In addition, The Great Pyramid of Giza happens to be one of the wonders of the ancient world.
CultureRe: Are You A Village Or City Person? by LongOne1(m): 3:04pm On Mar 15, 2012
I currently live in a village, and it seems a good place to raise a family.

I enjoy the tranquillity, being close to nature and all, though this occasionally drives me nuts. People are generally friendlier, though I occasionally get the young, innocent kid who asks if I got burnt or why I am black.

Christianity EtcRe: Why Do People Sleep During Church Services? by LongOne1(m): 11:57am On Mar 13, 2012
It’s not only church services, conferences, and lectures as well.

Biologically, the human attention span is limited to between one and two hours if I remember correctly, which is why you get coffee/tea breaks between sessions to reduce this effect.

Anything over that, the brain grinds to a halt or goes into hibernation mode, and the next thing is sleep.

RomanceRe: When An Ex-Boyfriends Best Friend Is Asking You Out: Is That Proper?. by LongOne1(m): 11:36am On Mar 13, 2012
Hahaha, the romance section is a true reflection of Nigeria today; people spend more time fighting than solving problems – Battleground Nairaland, starring ‘the romance section’.

@ OP, All is fair in love and war, lol. Besides, a Lady told me last week that she always listens to her inner man before making decisions, I suggest you do that too. Having said that, the ‘lady’ in question has been known to make catastrophic relationship decisions.

With that, Good luck.

PoliticsRe: ‎''black'' People Don't Read! – So Sad ( I Feel Like Crying For My Race, Is This Who We Are???) by LongOne1(m): 11:17am On Mar 13, 2012
It’s sad, but for the most part true. It seems to be a ‘black’ thing true, most of the western blacks (who have little or nothing to do with Africa); have those traits of Selfishness and Greed ingrained within.

I however disagree with his comments about the talented tenth – I feel they behave this way as some form of defensive mechanism, as the system recognizes people who achieve success through sharp/dubious means.
Hence, they feel ostracized from society, as theirs was primarily through hard work, which is why (in my opinion), they segregate themselves, not because they do not want to help, but sincerely do not know how to change the system.

Where are the moderators? This topic should make the front page; we need to start thinking as a Team where we went wrong and what we can do to remedy this.

RomanceRe: Nigerian Men Would Culture Prevent You From Loving And Marrying An American Woman by LongOne1(m): 7:29pm On Mar 12, 2012
@ Op; I guess it depends on the man in question and his attachment to his family. Some parents don’t want their kids to marry outsiders, so it depends on the strength of his family ties – if he can convince them otherwise or at least stand his ground.

Personally, I put no stock on culture, but that’s probably because I have a bit of an identity crisis.

PoliticsRe: Obama Calls Ghana ‘model For Africa’ by LongOne1(m): 5:27pm On Mar 09, 2012
manchy7531:
even if Nigeria and south Africa remains stagnant for the next 30yrs,Ghana's economy will never surpass that of Nigeria especially cos they don't even have the market.they will reach their elastic limit before then.
Nice one, but employing a similar strategy used by Japanese motorbike manufacturers, they could easily takeover the market.

The Japanese, after World War 2 took ideas and products that were developed elsewhere, retained the best elements and improved on the rest (Modelling). Then, they flooded the western markets with cheaper and more reliable products, purposely to kill the local competition. Bottom-line, countries like China that were inspired to do the same, are now classed as emerging markets because of the success.

manchy7531:
secondly Ghana has steady light with 1,600mw being generated for both industrial and domestic needs i agree.but don't forget why Nigeria at present generates 4500-5000mw, Lagos alone need 15000mw for electricity to power it.that means Lagos economy at full capacity utilization is bigger than that of the whole of Ghana and i don't need any miseducation here.Ivory coast still remain west Africa's second largest economy.
Another valid point, but don’t forget they could subcontract some of their operations to Make or Buy. Companies like Apple design their products in the US and do the actual Manufacturing in China. When you study the supply chain of the big Multinational corporations/conglomerates in the world, you realise their networks are nothing short of overwhelming.

While, at face value your comments seem justifiable, you should never underestimate the ‘little guy’ i.e. David and Goliath; David Haye and Nikolay Valuev; and the British Empire (243,610 square kilometres) took over almost one-quarter of the Earth’s total land area – size does not always matter.
PoliticsRe: Can Our Leaders Do This In Nigeria (pix Attached) by LongOne1(m): 12:50pm On Mar 09, 2012
Yeah, we suffer from misplaced priorities a lot in Nigeria.

Not wanting to sound racist, but I think it’s a ‘black’ thing. Despite the fact that we were colonised by the British who are conservative, it seems we copied America’s love of ‘excess’, i.e. big gas guzzling cars, big houses, e.t.c.
Unfortunately, it’s mostly the Blacks in America that overdo this ‘big’ lifestyle by being braggarts.
PoliticsRe: Obama Calls Ghana ‘model For Africa’ by LongOne1(m): 12:28pm On Mar 09, 2012
Oh well, the way things are going, they might overtake Nigeria as the so-called ‘Giant of Africa’.

My question is ‘who will in time rule the African kingdom’? With Nigeria and South Africa acting like children over who deports who faster, and Ghana playing the role of the underdog (silently developing in the background) I think I support Ghana.
