Razak5:How much does it cost? |
Razak5:Thanks man Do you also have the mouse trackpad for the same dv4? I have been using USB mouse all this while And yes, I read the guide on insidemylaptop.com and they said that it can handle up to 8GB RAM(4GB * 2) |
dcolumbus001:Did it work? |
Razak5:Yeah bro. Real crazy upgrade ![]() My dream laptop is over a thousand dollars. I can tweak my current system and get up to 18 months extra out of it before it gets slow again Thanks for the reply It was 2GB RAM before. I upgraded to 4GB 4 months ago now I need 8GB. When I was upgrading, I had 8GB(4GB *2) in mind but the guy told me the same thing that it isn't common. I found some from Alibaba for 7-10 dollars per stick but shipping is the problem. I'll check Jumia sha But that battery though... 1hr 50 minutes is kinda low. I don't have light issues for now. And my current battery lasts 30 minutes to 45 minutes. But I'm relocating to a place where electricity is not very good so I need a good backup. Like 3 hours at least |
I need the following 4GB * 2 DDR2 RAM sticks Intel Core 2 duo T9600/9800 processor HP dv4 battery Any certified seller here and how much would all cost? Within Lagos though..... |
dcolumbus001:If you are using windows 10, just search mouse settings and tick/untick the box that says switch primary/secondary buttons You can also select the additional option settings and configure it more. If it's an external USB mouse, you can search for the name by unplugging and plugging it in back in device manager(note the device under Human interface devices or mice and pointing devices). Then use the same instructions above to navigate to the hardware tab under additional mouse settings and select your mouse and configure |
How much video RAM? |
But does the processor have virtualization technology? Cos it's slow running all processes on one core at a time when I can utilize both cores and run it twice as fast |
Bro, I just need your mouse track pad for my dv4. Will you remove it and sell it to me? ![]() |
If you slap this kind of speed on a laptop, will icons open before you click on them? ![]() |
Remove the RAM and put it back in Buy thermal paste and slap it on the CPU and GPU. It should be caused by overheating. And since it's a laptop, you can't get a bigger fan unlike desktops. You can buy those mini fans though or better still get a cooling pad. And don't write this off, saying my system is not hot to the touch. It can fry your board, that's why it's shutting down unexpectedly. If you think I am joking, get Speedfan app to calculate the heat of the HDD, CPU, GPU in real time. Once it's above 110C for a few seconds on the GPU sector (and I think 90C for the CPU) it will shut down immediately. I hope my solutions above works for you |
TThank you for this.... I will buy Glo cheap sub and use stingy MTN superspeed to browse and download Or since Ntel network is not yet in my area, I will buy their unlimited sub for 1k and use it with MTN or Airtel Network |
Toecynne:You are installing Windows as a clean installation right? After installing the Windows from CD or flash drive unto your hard drive (be sure you have done this), reboot the pc. Go into bios(maybe f2 or f10, but usually it shows the : esc to pause startup. Press Esc. It will show the right key to enter Bios. Navigate to system configuration and enter boot options. Go to boot order and move "notebook hard drive" or anyhow it may be written as, to the top of the list Exit Bios and try startup If it is not a clean installation, that means you probably have been using it before, try checking your hard drive. It may have dislodged especially if you don't have a bracket covering it like most people do. Fix it in properly. If it doesn't work, get an external connector and connect it to another pc to check that the hard drive isn't corrupted. If you can't access your files, it means it is corrupted. Get a new hard drive. Hope it works for you |
good188:Are you sure the same doesn't happen on battery? Try reinstalling the drivers or updating them. If it doesn't work, Oga, disable the Ps2 mouse and buy a USB mouse, preferably an optical one. I got one for 1,500. And I prefer using it ![]() |
ronvlaar:My one kobo opinion. If you can open the system on your own, try the following 1. Remove the RAM module and seat it back. If there are two, try swapping them. If it still doesn't work, try using one RAM stick at a time. If it still doesn't work, move to number 2 2. Since you said it's not a screen problem, this may fix it but the probability is lower than 50%. Remove the video cable and put it back. 3. This would be your fix. You opened the laptop recently I guess. Open it again. You probably dislodged the processor. Remove the heatsink. Open the screw to unlatch the processor. Make sure it aligns with all the pins and put it back. And then, close the opening screw. Replace your heatsink and reassemble your pc. Make sure everything is tightly connected. Then restart your pc. If this doesn't work, either your motherboard or your processor is damaged. I don't think it has anything to do with the hard drive |
This is what happens when people don't understand English Saying that "16 never looked so good" doesn't mean she is 16. You know, many people always say sweet 16. So, she's actually saying: I'm older than 16 but I actually look better than I did, when I was 16.... Always try to look at things like this from different directions ![]() |

Razak5:So there's no DIY solution for it? |
Razak5:I play God Of War on my phone with that PPSSPP emulator on 2GB RAM and it doesn't even lag at all. And before I even play it on the PC, I end all unnecessary tasks with task manager just to make it run normally. And at times, the freaking laptop powers on, on its own. I don't know which ghost is haunting me. And anytime it happens that way, it beeps erratically. Until I open the lid, close it and open it again ![]() By the way, I don't have any engineer that can give me thermal paste And I definitely can't go back to solitaire and minesweeper ![]() |
I have an HP Pavilion dv4 1100ea notebook system. It comes with a factory installed OS of Windows Vista but I installed Windows 10 Home as a clean installation ![]() It has a 500GB HDD(upgraded from 320) and 4GB RAM. The GPU is Nvidia GeForce 9200M GS. And the CPU is Intel Core 2 Duo T5800 running at 2.0Ghz It works fine except for a slight glitch. It suddenly turns off after about 5 minutes when playing a game Since I upgraded the hard drive, I only have PPSSPP installed on it with only 4 games. Two God of War games, PES 2016 and Tekken which are not visually intensive Thinking it was an overheating problem, I opened it up and cleaned the whole system. The fan was clogged up and I cleaned it. I coupled it back. But the issue persists. And it's not an overheating issue. I don't have a temperature monitoring app but I'm pretty sure that the temperature is not more than 50C. I also re-attached the CPU when cleaning it and I had to remove the heat sink but I didn't apply thermal paste cos I don't even know where to get it. Could that be the issue? And it never does this when watching movies(I watched movies for over 10 hours yesterday with the charger plugged in). Or could it be a problem of it being plugged in for too long. Please, help me cos it's annoying when Kratos is about killing a beast and it just goes off |
