despite Argentina being exited I still wished it was worse.

Grizzy just delibrately slowed the game on 2-3 counters.

a whitewash would ease the pain of not seeing Musa vs Varane or Iheanacho vs Umtiti cry
That part hurt me.

I can't believe the Argentines believed they could win when they were 2:1 up. I was like, look at these kids; you guys just poked a sleeping bear. The French 4th goal was orgasmic.

Then Griezmann proceeded to kill the counters, which might have proved costly. Like that's why I love the Germans. If they were in the same position as the French, them for spell Argentina.

did they ban you from posting in this thread huh ?
If I start now, you guys would start complaining.

Why seek for trouble when there's the option to maintain the peace?

Or is this some sick masochism on your part to look for whoever will spank you.

Everyone is in a precarious situation. Ronaldo against those ATH demons at the back while the Portuguese backline is against Cavani and Suarez. Then there's Argentina against France, which is nothing like Argentina-Nigeria; as France does not have Ighalo and Iheanacho; they have Griezmann and Mbappe.

Is there any reason why in light of this, you want to start something you wouldn't be able to finish because Messi finally scored a goal against his favorite national team opponent.

Nigeria did have their opportunities and did not take them. You don't miss 3 clear chances in a game of such magnitude and hope you don't get punished. Sweden missed such chances against Germany and paid for it.

How?

All-Time Global conversion rate as at today

Ronaldo: 82.09%
Messi: 76.64%

Messi can go home without a single goal as far as we are concerned. He has proved himself by winning the golden boot and not only qualifying but even reaching the finals. Lets see how your goat will get the golden boot. Especially after facing Suarez and Cavanigrin
CR7 has won the Euros. He has gotten to the World Cup Semi Finals. And he has scored as many goals in 2018 as Messi scored in 2014.

CR7 doesn't have to prove himself to anyone.

FoolishBoy419:
Kindly tell us when Pele said Ronaldo is better than Messi. As for zidane who would expect him to say otherwise? he was his coach and he spent years at real madrid. same way Ronaldinho will be biased in favour of Messi

lol. It was just Messi's first game when he missed the penalty. So the failing twice is a ridiculous answer.

The only area in which Ronaldo is able to compete with Messi (scoring goals especially penalties), and he isn't even as good as you'd like every one to think.

If Spain didn't just concede two goals against Morocco in a draw - Morocco that everyone else in the group beat without conceding we might all have been tricked into believing that Spain has an organised defense.

I'm also amused at how all of you now making noise were painfully silent in 2014 until after Germany narrowly won. Come back when Ronaldo is able to inspire his team into the world cup semis.
Ronaldo played with a niggling knee injury in 2014. Messi had only 4 goals and 1 assist in that entire tournament. All his goals came in the group stages. Much like Ronaldo in this World Cup.

And Ronaldo went to the semis of the 2006 World Cup!

Come back when Messi wins an international tournament.

Dumbito!

Been following this debate since and never wanted to talk. But this particular lie caught my attention. Pele never said Ronaldo is better than Messi. In fact, he said Neymar should never be compared to Ronaldo because he plays Messi's kinda style.

He said though Ronaldo is a great goalscorer but when it comes to play making he doesn't come anywhere near these two guys.

The bold below is what Pele said:

“I would still stay with Messi. Scoring is important, no doubt, but if you do not have anyone to prepare, then the ball is not enough. For my team I prefer Messi.”

Pele added on the differences between Messi and Ronaldo: "Messi's been the most stable in the last 10 years.

"As for Cristiano Ronaldo, he's a great goalscorer.

"Ronaldo's been able to score goals, while you see Messi creating goals and directing the play, as well as scoring.

"Ronaldo's a great goalscorer but in terms of the complete player, there's no doubt that Messi is the best."

The fact is, the world would have gone ballistic if it was Messi that missed this penalty and escaped with a yellow card for elbowing another player.

And you think this excuse of a reply is HOT?

Dude get off your meds. CR7 already has 4 goals that got Portugal 4 points. Messi has nada goals yet. Ronaldo stepped up twice, Messi failed twice. Ronaldo missing a penalty does not erase that fact; which is why the world has not gone ballistic.

The other questions don't make any sense. You are the one that brought up the Penaldo nickname, and I'm explained how he got nicknamed thus.
Divenaldo is hardly as common as Penaldo. Try something else.

Bottom line is Messi fans call him Penaldo; CR7 fans call Messi Missi. The other questions are very clear, if you can't answer them; then STFU!

It's nauseating to think ordinary people without an inkling of what football entails, equate Ronaldo to Messi...Messi is far ahead of him, go confirm from Legends of the game
The other GOAT contenders don't think Messi "is far ahead of" CR7. Pele and Maradona are on record for saying they'd rather have Ronaldo than Messi in their team. And Zidane said CR7 is better than him. So if legitimate GOAT contenders have said that, why should I listen to your opinion.

In fact, your "far ahead" statement has exposed the fact that you are a Messi fanatic! No reasonable person says Messi is "far ahead" of CR7!

Moreover, I don't want to debate who is better. Your opinion is your opinion, and mine is mine. At the end of the day you can't convince me otherwise, and I'm willing to bet I can't convince you either.

Ronaldo is called Penaldo because he has a hunger for penalties which make up a significant portion of his goal tally. He doesn't mind diving to get penalties. He isn't called Penaldo because he doesn't miss them.

Clearly, 'Missi' isn't a fitting name for Messi, given that if they both take the same number of shots, Messi is more likely to score. He has a better goal ratio, and even with free kicks.
And since when did it go against the rule of the game to draw a penalty?

If he is drawing pens and scoring most of them; why is it bothering you guys?

If he draws pen and scores, problem.

That's all the correction I wanted to make. Last week, anyone on twitter who don't watch football would have seen tweets and thought that Ronaldo never misses penalties and Messi never scores.

Big deal about his 4 goals. Kane has 5 goals, and hasn't even played his last group game.
How would anyone who doesn't watch football imagine that Ronaldo has never missed a penalty and that Messi never scored a penalty?

Yea, 5 goals against Panama and Tunisia. Ronaldo's 4 goals were against Spain and Morocco.

Clearly, you are as awful as the CR7 fans you want to criticize.

Well, you can continue, because if Messi doesn't score tomorrow you don't expect the same people you're trolling now not to say anything. Messi fans made trolling CR7 fashionable. You guys should develop thick skin and stop throwing fits because Messi was the subject of trolling.

what theories did they come up with as to why he missed the penalty against Iceland? Mention them.

It's too early to forget how he was slayed on Twitter, dubbed Miss Penalty, saying Ronaldo never misses, and so on. Now you guys are silent. A penalty miss is no longer a big deal.

There is no difference, Messi was anguished after his miss, and accepted the blame. Both fan boys are as bad as each other.
Who said Ronaldo never misses?

And how are Ronaldo fans silent? Ronaldo shouldn't have missed the penalty. It was a penalty that relied on the GK going the wrong way rather than beating the GK even if he went the right way. By his standards, it's a poor penalty.

But I'd rather have Ronaldo play a penalty in a crucial game than Messi. It's as simple as that. There's a reason why Messi fans mocked him as Penaldo; and CR7 fans christened Messi as Missi.

dude, Ronaldo has now missed 5 penalties out of 12 taken for Portugal. Messi has missed 4 out of 16 for Argentina (including the Iceland miss).

People just make more noise when Messi has a bad game, cos deep down they hold him to a higher standard. Watch how people would keep quiet about it, the same way they kept quiet about his tax fraud fine.

If Ronaldo had scored, Portugal would have topped their group. They were fortunate Iran missed that last opportunity.
And Iran would have been fortunate Ronaldo missed his penalty and Mario missed the open goal. We can play the what ifs game all day!

And Portugal ceased pressing for another goal after Ronaldo's miss.

Messi had two consecutive disasterclasses. Ronaldo has 4 goals already.

You seem to be arguing 2 different things, does he prefer Spanish players? yes! does he favour them? we need proof for that!

His signing them means he prefers them, using them in place of better players from other countries would mean he favours them! You are arguing for the former while I'm asking for proof from those that claim the latter's

Mourinho signed 4 Portuguese players out of 7 signings in his first season at Chelsea, that shows a preference but those players had to fight for their place like everyone else and had to keep proving they deserved their spot, that means he didn't "favour" them.

If you still don't understand by now, you probably never will
The line between prefer and favor is very thin. Very very thin.

There have many times when coaches use a preferred player, in the name of having more faith in him, when it was clear the coach had to try someone else.

So you can't say a coach who "prefers" Spanish players did not at anytime favor any of his preferred players. It is statistically impossible, as coaches are NEVER ALWAYS 100% objective in their selections. BIAS is often at play, however minute. Lope is not a robot. He is a coach and a human being.

The bottom line is that since he prefers Spanish players, the chance that he would favor Spanish players (whether intentional or not) is statistically higher than coaches who do not have such preference. And that's the reason why some fear he'd put certain players over others.

And my point is that you cannot say people who have such skepticism are "illogical" and that their skepticism is "based on incomplete information".

You keep mentioning Mourinho. But today Mourinho has gone from preferring Portuguese players to preferring physical players with phenomenal work rate. And he sure as hell shows his preference in his selection. Whoever watches Manchester United play today would hardly believe that same Mourinho was the assistant coach to Louis Van Gaal at Barcelona.
