Miremoses1:The guy is funny sef. What did he do to deserve the award over Modric and CR7 sef? He should jejelly wait his turn. He has a bright chance of upsetting Mbappe and Neymar at least once when the old guard pass the torch. -Lord |
hardeycute:They included world cup performances as well. In which case Kroos doesn't even come close. In terms of talent tho', I think Modric and Kroos are on the same level. It's just the level of energy in Modric is UNREAL. Looking at both of them play, you wouldn't immediately realize Modric is four years older than Kroos. -Lord |
Netfilix:In 2012, Iniesta won the UEFA Best Player's Award and Messi won the Ballon D'Or. Here's to hoping history doesn't repeat itself and we can have a Ballon D'Or midfielder. France Football apologized to Iniesta for not giving him a Ballon D'Or. Well now is their chance to prove they meant it. Modric FTW. It's his first and last chance to get the Ballon D'Or; he'd be the perfect talent to end the Ronaldo-Messi decade run. Pretty symbolic as well. Kaka handed it over, Modric took it back. -Lord |
Congrats the Maestro Modric! You deserve it! -Lord |
RO16 sure! -Lord |
The true Magician LM10. -Lord |
The General himself! Ramos on point. -Lord |
usbcable:Shey na if the clubs wen u dey mention ready to sign am. Transfer window ends today if I'm not mistaking, it's not like he has the luxury of time or choice really. -Lord |
usbcable:He'd bench your boy Yedder. ![]() Quite frankly I haven't heard of any other club that's interested in him. And following our hijack of Mariano, Mayoral may be a peace offering to Sevilla. Until he blows up and we go for him again... -Lord |
Miremoses1:Lope should not even think of starting him in the CL. Knowing UEFA, our group wouldn't be funny this year. The CdR and the League will provide enough games to run that experiment. He is a good player to make an impact from the bench. But 12 months ago we had CR7, Benz, Morata, and Mariano. Now we have Benz and Mariano (Mayoral is leaving for Sevilla). One would be a nutter to believe Perez ever has/had a plan. That n*gga is out of his depth. Just look how low our expectations have fallen. Please Benz and Bale should maintain their form in anyway possible. -Lord |
Miremoses1:Challenge ke. Benz will play all the UCL and important La Liga games whether he is scoring or not. Mariano does not have the experience or ability to bench Benz. Mariano is backup for when we have to rest Benz or when he enters a goal scoring drought or if Benz gets injured. -Lord |
Eyedea:Don't think that's fair on Mayoral. We were the ones who sold Mariano last year for 8m. Now we're paying roughly 3 times more within 1 year because he had more playing time. It was the same thing with Morata, and I think Mayoral will become much better with regular playing time. Mariano is an improvement, although he wouldn't have ever entered my list of potential signings. Seems like a last-ditch option with the transfer window closing in a few days. -Lord |
Netfilix:Keep it coming mate! -Lord |
sod09:Good on Emery, because the buck stops at his table. There used to be a standard for Arsenal players. Don't make the cut, go sit your a$$ on the bench. -Lord |
Miremoses1:Or he just wanted to change and try out Nacho on the LB position so as to get him used to the position. Nacho is the backup LB this season. Coentrao is back but Lope is having none of it. -Lord |
Unlimited22:Sorry for the mix up. Well you do get my point, Marcos Alonso has been brilliant in the last few games. Been looking at your games this season because of Sarri, Hazard, and my boy Kovacic. -Lord |
Netfilix:Why did you bother replying him? He just wants to pull someone's leg. Trolling 101. When we lose, they'd also go look for a game where we lost to the same team with Ronaldo on the pitch. Juve lost to Lazio at their home last season, this season with Ronaldo on the pitch they won. Yet if you go on BWRAO and other Juventini sites, you wouldn't see CR7 fans chalking it up to the Ronaldo effect. 4 days to the end of the transfer window and Perez & co. have not bought a backup striker. Let's just proceed to tempt fate this season. -Lord |
Unlimited22:I get your point but I don't think it's just that. You guys had Alves who had more assists than some of your midfielders. How many times have we seen Messi float the ball over the defense to an on-rushing Jordi Alba. Mendy has turned into some kind of wizard in crossing at Man City. Even Juve have Cancelo/Sandro doing major damage as RWB/LWB this season. Marcos Alonso, Alaba, Kimmich... And about Ramos, Pique too goes forward many times than most defenders. In the modern game, defenders are becoming more of an attacking threat. They pitch in when they can, and so I don't understand why others can make it work and we can't. -Lord |
Miremoses1:Any decent team with a good attacking threat will be a huge test. We need this defense because the Bale/Benzema honeymoon wouldn't continue ad infinitum. There'd be games when things are slow or doesn't go well for them. And then we'd be expecting our defense to hold a slim lead. I just have this feeling that when push comes to shove, the defense will fall apart like a pack of cards. Marcelo, Ramos, Varane/Nacho, Carvajal, Casemiro--the best players in the world at their respective positions. In the same game that we have Bale and Asensio who should be covering for the RB/LB respectively. And somehow the defense is still sh*tty! It astounds me! -Lord |
usbcable:It wasn't so much the tiring out. The whole idea of a high press early in the game is to get a lead, cement it, then slow down, let the opposition come at you, then blast on the counter using conserved energy. They got the first part right, was unable to consolidate with a second, Madrid grew into the game, and by that time it was too late. Even Liverpool gas out after 70 minutes, and that entire team is built for the high press. Game opened up, Madrid found acres of space gaping, Bale couldn't have asked for a better gift. -Lord |
veekid:Sorry fam. 17 points go hard una replicate this season. haymekus:Don't be so sure, Girona was wasteful today. Spanish teams are good, na finishing dey worry many of them. -Lord |
Miremoses1:3 points in the bag. Unto next week. But seriously, what is Lope doing with his boys all week that our defense barely improves week to week. Is it a RM curse or something. -Lord |
usbcable:Let's count our blessings. usbcable:Go and watch our first Girona game again. They sat back, defended all through and hit us when our defenders went to nap. They had a completely different approach to this game. From the get go, they came at us. It cost them in the end, especially with the 3rd and 4th goals; but if they had taken their chances in the first 55 minutes of the game, the FT scoreline would've been reversed and they'd be the ones hitting us on the counter. The scoreline is great, but it's like our Fuelanbrada game. Navas had two brilliant saves, Carvajal cleared a ball on the line, we were broken down more times than I can count. In the first 20 minutes, it was open season at the Marcelo wing. We mustn't sweat or count on our opposition to be wasteful to win games. Imagine for a second if it was Man City we played, we'd be begging them to keep the scoreline respectable. -Lord |
Perfecto! Benzema this is your season! -Lord |
Rajmeista:I thought we've settled this. Let the man tinker with his squad. It's Girona, the team on the pitch should be steamrolling them. Why Girona even has the guts to come at the team perplexes me. If they were more clinical, it should be at least 3:1 now. And this is almost the same team (way stronger even) that lost to Leganes in the CdR. The team shouldn't be struggling against Girona. Where's the press we were accustomed to seeing in the pre-season by the way? I guess old habits die hard. That said, I see no reason why Vinicius is shipped off to Castilla. We had Theo and Hakimi last year on the bench and at least gave them a chance for a year. Vinicius should get that too. -Lord |
hopefulLandlord:Simple. Nai you carry matter go Jalingo b4. U ehn! -Lord |
hopefulLandlord:Who is asking you to stop being bullish? As much as the fan base is gloomy about our chances this season, there's no one who'd reject a treble if it landed on our laps. But it's one thing to be bullish and another to ruffle feathers unnecessarily. Na simple question I ask. Shebi if they troll us with that statement of yours, it would count as playful banter? Because that is the kind of statement that gradually turned Barkabots thread to the dustbin it currently is where everyone goes there to sh*t on them even if they win a double but crash out in the UCL QF. -Lord |
Miremoses1:It'd pick up. But it's not our first late fixture. There's also the ATM hammering to take into consideration. The team will need several good results to get more people in the capital on board. Thankfully, we have a decent stretch of matches with weak opposition. The attendance is not even the issue. It's when we are trailing or have a draw in the latter stages in Bernabeu and the crowd gets restless that's the huge elephant in the room. Then who knows how far into the season we can keep up our press. Hopefully the League is getting increased viewership from other markets from this late night whatever to offset the loss of local attendance revenue. -Lord |
hopefulLandlord:Because your hope for us to win the Super Cup did not stop ATH from tearing us a new one. You're making it seem like CR7 left because there was deep animosity between him and the club. Of course we all want Real Madrid to win the UCL a record 4th time regardless of the opposition; but it's not because CR7 is our Neymar. I'm not even going to argue this. If heavens forbid we end this season trophyless, it wouldn't be funny on this thread. I don't want potential sympathizers turning to trolls. CR7 already has 2 trophies in the bag even if he doesn't play a game; we're the ones making do with a lot of if scenarios and hoping Barca has a sh*t season so we can get something locally. Let's be guided and concentrate on stuff that's important. -Lord |
hopefulLandlord:I hope if the fans leaving screenshot this statement and use it to troll us if this doesn't happen, you'll call it playful banter? I wonder why everything has to be confrontational. -Lord |
hopefulLandlord:Fair enough. -Lord |
KinzyeWriter:Au Revoir. It was nice having you around. I'm hoping Real Madrid and Juventus do not meet in the UCL; it'd be like a Portugal-Nigeria or Spain-Nigeria fixture to me. -Lord |
