Recently, I received the news that the government allocated about 3 billion naira for the provision of relief and medical supplies to states near the Rivers Niger and Benue because of the flooding.They include Kogi, Edo, Delta, Niger, Kwara State, Kebbi, Rivers, Bayelsa, Adamawa States amongst others. However, Ogun State was not listed. The reason is not farfetched. Our problem comes from another source. The Oyan Dam. I did a little research on the dam. The facts are listed below

1. Oyan Dam was created in 1983. It was commissioned under the Shagari government.
2. It is situated on River Oyan, a tributary to the Ogun River
3. Several villages were displaced during the construction of the Oyan Dam
3. It has a capacity of 270 million cubic meters.
4. It is located in Abeokuta
5. The dam has a total of 3 turbines of 3 Megawatts each installed. Fact number 6 is probably the most interesting.
6. It has an annual generating capacity of 0 Megawatts. Simply put, these turbines have been lying fallow for about 35 years without being put to work.

Due to the structure of dams, it has to be opened periodically to prevent the dam falling apart on its own. When this happens, it floods the surrounding areas or areas close to the Ogun River. Oluwakemi area of Denro-Ishasi and Iboko area is being affected by this. Of course, our hearts would sit easy if the dam was actually being used
Denro-Ishasi is one of the routes leading to Berger, Lagos State. And the journey has to be divided into two. One on road and the second on water(via canoes). As a result of this stress, most people choose an alternate route which is the Akute-Alagbole route which is almost always prone to heavy traffic.

The long and short of my story is that the government should do something about it. Even if the release of the dam is inevitable, the people affected should be provided with relief materials. Most people have been displaced already. This news should be passed on to relevant authorities such as NEMA. And I would also appreciate if it is moved to the front page

All thanks to udemzyudex.... I was able to resolve my BIOS problem. His contact, Fatai, was very quick and solved the problem in less than an hour. In fact, the guy is a hot cake in that Ladipo cheesy

Some mobo have two bios, one for EC/SIO and one for PCH.
And that's also a symptom of a corrupt ME region, you need svod 3, Rt809f, Rt809h or any other programmer to update or back date ME region. It has nothing to do with bios recovery.

But since you say that's not the issue no problem and you don't want to heat the VGA no wahala.

I believe you have a multimeter meter, run a cold test on the motherboard, put your MM on Diode mode, red probe to ground and black probe on graphic coil, what value do u get? Anything below 0.010 means there is short..

Concerning the system. I just did BIOS recovery with the ORIGINAL BIOS file and it beeped as usual to show that it was successful. But after reboot, the problem remained
I'm guessing that it is not a BIOS problem as I thought. Even the blinks say its graphic controller error
I don't want to damage the VGA or board by heating it but do you think I should cover up the fans and allow it overheat and see if it will help the solder to hold well? Or should I do a hard reset and remove the CMOS battery now that I have recovered the BIOS

I mentioned it was not a HP verified BIOS. I got it from a bios mod forum. But what gave me the balls to flash it was that many people said they have flashed it and it worked for them

Heating the VGA, shockingly might be a bright option [y'know could be a coincidence] though not a 1st choice.

Ofcourse, you can try out the HDMI...

And finally, let's be sure the BIO is soldered... Schematics might help.

BIOS UPDATE GONE BAD!!!

You may be lucky (60:40)with a recovery BIOS, but remember there's no display.

Have you tried another monitor? And you're sure this monitor connected to AC power? Y'know, I'm asking because panick can make us forget stuff...

Nonetheless, reseating another bios if the BIOS isn't on-board (I need a better description) should be relatively easy. Compared to more modern laptops.

... A chip level engineer will be able to decipher what the fate of your laptop will be...

I am one, but I don't handle BIOS Stuff. Not only does it take time, you'll have to run through each major component again and again for every chip you change so! damn...

I do know a guy who does this, recorded more success stories that gloomy ones.

If your PC doesn't work after this, then motherboard replacement calling... Intel dv4 boards only.

Feel for you maaan.
Take it as this as the life of a tech adventurer. Sometimes exciting (tweaking components and watching your laptop "fly" and sometimes gloomy (what just happened to you)

Yes, power is connected to both laptop and monitor. And i think the BIOS chip is soldered(I'll check it today)
The only thing I get is blinking caps lock and num lock keys 4 times and a pause and then another four times and so on. According According to HP manual, 4 times means graphics controller error and 2 blinks mean bios error. But I'm getting 4 blinks so I'm confused here. I'll also try HDMI at a friends place tomorrow
The sites I have seen are telling me to heat the graphics chip with a heat gun. I don't have the specialty to do that before I damage the board. And I know its not the graphics controller. Maybe the default setting in the new BIOS disabled onboard graphics. The only thing I get also is beeps when I press page up and page down, function keys and tab key

I'll try the recovery method today, but if I'm truly fvcked, like how much will the BIOS chip replacement cost? And how much is the motherboard?

I just made the most stupid decision of my life
I wanted to modify my bios so I can change a lot of things since HP and other manufacturers hide the useful settings for overclocking, fan control and others

So I went to biosmods forum and I saw an unlocked bios for my system HP pavilion dv4 1xxx series with InsydeH20 bios f.66 and f.67 that is tripleconfirmed. I flashed it from within Windows but after restarting, the Insyde Bios Setup was the same as before. I tried it like five times. No joy

So i made a bootable USB drive with Win 98 DOS mode and I copied the bios file and the WinFlash utility. I typed in the command line and it updated it successfully and the system restarted. Upon restart, the hard drive light shows and spins but I get no video output. No POST. No BIOS screen. The caps lock and num lock leds blink four times. I run to HP support website and it says that four blinks mean graphics controller error. So I hooked up my monitor to the motherboard directly with VGA cable but still nothing
I opened it up and reset the CMOS battery, cleaned the RAM sticks and the slots and unlatched and latched the processor. Did a hard reset. Still nothing

The instructions I'm seeing talk about hotswapping the BIOS from a working motherboard which I'm sure can kill the motherboard if not properly done
Should I make a recovery bios of my former bios on a USB and cleverly flash it and see if it would reset?

If I manage to get out of this, i won't try updating BIOS ever again!

I have both Airtel and MTN
I can't keep more than two sims

So, what I do is, I subscribe for the 1.5gb for 200naira and also 500mb for 25naira on the same Airtel SIM. And then, I subscribe for 25 naira for 500mb on MTN.
Which means 2.5gb for 250naira

However,i prefer MTN for the reason that it warns you when it is 99mb and finally when it finishes. I don't want to have stories that touch when I start using out of my normal data and it passes the threshold I want. Airtel doesn't warn you at all. I have had cases where I exhausted 700mb out of my 3.5gb normal sub in one night thinking that I have scammed Airtel and I was browsing for free grin

So what I do is to set a data limit in my cellular data settings on my phone so I will see the notification.

Are you sure it writes battery charging? Move your mouse pointer to the icon to be sure. Don't be deceived by the charger icon on the battery. It may be saying: "Charger plugged in, but not charging"
If that is the case, change your charger

But if you have confirmed that it writes "battery charging" or in some new models "battery not detected", change your battery. The cells are dead
