Now I know why they renewed Pizzaro's contract, because he speaks spanish.
No problem, though I only wish Gomez doesn't leave the club, he could still hit back at form and become more prolific.
Any news about Gustavo?

Bayern Munich boss Pep Guardiola concedes he is under huge pressure in his new job and is well aware that coaches are afforded little time to deliver at a club of the Treble winners' size.

- Blog: Goodbye, hello

Guardiola, who finally took over the reins at Bayern last month, held just his second press conference on Thursday while the club were in Trentino, Italy for a training camp.

And the Spaniard, speaking in impressive German once again, said he knew he had to hit the ground running, but was ready for the challenge.

"I am at a big club and at a big club there is no time, you must deliver good work from the start," he said. "We have to focus on the future, on what we still can win. We don't want to look back.

"It's like that in every big club, no matter if you're at Barcelona, [AC] Milan or Bayern, you have to win, win, win. There is the possibility that we make mistakes of course. My job is to prevent us from making mistakes."

Guardiola, who spent four years in the top job at Barcelona while cementing a legacy in the process, is hoping to do the same at Bayern.

"I want to stay here for a long time," he said "I not only want to teach, I want to learn."

The former Spain international went on to lavish praise on his new set of players, and says he is particularly looking forward to working with Arjen Robben.

"Robben is a present to me" he said about the winger, who decided the 2013 Champions League final. "I will try to keep him on his level this season."

Guardiola also reserved kind words for Claudio Pizarro, who signed a new contract with the club on Thursday, and believes his language skills could be of great help to him.

"I like Claudio Pizarro, he is a very good player," he said. "He speaks Spanish and will have to translate my ideas in training."

Guardiola, who led Barca to such success while playing attractive football, is confident that his new side will adapt to his style of play quickly.

"Bayern has very intelligent players," he said. "They have been in the Champions League final three times in the last four years, so they will understand my few new ideas."

One man who could go a long way to influencing how Bayern play under Guardiola is Franck Ribery.

The Spaniard revealed he has already tested him in a number of positions during the short time he has had to work with him.

"Franck has always played on the wing," he said. "Only in some matches for France he played central behind the striker.

"During the pre-season friendly matches I want to find out who can play in different positions. We will have to wait and see if I really change their positions in the end. We can play with real strikers, we can play without a real striker [a false nine]. I have a great team here and we can play different formations."

Mario Gomez, who has been heavily linked with a move to Fiorentina of late, travelled to Italy with the squad for the training camp.

And despite reports stating that the striker does not fit into Guardiola's plans, the Bayern boss said he was happy to have him on board.

"Mario is a great footballer," he said. "Mario is a player of Bayern Munich so he is part of the team. I have worked with him for a week now and he has been very professional."

Music/Radio › Fela Kuti's Voice Resonates In Finland. by Lordave(op): 10:46am On Jul 05, 2013
Anikulapo-Kuti musical produced in Helsinki, Finland, is at the centre of a renewed burst of enthusiasm for multicultural interaction,
writes CHUX OHAI The idea to create a musical based on the life and works of late Afrobeat creator, Fela Anikulapo-Kuti, originated from Kitari Mayele, the cultural producer of the International Cultural Centre in Helsinki, Finland. By the end of January, the plan to have the musical, which was already titled 'Beats of a BArD's Country', on the stage had been concluded. But there was an immediate challenge: who would undertake the task of writing the script for production? Eventually, the choice fell on Charles Ogu, a Nigerian writer resident in that country. Aware that he had a difficult task in his hands and not knowing how to set about accomplishing it, he was initially confused. "I was totally amiss in which direction to go as the script writer. How do you mount a Fela Kuti production in a society that is totally foreign to English language, how much more the dialect- pidgin?" he says, in an online interview with our correspondent on Tuesday. Ogu's dilemma deepened as it became obvious that no concrete plans were afoot. Moroccan born director, Hossni Boudali (who played Fela), whose knowledge of Afrobeat music was indisputable, blundered and thrashed in every direction as he was made to undergo a short drill in Pidgin English and African spirituality. By the time that hurdle was finally scaled, with some assistance from the producer of the musical, Marjo-Sisko Lindstedt , getting the entire cast still posed a serious challenge. Then relief came after a certain Art school in Helsinki indicated an interest in the production. "Suddenly, we had hundreds of people willing to move their bodies and shake them to the rhythm of Afrobeat. And by the time Aija Kauppanen, the choreographer, began synthesizing and threading the dance steps (in concert with the politically charged lyrics of Fela), a 'comprehensive show' was already on the way, though without the usual 'yabis'. "CAISA created a flavour of African communal life, an exotic mix of Somali, Congolese, Gambian and Nigerian variants, complete with their cuisines in different stands. The result was reminiscent of Kalakuta Republic, where things were shared in common and food was eaten in groups," Ogu says. Most of the volunteers were Finnish students and foreigners - asylum seekers to be precise, whose interests were divergent. While some were genuinely drawn by the desire to learn more about African culture, others saw the show as an opportunity to meet more people and to get integrated in the cultural environment of their hosts. Ogu noted that certain events preceding the final production had already raised public awareness of the musical. For example, the Helsinki Sanomat, Finland's largest circulating newspaper, published a rave review of the final rehearsal and the FaceBook page of the musical, tagged 'Felaway', was daily updated with the events from the rehearsals, even as the public eagerly awaited the show. Still, there was one more hurdle to scale. The organisers of the show realised that there was no official approval from the copyright owners to 'power' the show, as it were. Finland's copyright authority would definitely not allow the show to hold without an approval from from Fela's family. So, Fela's daughter and eldest child, Yeni Kuti, was contacted and a formal request to proceed on the production was put to her. After a while, Yeni finally authorised the show and there was jubilation among the cast and production crew of the musical. Tickets were already sold out and over 680 people missed seeing the show for want of tickets. Ogu enthusiastically describes the opening of the show on Friday, April 26, as signifying the birth of a 'new Afrobeat' in the Scandinavian country. The successful production of the musical and its overwhelming reception, he adds, spells a positive turn in Afro- Finnish cultural relations. "Now, pidgin English has become a common tongue among the cast of the musical, which comprises Finns and asylum seekers, who wanted to find relevance with the immigration authority by participating in a worthwhile project," he notes. Satisfied with his role in installing Fela Anikulapo-Kuti, now known among the Finnish as the 'political musician from Nigeria', as the symbol of a much- needed cultural affirmation in Finland and in advancing Afrobeat as an art form that "voices a unique and powerful African essentialism", Ogu is optimistic that the voice of the late legend will, henceforth, rule the Finnish music scene without end.

Politics › Niger Delta May No Longer Enjoy 13% Derivation-mitee by Lordave(op): 10:08am On Jul 05, 2013
The Chairman, Nigeria Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative, Mr. Ledum Mitee, has said the Niger Delta region will no longer enjoy the 13 per cent derivation that accrues from Company Income Tax if the current Petroleum Profit Tax is replaced with the Nigerian Hydrocarbon Tax as proposed in the Petroleum Industries Bill. He also said the volume of crude oil production might be difficult to ascertain except a new royalty provision was included in the PIB. Mitee made these observations in a paper entitled, 'Some reflections on the Petroleum Industry Bill and the Niger Delta', which he delivered at a workshop organised by AFROFIT Consult in Calabar, Cross River State on Thursday. He said whereas NHT would be subject to the 13 per cent derivation, the CIT would not, adding that this was one of the implications of the proposed changes to the derivation principle. Mitee said, "Section 60 of the PPT Act provides that any dividend paid out by a company from profits on which PPT has been paid is exempted from further Nigerian tax. This provision is retained in Section 350 of the PIB. Hence, dividends paid out of profits that have been subjected to NHT will not be liable to withholding tax, personal income tax, CIT and other Nigerian taxes. "Consequently, the restriction on effects of Personal Income Tax and other Acts of dividends will reduce the revenue under 13 per cent derivation, and which
will have direct bearing on the interests of the Niger Delta states." According to him, Section 304 [1a] states that the NHT will be calculated based on proceeds from sales of oil, gas, condensates and bitumen, a development that "leaves the door open in principle for transfer pricing by exporting crude oil at artificially low prices. Subsequently, Section 315 builds in some protection for the valuation of crude oil and condensates, although rather weakly."
